Your help would be really appreciated

Thanks, please share it.
I was running 1.139.05 will that build be ok for me and if so can you share please??
1.139.04_COM_GEN1 was my latest revision before starting customfirmwareinstall

bec07 can you post in first post how to do a .img for the one who doesn t know but willing to share
It should be in micro sd/clockwork mod/[backup date]/recovery.img
You can put it on the root of the micro sd and acer recovery installer will pick it up.
But, does anybody know where acer recovery installer creates the backup of the original recovery.img when flashing clockwork mod?

my last backup is 1.141.05_COM_GEN1 with original recovery , boot , system and flexrom I can upload it but why do you what to go back to that ugly slow rom?
when 3.1 official comes it can easily converted for cwm...
This is awkward, my latest OTA update is Acer_A500_1.139.02_COM_GEN1 and System update claims it's the latest.
I don't want to go back but I want to know I can have the tablet back to stock with default OTA working.
When I started playing with CWM on my galaxy S, naturally I went custom without asking any questions - carrier updates will always blow.
But the latest leaks from samsung are so good I don't bother with custom roms anymore.
Since iconia is not branded I believe in due time the default experience will be great.
So when that time comes or if I'll sell it I want the software to be like new.

Going back to stock TUTORIAL
I'm trying to build a firmware database and a working tutorial for those wanting a perfect backup/returning to stock.
Thanks!
I have the CSpire galaxy s4 SCH-R970x and I am looking for some help/guidance on rooting and flashing custom roms to it.
Help please! there is no Cspire forum.
found some help for ya.. To root the device:
Use this CF-Auto Root : http://db.tt/ei0f7NHK
Unzip .zip file / grab md5 .tar file and run in Odin.
You will see a red android man while flashing (means its working)
After you root, you'll probably want to install clockwork recovery or twrp. Google around if you want, I know twrp has a cspire galaxy s4 version, and on another forum, there's cwm available (though its a first edition)
cwm - flash in odin
http://garwynn.rainmotorsports.net/CSpireS4/SCH-R970X_CWM_v1.1.tar
and as far as some roms, there's only two I can see currently (both found on alternate forum since there's not a lot of cspire friendly forums on xda)
aokp unofficial *also flash gapps afterwards
http://garwynn.rainmotorsports.net/CSpireS4/aokp_jfltecsp_unofficial_2013-07-22.zip
gapps - use the 7/10 ver
http://goo.im/gapps/
cm 10.1 unofficial
http://garwynn.rainmotorsports.net/CSpireS4/cm-10.1-20130719-UNOFFICIAL-jfltecsp.zip
Better yet - Until there is a home here on XDA I'm hosting several things on the team site.
Check them out here:

Rooting, unofficial CWM, CM and AOKP already there.

Been looking around, havent seen ANYTHING related to our 970x drop except an updated aospa on sxtpdevelopers.com. Soon as my s4 gets delivered (wife has to send it overseas to me since I'm deployed) I'll be building some samsung roms or attempting to port some nice premades like darthstalker. Its been a few years since I've done any rom modding but I doubt a lot has changed. What were you looking for in a rom? an AOSP based one or sammy based or something else?

well I'm running a 32 gig, and cwm is working fine with it. Maybe thats the limit? Try reformatting the card in android storage to see if it makes a difference? you may need to partition the card into two separate 32 gb areas for recognition

sweet, thanks! I was considering modding a rom with sammy base, but when I started going through the aroma section of the zip, I became dumbfounded as I realized there's a LOT more modding that would be necessary to add in and correct that rom for cspire
I haven't had the chance to find a card reader to try to split it into two 32gb but I did reformat it using the phones formatting tool. It seems like people had a similar problem with the S3.
The card is a SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSD XC class 10.

So I found a solution. I installed busybox, then I installed aParted. This allowed me to reformat my card to FAT32, it was apparently in exfat. Now CWM recognizes the file and will backup to external SD. Now that this hurdle is over. Time to start tinkering. I'm no good at building roms, but i'm more than happy to run one of yours and report bugs if that helps. just let me know.

I'm sorry for having to post here, I'm a new XDA member and I've just started using my tablet and found out I can't post in the dev section. I'm not sure how else to get help and a previous boyfriend told me the xda-developers community was a great place so I thought I would try here.
I have the Nexus 7 (2013 edition) and I used WUG's method of rooting - everything went perfectly, but now I'm getting a notification that there is an update (an OTA update - I think that's what they are called?) and it doesn't apply. I'm not sure if I should have, but I did the bootloader unlock and installed a new recovery (TWRP - I think that's how it's spelled?. sorry again)...
Anyway.... At this point my tablet is working great, but I constantly see this notification for an update and I'm not sure what to do.. It says "touch to install" and I've done that but it just boots into my new recovery. If anybody has access to WUG in the dev forum, could you please ask him what I should do?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have the WiFi only version or the LTE version? Also, under your settings -> about phone, what build number are you currently on? Since you have rooted and installed a custom recovery, OTA updates will not install correctly. You have a couple of options in this regards, and I or someone will go over them once we figure out what version you are running.

Here's what you can do to install the update.
1) go to this thread and download either the odexed or deodexed version.
2) Reboot to recovery
3) Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache
4) Flash the .zip file you just downloaded
5) Reboot your updated tablet.
OR

All your data will be preserved. Only Wipe the Cache/Dalvik Cache, not the Data. Before you install go to Wipe -> Advance -> Check only Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Typically when an update comes out, someone will post a flashable update within a couple of hours so we can install them as well. Hope it helps.
Edit: As always before flashing anything, make a backup, by rebooting into recovery and selecting Backup (i check all the boxes).

I believe so, Cyanogenmod usually merges the updates pretty quickly into the code and you won't get any update notifications from Google directly any more. There are only nightly releases so far for this device if you feel like going that route.

That's completely up to you and what you prefer... I like the stock android experience so far, but there are many options out there for custom ROMs besides CM. Take a look here and here and figure out if a ROM in there has something you want... the great thing about this is if you don't like it, flash something else until you find exactly what you like... that's how I plan to do it, once the ROMs get more stable with the 4.3 updates.

Hey everyone,
I have an Oppo Find 5. I had it running the PA 3.99 the Sept 9 release. I backed it up in ClockworkMod Recovery and flashed the ColorROM.
I decided that the Color Rom was not for me and I restored PA. I was returned to PA without a working Wifi connection. I can't enable it. :silly:
I didn't factory reset and flash first. I am currently trying the restore again with the factory reset first.
Can anyone explain to me what happened? Do I need to flash a modem update or downgrade I wasn't aware of?
Thanks

Did some more digging. I found that its is necessary to download and flash the Android 4.1 based version of color rom before restoring the custom rom.
I can't post the link to the oppo forums where the color roms are hosted so can someone place post the link for me? Thanks.

Hi all!
I have successfully rooted my LG L5X (LG-E450f), and now I want to install some other ROM, but I haven't found any stable or nightly release for it.
Does anyone know if there is some workaround, with Cyanogenmod preferably, for the LG L5X?
Another thing is that I haven't been able to install Clockworkmod successfully on this device, so if anyone knows how to install CWM first, it would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Ok so, if not Cyanogen, is there any way to port another ROM to this device? or actually upgrade the stock ROM to KitKat maybe??
Its just i dont like the restrictive stock roms, i've always been a --rooting/CWM/custom roms/cyanogenmod/-- user, and i just cant keep up with this stock rom since i moved on to this device.
So if there is any work for this device in progress, it would be really appreciated
Thanks in advance!
As long as they dont unlock bootloader there wont be any custom roms, i guess.

@NextgenBold yip this is true.
there are certain apps/framework on this device that make it bootup
so it is very difficult to port
we cannot use the ordinary methods like this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008
because certain apps need to load on start up otherwise it will give you an infinite boot.
so you cannot change the framework ether because then the apps wont load and the phone wont boot up.
I dont know this for sure, I am just saying this is what happened when I tried to port CM
I am happy with this device because I am not a genuise if I had a device with CWM and Custom roms I would not be learning anything and I would not be contributing.
having This phone creates challenges and everyone that does any work on this device is respected.
