[Q] Poll: Galaxy S3 US vs. Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The Galaxy S3 is one of the best selling smartphones of all time, is there any reason to upgrade from the S3 US to the Nexus 4? and how noticeable of an improvement would the Quad Core S4 Pro be over the Dual S4 Chip in the S3 US.

I would not upgrade, you can just wait until a 4.2 AOSP ROM for the GS3 comes out. In terms of Hardware, they are not that different: both have a quad core, a similar sized HD screen, and both are just insanely fast (I believe, at least

Good luck with that.

Mods, please move my poll to the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 Q&A, thank you

One of the major pros of a Google phone is Google updates. No waiting for carriers.
That's a good enough reason for me, to be honest. I have an S3.

I don't like TW, and I was waiting to get nexus since the first 1 but those build quality weren't that good.
If you ask me about samsung hardware build quality I would say its crappy but the best one out there though

I have a Vibrant...yes the Samsung lost abandon phone...I was thinking next phone will only be google phone ...BUT LG kinda stunk it I think. I was willing to pay as much as iphone, but
I found it has
NO 32GB,
NO External SD,
NO removable battery
NO Glonass
NO LTE (<====? Common everything is heading toward LTE now, why? why??)
Now, I'm thinking I probably go with Samsung Galaxy S III i9305 not the i9300 (it has everything and 2GB ram)

The Nexus 4 does in fact have GLONASS support, according to this comparison.
Also, LTE was abandoned because Google didn't want to partner with carriers (especially in the US) to launch Nexus devices, considering how badly Verizon handled Galaxy Nexus updates. Google's cooperation with At&t/Verizon would have reportedly made it more financially feasible to add LTE.

I am interested to hear reviews from those going from an S3 to a Nexus 4. I feel I would prefer the S3 over the Nexus 4, the Nexus 4 is just too cheap to pass up though. I currently have a Galaxy Nexus and love it. But I have spent some time with an S3 and would rather have that over my GN.

i just played with the n4 at my local store and let me say that n4 mops the floor with it..it is amazingly fast..having a ported 4.2 aosp build for the s3 is not the same as having the orginal 4.2..****, i have a hox and the n4 blows the hox out of the water..and the good thing is, google is going to release the n4 with 32gb..no source..just have been told by a google employee

Ah things get a little more interesting when the British, Aussie, European (and so on) Galaxy S3's are thrown into the mix.
Then it's Quad Core Exynos 4412 vs Quad Core Snapdragon S4 Pro
1GB vs 2GB RAM
The mobile networks around the world are quicker to provide updates than the American 'carriers'
BATTLE OF THE TITANS!!!

Yes, especially if you have the international version which has less than stellar custom ROM support.
My Galaxy S3 is the phone that single-handedly convinced me only buy Nexus phones from now on.

So what are your thoughts, those who have went from the S3 to the Nexus 4? I am curious.

Awwww. That's messed up how they didn't release a 32GB version from the start. I'm fine with 16GB, but nothing wrong with having more storage.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium

As someone who has switched to the Nexus 4 from the AT&T S3, these are my thoughts.
Cons:
- No removable storage.
- No LTE (not that big of a deal imo)
- No Removable Battery (never removed my battery, so don't care)
- Nexus 4 is made of glass, and slides off almost everything.
- Screen is less sensitive (I've frequently had to tap multiple time for it to be registered)
- Better battery life on the S3 (but I haven't had my N4 for very long)
- No hardware home button on the front (this is a nice convenience imo.)
- Better Camera on the S3
- Louder speakers on the S3 (N4 is barely audible in the shower)
Pros
- N4 feels so much better than the S3. Swiping feels superb, holding the phone feels great, and the N4 looks much better than S3.
- AOSP Out of the Box (I didn't think this would be a big deal, but I've been using the phone unrooted and wow, its like everything just works how I want it to.)
- Direct updates from Google (no more waiting on custom roms and leaks)
- Better Screen (everything looks a lot more realistic and better imo)
- Faster (everything is so smooth on the N4 and I haven't seen any lag or stutter yet as I did [rarely] on the S3. This creates a better experience.)
My experience with the Nexus 4 is that it just feels better to use than the S3. Its something you have to try for yourself I guess.

Ah, the*Galaxy S III. We always knew it'd be a keystone among Android smartphones, but according to the AnTuTu benchmark suite, it'll be the one device to rule them all. While there's no way to verify whether this test is indeed legitimate, all Android users may currently peep the AnTuTu app, which not only shows the smartphone as having bested the mighty*Transformer Prime*tablet, but it also reveals the most comprehensive set of specs we've yet seen for the Galaxy S III -- again, take this with a grain of salt. The device is said to wield a Samsung*Exynos 4212 SoC*with a dual-core 1.4GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 4.7-inch, 720p HD display. This lines up similarly with the*product listing*from Amazon Germany, as the specs also reveal a 12 megapixel primary camera on the rear, along with a 2MP shooter on the front. No big surprises for the OS, which is listed as Android 4.0. Should the benchmark tests turn out to be legitimate, the*HTC One X*will no doubt have some very stiff competition.

Won't the nexus that comes around xmas time for the past 3 years running have similar if not better specs and sport the pure Android first in line upgrade experience for users? I'm not getting all the fuss over the s3 when nexus will be right behind by a few months. Last nexus was delayed because of lte. So we got it 5 months late.

Same logic would suggests that the Galaxy S4 would just be a few months behind that nexus then. Galaxy phones have been coming out around mid year where nexus phones have been coming out end of the year, and then tack on a few months more for carrier delays. The Galaxy phones have all been about specs and design. Sides, with enough developers working on it to push out AOSP roms, "pure google" isn't that hard to obtain.

Right, and carrier delays also force the nexus to come many months after that new Android update as well lol. Unless you're going to switch away from Sprint and going with a GSM carrier, Sprint's Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus both came 5-6 months after their international brothers.
Personally I don't understand why everyone loves the nexus so much...It has the exact same specs as the S2 but NFC capable and worse camera. I don't get it. OMG it has onscreen buttons, i could care less...a nice camera means about 1000x more to me. Pure ICS, pretty sure I already have that via flashing roms. I don't know if Nexus has AOKP but "pure ICS < AOKP

It's the CPU/GPU that are pissing people off, and I completely understand because I am too. The Galaxy s phones are supposed to be powerhouses. The previous two were faaaar ahead of their time. This phone uses some A9 chip with the old Mali400, which has been long outdated. All they did was overclock it. That GPU can't render triangles if its life depended on it.
What about audio chip. I have an Sgs ii and dont use it because it cannot record videos under loud conditions such as concerts. All you get is noise.

Really -- I mean from information we have now, which one will you take Tegra3 GPU or Mali400 clocked at 440Mhz? or Adreno 225?
Everyone knows about low memory bandwidth issues with Tegra, and Adreno isn't that a powerhouse in GPU. Samsung has always stated multiple times this year that their aim is battery life and efficiency.

Recently power consumption for mobile devices have increased a lot and mobile devices have limited cooling capability....Samsung optimized its 45 nm processor for performance first and later found it could not get its full performance without exceeding power consumption limits. The 32 nm chip was optimized first for power consumption

That's an interesting comparison between the 4 GPU's, most benchmarks I've seen lean towards the Adreno 225 or the PVR MP2 used in the iPhone. How much more power would really be used by a Mali T6 card over the Mali 400 :/

Totallyyy heavily confused between s3 and note ! !

Hey guys i need your help urgently ! !
I am in a big trouble of buying a smartphone. My 2 choices are galaxy s3 and note.
these are the points that i like about each:-
galaxy s3:-
1.Best performance
2.Lots of added features
3.one of the best camera with burst mode too
4.Great battery life
5.WOLFSON
galaxy note:-
1.bigger better screen imo(its brightness is about 100 cd/m2 more than s3)
I know that s3's ppi is better but that mere 15ppi doesnt mean anything to me
2.Its by far much better looking than s3
3.spen
My main reason for loving the note more than the s3 is its SCREEN.Its sooo bigger and hence better for browsing, gaming, movies etc.
So here my maib questions are:-
1.Is the performance soo much better on s3 than note, specially the gpu?
because i love gaming and the gpu performance is what i need the most ! !
2.I heard and have seen that the ui of s3 so fluent that its now on par with iphone? Then how will be the ui of note?
3.how will be the browser comparision between s3 and note?
I am in hurry for gettibg one because in india we have some offer for note,in which samsung gives sennhieser headphone, flip cover,3000(60usd) games totally for free and this offer experies on 31st may.So what to choose?Even the note 2 will be launched in may be september,so is buying note good idea?

So true lol
Get note if u want a larger screen and the fns of an s pen
Else go for s3
once you use the note you cannot go back to a smaller screen. if you ain't used to the note's screen, go with the s3, it's much better spec'd. you'll need it!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
For gaming, the S3 or xperia play (i love mine)
For anything else, galaxy note.
(I think they have the same camera hardware, and software features will probably be ported.)
According to several reviews, all too often you won't even feel the benefit of the quad cores on the s3. It has same pentile Amoled type screen as Note (except it is much larger on Note). Plus, this whole 'inspired by nature' thing just seems a little too desperate a marketing technique for me (imho). I would go for the Note.
Best idea maybe would be to maybe have a half hour play with both in a highstreet store when s3 is released, to make your own mind up...before choosing the Note ;-)

If you can wait get the s3, if you want something now the Note is awesome. I'd love to have one.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Well if you're considering the S3, why not through the HTC One X into the equation?
Although I love the idea of having the best specs, I doubt I would be able to tell the difference in terms of CPU (HTC One X and S3 being QUAD core) and RAM as all of the devices seem quite comparable and I haven't noticed any QUAD optimised apps yet, so I would think the user experience for me would be more important.
For me, personally, it comes down to mainly the following:
1. Cost (The Galaxy Note is a bargain right now - I paid £550 in November 2011)
2. Screen Size (I love the Notes Screen and don't think I could go any smaller)
3. UI and Battery Life (From my experience HTC smart phones have crap battery!!! I have owned a HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD and a bag of pre-Android HTC phones)
4. Longevity of the Device (Life-span for updates eg. although the Galaxy Note came out on GB I still bought it because I feel that it will continue to be supported for a while due to the device being an important milestone for Samsung. I'm hoping to get two updates out of the Note and when it stops being supported officially, I'm sure there will be some unofficial updates, or I trade-in for a Galaxy Note 2!!!)
It really depends what you prefer, or how you prefer things to be done with the device.
For me the only upgrade for the Note would be the Note 2, as the S3 which was very tempting for me too (some special features, Quadcore (just because I'm a bit freakish 'bout hardware and not because I really need it ^^) in the end has no S-Pen (bad for me, I hate browsing the internet without it) and is too small (tried that size and I don't want anything smaller than 5,3 inches). Also I do not need the new hardware as I don't play 3D-games or other intense graphics stuff with the device, and the CPU/GPU of the Note is far away from limiting anything for me.
This is from the perspective of someone who owns a note and is not looking to buy SGS3.
Wait until you can have a "hands on" play with the SGS3. For me, I can't see the benefits of the processor so I won't buy one.
However - I am frustrated with the note's ability to play back movies. I am not really a person who uses the note much for watching media... but the black clipping issue frustrates me nonetheless.
If I was an avid movie/tv watcher, the issues with the note would be unacceptable.
In summary:
a) wait to play with SGS3 and get comments on video playback quality.
b) if you are a movie/audiophile, buy SGS3 if video playback is good.
c) if not, buy the note.
The note is a like a drug. If you use it, you will NEVER use a smaller screen again... so your big decision here is, do you want your friends saying, "Yo, pull your laptop out and bring up those pics you took" Lol. I think its by far a great phone, and spec wise, I play lots of games on it, its probably not "as" smooth for gaming as what the sgs3 will be so if that's a big deal you might lean that way, but everything else...note rules.
Get the Note if you are comfortable with the size of this device.

I don't see any reason to get confused at all. First of all how could you compare a product which is selling currently(whose performance is well known) with a product yet to be released(whose performance is not known)?. Both of them maybe from same company but targeted at different category of people. If your aim is to update yourself with the latest gadget in the market no matter what then you may go for S3....If you need a phone which can satisfy your needs then that's a different question....Note is for people who need a smartphone with extended options of a tablet but don't want to carry a typical tablet in their brief case.....But once you get used to it all other phones look like cute little toys to you.....I can surely bet that Galaxy Note can handle all high end graphics games, high quality video streaming etc etc and you will just love its performance...Obviously a bigger screen means better visibility, more details on the screen etc etc...So now you decide and act....Best of luck...
go 4 note !
hi mate
i waited for months before buying my note as i was waiting 4 s3 launch
man i bought my note just after seeing s3 live release on facebook
see we dont need quad core processors right now dual core s enough, i might have opted for s3 if it had a 12mp cam but its cam is still same as note's
and plz keep this in mind if it uses camera to see your eyes movement then its gonna take lot of battery which is 2100 mah compare to note's 2500 mah (sorry if m wrong)
plus the biggest problem is its ugly design... man note is sexy
the only plus option is quad core and nothing else..rest everything is software based like there was siri on 4s (not worth updating)
if u wanna wait for note 2 its ur choice but u never knw they might give note 2 same design as they gave to s3
and yeah i got my headphones they are good
regards
yeh s3 looks amazing, but i rather wait for note 2 with those all features and screen size will be same or even a bit bigger
The key word is "in a hurry"... so if 90% of the ppl ask u to buy s3, u will give up the promo? C'mon... u had ur answer yourself already...

They are seriously going to associate the "S3" name with this crap?
Can samsung really not make a small phone as good as iphone? Is this the downfall of the galaxy S brand image? No doubt the average person will compare this with the iphone 5 and it wont look good.
Epic fail, we want exynos.

Wow.... seriously?
That looks more like a repackaged original Galaxy S hardware.
i was surprised not to see 2 gig of ram
Its the Galaxy S Advance with a new design and JB, not impressed at all Sammy

The worst part of it all is that its called the "S3 mini".
"We'll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany, there's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini.'"
Some call it iphone and you samsung clearly dont know what you are doing here. It's not like they dont already have 4" entry level phones.
They just want to trick customers into thinking this is a galaxy S3 in a smaller body. Epic fail samsung!!!!!!!

I suspect to the average Joe it is, quad core doesn't make it text any quicker or reduce the number of dropped calls and as for the camera you obviously can't squeeze the 8mp in such a small body.
Seems to me Samsung can't win elsewhere they're being lambasted for releasing the i9305 and devaluing the i9300 by relegating it to second fiddle and here for the mini not shoe Horning the S3 hardware into a smaller, more desirable?, chassis with a better screen.

Facepalm indeed. If these specs are true, the s3 mini would be lousier than the s2 and the galaxy s advanced. I would expect the mini to at least be as good as the s2

What are you talking about? The WVGA screen is not going to be anyway near as good. The iphone 5 has an 8MP camera, the 4S had as well and they are both very small phones.
The novathor chipset is not going to provide the smooth performance that people associate with the S3.
Why would a smaller body be more desirable? Many people like the big screen of S3 those who dont shouldnt have bought it. Yes the i9305 is actually a ***** move because it is everything the S3 is and more, a smaller S3 cant be that.
And you know even a galaxy S2 is fine for texting and calling so what is the point of this phone? Galaxy S2 is also pretty reasonably sized.
A 4" screen of 300PPI, a slightly under clocked quad core CPU and 8MP camera is what is needed from an S3 mini to compete with the iphone 5. Seems like apple excels at engineering more than anybody else when it comes to making a high end small device.
Cash grab yes but in this case it is perfectly reasonable because of two factors.
1. They have to make up the 1 billion dollars that Apple robbed them of somehow. Why not try and rob it from isheep that are holding back on the GS3 because of the size, they won't know any better.
2. Nobody knows if the GS4 and Note 2 will replicate the success of their predecessors, so they need to cash grab when they can. For example, I had the GS2 and GS3 but I won't be purchasing the GS4(unless I cave in) because I might be moving to Windows Phone just for a change of pace. The GS3 is the first phone in YEARS to make Apple release their iphone earlier than they wanted, it might not happen ever again. So instead of letting Apple gouge the consumers, I am perfectly okay with Samsung gouging for 2012. At least it is not Apple. Although the ipad mini might be a gouger.
Samsung made 7 billion dollars in the last quarter. They don't need to pull off something this stupid that can be damaging in the long term.
I am still hoping the device will either not be called S3 mini or will not have those sort of specs as leaked by the German site.

This wont hurt them. Nobody who bought the tab 2 7 or tab 2 10.1 knows that the tablet they bought licks ass even compared to the old 10.1. This one actually has a relatively new SOC at least. It should run decent with the lower res.
http://www.stericsson.com/products/u8500-novathor.jsp
Sony chipsets are fine. Although that article is sketchy because there is no U8420, U8500 is the lowest. That L9540 sounds like a beast though, it uses a power vr while the rest use the mali 400.

For some people the S3 is too big and imho this isn't aimed at S3 buyers anyhow, they're using the S3 as a halo device to attract people in, people who might buy into SJs belief that the iphone is the perfect size. And hard as it may be for you to believe, for some, the S3 in a smaller body with a better screen would be ideal.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Same reaction happened when the A1 Merc or Porsche Boxster was released. Purists where upset!
It's just a budget model, don't like it don't buy it. But it's about time they had one.
Wonder what Apple thinks of Sammy using there word mini? Bet jurors think it's an iPod mini clone. White, rectangle, smooth corners, uses the mini name
Swyped on I9300 - XXDLIB - Siyah kernel - JKay & Thunderbolt tweaks.
They're just abusing the name of S3 here, there's no point in this device. It was expected to be a direct competitor to the iPhone, but it isn't. There's no reason for anyone to buy this. Hardware is no good, price is high, it doesn't really compete with anything.

No it's not hard at all I myself was waiting for the S3 mini.
I personally find the S3 to be too big and guess what? I didnt buy it I am waiting for someone to make a smaller device as good as S3. However if I were to give in and buy the current S3 and then later a smaller version comes then I wont have any right to be pissed off. That would like ipad users getting pissed at the ipad mini.
So it really is official then.
Less pixels to push plus JB 4.1 should allow it to run pretty close to the GS3 with ICS. It will run fine, if you can live with the low resolution. lol
This post just made me look at my current galaxy s 3 and feel instantly sick.
A lte version released after the '' flagship'' device was released,
Now they release this "mini s3" I mean come on..
Build the mini with i9305 specs, ram and lte included but don't offend my eyes and call it an s3 mini...
Samsung seem desperate.. IMO

In my case I will be upgrading from my galaxy nexus.. This will be a huge upgrade for me and now a taste of something other than stock android. Looking forward to playing with all the " gimmicky" features..
Definitely waiting for the note 3!

Of course. It goes without saying. It's finally time to say Goodbye to my beloved Note 2. I always kept going back to the S3 even after getting the Note 2 because it was a bit too big, but I would come right back to Note 2 because I just missed the big screen. Now I think the .2 inch more in a smaller body is an even bigger reason to switch. Also the 1080p and a less rounded form doesn't hurt either. I think this might be the 1st full year since 2010 where I keep the SAME phone for longer than 1 year.

Reading the last few posts of yours I can tell you can't make up your mind yet. Just an advice. If you like Touchwiz and you think you can live with it go buy the S4. However if you intend to flash custom ROMs that are based on CM or AOSP, AOKP ParanoidAndroid etc. and get all the great features they offer, don't touch any Samsung's device, you'll save yourself a lot of time and money. Don't expect any of those ROM to be fully functional on the S4 because they won't be.
As for me, I want to be able to customize the crap out of my phone that's why I'll stick with CM based ROMs, their theme engine is just unbeatable. Beside I care more about performance, speed and battery life than all those S-bloats, all those "features" that I might use 3 times a year, therefor Touchwiz is out of the question for me. At the end of the day, it's entirely up to you. It's better for people to be aware of this issue now than later. One Exynos source code fiasco is enough.

I wanted to but after reading this forum I'm thinking of just letting my skyrocket.
With customized Rom I love this phone
So maybe I'll leave good enough alone.
I've got to root my phone and start flashing.
I had bricked my phone, I got it serviced at mobile tech video and now it's flashed to factory Rom so now I have to root it but I can't wait.
I'll skip the upgrade for now.

I'd be surprised... since Samsung devices traditionally have gotten great CM support. The full Galaxy S line-up from 1 -3 had fairly good support and even the bastard US variants like the Epic 4g have working 10.1 versions.
To get back on subject... I don't think I'll be waiting. I just broke the screen on my S3 and I need a replacement right now... going to get another S3, it's not a bad phone and honestly the last thing I want is a bigger screen. Only way I'd get an S4 is if they had a "mini" version that didn't have gimped specs like the S3 mini. 4" was the sweet spot and they nailed it with the Nexus S. Sexy phone... I miss mine
I am S III owner, I am waiting HTC One release now.

I see after looking around that I'm probably very wrong about it's CM support... that's going to be sad
I'm not a big fan of the Galaxy series anyway (despite owning the Epic 4g and VZW S3). My real love was for the Nexus S and Nexus 4 and I absolutely plan on getting one again as soon as it's reasonable for me to. I'm only using the S3 because it's a work paid line and quite frankly I'm too cheap to pay for my own while someone else will pay for it.

Nope.
I recently sold my Galaxy S3, had the money sat in the bank waiting for the release of the Galaxy S4 & tbh i'm quite dissapointed.
Here why the design is very similar to the S3, which brought a problem a few of us suffered on here & that was dust trapped around the edges, I can see looking at the pics of the S4 that some units could also suffer from this problem aswell.
Both the Galaxy S1 & 2 i had prior to the S3, never suffered this problem.
This is one of the main reason's i've decided against going for the S4, I may comeback next year if they change the overall design for the S5, but that could very well be a Tizen handset, with Android relegated to their mid range smartphones
In the meantime I've decided to buy a Nexus 4 16gb " while you now can finally get your hands on one", I've been impressed by pure Google experience on my Nexus 7 over the past few months & how quick Android get updated, and i also be enjoying next major Android update a good few months before it seen on the Galaxy S4.

Note 3 day one buy features

I've been wondering what, if announced, would make the Note 3 (or any other phone) a day 1 buy for me.
There's always the incremental MORE/LESS stuff - more screen, less weight, blah blah blah
The note 2 is good enough that I don't consider any of that to be a strong selling point.
Has technology/innovation peaked? What features could/would make the Note 3 a 'must buy'
for Note 2 owners (versus the expected 'guess I'll wait for the Note 4)? Or from a business
perspective, would could make people who were uninterested in the Note 3 interested in the Note 2?
I don't think the S4 won over any S3 haters.
The only recent interesting things I've seen are:
wireless charging
unbreakable screen
Metallic body (which I personally don't care about, but it sure is making the HTC One hot stuff)
All of the above I'd love, but nothing I'd sell my Note 2 to get.

I want to go mad with power lol.
Octa Core!
The hardware technology is close to peaking, I think. Flexible screens are just a marketing gimmick for me, and better radios aren't really new tech but refinements of what we already have. Screens are either unbreakable but not unscratchable, or unscratchable but not unbreakable. As for power -- every week we read about how this or that development will give us vastly more powerful batteries (rechargeable in 30 seconds, no less) but the problem is, they've been saying that for the past six or seven years and we're still stuck with the same old Li-Ion technology. Wireless charging still means leaving the phone on some device or other to charge -- only you don't plug it in. Now if my phone's battery would start charging as soon as I walked in the door, I might sit up and take notice.
The only innovations that would give me an incentive to buy a new device (the Note 99, maybe?) on day 1 would be either 128GB or more of storage without a huge increase in price, or a change in Android specs to allow apps to be stored and run from external cards. Not allowing apps to run from external storage has got to be one of Google's more short-sighted ideas, given that each Android iteration, not to mention manufacturer and carrier overlays, seems to eat more and more of available storage space for its own use.

Galaxy Note 8.0
in my country, note 2 now is about 30% cheaper compared to when it was launched. if thats the case in your area and since you are still satisfied with your note2, id wait for a few months until it gets cheaper before buying. as a bonus the official rom you buy might be more stable the the 1st release.
For me, personally, it would have to be a huge increase in onboard storage (I'm thinking 128GB minimum). Also, I would prefer a dedicated micro-HDMI port, instead of crappy MHL. These two things would make me get the GN3 on release day, but if not, I'll stick with my GN2 for the time being.
1080p, Exynos Octa w/LTE, more storage...yeah, I'm probably going to get it at launch. Those are enough to excite me.

Frontal stereo speakers, Adreno 330, Snapdragon 800, metal body, 1080p 64 GB storage... these things are desirable, but still probably wouldn't buy it... and definately not on day one. Just recently got my Note 2
More likely when I switch, it will be to the Note 4... or perhaps some nice HTC/Sony. Maybe even a Nokia EOS, if such a thing ever breaks free from the rumorland....
I want a note 3 with all s4 features minus lag, screen tint and smearing issues (realistic wish list). It would be enough for a year at least. I would prefer a screen of 5.7 inch max, but it should never go beyond 6.0. The battery should be around 4000MAh. I don't care about body but design at least should not be carbon copy of note 2/s4. The minimum storage should be 32gig.
Larger screen without increasing the body size.
Larger battery, and I don't mind making the body slightly thicker either. For me battery life is more important than have it be under 11mm. I think 12mm is fine.
HD display, without a doubt.
SPen upgrade. I love the current generation, but if they can't make it any better then that'll be fine by me.
Next generation processor which I'm sure will be in there.
An awesome camera This one is good, but not that good. I'd much prefer something better.
I think that's it! If they add on a capacitive home button and an extra gig of ram I'm sold.
Thinner, lighter, better battery, full hd and 13mpix camera at least (or better if they can squeeze it). Battery life is fine with me. Processing power I don't care about anymore (it's plenty enough already).

Samsung will never set 32gb as minimum storage. They rather will cut it even more (like in galaxy s4).
Have to say I am impressed with my Note2 so far the best Android phone Ive had. Its the only phone I have not had to tamper with to make it faster. I did root it but no custom rom. Never had it die on me, been using it close to a year now and it still amazes me. Awesome device. The Note 3 would have to be significantly better to justify an upgrade. I agree with with what someone hasmentioned already, i believe we have reached a peak now....and only encremental changes will come. Else if they do decide to go all out with the Note 3...we will all be guinea pigs....like with the first samsung galaxy s.with the note 2 we have the perfect balance between battery life and performance. I still carry a spare battery around...just incase.
