Hi! I got my MX couple of months ago, and I can tell I love it. Anyways the only things I wasnt happy with were the battery life and reception, and so I updated my phone's flyme os yesterday. (from 1.0.3 to 1.1.1)
I assumed the update would fix the issues ( as I think it did for the reception ) but the battery seems to be even more horrible after the update.
It seems that after the update my MX didnt even completely charge up. I put my phone on the charger at around 2:30 and unplugged it at 13:30, so it was on power for about 11 hours, but it didnt even charge itself completely in addition to the fact that it stopped actually charging at around 8 o clock as we can clearly see from the "today" screenshot.
Then comparing it to the "yesterday" screenshot with 1.0.3 we can tell it charged itself up completely.
Ive got the new 2core model with the updated 1700 mah battery (which should have the best battery life of all of the mx models) and this makes me wonder what is the battery like on the other mx's if this is normal. And yes my phone was showing the charging animation on the screen during the time I mentioned earlier in the message.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try this right away. Flyme will backup all data, right?
Except apps. If you have it enabled.
1.0.3 here, quad core model, my battery is fine, gets me over a day with normal use.
However I admit that it could be better.
Its also well known that 1.1.1 contained a bug that ate battery, so stay away from that firmware.
I didn't test 1.1.3 yet.

Thanks for the info. Im currently on 1.1.3 and the battery seems even worse than it was. I really dont know what to do - the battery runs out in just couple of hours.
Hows your reception? Do you get good speeds all the time ? Did the update have effect on that? Mines horrible.. ;s

My MX arrives this week and I'll be measuring the battery carefully to see if I can't find a replacement. (Yes, I realize it's not supposed to be "user replaceable", but the teardowns confirm that it is if you've got the patience and dedication. Here's hoping there is a higher-capacity battery in the same form factor.) Apps are nice, but more juice is better.

1.1.5 is out, do you think I should try that? Theres no thing mentioned about battery in the changelog but there's some magic in updates sometimes, isn't there?
Hehe that's true. I use 1.1.5 and it feels pretty good.
1.1.5 is nice, however there is a bug in android terminal emulator.
The osk wont work until you change the input type setting to word based.
I also suggest prerooting the image, Ubuntu works nicely on it too.

Yeah I heard about that bug, but that's an easy fix isn't that Also never ran into the need of terminal on my MX.
There was someone on meizume forums telling he could upload a prerooted image of 1.1.5, and as I have 0 experience on how to preroot the file I wish he could do that. You see I'm a newbie - don't just tell me to do things, please tell me HOW to do the things aswell ^^,
Kedros uploaded one already. You can just fetch his.
Battery is 71mm x 35mm x Unknown Depth. If I can find a few batteries matching the length-width, I can start trying to transplant them into my MX quad core.
Please keep us updated on that.
I would love to stick a higher capacity battery in there.

Hi there
I just like to share my experience with battery drain in both JVK and JVB and give you a possible fix.
I experienced battery drain both in jvk and jvb and when you go setting - battery check, I would see high android OS - up to 60 percent which just drank the juice out of my phone.
I've decided to test all the apps, deleting one by one in order to locate which app was causing this problem and I found it to be "software update".
So here is a possible fix for you guys who are experiencing similar problem.
Go to setting - manage apps - all apps - find software update - delete data
In both JVK and JVB it solved my battery drain problem almost instanly.
I also did battery recalibration but doubt it played any part.
I hope above method will solve the battery drain problem.
P.S
does anyone know what exactly software update does?
and how to delete it completely off the phone.
I doubt I will be using OTA update or anything like that since I'm a big fan of odin.
Cheers
thanks man.
i'm checking it out, i really hope this solution works!
this is my second night in a row, where im going to sleep with exactly 89 percent battery and when i got up i saw the phone is at 8 percent.
made me so pissed i wanted to go back to my sony-erricsson from 2005

Hmm, this "fix" was kinda known a long time ago? (you can see it even in the thread called something with Android OS and few more) http://goo.gl/Hpc5a . And I think its the OTA update which does nothing currently. Hmm, am confused about your question. You ask what it does then you say you wont need it anyway .
And for example freeze it with titanium backup? Now when click the option it does nothing (no fc and phone works normally)

So you are wrong here . This thread is like the other ones for the ppl with high Android OS usage. 9 percent is ok.
Well if display is 61 , how many hours on? And what else is there? More data we need.
When I was on JVK, I was able to fix the android OS problem but had another one where after playing a graphically intense game, the CPU would not ramp back down when the phone went to sleep. That was draining the battery a lot for me and the only way to fix it was to reboot the phone. I'm back on 2.2.1
Disabling software update seems to not work for me also, im using stock Ginger (latest version - probably final) and after 1-2 days after flash Android os is taking 70% of battery :/
Looks like software update isnt the issue.

This research is completly based on previous posts here on xda by other members + based on my testing:
1. Get app CpuSpy from the market. Observe with it if your phone goes to "deep sleep" or not.
2. If you see your phone doesn't enter deep sleep, go to Applications, Battery use and close all applications like default Email app (that caused my phone to constantly use ~245Mhz of my CPU when idle), also check your widgets for various weather updates, ...
3. Apply latest franco kernel (with my experience, this kernel also improved my battery life)
4. Make sure you have turned off in Settings, Date & Time, "Automatic".
5. Disable data transfer under Wireless & Networks.
6. Set Brightness level to Automatic as screen drains the battery alot.
7. Apply the custom roms provided here (MIUI, Oxygen) which are based on Gingerbread (2.3), which also has better battery usage than FroYo (2.2), especialy on U8800.
Hope this helps for some people here

only the data connection otherwise ur right as hell
THE BIGGEST impact on battery life is as you all may know- DISPLAY. You can disable everything, but those things only takes 20-30% of battery everything else is for display. So.. turn ir off D Its very bad that all roms allows you only to minimize brightness to 11% but i want to minimize it even more, but they do not allow me. cause at nights 11% is too bright for me.
I even thinking to compile my own modified franco kernel just because of that DD But with MIUI rom it shows bull**** in battery usage.

AFAIK no. Franco stated that his kernel only works with 2.3 ROM. The stock one is 2.2.
I've been pondering over whether or not to upgrade to ICS now as the german version is released. My question is whether or not the battery life is similar to what you get with gingerbread. I've attached an image of what i get on a normal day, when i am at work and use my phone normally and not when i am sitting at home and never let my phone hit deep sleep!
Sure you get a lot of added features but battery life is what i really care about at i need to go sometimes two days without charge.
Got around 74 pct after 9 hrs of extreme light usage.

How does it compare to ICS hour by hour? any difference would you say?
I would skip this Samsung release of ICS. Samsung's interpretation of ICS is not terribly different then GB unless you run a different launcher. I thought battery life was worse on the German release. With the added risk of bricking a few have experienced, don't do it.
If you want try the ICS, go with this one;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627854
With this one, you can easily and safely role back to GB from a nandroid backup. This one does not have Touchwiz and the SPen is not fully functional as it is in TW.
I find battery better on GB personally but not by much when u compare it to the silky smooth quickness of ICS

Well, if wakelocks aren't the problem.. Then I don't know.. ICS battery life seems better in general, but GB shouldn't be that different (and wasn't for me me I used it). Not that your battery life is bad or anything, but it could be better. Like I said, your phone in deep sleep should hardly use battery at all.
Well looks like I will have to test it out and see the outcome, looks like I shouldn't get my hopes up.

I need stable blurred ROM with full functionality, so Nottachtrix seemed like a good choice. I use it for about 6 months and I'm convinced it's still the most stable among blurred ones.
I have 197 apps under "Downloaded" section.
I use only two apps for slight tweaking regarding performance. I disable apps I don't need to run on startup with Autostarts and I automated it with Tasker to switch to airplane mode between 23:00 and 8:00. That's all. No over/under-clocking/volting.

Have you read my second post in this thread? Have you seen attached screenshot in the very same post? If you do, I guess it's pretty clear what's my recipe. ROM + kernel + tweaking. Nottachtrix + faux123's kernel (1 GHz version) + mentioned apps.
On Neutrino 2.9 I get max 14 hours thats with light usage and wifi off most of the time, as soon as WiFi is on I just watch the percentage drop by the minute.

I recommend you to install BetterBatteryStats from Play or look here. Just take a little time to study how it works, read help/manual. I remember before I switched back to Blur based ROM I had similar issues and discovered by beforementioned app that it was well known Bluesleep issue. I fixed it eventually, but how.. I really can't recall, it was long time ago.

I didn't see your post, sorry! Which version of NottachTrix do you use? I was only able to find 1.3.1 on SamCripp's magic FTP server.
And also which version of Faux123 kernel? 024r or 026b1? Thanks a lot for pointing the way, cheers!

I recognize you to have the BAMFest Atrix of all Atrixes
So, I manually flashed the recent OTA. Felt like sharing what I have noticed.
For one thing, EVERYTHING is snappier. Going into recent apps is fast, home screen and apps don't take forever to load. That's a definite improvement. If it changes after running for awhile, I'll update.
Google Now's Always On voice recognition now works. I couldn't get it to work while away from the Google Now launcher before the update.
Uncertain about battery consumption with browsers yet. I'm hopeful, and the back of my tablet not being a toaster oven all the time while browsing on Xda gives me hope, but again, this is me just being hopeful.
Nothing for enabling the notification LED yet. Weird.
All I can see. Share what you've seen here.

Thanks for the impressions. Hopefully the excessive power usage while using browser is fixed or will be soon.
I will note though that even though it shouldn't need to be used to avoid using Chrome, I think that using Tapatalk to browse XDA is a better experience. IMO, of course.

I noticed this too and im glad it wasnt only me. Certain websites cause the tablet to heat up, sometimes taking up as much as 40-50% CPU in the background until i force stop it.
Just flashed and rerooted. I hope its smooth now

Any updates on the heated section next to the camera where the processor is at?

That heat is coming from the processor, that just means it's just under heavy load.
Sadly, WiFi 802.1x auth still doesn't work (PEAP) and the "Sign-in to Wifi network" screen is still blank for me. (Tested with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller at work.)

I've noticed the same thing. Basically the stutter and lags have pretty much been fixed. For those wondering the home screen refresh has also been fixed.
I've been testing battery life today in combination with the chrome beta browser. Where I used to get 4/5 hours of sot with a single charge I'm now at 4.15 minutes of sot with 52% of battery left.
The new update has done wonders for the n9 and it just shows how much lollipop is still in it's infancy and still needs some updates to get everything sorted out. I'm sure it's the same for the Nexus 6.

IS this refresh the re-draw of the launcher when turning the device orientation in an app and then exiting?

I think he is referring to the re-draw that seems to occur randomly when returning back to the home screen. Based on the impressions I may just flash the factory image to LRX21Q if these improvements are widespread. I still haven't received the OTA and can't sideload it because my tablet is still on the pre-release BL for some reason.

Was never a problem with my nexus 9. Working flawless.
It feels faster for sure, doesn't seem to get as hot either but maybe it does.
Yes I definitely see the improvement. I was one of the first buyers on the first day. But the unit I got has defected NFC chip. I returned it and got a replacement. Latest update definitely fixed the stutters and lags. I can vow for this.

Is this under heavy usage?
Overheating and Screen Flickering
Do you think that the overheating issue near the camera and the issue where the screen is flickering when the device is not at full brightness, can be fixed by a software update or a firmware update?

Just a heads-up, this OTA provides a VERY significant performance improvement - there was a Kernel regression that they fixed on this build regarding memory cgroups. Its very noticeable while using the tablet with this new patch.
I haven't noticed a difference yet but I didn't do s full wipe when I flashed.
