Hi there, the new all-in-one tools in the development section can simply un-root your nexus 7 if you want to return your nexus 7 for warranty. If I were you, I'd wait for the 15 day warranty to end before rooting just to avoid any hassle. Most issues would be noticed by that time anyway
One more question, I've only ever had an htc. Fo any other device like the galaxy nexus and this tablet do I have to get some sort of "s-off"?

I say, not to worry about any of that, actually I just rooted my nexus 7 yesterday using the nexus 7 toolkit and no problems so far

This would be illegal and you couldn't port it like Android. At least not very easily. Best bet is to wait for the ARM version to get out (if it even does, which is doubtful) and then attempt to port it yourself. Still wouldn't be legal either way.

Has anyone successfully done it? Just wanna make sure the old process still works on the new device

I should imagine its the same. If i had a 32gb i would just go ahead and o it. But thats me

I read a thread that someone successfully did it. I think they used wugs toolkit but I could be mistaken.

Awesome thanks... something to do while hurricane Sandy's outside..

The 32gb is identical to every other n7 except for the memory. No reason it shouldn't work.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
yeah the same with the sgs3 had the 16 then got the 32 same method.

Yes I was able to root mine right away using the Nexus 7 Toolkit found in the Android Development Forum. Easy Peasy. Option 8 in the kit does it all for you: unlock, root, busybox, etc.
I would love to see multi user on the nexus 4..I think it wouldn't be hard since it's already in 4.2... think it would make sense for doing different setups like different launcher, icon packs, theme etc..I wonder if it's just a line or lines of code to turn it on and/ or is any body up for the challenge!!?

Isn't that why we can make backups?

My nex 7 has it. You are sure you can't make other users already?

Multi-user support is only available on tablets. Nokia has a patent on multi-user support on phones.
I am sure a build.prop edit can fix it.

That is more for switching ROMs ...not having different setups (launcher, icon packs etc)

Exactly.. doesn't mean we can't figure a way to get it on our phones
Hmm I don't think a build. Prop edit will do it but I'll check

Well its only for tablets, I think the reason for that being tablets are more family and sharing, whereas phones are a personal device. Why would you want to share your phone?

I don't see anything in build.prop specifically disabling multi-user mode. Looks like I was wrong.

Did you go into the settings under users? On my nex 7 it is there in the top right.. Add user.. very easy to miss.

Ah I see. I didn't know that. I thought it was a 4.2 thing.. You are right though. I have no need for it on my phone.

Would be nice to have multi-users for testing and demo purposes.

Bored, trolling or no way to imagine use cases when multi-users may be handy?
If I want to show something to a client on my Nexus 4 (or any other device) without providing access to my apps and data?
or
If I'm willing to give it to my 3-4 years offspring for a video or a game, without risking my contacts, notes, mails?
(just 2 of many)

This is the only reason I would need it, but it is a good one. If my 5 year old wants to watch a movie or play a game I wouldn't have to worry about her screwing up my home screen or deleting apps like she has been known to do.
I believe Paranoid to be the answer. That's if you don't mind rooting.
Great example above and the most used I'm sure.

Have you tried on Nexus 7
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fivehellions.android.muappshare
Requires root.
Removes some of the limitations of the present 4.2 multi-users' policies.
