I tried so many methods to root my phone, but still not work:crying:
Can anyone teach me how to root it ? My phone is L7 P705 v10e, please....

Hi guys
Im in the same boat, it was an auto update to v10e and after spending weeks searching and trying myself (i've had two previous andriod based phones, both rooted running CFW and up graded to gingerbread) but this, i dont know, seems weird. I'm not to savvy with ICS.
I tried rolling back to v10a but it wouldnt allow me. So thats out of the question. If anyone else has any input on this it would be greatly appreciated!

its the exact same phone mate, there are only small difference in the hardware with additions the p700 has for the europian market rather then the australian market over here. Firmware is the same, OS is the same.

(1a) I just rooted my Rogers LG-P705g, V10e-AUG-10-2012 (originally came with V10c if I remembered correctly but I updated it like you did) using the easy way described in the following thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906133).
(1b) Verify if you have LG-P705g USB drivers installed on your computer. For me, Windows 7 can not find or installed the driver successfully. So I have to go to the following website (http://www.lg.com/au/support-mobile/lg-Optimus-L7-LGP705); click on "SOFTWARE UPDATE" tab in the middle of the page and click the "DOWNLOAD" button under "Install the USB DRIVER - USB DRIVER for Windows". Install the software after download finished.
(2) Go to your phone "Setting"; scroll down to "Connectivity" > "USB connection type" > seletct "PC software"
(3) Go to your phone "Setting"; scroll down to "Developer options" > select "USB debugging"
(4) Download the "What you desire!.7z" from the link in (1a) to you computer, extract the file using program like winrar (www.rarlab.com).
(5) Connect your phone to your PC
(6) Open the extracted folder "What you desire!.7z" from (4) > "ROOT LG OPTIMUS L7" > double click on "RunMe"
(7) type 1 to root
(8) Rooting process starts; after about 10 seconds, it asked me to restore something; press restore data from your phone.
(9) After another 10 seconds, phone rebooted....waited...some message stating voice control stopped...phone rebooted again...back to home screen.
(10) Download Root Checker from app store and verified the device has root access!
Thats what im talking about! I will try all of this and let you know, the only thing i didnt do during my attempts was update the USB drivers, so i'll give that a crack and see how we go.
Thanks a million man for the efforts. :good:

Thats what the whole thread is about
The silent update that went to v10e was pretty annoying, if you use the method described that was told to me and just follow the instructions there is no reason why it shouldnt work. Theres no CFW in the files, so the only thing youre doing is gaining root access with it. However i can assure you 110% it works.
Speaking of, anyone know of any CFW for this yet? Or the other idea was a rollback to gingerbread so if anyone has done it and it works can you please let me know?

Had this problem to start with too... cruise over to the LG website, go to the support section for your phone (under phones, android phones, support, downloads) and grab the latest USB drivers (before you tell me you have them, windows 7 doesnt auto update so no.. you wont have the latest and you will need to update) and LG PC suit.
Once i had both of these installed and working fine (there should be NO errors in installation) then you wont have ANY issues at all... im speaking from personal experience with this and after updating everything there will be no problems unless you create them yourself
happy rooting!

Guys here is my dilemma:
my girlfriend owns a gt540 it was locked by her carrier provider and she decided to have it unlocked with her friend(who i dont think knows anything about android stuff) now her phone does not have a " Android Market" anymore and to make matter worst it does not have a "File Manager" as well. I really want to help her please she is still on 1.6 dough. i have already downloaded android market.apk but since doesnt have file manager i cant install it. what can i do?
I own a samsung galaxy s and i know how to fash my toy we have CWM where i can flash my zip file where can i get a tutorial in installing cwm?
TIA
i tried download mode does not work only showing emergency mode and when i inserted usb chord doesnt even show it was installed all it is saying is driver installing
firmware: 1.6
kernel: [email protected]#1
Software version: gt540-v10c
please i need help
i have used this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042639but when updating it says phone not found whta have i done wrong?please any one help me
go to settings, applications, development, and find and enable usb debugging. you'll need to find yourself the adb.exe executable from the android sdk. google it. once you have it, put the filemanager.apk, or whatever you have in its folder, connect the phone(it should say usb debugging connected), and run the adb executable w/ parameters as follows "adb install filemanagerml.apk", substituting the last bit for whatever program you have. that's it off the top of my mind, I'm going to bed. good luck.

RESOLVED hell yeah
I've got it updated to Android 2.1 (Firmware Version 2.1-update1). I've tried z4root, I've tried Universal Androot. Both fail. I've tried autorootapp2sd.bat file found in one of the development threads, that just hangs. I have the phone in USB Debugging Mode, z4root complains that it isn't on. I've posted the fail log for Universal Androot in this post. I also have the LGE USB drivers installed for this phone, installed directly from their ****ty Support Tool. That support tool, by the way, won't detect the phone either.
I get the feeling there's some common setting that everyone else has that I don't, and it's causing everything to fail. What could it possibly be?! This has frustrated me to no end.
Found a program on 4 shared called gt540 root, you will know it's right program it has root and unroot options tell me if can't find it (pm me and I'll send u it)
MY ANDROIDSKY
try with that h**p://w*w.4shared.com/file/ZTGfEaY8/rootgt540.html?
If you phone is using V20C firmware, the methods above wont work. Use SuperOneClick instead. This is reported to work with V20C.
Well I had 1.6 and flashed to 2.1+fastboot with KDZ then used fastboot and recovery methods to update to 2.3.5

Strange?
You could try a different computer, or a different USB port. You could try reapplying the update but that could lead to complicacy (bouncing off threads) if you don't know about ADB or other updating methods.
Sorry about the previous post. It worked so brilliantly on mine and I wanted to share. Pffft of course you used it hehe
I'm sorry buy did no one see my post, this guy is most probably using V20C, and rageagainstthecage (used in z4root, gt540 root pack) is patched. As I said, use SuperOneClick as that uses psneuter, which isn't patched.

First, thanks everybody for chipping in advice. I'm currently trying SuperOneClick, but it doesn't look promising. Currently stuck at "Waiting for device..." and the program is not responding. I have the phone USB'd into the computer, with USB Debugging on, and the SD card is NOT mounted (this is as per the instructions on the SuperOneClick website).
... Just waited a few more minutes. Still stuck
EDIT: Meant to ask - is there an easy way to figure out if I'm running this V20c firmware?
If you're having issues with "wait for device" or if RATC is looping, try this
Unplug your USB Cable
Go to Settings > Applications > Development
Uncheck USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable
Unplug your USB Cable
Check USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable
Click to collapse
Or try to reinstall drivers
Do you tried with the root package?

Go into Settings>About Phone and under software version it should say V20C_xxxxxxx
Also, when it gets stuck on waiting on device, unplug USB, and plug back in, if that doesn't work, reboot phone and try again. And if that doesn't work, I will create a script for you that you can try (using psneuter manually)
Hope it helps.

Does anyone know whether the GPE can be rooted yet? I got mine yesterday and would like to transfer my app data from the LGE to the GPE if possible. I'd also like to use some root only apps like Xposed so that I can force Immersive Mode for more apps (mostly games and book/magazine readers).
UPDATE: I thought I'd post instructions on how to do it here. Basically just follow the Nexus 5 guide posted here:
http://www.droid-life.com/2013/11/04...t-the-nexus-5/
but in step 6 (flashing an alternative recovery), use this TWRP recovery image:

Hopefully that helps others who are wanting to root their G Pad GPEs!

yes it can be, the bootloader unlock is the same as it's always been for nexus devices, there is a custom recovery for it already.
1. download recovery and superSU zip
2. unlock bootloader
3. flash the recovery
4. boot into recovery
5. flash the superSU.zip
6. profit

Thanks! I've never had a Nexus or GPE device before, so I'm more accustomed to the various non-standard ways to root devices and assumed the G Pad GPE might need something similar.
I assume this is the recovery you're referencing?

I tried to use the minimal adb included with dalingrin's simple root for the LGE but it says "error: device not found". Can you provide a pointer to the correct drivers for adb so I can perform steps 2-3?

i just downloaded the sdk ages ago and have been using that, you'll also need the fastboot drivers instead of just ADB
in fact if you watch a tutorial about how to root a nexus 5 it will be closer than any of the stuff posted right now
Sorry for being a bit dense here, but I'm still spinning my wheels a bit on this. I downloaded the latest ADK and had it install the Google USB Driver. I have USB Debugging enabled on the GPE tablet. Unfortunately neither "adb shell" nor "fastboot devices" recognize the device. Any tips on what important step I'm missing that will allow me to get past this first hurdle?
UPDATE (FIXED): Never mind. I had to update the device with the driver first as per this link: http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html#InstallingDriver

Just install the Android Development Kit and then have it install the USB driver. Don't forget to use Windows Device Manager (if using Windows) to update the driver for the G Pad while it's plugged in.

Yes, install "Google USB Driver" from the ADK, then open WDM and find your tablet which should say something like "Unknown Device" (can't remember the exact term), right-click and say "Update Driver...", and navigate to the driver that the ADK downloaded for you. Once that's updated, you'll be able to use adb and fastboot.
The links I've posted don't seem to be working properly, but if you Google "root nexus 5", go to the result on Droid Life called "How to: Root the Nexus 5" and follow the linked instructions on how to unlock the boot loader, then the instructions on that page on how to root the device. Like I said, the only difference is that you'll use the TWRP image for the G Tab GPE from this forum instead of the one referenced there.
I have tried and tried to root my S4 with MK2 (aka 4.3) but have had no luck. I have read and re-read for a good portion of today and yesterday before finally posting this message.
I have tried the saferoot method and most of the time it just sits on Sending files to your device... (I've let it sit for a good 10 minutes here) and every once in a while it will say that Root has failed, something about Permissions denied.
I have tried Kingo Root and Root also fails there. I have uninstalled and re-installed drivers but have had no luck with that either. I would love to get this rooted so that I can do the KitKat Root workaround here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692825&highlight=mf3
Can anyone help me? I updated my S4 from 4.2.2 (MF3) using Odin to the MK2 (4.3). Honestly I am a bit frustrated and really truly hope someone out there can help me.
Yes, I have done the USB debugging enabled too. This is not my first time rooting as I have rooted my tablet (Asus TF201) as well as my Samsung S2 Skyrocket with no problems on those ones.
Thanks! :fingers-crossed:

Yes, I have done the USB debugging enabled too. This is not my first time rooting as I have rooted my tablet (Asus TF201) as well as my Samsung S2 Skyrocket with no problems on those ones.
Thanks! :fingers-crossed:

Did you make sure the adb drivers are installed? Make sure it shows up if you type "adb devices" while in whatever folder adb is (i believe saferoot includes it, so just check that). Also make sure you accepted the prompts on your phone to trust the computer and what ever else comes up.

yah what sin said, im pretty sure saferoot comes with the drivers, the .bat file will tell you everything you need to do, also on your phone it will ask you to accept your pc's RSA Key, also make sure you goto Settings/"more" tab/about device then goto build number and just keep tapping it with your finger until it tells you developer options have been enabled, then back out of that menu and youll see a new menu called you guessed it "Developer options" then make sure its on, theres a toggle switch at the top, and then make sure there is a check box on USB Debugging, after you do that just go ahead and connect the phone to your PC and run the install.bat.
Happy Rooting
also... make sure u have the samsung drivers installed... and instead of just dbl clicking the .bat file... right click it and run as administrator.
i had to do that

Thank you all for your help. I went to run it. I have Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium. When I right click on it and run as administrator, it is now coming up with the message error: More than one device and emulator over and over again. I have nothing running in the background. In fact I went into Task Manager and killed everything in the background. I have the adb drivers as it shows up under my C: drive. I also just rooted my Mothers TF201 (Asus Transformer Prime) and needed ADB drivers installed for that so unless they use different ADB drivers. I'll google search it and re-install them. Anyone else have some suggestions.
Thanks again! :good:
Edit: By the way do I need to put the saferoot folder somewhere specific on my computer like in the adb folder or something? I just have it on my downloads folder on my desktop.
I GOT IT, I GOT IT, I GOT IT! Thank you all so much for all your help! I don't know what I did but when it kept giving me the error message I just ignored it for a while and it just started going all the sudden. That's okay by me I'll take it!
Thanks again all, I LOVE XDA, so helpful and wonderfully patient!
This guide is for use on rooted stock roms to restore the phone to a position where it will accept OTA updates.
Please note the following:
1. It does not wipe the /data/ partition of your device.
2. It will reinstall any bloat you have uninstalled including those apps that you carrier put into /data/
3. It will remove any files you have added to /system/ including root or other modifications
4. Any files you have "frozen" will stay disabled, you cannot unfreeze them without rooting again - this guide will be for a "full unroot" so there is an optional step below to unfreeze apps.
The Guide
1. Download LG PC Suite from LG's website - you must select model type before you do so, but as far as I can tell it downloads the same version regardless.
2. Update the app so it recognises the G3 - this should ask you to update automatically on opening the app, if not you can do it from the "help" menu.
(NB: if you have used some of the KDZ flashing methods on here you may have issues updating as your hosts file is probably altered to block the PC Suite gaining a connection).
3. Connect the phone via USB (the app allows for a wifi connection but this is very restrictive, you require a USB connection for this).
*OPTIONAL STEP* If you want to go back to a truly stock experience then unfreeze any apps you have frozen (I am unsure if having apps frozen will effect OTA installations, it should still work fine, in theory).
4. With the device connected go to the "phone" menu in PC Suite and select the option that says "Restore Upgrade Errors".
5. It will then scan your device, download the rom and begin flashing, this is all automatic without any further input from you, do not cancel it.
6. The phone will reboot when finished. You are now unrooted and unmodified and OTA's should work.
*OPTIONAL STEP* If you want to go back to 100% stock then its probably a good idea to factory reset your phone at this point - this will wipe your whole device (of course).
And there you have it, your quick(ish), painless method for being able to unroot to accept OTA's without requiring a wipe.
Nice thanks Lenny, that may be handy. I'm supposed to receive mine today from Amazon.de, will play around a lot with root / unroot
Strange. Every time I click on restore errors it hangs for 30 secs and then LGpcsuite exe stopped working message and it stops. Any ideas ? I'm using windows 7 64bit and all drivers installed, pc recognizes phone.

Could be a conflict with something else - to get it working for me I had to delete all traces of LG from the pc - all LG apps, drivers (including using USBDeview) and start over.
First of all, thank you for your detailed tutorial. Yesterday I have had the same idea... can someone confirm this theory... though there is no update for international version yet, someone with the korean model?

I tested this theory yesterday, albeit without an OTA - it does replace all modified and removed files in /system/ as well as removing any files you have added such as root or xposed.
There is no reason for the phone to continue to report that it has been modified, certainly if you take my final optional step and couple this restore with a factory reset.
Gotta love it when manufacturers make it simple to go back to 100% stock without any real messing around. Thanks for this :good:

Ok I fixed my issue, PC suite crashing by running it as admin on windows. When I run to "fix errors" it says I'm running latest version. When I check OTA on my phone there is an update which obviously don't run after download because I'm rooted. I'm out of ideas

fixing errors is a reflash to fix a problem, it shouldn't matter what version your on, are you sure you didn't click the check for updates button by error?

As I said I never get this option. It keeps on saying you have the latest version and that is it.

The latter screenshot, did it give you that message after "scanning the device"? It might be that it scanned your device, found nothing altered so then said you were ok?
Perfect
Lenny thx alot. I was waiting for that. Because I wanted to make sure I can have OTA and root.
great :highfive::good:

Weird, no idea why it won't be working for you, I have only been able to test on the D855 and have had no such issues.
Hopefully someone else who has the FK versions can shed some light.
Thats the thing. If its the phone version's (using Korean version) issue then how come the PC Suite recognizes it ?
