No. It was written for an older kernel. And overclocking is not built into the rom yet anyway.

No, but...
You could use some other stuff like zram and io scheduler. Also change your CPU governer to either conservative or performance. Performance uses more battery. These can all be found in Settings>Performance. Makes it a lot faster.

Bump? Thank you for the zram and io scheduler paths.

[Q] Can SetCPU actually OVERCLOCK my EVO?

My apologies if this has been answered but I haven't been able to find it ...
I'm running AvaFroyo V7 ROM on my rooted EVO, and installed SetCPU. Things are definitely faster. But it appears SetCPU only allows me to UNDERCLOCK (to save battery life, etc.).
Can SetCPU *not* overclock? What am I missing here ...
Thanks in advance!,
Jon
Overclocking has to be enabled in your kernel before you can set it ine set cpu.
It will allow you to overclock if you are using a custom kernel that is capable of the higher frequencies.

Any recommendations ....?
I personally prefer Netarchy CFS 4.1.9.1 and I overclock to 1.19. King makes good kernels too..

Thanks, much appreciated!
Btw, what kind of clock speeds are you able to attain with those kernels?
-- Jon
Most of Kings and Netarchy's kernels can overclock to 1.26 but some CPUs become unstable at those frequencies. Mine runs real nice and safe at 1.19
Duh, my brain was on auto-pilot, didn't see the 1.19 in your previous post.
Thanks a bunch man!

Looking for a Stock JVT compatible Kernel able to Undervolt CPU/RAM/GPU/Screen

Hi to all,
I'm currently an happy used of the Semaphore 1.8.2 kernel, but with it I can only undervolt my CPU, now I'm looking for a Stock Kernel (JVT compatible) able to undervolt RAM/GPU/Screen too, if exists of course?
Any idea?
Thanks to all.

MAybe Cf-root kernels, I'm running on it and uv/oc it with tegrak overlock, works fine untill 1.2 GHz. Didn't try 1.3 GHz, afraid of crash.
Undervolting screen, and RAM requires recompiling the kernel AFAIK. Talon and Galaxian does that if I'm not mistaken. Not sure about Semaphore though.
I have no idea if someone did it for SGS I... for sure, GPU voltage/frequency can be changed for SGS II (e.g. by Click... I didn't saw anything like this for SGS yet.
You'll need combination for kernel, e.g talon as mentioned above, and "Control Freak" app. Still, I did not saw anything for RAM.
Why not trying one of the alternative kernels?
SpeedMod, Midnight and Semaphore are pretty good and stable kernels and all of them allow UV.

Yes I have done a long testing on TalonDEV, really great Kernel (also if in Developing status)!
Thanks again!

Thanks, yes at the end I choose the Semaphore 1.9.0 (Big Memory version) with a little modified ScreenScale Status script, a long tested extreme undervolt (of CPU core and non-core voltages) and freezing more not used system apps and services, a customized JuiceDefender Ultimate, and a bit more... so now I can obtain about 48 hours of battery life (expecially when I don't do any reboot7recovery/new-flash... ehehehe!)!
And that's all!
These days talondev and semaphore on top. But semaphore is better a bit now for me.

i use talonDEV because in seem to be stable on low frequencies
i set 100mhz 200mhz max when the screen is off and semaphore freeze my galaxy, with talonDEV work well
i have to try the undervolt parameters, but iusing juice defender i save my battery even if not UV

Yes really the Semaphore 1.8.2 (I don't try with the latest 1.9.0) freeze the phone on 100-200 Mhz in sleep status but I chose it instead of TalonDev for the following motives:
1)...I had some little icon display problems (only 1-2 times) with TalonDEV (draws a little black box in the Icon upper-right corner);
2)...with Semaphore my quadrant score is higher (about 15%/20% more) and generally the system is more fluid and responsive
3)...with the Semaphore Script (installed from the kernel) I'm really able to customize more and more my kernel but with the TalonDEV I can only change the Memory Options (with it's custom application).
What do you think about?

OC Governor

Hi!
I am using TEAM EOS MZ-604 nightly.
Which Kernel does it have?
is it using Tiamat AOSP Kernel 3.0.5?
And i would like to have power save Governor.
How can i contact about it?
someone?
I dont know how can i send message to solarnz or somtin'
They are available in the IRC channel:
asimov.freenode.net
#xoom
You should be able to flash 3.0.5 with that nightly if that's what you're looking for.
The very latest nightly has Tiamat 3.0.8.
We don't have the powersave governor, however the default is interactive. If you're looking for a governor that doesn't clock the tablet up too much, try the ondemand or conservative governor.

Glad to see Solarnz here. I had a question about governors too. I know on my Galaxy Nexus, most of the kernels come with Hotplug and the like that disable one of the cores when not in use. Are there any governors for the Xoom that perform the same function? IMO's learnkernel has HotplugX and (i believe his own) InteractiveX (which performs the hotplug function in addition to being an interactive gov). Why don't we see this sort of development on the Xoom? Not that I'm demanding it or anything. Just surprised to not see more mention of it. Do we not need it? Is our Tegra hardware vastly different in operation?

[Q] Kernel/Tool with CPU+GPU clock profiles?

Hi!
I'm looking for a kernel that supports both CPU+GPU over/under-clocking.
And more importantly, I need a tool which also lets me create easily appliable profiles for both clocks.
ATM, I'm using franco.kernel R142, with his tool. It supports profiles, but only for CPU clocks.
Thanks!

Franco's kernel doesn't support GPU overclocking, but I can recommend four that do have GPU and CPU OC/UC.
Community Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260439 CPU to 1.9, GPU to 487
Trinity: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083904 CPU to 1.8, GPU to 487
Bricked Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056527 CPU to 1.8, GPU to 533
Faux Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008222 Many different versions, including CPU to 1.9, GPU to 487
Best of luck,

BTW, which kernel have you had the most luck with?
Also, Trickster mod does not seem to have GPU clock speeds in profiles.

Last time I checked the GPU option is available in Franco's kernel updater app. It's in "Frequencies/Voltages"

Yes, I know it is. But...
Caveat emptor :
1. You can only underclock. No overclock.
2. You can't set GPU clocks as part of the Power Profiles.
Any suggestions?

I don't think it's a good idea to overclock the GPU. The adreno 320 GPU is quite efficient and delivers great performance in it's default settings.
May I ask why do you want to over clock it?

Hahaha... Only for novelty purposes, and the heck of it... I haven't noticed lag in anything actually.
In fact, I tried running MC4 and NFS MW at the CPU at 1.1 GHz, with 400 MHz GPU - no lag. 1.5 GHz is overkill, IMO.
Mainly I need underclock. Which franco supports. BUT, I simply need profiles.
I want to set up lower GPU clocks for lower CPU clocks, for just internet browsing and stuff.
And, vice versa for gaming. If not over-clock, just default GPU clock speeds for gaming.
Any ideas/apps?

OC Kernel....

Can anyone try to make a new kernel for this phone? It would be nice to have more features in a kernel such as more governors, CPU and GPU OC and such.

We already have threads dedicated to this. For now, no, we don't have and we won't really have in the close future...
