Hi all.
I have an Galaxy S - i9000 in front of me, which shows a fake IMEI eg. 0049xxxxxxxxxxx. There is no previous made backup of /efs content (nv_data.bin e.t.c.). Now the phone has the firmware 2.3.6 (baseband I9000XXJVU). Bluetooth is working fine, wireless is working, too.
I red many posts in the forum, but nothing specific, like (howto recover the IMEI on i9300 with QPST). Is there a similar tool like QPST? How can I recover the lost IMEI?
Whenever this happens to me i flash jvu thru odin or any other stock rom to get this back.

Thanks for the answer. I'll try it out.
I have flashed JVU through Odin, still nothing.
What will happen, if I restore a backup from another i9000 efs?
Thanks for the help.

Try a solution from My Android Solutions
But First powerdown, pull out Battery, SIM CARD, and EXT.SD card, press power button for a minute, than powerup without SIM and Ext.SD Card, after flashing and reboot , insert them back
Tips before Flashing:-
Backup all your important files, contacts, SMS, game data, images etc to PC or Ext SD card. or make Nanadroid Backup If you have CWM
Backup your EFS Folder to PC or Ext SD card
Enable USB Debugging on Phone. Touch menu> Settings> Applications> Development>
Charge your battery to more than 50% before you attempt any sort of flashing.
Disable Samsung KIES when using Odin. Kill Kies.exe, KiesTrayAgent.exe, & KiesPDLR.exe using Task Manager on PC
Use only ROM and solution for your model and Wipe x3
similar problem... nothing helps until now
We bought a GT-I900 with Android 2.3.4 (I9000zsjpj).
We installed cyanomod 9 (stable mode), after initialization the device looks fine (probably), then we installed the Gapps and the device stopped working.
We tried to go back a version with the backup, and then we got color stripes...
At the end we were able to enter into download mode, with a dongle. And install GB and we upgraded to cyanomod 10 with the appropriate Gapps.
The phone "works", but he lost the IMEI, the home key does not work, no sounds (nither microphone) and no GPS.
Before the first installation we backup the EFS with Nitrality and we kept the folder outside the device, but the restore is not working.
We also tried to install JVU with Root, but it did not solve the problem.
Moving the nv_data.bin and/or nv_data.bak from the backup to the efs folder did not solve the problem (nv_data.bin.md5 and nv.log files does not exist in the backup or in the efs folders).
If anyone can help .....

yup, read this and check your IMEI as to what phone you have.
I think you got conned with an M110S , so to solve your problem follow the above post guide.

That was a problem. TNX!!
I followed the instructions of the repair kit, but after the second stage it could not enter and stay in the DL mode, it enters without a problem to the DL mode, but after a few seconds switches to the recovery mode. (Battery fully charged). I can not keep it in DL for more than few seconds.
(Problem were solved- it did recognize theSIM, the home key, and the sounds are back.....).
Can I take those seconds and start the third stage flash via Odin or it sticking? There is another solution?
Or: is it really necessary to pass the third stage (if the phone works now)? Of course I want to upgrade the firmware version, and I'll need the DL mode for that too.

hmm, did not get what you were saying, you said problem solved, so i assumed you had a working phone. must have misread your earlier post
so your download mode changes? is it rebooting into recovery mode by itself? or the the triangle man with spade changes from english to korean ?
if its rebooting , try using ADB or tools to boot into download mode use guide in My Android Solutions

The download mode changes from english to korean (this does not bother me) and it is rebooting into recovery mode by itself (after few seconds in download mode). I'll try what you suggest.

Xsenman, TNX again.
Apparently the mistake was, of course, mine: I pressed the three buttons, as in I9000. By pressing only the home key+power, the download mode worked fine.
I installed the Say_cm7_0921.
It works fine, but for now the camera can not capture video (It crashes when I switch from stills to video). And I manage connecting to the computer only after instaling "auto mount your sd card" from the market.

I had gingerbread before all the problems, it has some problems in the Hebrew interface, that was the reason that I tried the CM7.
But the video camera does not wort, neither the bluetooth, gps and headphones. Although it has a cute interface (and the Hebrew works fine) I think I'll need to chenge it...

I'm flashing my phone very easy and it never ever wiped or something sd-ext. It always says skipping, cause there is no sd-ext.
Put stock rom in sd card (whole dload folder) and boot your device with VOL+ and VOL- pressed while pressing power on) It should update. Then after that install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229326 then after installing boot it with VOL+ and power button. Delete caches, and then flash the custom rom .
I also uploaded ORIGINAL, Stock image partition files http://www.mirrorafile.com/files/6GV300HE/image.rar
you can try to overwrite yours with them (of course backup yours) Put your device in purple screen, connect it with pc, and put those files in it. Maybe it will help.

Help!
How format?
Hi all,
For the last couple of days I've been trying to flash my Galaxy S with ICS333 using the following guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25722239#post25722239
-----------
"3. Enter Download Mode, open Odin, check Re-Partition, press PIT button and browse for the PIT file, press PDA button and browse for the PDA file in the ROM folder, press PHONE button and browse for the PHONE file, press CSC button and browse for the CSC file and finally press START button.Wait till it`s finished and when the phone reboots disconnect from PC.
4. When the phone has booted into the ROM and you see the wizard screen just enter download mode again, plug your phone into the PC, open Odin, press PDA button and browse for the CF-Root kernel, press START button and wait for it to finish. After the phone reboots disconnect it from the PC, let it boot and when you`re in the ROM, set your phone to mass storage mode from settings>wireless & network>usb settings and plug your phone into the PC, copy the ICS333 ROM to your internal SD root location, assuming you have downloaded it from here : http://goo.gl/LuXvH and disconnect from PC.
5. Enter CWM, Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache and flash the ROM.You will notice the phone will reboot immediately because it will switch kernels, from CF-Root to Semaphore, prior to flashing the actual ROM.As a result, it will boot loop or get stuck on Semaphore logo, so just force it into CWM using the 3 key combo (no need to take the battery out). Now flash the rom again and wait till it`s finished and > Reboot to system!."
-----------
After performing stage 3 I waited for the phone to restart and understand that I should have seen a ROM/Wizard appear. This did not happen and now the phone just goes straight into CWM upon boot.
Whilst in CWM I get the error E:Can't mount /sdcard/ and non of the functions work. What should I do next? I've had a search around these and other forums but can't work out what to do. Don't want to just keep trying random things and end up making the situation worse.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thanks again

Sorry to be a bother again but I now have a new problem. I have updated to CM 9 android version 4.0.4 which appears to function correctly but gives me no access to the sim card (can't see any phone numbers/contacts and won't connect to the network).
I understand that this usually has something to do with EFS settings (I took a backup of the EFS using GPS Aids before I flashed) which I have tried to restore using Nitrality but with no success.
I have checked the sim card in another phone and it works correctly.
Starting to think that this flashing business is not for me.
Any ideas as to what I should try next?
Thanks
Louis
You can change the efs folder via terminal but I found the easiest way (I had incorrect imei on hellybean) was..
Flash stock GB via Odin. Flash semaphore kernal via Odin. To get cwm.
Boot into recovery and flash cm7, boot into recovery and flash cm9, boot into recovery and flash cm10.
Obviously make sure you have cm versions on the card first. Efs corrupts when you don't flash in order example GB to JB missing out ICS. Doesn't happen all the time but that's usually the cause.
Worked like a charm for me.

ROM with 3 files: PDA - Phone - CSC
Hey guys.
I've had one of the latest nightly versions of CyanogenMod 10 on my phone. I tried to install the rEmIxRoM just to see how it looks and if I'd like it, but I didn't like it. So I decided to install the latest Slim Bean version out there. But when I flashed the .zip to install, the screen became dark and then the Semaphore logo came up, and nothing happened for a few minutes. I tried the 3-button combo to get back to the Clockwork Mod, but it didn't work also. Now my phone is stuck on the Semaphore logo every time I try to turn it on, with no option to do anything.
What am I supposed to do? Please guide me...
It's too easy.
just flash 3 files (Stock GB ROM) with Odin and then your phone will boot and ok.
I'm sorry but I don't really understand... I don't know much about these things.
I don't know how to work with Odin, I don't even have it on my PC, I usually just install roms via recovery. Is there a guide that can tell me exactly what to do? Because it sounds easy but I don't even know where to get these 3 files from...
By the way I can't get my phone to CWM or download mode. Both just end up showing me a weird battery graphic (it doesn't mean that the battery is empty)

I'm not stuck in the same situation (back on 2.3.6 JW8 again) but the above mentioned point is not so easy.
I tried 4.0.4 / 4.1.1 myself (SlimROMs of CM9 / CM10) and it seems to run fine but I lost my IMEI every time.
Even with root access you're not able to make a full backup (e.g. with ES File Explorer, Ghost Commander, Total Commander). The only solution I fould was to make a sector disk dump (dd) via terminal which is way to much effort for a quick flash.
Or are there some other tricks for this?

yes, read efs problems and solutions in My Android Solutions
Everything is working for me now, except for one problem: some apps can't be downloaded from the Google Play. I keep getting the "App could not be downloaded due to an error (942)". When I try to access them through the PC browser, it's saying that the app is incompatible with my I9000, even though I used it on my previous roms. The big question is why does this happen only with some apps, but with other apps there's no such problem?
Hi,
I have now rooted my phone and seemed to have removed the issue I was encountering. (IMS Framework)
However I have a few issues since rooting and am a bit unsure if what to do next
Any help to the following points is greatly appreciated. I am complete noob so only plain English and links to idiots guides please!
1) as a recent post states, I am also suffering from frequent restarts. They are quick restarts, only a few seconds (not like a hard reset etc) however there seems to be no specific reason or app causing it.
Posts suggest removing Knox might help?
I have a few root removal apps installed now so can someone tell me which Knox apps/programs can be safely removed???
2) when I press side button to unlock the phone, the screen sometimes freezes and doesn't respond. I have to press lock button again to lock, again to unlock then it works again
Not a major problem but annoying none the less
Any ideas??
3) I rooted to save battery by deleting the vodafone virus IMS framework however battery is still not as it good as it was before IMS framework. It doesn't drain within a few hours but again it's annoying.
Android system and OS are currently using more battery than the screen
So being a noob I'm. It sure where to go from here....
I've done a backup from nandroid manager app (in a cwm format it seems) and downloaded rom manager however CWM installer hasn't worked (something on the install guide says something about Samsung devices needing to install something but I can't find a guide on it)
(Please also confirm, the back up I did to external sd card has a few files including an md5 file, a few tar files and recovery img file. Is this correct? Is this the folder I would use to restore if I encounter issues later on??)
So I'm thinking I unroot and reinstall factory settings through kies etc (guide how to do this would be useful??!!)
Then root again and install a new rom (a nice clean one without the bloatware etc)
EDIT. IVE READ HOW TO INSTALL CWM FROM ODIN SO WILL TRY THAT.
QUESTION THEN BECOMES : WILL INSTALLING A CUSTOM ROM FIX POINTS 1,2 and 3????
Am I overthinking this or is there a quicker fix to my issues above?
Any help appreciated!!
1. If you have a custom recovery then flash knox removal script. Then you don't have to delete it manually. For example > http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/scriptknoxout-complete-brutal-knox-t2807172
2. Could be related to point 1.
Flash the script and it should solve most of your problems.
For your last question. There is no point in unrooting and using Kies if you want a custom rom. A custom rom will fix point 1, 2 and 3.
