Got to taste Sprint LTE today - EVO Shift 4G General

It was slower than Wimax 6MBps tops. But it's not fully launched yet so I'm hoping it wont be this slow when it does or I'm returning my phone.

Well that's still A LOT better than Sprint's 3g.

I would hope it improves. I've hit close to 10mbps on T-mobile prepaid service.

Sorry to hear it isn't working out. Could it just be a bad device?

Which device are you running? When I was in LA the other day, my fastest LTE speed was 16Mbps down, over twice as fast as the fastest WiMax speed I ever had.

Photon Q. I just unlocked it... too bad there are no ROMS to flash for it.
The sprint store promised me LTE would be up by Nov 1. I can't wait to go back there today or tomorrow. :silly:

are you going to stick with the Photon Q then? I was looking into getting either the EVO LTE or the SGIII but now, the NEXUS 4 is looking mighty fine! Can't wait, as of 5 days ago, I am eligible for an upgrade... :good: :victory:

Nexus 4 will never come to sprint. If you want the 4 grab the Optimus G and hope it gets root. But other than that the Evo LTE is boss.

Really the only 2 phones I've been considering are the EVO LTE and the Photon Q. I still have a while until my next upgrade so I'll be paying close attention to what Vicodan thinks of his Q.

I'd be inclined to agree if it werent for the keyboard. HTC needs to stop screwing around and make another slider phone. That's the only reason i went with the Q. I miss sense terribly though. Oh well, compromises always have to be made i guess.

lucky. a lot of us here have horrible data speeds and have not figured it out yet. however, only the last 2 phones look good to me considering the tegra2. however, the nexus s and evo3d are looking hopeful. the evo 3d if it is the lg optimus 3d is insane! i would have a tough choice deciding between the nexus s and evo3d if that were the case

It depends on what hardware elements are the EXACT SAME, for instance it won't help with the camera because they have different sensors, but it might help with the GPS.

This, Wimax is quite the joke in terms of building penetration and connection. When I look on the Sprint map I have 4g service available, I can't even connect to the **** outside let alone inside. Hell it's so bad I don't even care if custom roms/ports don't have 4g because I can't use it.

Realistic timeframe for ICS?

I'm wondering how long you guys think it will take for ICS to get ported to the Epic. I mean, realistically, it took us the better part of a year to get CM7 (and it's still only a release candidate). I'm pretty invested in this phone, having bought a car dock and game gripper for it. But it seems to be such an oddball in terms of development. My buddy's got a Fascinate, and seeing his 4.0 screenshots has been making me very jealous. Been thinking of trading in for a Nexus S or Evo Shift. Thoughts? And I hate to pimp, but if you've got either of those phones, and are looking for a Boost Mobile Epic, I'd consider a trade. PM me.
While it's on my mind, the aforementioned Fascinate guy stated that he gets 600k downstream on VZW when tethering, 1meg in good signal area. I've never even approached that...fastest I ever got was 200k, usually closer to 100k. Is this a difference in the radios between Galaxy models, or a symptom of VZW vs. Sprint?

I mean it ain't gold yet. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge step for this phone, but we could realistically be looking at a 12 month gap between the time when CM7 was official, to the time when it was official for the Epic. I don't think I'd enjoy waiting that long for CM9, y'know?
