I have all of them except the one with eraser. You forgot the ET-S110EBEGSTA "S-Pen and Holder."
Of them, the one that feels best (not to hold but to use) is the BT S-Pen. It feels most natural against the display and doesn't feel draggy like the others sometimes can. The rest more or less feel the same against the display. The S-Pen and Holder feels best in the hand.
I have #3 and really like it.
I know that the microphone on the HM-5100 is designed for using the tablet as a phone but it would be great if somebody could design an app that functioned similarly to the LiveScribe Echo Smart Pen.
I've had this thing for a few years now and it's amazing for taking notes in seminars.

Yes. Just flip it over and erase - exactly like a pencil.
I have pen number 3. Would like to find a pen holder for my 10.1. Even though the s pen in the 10.1 is slightly larger it is not nice to hold for long periods of time.

When you say they feel draggy against the screen did you try the white tip that came with the note. Because the black and white is rubber and white is plastic so it just slides across the screen with no friction.

The S pen holder for the Note 1 doesnt support the extra pressure sensitivity, do that leaves the one with the eraser or the Bluetooth one.
But why would u need a pen with a mic if you already have one in the tablet?
That leaves the eraser one as the best.

Because holding a tablet up for a call, trying to put in earphones for a call is a hassle. With the BT S-Pen it can be left in the pocket, like a normal pen, while the tablet is in your bag. If a call comes through the pen vibrates to let you know about it and its a hell of a lot easier, not to mention quicker to answer a call by just hitting he answer button. A bluetooth headset would also suffice but who wants to be wearing that around all day....

I was using the Note on a flight recently before the door was closed so the person next to me saw me using the pen as a pen. When I got an incoming call and answered it with the pen my seat mate looked at me as if I was just let out.

It's really just a BT headset contained in a pen. It beeps and vibrates when you receive a call. By pressing the button on it you can initiate a call or use the S-Voice functions if you have it installed. It's good for occasional use. I wouldn't use it as my primary phone or even as a replacement for a BT headset if I was using the Note for a pre-planned conference call.
I just use the speakers. I know that won't always work, but neither will a pen.

No. If you look at the photo in the op you can see that the size is slightly larger and easier to hold, which is what makes it a better stylus.
Does any user note 2 using the bluetooth pen on their note 2 here? How does it feel? Does it ok or off set when u write something using it? I have s pen with eraser for 10.1..i use it on my note 2 and found it off set when want to write something n i could not found way to calibrate it

This is the absolute best stylus for note taking I have encountered. Bar none.
Login here.

That should do it?
To the best of my knowledge, the only screen protector, so far, reported to block the Jot is Ghost Armor.
My dry apply generic one works fine.

Yep its not the cheapest stylus but for $35 and $45 for the pro (shipping included) it well worth the investment if your really into taking hand written notes or drawing
Seems like a really neat idea to make a transparent capacitive surface so you know where you're writing. Although looks like it might snap easily if you forget the cap.
They posted a video showing how hard it is to pull it off
It's both in the Adonit Jot thread and on their youtube site..
Any cheaper solution? I was thinkinh th amcase from amazon at 9.98 with the 2n1 pen and prime shipping. Reviews seems good.

trust me its worth the investment, before the adonit i had bought 3 styli each about $12 and none was good enough.
Are there any really good note taking apps to work with this in handwriting mode though, the bamboo stylus works well on the iPad because there is a proper app to go with it, I have wasted so many hours trying to find something that actually works with handwriting & converts to usable text. If this stylus is so good & accurate then what is the best way to capture handwritten notes that can be converted to text ?
Having bought 3 stylus' so far and none being to my liking...I just purchased the Jot...I hope it's what you say it is.

The design is good. The cap screws on both ends, with a big enough thread not to strip easily, and not to lose. It works better on slightly larger letters, so writing large letters and auto-shrinking seems to work great. Otherwise, pinch zoom to write larger and shrink back to view would also be ideal, like ezpdf.
I like my Jot. Good luck.
I purchased this one. Have yet to use it yet, but it is getting good reviews. Cheap too.

I have had an Acase gen 2 stylus and after about a month or a little less the rubber tip began to crack. It lost if rigidity and now is almost useless to write. You have to mush too hard for it to make good enough contact and work.
I picked up a DAGi P504 and it was good, but after a few days it simply stopped working. Very strange.
I recently received a Adonit Jot, and it is the best of the bunch. But I dropped it on day four and the disk on the end split in half. Turns out it is two thin disk glued together with some metallic material in between. I have read that this has happened to others as well. You have to buy a two pack of replacement disk for $8 plus almost $6 for shipping. I'm going to try ans glue it back together and see if I can get it working again with out having to replace it. At least the **** didn't break then I'd have to replace it. Just so you know what you may get into.
Still the Jot is the best option out there at the moment and worth every penny id I don't have to keep replacing the disks every week.

I ended up getting the amcase 2n1 pen stylus from amazon. Seems to have great reviews and only 10 dollars.
Noticed that new SGN units come with an S-Pen that contains a Grey Button instead of the respective color of the pen. Anyone else noticed this?
That would let us see the flipping thing instead of hunting for it every time!
I bought a spare stylus and it has a grey button, i confirm
Just got my note yesterday, it had a pen with grey button. I'm having problems with the button though, I find its not very responsive when trying to Swype the menu and back functions, I have to press much harder on the button and screen than I am comfortable with.

Well your all talking about stuff you can see. Seems kinda pointless if you still gotta look to find it
What it needs is texture so you can find it without looking. I'm thinking their might be just enough tolerance in the pen slot to accommodate 2-3 little bumps.
To make a rivet effect before (on a steam punk esque phone I made) I've sliced the round ends off of hairbrush bristles and superglued them on. Think I'm gonna try that

Can I ask what happens on your Note II when you press the "Home" button from sleep? Mine takes me to my "Home" screen instead of the app that was open when the phone fell asleep. If I press the "power" button I will however get to the last opened app. I find this very annoying when I have the phone on a table-top. I then have to use to hands to wake correctly.

Lol that's what I did as well: bought the note2 thinking:
-screen is big and not pentile
-awesome battery
-stylus
-2GB RAM
And I was a bit disappointed by the screen; sure it's crisp and clear, but the color variation at the slightest angle was annoying (especially on white background).
Black level wasn't that great (SGS1>SGS3>Note2 for those I tested).
The stylus was a big let down: it felt cheap and a bit unreliable. I use a Japanese learning app where you have to write the character they ask you to, it was working just half of the time.
What was left was battery and Ram.
Well, that's great but I was already slightly annoyed when someone called me.
Even alone in my room I thought: "Do I really have to put this near my ear?" :silly:
I realised it wasn't for me, returned it and bought a S3. :cyclops:
Im also gunna be swapping to the Note 2.
Never had any problems with the s3 its just because i bought my Galaxy S3 when it first came out and then soon after they released the Note 2 and now i want that one lol.

Well, S3 screen is smaller so, yes, you have this feeling.
But regarding really small fonts, they will be easier to read on the Note2 with a good definition while on the S3 they will turn into "small dots" garbage.
Don't know how to explain better! :silly:
Anyway, that's a case where you zoom-out and display a full web page on your phone.
That could help locate something like a menu or link but you wouldn't read this kind of fonts size.
Just went to the Samsung shop today, many S4s are in stock and waiting for people to grab it lol.
So I gave it a try and playing around with new functions, such as S Translate, it looks like google translate lol nothing really impressed me there. but I do love the one with eyes scrolling page while browsing, even though it kinds of slow but it just awesome.
So I wish to see them on our beloved note 8.0 lol that's all ;p

The S3 may not support this feature, due to some hardware limitations (sensors maybe), or its just a kernel thing..

If you mean proximity sensor I think someone mentioned that the Wifi-only model doesn't have a proximity sensor.
I believe the SGS4 has TWO Proximity Sensors for the Hand Gesture features...one on each side of the earpiece. There is also an Ambient Light Sensor for auto display dimming, and the Front Facing Camera. The FFC (maybe combined with the proximity sensors?) is used for Smart Stay/Scrolling. The IR Blaster is used for Remote Control of your TV/DVR/STEREO using the Peel or Watch On apps.
Here is a closeup photo of the S4:

I don't think that the Note 8.0 3G+WiFi version has the Second Proximity Sensor that would be used for the Hand Gestures and possibly Smart Scrolling? Here is a photo of the front of the 3G Note 8.0. I see a Light Sensor, a Proximity Sensor, and a FFC:

This would be disappointing if its true, I would be happy even if only the vertical scroll air gesture could be done on the note 8. the smart scrolling is useless I have it turned off on the S4.

I have an s4 as well which i am selling, but i would like to get the air gesture and smart scroll function on our note 8, i would assume note 8 has the sensor for it since we have that smart stay and that air view with our pen

You can sort of get the air gesture capability by using the S pen and pressing the tip with your finger while holding it close (but not touching) the screen. Works well for scrolling. Selecting icons takes a little bit of practice as holding the s pen tip down too long results in a long press (on my 5110 it's real touchy).

Yeah, but it doesnt work while holding 2 fried chicken , on my s4 i can have oily chicken on both hand and stii scroll down reading blogs, that teh main reason I want the air gesture

LOL! Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing--it would be really nifty to be able to browse the internet without touching the screen (or the S-Pen), but just with air gestures (for when hands are dirty). It is too bad it seems like we won't see that functionality on the Note 8.
Instead of using the proximity sensor...
What about looking at using the Wacom Digitizer tech instead?
So the digitizer layer tracks the S Pen in a magnetic field... it would be a matter of determining what it is inside the S Pen that's being tracked... then perhaps buying some cheap alternative pens and removing parts.
Perhaps there is something small that could be stuck to a fingernail?
JB 4.2.2 hope it can updated to ur GN8

That's a clever and fascinating idea.... I'd be very interested to hear the results of any experimenting that you or others do with that.
Yeah. Gorgeous screen of Note 8 now only needs S4 features and it will flatten all records.
If so, im definitely getting the S7. Thanks

Didn't think so as it would need the digitiser from the Note. But does anyone know if it has the extra screen sensitivity setting that the Galaxy S5 had. I remember with that phone I was amazed that i could write on the screen really easily with a ball point pen or pencil, it was no S-Pen but having the precision of a pencil is so much better than a generic fat stylus. It didn't leave much mess on the phone either, just had to remember to not press down hard.
It would be great if the S7 had this feature as I'm selling my Note 4 to get the Edge.

Yeah, I also want to know if S7 has this feature by using a normal pencil as a stylus.. Anyone has tried this yet? Also want to upgrade from Note 4 to S7 Edge if confirm can use this feature..
I bought a note 5 stylus from eBay to try it out. Problem is it's from China so it will take about 4 weeks to get here.
Just moved from a Note 4 to a S7 Edge (SM-9350). The Note 4's pen does NOT work on my S7.
Let me know if you want some additional information.

If you use nova launcher add a action to home screen under settings is a page that says s-pen and this is what is in it.

triyed with a raw piece of metal (very subtle) and confirm that the screen respond almost like my note 4 with s-pen. -> it must be conductive (take care to not scratch the screen).
Used a paperclip and it works with the phone..lol
Got a Note 5 and S7 Edge both.
Doesn't work.
You will need one of these!

How about a normal pencil? Will the screen respond to it?

Well considering my wife has the note 5 I think not. She needed a replacement so how is it a waste? Before you start to judge you need to know the situation first.

oh well now you make sense lol
I gave the Note 5 pen a try and it doesn't work at all. Won't register a single click probably cause of the fine point tip. I also tried with my regular Amazon basics pen which I use for my Windows tablet and it works just fine.
Urh
It will never work, the Spen does not use your normal Stylus.
Normal Stylus is normally a conductor to pass your electromagnetic thought the pen
(thats most finger detection)
Samsung USED to have a GLOVE mode, So this turned the Screen Touch to Pressure sensitivity,.
(A pencil would work in this case)
You would be required to get a conductor to use as a Stylus i.e. use the Static proof paper to make your own Stylus, It works)
The Spen used hardware for detection, Hence the Hovering of the Spen showed it cursor, the Press hard and less showed worked for Thickness thiness,
It also counted how high the pen was off the screen
(Worked with the sPen SDK Before)
