Hi,
Can Any one please let me know what is the user Access memory for the Nexus-4 8GB and 16 GB?
Thanks in Advance.
I imagine it would be around 6GB for the 8GB model & 13GB on the 16GB model.

Thanks for the reply,
Right now i am using Sony xperia P and planning to buy the Nexus 4, Here in Xperia P the 16 GB was divided to 2 GB-OS, 2-GB internal Memory for Apps, and finally users Accessible memory is 11 GB .
My concern is will the same Applicable to Nexus -4 ?
I think its slightly less. My 16GB galaxy nexus was 13GB

8 gb will 5 gb for the user to use and the 16 gb will five around 12gb
Get the 16 even if you dont play games or use cloud storage.
Yeah it'll give you about 11GB's.
It's 12,92 as to be seen at several screnshots around the interwebs.
unlike other devices, theres no dividing between user storage and apps. you'll get around 13GB to use for both

Okay I tried to search the forum but it was giving me "token expired" errors even though I tried searching multiple times and even after reloading. So I'm sorry if this is a repost or has already been asked!
Anyway the Nexus 7 gives has 13gb of 16gb free for use. Is there anyway this can be further increased?

no. the reason for this is android takes up a bit of that space.
Nope no way. Its partitioned for the operating system. Just like we have 1GB of ram but only 900mbs is usable.

Hungry little buggers....
Enjoy it while it lasts... I'm at 3 gb of 16 free... almost time for the external flash drive set up.

Possibly with LVM if you have the time and knowledge

check out the storage space used on a new desktop or laptop pc as soon as you bought it.. You will see some of it taken up .. by windows there is also a Recovery partition (often hidden from user ) as well as a cache partition boot partition and partition tables also take up space on the storage disk.
This device was designed to use cloud base storage .I for one think its a great idea.. But i would love for some of the games to be able to play across OTG ...
Thank you for all your replies. I guess I'll be relying on OTG for my games and movies then. Already ordered the cable bought the app

32GB Nexus 7 Storage Space on Arrival
Guys,
I fully realise that on arrival (new) that the N7 will have a certain amount of storage used for the OS, Installed App's etc. Roughly how much should this be? I received my 32GB N7 yesterday and on looking at available storage it was 27.63 GB so effectively 4.5GB used. Is this normal as it seems a lot for the ROM and few apps!
AW: 13gb of 16gb free.

Quick primer in storage...
Manufacturers and operating systems use two different, but both technically correct, methods of calculating storage capacity. 32GB translates to roughly 29.8GB a far as the software is concerned. As such, you've overestimated the storage used by the system files by over 2GB.

32gb is actually about 29.5 so that seems normal.

16 Gig USB flash drive gives u 14 Gig of free space ....

It is simply due to the fact that there are two different methods of measuring storage capacity. Hard drive manufacturers report a gigabyte as one billion bytes. Software, on the other hand, uses a binary system to measure capacity and reports 1,073,741,824 bytes as one gigabyte. As such, a completely empty 16GB drive is going to only show as roughly 14.8GB.

Its the same on every electronic as previous poster explained. My 32GB iPod touch has somewhere around 28GB available, 32GB Zune HD has around 28GB, 32GB micro SD card has some 28-29GB available, and we won't even mention how much is "missing" from my laptops 500GB HDD.

I wonder if there is anything that can be safely deleted to increase the storage space of the nexus 8 or 16 models? Don't know if this has already been looked in to

People were looking into USB OTG but the nexus 4 doesn't support it (correct me if i'm wrong)
USB otg is not supported as stated above.
As its a nexus device there isn't 'bloatware' as such so you can't create space deleting that.
I'd say there not much, if anything, you can do to create space
Sent from my Nexus 4.
I think some custom ROMs use up less space, thus giving more usable space to the user

Great thanks for the info.
I opted for the 32GB Kingston Wi-Drive. It works great.

It just has to be on the same WiFi network, I think. Networked storage.
Dears,
Plz i need help , i have HTC desire s and need to buy a modern tablet but have no experience about samsung products , i heared about samsung note 10.1 N8000 16 GB , is it nice and good to buy ??
another question , can i install applications in SD card like HTC or only on internal memory ?
i mean is the 16 GB one is enough or your advise to buy the 32 GB one ?
thanks in advance and appreciate your response
Get 32gb one.... Though you can use a 64gb card and using a mod use that as your internal memory...
Depending on how you use it depends on whether you should get or not. If you have a need for the s-pen then yes, its a good thing to get but if you aren't going to use this AWESOME feature there are other items that do everything else for cheaper.
Oh, and if you want phone functionality in a tablet the SG Note 10.1 (N8000 only) is the only tab that does this out there natively using a sim card.
I have the 16gb,but I would also recommend that you get the 32

Please do yourself a favor and get the 32gig Note, and stay away from the 16gig Note. If your internal memory fills up, bad things will happen to you. So, please go buy the 32gig model, okay?

Seeing as Samsung didn't mention a 64GB version during the official Note 4 announcement, I doubt there will be one any time soon, if ever.

Let me know if you find anything , I have googled it nothing much . Found an Infographic Stating there are two storage options 32/64 GB
Get you a good microsd card, I just got a 128 gb SanDisk microsd card...the latest versionm..it's very fast with reads and writes
Not sure why there would be a need for 64gb internal storage option when sd card can expand to 128gb as well as the fact most people have free cloud storage of many gig as well
only 24GB

As far as I know you can't move apps to SD card
That`s the reason I didnt buy yet Note 4. The internal storage is too little for this flagship.
No one`s know if will be in the next 2-3 months a 64GB ?? More I cannot wait.
The 64gig models are usually very rare because Samsung takes its sweet time to release them and when they do, its in very little quantity. If you are desperate to load 10+ huge games on your device, just move everything else to the microSD and commit your internal just for these apps. 32GB is enough really...
Maybe for you, the internal storage is used better for 4k recording, with microSD it lags sometimes (or when I modify [they are some hacks already] the bitrate to higher I dont want to think what can happen to a microSD)
hi guys
have a question

All galaxy tabs come with 16 or 32 gigabytes internal storage. Not sure if you have to much stored. Check your settings or hook up to your computer, go to my computer and right click on your tablet and go to properties and it will tell you how much space is available.

The 7" model comes in 8GB of Storage. So it is quite likely that the 4.85GB is all he has and the rest is for the system.
You should into a micro sd card
