LITE REMIX V4 BONUS PACKAGE (Hotfile.com)
Everything you need to start is included in the main archive. Use the v3.99 edition if you don't want the new icons and quickpanel. Bonus stuff such as ringtones, wallpapers, application/widget installs, boot animations and boot images are included in the extended bonus package.
If you want Java apps in main menu check the MenuCFG folder (in extras) before full flashing!
Big thanks to Nexus and Hero355 for their great work that this is based on!
A customizable CFW:
The Lite Remix is the most customizable CFW available for the GT-S8500. Customizable means: easily customizable by you. Once you did the basic install of the Lite Remix, you may choose which apps are installed, which apps show up in the main menu, how much app memory you have free, which lockscreen (original or new) to use, boot animations, boot screens and even which Bada FW core (XXLG1, JVLC2 or DDLC2) to use - all this without losing any data and having to set up everthing anew. Although the Lite Remix is originally based on Hero355's and Nexus' work, it now has many unique features.
A 'lite' CFW:
Although this CFW is lite in every sense of the word, meaning only the absolutely basic, non memory wasting stuff is included in the base install, you're not actually missing on anything. You may have everything other CFWs have in this one, too, but at your own choice and pace. You may add and remove anything that you need at your own will, and on top of that I'm providing easy to follow instructions for you to do so. The goal of this CFW is to be lite and easy on RAM, so that even HD Games like Tintin work good on it, while still keeping functionality. It is also intended as a solid base for other CFW projects of your own.
Choose your own base FW:
Using the core patches you may change the base FW (standard: XXLG1) for this (JVLC2 and DDLC2 patches included in the main archive). You won't lose any data flashing them and you can always go back. If you should notice problems such as lag, low battery life or non-working push email, I highly recommend using the JVLC2 FW core from the all-in-one-package above instead. Patching is easy, safe and quick. Updated core patches are now included in the LiteRemix XXLG1 archive (extras folder) itself.
Thanks go to...:

Basic instructions for installing the Lite Remix:
Code:
HOW TO FLASH THE LITEREMIX
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Full Flashing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[1] Select from the CSC folder the CSC file fitting your needs (check
the accompanied text file).
[2] Select from the MenuCFG folder the menu configuration fitting your
needs (optional, only if you want Java apps in the main menu).
[3] Full flash with CSC, MenuCFG and the files from this directory.
[4] Still confused? You might want to use Google and search for a
flashing tutorial.
I Want More App Memory!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alright, I heard you. Just use the alternate FFS file inside the
'zzz_extras' folder inside of the standard. Has to be applied during
full flash, and you'll have to manually update Samsung Market this way,
but you'll have ~10MB additional app memory, which might come in handy
for demanding HD games.
Music Hub, Caster, SevenIM, Widgets...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You might wonder where all the additional apps and widgets have gone. In
the liteRemix, these are provided via a seperate extended bonus package
with instructions included. You may add these to your running FW at any
time without any data loss at all. Yup, your contacts, messages, memos,
... will stay intact, even if you add these later on.
Core Patches?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the only Bada 2.0 CFW available, the liteRemix provides you with the
possibility to hot swap the core components of your FW. Turkish JVLC2
and indian DDLC2 are provided as alternatives (don't worry, your set
language won't be affected by using the patches). If you're experiencing
slowdowns and/or lag in your installation, why not try this? Check the
core patches folder (in zzz_extras) for instructions! Again, hot
swapping the FW core components is done without any data loss.
I Want The Original Lockscreen Back!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No problem, just check the original lockscreen folder inside the
zzz_extras folder. Again, you won't have any data loss adding this to a
running installation. Starting to see a pattern here?
Still want more?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Checkout the extended bonus package for a lot more stuff: additional
ringtones, wallpapers, boot images, boot animations, BadaDroid patch,
etc.....
Attention CFW modders:
Due to some heavy reorganisations some stuff that was previously in CSC://CSCsfs/SystemFS and in SHPAPP is now inside the FFS file. Keep that in mind when editing it yourself using my tutorials!
Want to give the Lite Remix to your friends?:
No problem, just make sure that you use the original download links (mirrors are also ok, but let me know) and also add a link to this thread. Other than that, you may freely post this anywhere you like.
Old Stuff:
Old stuff (not recommended, but if you need it...) is still available from the old thread.
BTW: Again, I don't mind if you 'steal' from this one. In fact, I'd rather be flattered.
Op THANK YOU for your wonderfully compiled ROM, all is great except for a small glitch, after choosing the FFS file inside the 'zzz_extras' folder, when I manually update the samsung apps, the phone goes into reboot loop! Please check it and amend the issue. Otherwise a refreshing update for returnees.
:good::good::good:
Can you add the full white 'rom'??
like at turko v8.
does this have the newest android fota and bootfiles for android???
Thank you! Well, the thing about the current Samsung Apps trouble is: There are ways to fix it, but not every fix works for everyone. I suggest you try the experimental FFS file instead, but a full flash will be needed (sorry :-/).
I'll see about the white quick panel (that's what you meant, right?). Newest Android boot files and FOTA are included in the bonus package. You can also first flash with the standard boot loader and FOTA, and later upgrade to Android compatibility. You won't lose any data in you Bada OS doing so and instructions are provided.
EDIT: And before you ask: Why is Android compatibility not standard for this rom? In some tests a few users complained about adverse effects for the performance of the Bada ROM coming from the Android files. The effect is only a little, but enough for me to use standard boot loaders / FOTA as default.
Hi. I'm new to the forum so I can't post on your thread yet. I have several questions that needs your enlightenment since I'm new to custom ROM:
- What's the difference between this and China LiteRemix ZCLC2 v4?
- Is this a full ROM? I'm currently using XXKL6, do I still need to flash to XXLG1?
- Where is the JVLC2 FW core from the all-in-one-package located? I can't seem to find it within the thread.
Looking forward to your kind assistance.
Thank you.
ZCLC2 has only english input and text, but a lot of people say it is faster and more stable than XXLG1.
Yup, it is full, no need to flash anything before.
The JVLC2 core patch is included in the main archive, inside the zzz_bonus folder.
Sounds great, I'll try one of these.
Could you make a ROM without the Live Panel? My girlfriend uses my Wave now, and she hates that, even with the widgets off. She'd just need one single home screen, that would be perfect.
that is correct statement ;}
for now i can tell that this stock samsung firmware is best out of all they have released
how could I install CWM?
thx in advance for the tip
It's rooted so, same way as always, download rom manager from market and have it flashing CWM recovery for you
Thanks for this. I like your simple less-mod approach.
I have a problem with itunes .m4a tags on this and JVZ: they are messed up (no artist name or album art). On a fresh install. Flash back to JVR and they are fine..??
Anyone else? or a quick fix?
i am not sure if rom manager cwm will work -please report if it will and if possible post the exact process...
as for m4a tags. could you post one file that i could check it on ?
am i correct saying that it was working aok in xxjvt? if yes i think i know how to fix it
Thanks for checking this out. Got no answer in JW1 thread...
Not sure about JVT but JVR works fine...
fixing it would require a reliable copy of apktool i guess
so we have to wait for one
i guess that is the way of smsung to prevent apple to sue them more
they are removing anything that could give apple ground for another court case
Thanks again, I guess I'll stay on JVR, for now....
I noticed the same with early 2.3.4, or was it 2.3.3... Anyway, I guess there have been many court actions since then.
i would convert files in some other supported format and use latest firmware as it is a god damn progress made since jvr mate
you can not win apple so easy, sammy took around path i think
why spend milions on useless process when you can just disable that service
google music got a option to import music files from itunes so the problem will be solved that way
Google Music Beta seems most clearly targeted as an "iTunes killer." When you install the Google Music Manager desktop app, it will automatically import your iTunes library into Google, including playlists, and you can keep it synced, which potentially means your iPod and your Android will play the same songs. It will not import iTunes music locked by DRM, so those songs are stuck as iPod only, unless you figure out a way to defeat Apple's DRM.
Google Music only in the US for now, i think?
Yeah, I guess I could convert...
While I had JW1 i liked it and it seemed zippy, you truly think it is a big leap forward? more so than most FW updates?
it is not a secret that you can activate it using us proxy and then use the service from outside us
then you can use cloud service to upload music and stream it to your phone
only downside is that you will be unable to purchase apps untill it will be activated outside us / in your country
yes JW1 is giant leap for mankind compared to JVT it is simply faster
also the 2.3.6 fixed standby mode with all sync for me (means no moar wierd battery usage on that)
Big thanks to Nexus and Hero355 for their great work that this is based on!
New stuff in liteRemix XXLG1 v4.1:
Trouble with Samsung Market hopefully fixed.
Original colours for messages.
New pop style quickpanel (thanks go to Hero355).
needs (optional, only if you want Java apps in the main menu).
[3] Check the ETC_Patches folder in zzz_extras for additional
ETC patches are a new development exlclusive to the liteRemix CFWs. They
are to be used in the ETC field of MultiLoader only when full flashing.
That may have to do with Samsungs recent update of the market... Trouble never stops :-/. Anyways, have you set up the Samsung Account right after flashing or did you set it up later? I'd suggest you'll do it the other way round, but you'll have to reset the phone.
Other than that, with Samsung Apps getting more and more unreliable it might also be a good idea to install apps via Kies instead (I know, noone likes this solution).
Sorry, but I can only judge from my own experience (no trouble of this kind). I'll make a MenuCFG including YuuTube.
Everyone still having trouble with the Samsung Market may try flashing with this FFS:
Download 'Basic' FFS from SendFile
I recommend a full flash (use this FFS instead of the original one). You may try a patch flash, but backup your data.
And, please, give me feedback if you do. Positive or negative, there's no such thing as bad feedback. Include your used language and CSC, how you setup the Samsung Account (right after flashing?) and if you did a full flash or a patch flash.
LITE REMIX V4 BONUS PACKAGE (Hotfile.com)
Everything you need to start is included in the main archive. Use the v3.99 edition if you don't want the new icons and quickpanel. Bonus stuff such as ringtones, wallpapers, application/widget installs, boot animations and boot images are included in the extended bonus package.
If you want Java apps in main menu check the MenuCFG folder (in extras) before full flashing!
Big thanks to Nexus and Hero355 for their great work that this is based on!
New stuff in China liteRemix XXLG1 v4.1:
Trouble with Samsung Market hopefully fixed.
Original colours for messages.
New pop style quickpanel (thanks go to Hero355).
Original lockscreen is now default, Wave 3 lockscreen is included in themes.
ETC patches for enabling any key LCD on, reverting back to old scheme or preinstalling tones packages included.
A customizable CFW:
The Lite Remix is the most customizable CFW available for the GT-S8500. Customizable means: easily customizable by you. Once you did the basic install of the Lite Remix, you may choose which apps are installed, which apps show up in the main menu, how much app memory you have free, which lockscreen (original or new) to use, boot animations, boot screens and much more - all this without losing any data and having to set up everthing anew. Although the Lite Remix is originally based on Hero355's and Nexus' work, it now has many unique features.
A 'lite' CFW:
Although this CFW is lite in every sense of the word, meaning only the absolutely basic, non memory wasting stuff is included in the base install, you're not actually missing on anything. You may have everything other CFWs have in this one, too, but at your own choice and pace. You may add and remove anything that you need at your own will, and on top of that I'm providing easy to follow instructions for you to do so. The goal of this CFW is to be lite and easy on RAM, so that even HD Games like Tintin work good on it, while still keeping functionality. It is also intended as a solid base for other CFW projects of your own.
Basic instructions for installing the China Lite Remix:
Code:
HOW TO FLASH THE LITEREMIX
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Full Flashing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[1] Select from the CSC folder the CSC file fitting your needs (check
the accompanied text file).
[2] Select from the MenuCFG folder the menu configuration fitting your
needs (optional, only if you want Java apps in the main menu).
[3] Check the ETC_Patches folder in zzz_extras for additional
customizations. ETC patches are to be used in the ETC field of
MultiLoader when full flashing (again, optional).
[4] Full flash with CSC, MenuCFG, ETC patch and the files from this
directory.
[5] Still confused? You might want to use Google and search for a
flashing tutorial.
ETC Patches?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
ETC patches are a new development exlclusive to the liteRemix CFWs. They
are to be used in the ETC field of MultiLoader only when full flashing.
Using ETC patches you may patch aspects of the system that have been
previously unpatchable. Check out the ETC patches and their instructions
inside zzz_extras/ETC_Patches folder.
Music Hub, Caster, SevenIM, Widgets...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You might wonder where all the additional apps and widgets have gone. In
the liteRemix, these are provided via a seperate extended bonus package
with instructions included. You may add these to your running FW at any
time without any data loss at all. Yup, your contacts, messages, memos,
... will stay intact, even if you add these later on.
Trouble with Facebook or SHP?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use the MyAccounts patch from inside the folder called 'zzz_extras' (no
data loss). This should fix almost all issues regarding the Social Hub.
Some options inside the settings menu will be blank after using the
patch.
I Want The Wave III Lockscreen / The Original Icons!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No problem, both are already included in themes. Just use the themes
section inside the display settings to change lockscreen or icons.
Still want more?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Checkout the extended bonus package for a lot more stuff: additional
ringtones, wallpapers, boot images, boot animations, BadaDroid patch,
etc.....
Attention CFW modders:
Due to some heavy reorganisations some stuff that was previously in CSC://CSCsfs/SystemFS and in SHPAPP is now inside the FFS file. Keep that in mind when editing it yourself using my tutorials!
Old Stuff:
Old stuff (not recommended, but if you need it...) is still available from the old thread. Also, China liteRemix v4 and China liteRemix ZCLC2 v3.99 'Classic Design' are still available.
BTW: Again, I don't mind if you 'steal' from this one. In fact, I'd rather be flattered.
Samsung Market trouble?

great work, these lite remixes are very polished! What exactly is the purpose of the China remix? Is it to add new features like auto silent and ip calling? Because those are cool but the choice of languages is unfortunately restricted. It would be awesome if more languages could be added to the CSC

It's actually for two things:
To have China-only features such as auto silent mode and IP calling
Cause a lot of people think that the China base FW is more stable and faster than all others.
As for the second point - I think that's correct, there is a little more stability and speed, but at the downside of bad languages compatibility.

Core Patches?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the only Bada 2.0 CFW available, the liteRemix provides you with the
possibility to hot swap the core components of your FW. Turkish JVLC2
and indian DDLC2 are provided as alternatives (don't worry, your set
language won't be affected by using the patches). If you're experiencing
slowdowns and/or lag in your installation, why not try this? Check the
core patches folder (in zzz_extras) for instructions! Again, hot
swapping the FW core components is done without any data loss.
Trouble Updating Samsung Market / Account?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This CFW contains slimmed down versions of the Samsung Market and
Account. There are good results for most people, but for some there's
also trouble with the internal updating mechanisms. If you're among the
second group: Just try the Samsung Market patch included in the
zzz_extras folder. This will setup Samsung Market and Account the same
way they are setup in Hero355's Turko CFW v8.1, which is the most
compatible (although not the most 'lite') solution for most users.
I Want The Wave III Lockscreen / The Original Icons!

XXLG1 is the newest one (but not the best imho). XX is the country code, L means the year (2012), G the month (July), 1 is the revision number (for multiple releases within one month.

JVLC2 (core patch included in the archive), which is what I'm using, too. Everyone always wants the newest one (XXLG1), that's why the liteRemix is based upon XXLG1 and the core can be switched via a simple patch.
Although the JVLC2 is older than the XXLG1, it comes from another development string. Not as different from XXLG1 as chinese ZCLC4, but still different. So, technically it is not worse or outdated compared to XXLG1. Also, keep in mind that there was little to none development from XXLA1 to XXLG1.
The DDLC2 core, btw. is very similar to the JVLC2 core.
If you don't mind the occasional bug and special quirks of the chinese FW and also not being able to use T9 in other languages than english, the China liteRemix ZCLC4 is also worth a try. I think this is the smoothest among the four base FWs.

I think JVLC2, but your results may vary, depending on varying usage. Example: I might text much, but you might play many games - so possibly a different core is better for you. If you're unhappy with smoothness/stability you can always switch without data loss.

Don't change the FFS - that problem seems to be connected with something else. Maybe the users here can help.You may also try switching to a different core (which won't lead to data loss).
Removed Polaris, YouTube and Google from main installation.
WHY DID YOU REMOVED YOUTUBE??
This was the best app for bada

Polaris is available via the bonus pack. And Google: That thing took space (it's actually a widget) and wasn't that useful at all - the live panel search or starting your browser of choice (Dolfin or Opera) do the job as well. As for Youtube: I disagree. You know, Youtube was never an app but only a Dolfin shortcut . Anyways, with the right MenuCFG you can have it back, but you'd have to full flash again. Interested?
Can you please share the default theme from your FW separately as an .smt file ? Thanks a lot.

New stuff in China liteRemix XXLG1 v4.2/v4.2.1:

Additional patch to solve Market upgrade trouble included in main archive.
Switched to Sofienne's 'Classic Style' quickpanel.
A customizable CFW:
The Lite Remix is the most customizable CFW available for the GT-S8500. Customizable means: easily customizable by you. Once you did the basic install of the Lite Remix, you may choose which apps are installed, which apps show up in the main menu, how much app memory you have free, which lockscreen (original or new) to use, boot animations, boot screens and much more - all this without losing any data and having to set up everthing anew.

Basic instructions for installing the China Lite Remix:
Code:
HOW TO FLASH THE LITEREMIX
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Full Flashing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[1] Select from the CSC folder the CSC file fitting your needs (check
the accompanied text file).
[2] Select from the MenuCFG folder the menu configuration fitting your
needs (optional, only if you want Java apps in the main menu).
[3] Check the ETC_Patches folder in zzz_extras for additional
customizations. ETC patches are to be used in the ETC field of
MultiLoader when full flashing (again, optional).
[4] Full flash with CSC, MenuCFG, ETC patch and the files from this
directory.
[5] Still confused? You might want to use Google and search for a
flashing tutorial.
ETC Patches?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
ETC patches are a new development exlclusive to the liteRemix CFWs. They
are to be used in the ETC field of MultiLoader only when full flashing.
Using ETC patches you may patch aspects of the system that have been
previously unpatchable. Check out the ETC patches and their instructions
inside zzz_extras/ETC_Patches folder.
Music Hub, Caster, SevenIM, Widgets...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trouble with Facebook or SHP?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Use the MyAccounts patch from inside the folder called 'zzz_extras' (no
data loss). This should fix almost all issues regarding the Social Hub.
Some options inside the settings menu will be blank after using the
patch.
Trouble Updating Samsung Market / Account?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No problem, both are already included in themes. Just use the themes
section inside the display settings to change lockscreen or icons.
Still want more?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also, China liteRemix v4 and China liteRemix v3.99 'Classic Design' are still available.
BTW: Again, I don't mind if you 'steal' from this one. In fact, I'd rather be flattered.
Updated, added Wave 2 versions!
"Theme Crash" issue fix
If you're experiencing crashes (Wave 1 version only!) after installing themes from the Market, there's a fix now: Grab the patch from here.
Patch flash using these...
Rsrc_S8500_Open_Europe_King_Fix.rc1 for the XXLG1 core
Rsrc_S8500_Open_Other_King_Fix.rc1 for the JVCL2 and DDLC2 cores
Rsrc_S8500_Open_China_King_Fix.rc1 for the ZCLC2 core
Have fun!
Updated to v4.2.1 (bugfix release only!).
