Hi, I have an unmodded but unlocked M526 I bought on ebay.
I use the 3 network, baseband epu93_u_00.60.03 and Gingerbread 2.3.6.
It has worked fine for months but now will only operate on 2g and wifi (GPS works too).
I tried freq_F_UK_342_117-900-2100-signed.zip without any luck.
What should I try next? Thanks

Stock Motorola 2.3.6 on the 3 network in the UK - it's an unmodded/unrooted phone. Apologies if this is in the wrong sub-forum.

I saw some time ago that there was a firmware for the lg quantum to get wireless tethering...
I don't remember for which country it was , but I know it wasn't for the US quantum...
Is there anyway to install that firmware if I don't have a quantum that is from the same country?
it was the telstra one. i do remember that a few people just flashed a telstra rom and succeeded to get the upgraded firmware including wifi tethering.
just try.

Hello All,
I'm one day new to Android, but deep in WinMo (formerly here) and iPhones.
I Rooted using SuperOneClick and all went well.
Installed 2init, all good.
Flashed CM7.1 Stable
Now I have no data service. I went ahead and saw the baseband selector and I selected Argentina, I'm in the Dominican Republic, but it's the same frequencies (850/1900) and nothing.
Please help.

Hello! Sometimes, same frequencies means nothing in Baseband switcher. I think you have to check all the frequencies and options until you find the correct one.
Greetings!
Try all the basebands until it works
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
Tried China ME722 1.10 (850/1900/2100) No Good Either
Australia Telstra 2.26.0 (850/2100) got EDGE, atleast.
I have been trying all of them, and only get EDGE. When I tried Argentina Claro, I got 3G but only for like 5 seconds then the entire signal was lost. Gonna keep searching.
Well, It all Failed No 3G
I even had a live chat with Motorola and they confirmed that my IMEI matches the sticker on my box, the bands are correct for my networks etc, so I guess my only option is to flash my phone back to factory and send the phone for replacement: It's two days old.

Can Someone link me or tell me how to revert CM7.1 to Original 2.2 firmware that came with my phone? Is there a way from me reading the label on the box to put the original firmware back and even "un-root" the phone?

You have to flash a SBF. It's the only way to have an original firmware again and un-root the phone. You should check this and choose a SBF file. Also, if you are lucky, you can find the original SBF file of your provider on Google.
Hey guys, long time reader first time poster!
Having to do so as I have trouble with my Motorola Defy running Pikachu edition. I purchased the defy as a vodafone NZ phone (so should be 900mhz extended) however all the 900mhz basebands I have tried in the baseband switcher do not get me a signal when outside of the city's (Auckland) 2100mhz coverage. I can retrieve SMS briefly when I am on the Thailand 900/2100 baseband.
My first question is, am I doing something wrong? has anybody else in New Zealand had this issue with a device for the correct network?
My second question is - without the original packaging is there ANY other way of telling if my radio chipset is 850mhz or 900mhz or the extended network coverage? It has a red camera if that helps anyone offer information?
Thanks for any advice!
I have the same problem after moving to cm9.
I use Central Europe 3.4.x here but need an answer for next trip out of Auckland.
Vodafone is supposed to be 900/1800 gsm 2g and 900/2100 umts 3g.
EDIT : On one of my defys boxes (not sure which one ) it says :
WDCDMA 850/2100 GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Hope that helps, I'll let you know if I work it out but I'm rarely out of town

Hey mate, Fellow NZ'er here from Auckland.
Actually had this problem for the first time the other day using CM10 not the pikachu rom.
I ended up switching my baseband to the Australia 900/2100 mhz one and problems were solved but before that i did use the central europe one mentioned above. (not sure what options you have on your current rom however)
go onto "gsmarena" website and look up the motorola defy and you can see all the specifications.
sorry cant post links yet until i have 10 posts made
So aussie Optus 900/2100 3.4.2-145 works in the wop wops of nz? Sweet bro, that's great news for next time I'm at my folks farm. Cheers.

Hey guys thanks for all the info so far! I'll be honest I tried the Australia Optus one, amongst every single one and honestly getting nothing? Hmm, it's not the latest version of pikachu so I might try the latest Xy edition next... otherwise has anyone had luck with MS2Ginger or other roms in NZ? this is pretty frustrating :/

Maybe its time to revert back to the stock sbf using rsdlite, root again, then flash the rom of your choice eg Pikachu last build.
Because reverting back to the stock settings is possibly the easiest way to solve this problem of yours.

Hi Naley, Thanks heaps for your reply! As I will google what you are talking about tomorrow when I get a chance, but to be honest I have mostly played/flashed SGS and am new to this Defy... I purchased it 2nd hand with CM7 or the likes already on it (can't remember now)... so don't have any backup of original VFNZ rom etc - am I still able to return to original? I am more than happy to do so if you can point me in the right direction?
Basic guide to Flashing roms
Well first of all, before you do anything at all, here is the Defy wiki page. This should give you all the information you need:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Motorola_Defy
1) You need to know what to do if you screw up the rom flashing process and get a boot loop.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
Now you just have to select the correct "SBF " file.
For me I will use the GB (great britain) or Uk (united Kingdon) SBF files.
And there should be a guide on the wiki page OR the sbf page which will tell you how to do it.
Learn this and install the "rsdlite" software on your computer before you even think about doing anything to your phone
2) Now because you are already rooted and using CM7, the hard part is over.
To flash a new rom it is the same process as any android phone, with CM7 just hold down power button and reboot to recovery. (manual recovery is explained on the wiki page)
3) Find out what lens you have (green or red)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116694
4) Rom selection - I'm sure i can leave you to finding the rom of your choice.
Just follow the instructions for the specific rom that you want according to your lens type.
NOTE: Green lens = Froyo Kernal, Red Lens = GB Kernal & Defy+ builds.
5) Main steps for flashing a rom
1) Boot into recovery
2) Wipe data/cache & Dalvik cache
3) install zip from sd card (Rom & Google apps)
4) Wipe Dalvik Cache
5) Reboot (This can take up to 5mins with some roms, if longer just pull battery and reboot and it will boot properly the second time)
Maybe a lot of this stuff you already know from your SGS days, but just thought i would have a more or less complete guide just in case

One last note about the original stock Android 2.2 sbf rom.
Its buggy as hell.
You really want to avoid it, but the 2.1 is okay so if you downgrade then go to the Android 2.1 Sbf.
Defy bootloader is locked, so read the wiki (and previous post) cos its all a bit more complicated than most other phones!
Your already set up with clockwork by the sound of it though, so sbf will only be used in case of brick.
I've seen a telecom sbf, the only nz sbf afaik... No Vodafone or 2degrees available. So, if you do a factory reset and it's a Vodafone rom, could you please create (and upload) a nandroid backup!!
I don't have one, my 'stock' is Nordic froyo. It'd be nice to set up a kiwi stock if I sell one of my defys.
I don't recall having the acountryside connection trouble with ms2ginger or CM7.2 (a very nice rom, smooth and well tested.).
CM10 (based on jelly bean) Will be best once the last bugs are out.
MB525 Quarx2k CM10: 30th July
Vodafone NZ don't offer motorola phones at all due to there being no local service centre so there will be no vodafone build.
Telecom do have the defy but it runs on a different network so I think we can omit telecom roms.

Hi Notes, thanks for all your info! I like to think I'm pretty good at this stuff but heck the Defy is confusing me a little! I know I purchased my phone with CM7 already on it, and I just installed the pikachu zip and ran it etc no problems... now to go back, are you telling me that I can return to the original Vodafone rom without downloading any SBF etc? as in it's still in there? If so (I have read the wiki!) I am still a little confused how, or at least how to confirm my CG number etc... would you explain a tiny bit or give me a step by step?
Thanks!

No you can't go back to the original vodafone rom by just doing a full wipe, the only way is going to be flashing the sbf for the original firmware.
It's the easiest thing to do IMO.
1) Download rsdlite and install.
2) Download SBF file.
3) Follow sbf instructions which in simple are -
enter bootloader mode, connect via usb, rsdlite will detect your phone, select your sbf file, and then with one click your software is installed in front of you
The only trouble that can occur sometimes is that your phone is not recognised by rsdlite... I think the best thing to do is connect your phone by "portal" mode in the usb connection options and make sure the drivers install correctly on your computer first just to be safe. But it shouldn't matter.
All 900/2100 basebands I tried failed to connect in the country.
No Vodafone sbf, that's the problem... If it's simply a baseband changer problem. Wierd

NZ Telecom Defy+ SBF
Hey Bros!
Its cool to see some kiwis on XDA!
Anyway, I had a NZ-related question.
I have a telecom Defy red lense, I am on jelly bean, but have bought a Motorola Droid Razr that I am switching to.
What defy+ gb sbf should I flash for telecom defy?
Thanks guys!
There is a telecoms nz sbf. I think it was just froyo though.
If you can't find it I think I still have a copy on my laptop. I got it from a big list of them linked from one of the guides on here.
Edit: its here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordan/list.php

I'm running a cm10 jelly defy MB525 red lens. only works on 2g with china baseband 850/2100. But I'm on 2degrees, Shouldn't I be using 900/2100? Problem is I cant seems to get any baseband with these frequencies to work.
Hey, I am on 2degrees and have a Motorola Defy bought from Telecom NZ running WIUI and can't seem to get it to run on 900/2100 UMTS properly. I know 2degrees has 900 UMTS in our area cause it works fine on my LG Optimus Black. I changed the baseband to Optus Australia but GSM stopped working and I can only get a UMTS signal, this happened in many other basebands too. I gave up and just left it on the Telstra Australia baseband as that seems to be the only one that will work with no problems apart from the fact I can't get 900 UMTS
I was an exchange student in Canada a while ago and I bought my galaxy s4 GT i9505 there, it was unlocked for other carriers, because I live in Brazil, so I bought it and a friend of mine tried to update the OS, but he did put the Google Edition OS on my phone, and now it doesn't recognize my sim card, it's like I can't catch the signal again, anyways, I have 2 main questions:
1-Can I go back to Samsung stock rom and it will be okay?
2-What is the correct stock for the M919VVLUAMDJ baseband version? Does the carrier matter? Because I don't know, because I bought it unlocked
PLEASE HELP ME =(

Hi there.
I bought a Galaxy S4 from Sptint, so I can then use it on Bell Canada.
I finally rooted and painstakingly unlocked it and changed the APN. Everything is currently working. But I want to flash a custom ROM.
Which version should I flash, the Sprint version or the Bell Canada version?
I tried the Cohen mod Sprint version last, but had enormous problems, so much that I needed a factory reset and start from scratch.
