Try Mobo Player. Also, Atrix hasn't had 1080p update from Moto, so if your videos are 1080p they likely won't play if I am thinking correctly.

I believe your attempting to play baseline or highline x264. Unfortunately our nvidea chip will not run that. But, I'm not sure if it is a problem that can be fixed through software. Anyone?

i have done some research on this matter, yes the tegra chip won't play any high profile x264 HD movie (either 720p or 1080p). you have to convert it to main profile x264 and it will play fine.
u can try "handbrake" to convert it and our beloved Atrix will play. you can make a google search to see the tutorial for converting using "handbrake"

Yeah man, very desappointing news... Althought I still have hope that we will be able to do that. After all, we have "Atrix - The world's most powerful phone"
Try using arc media player, out is available on that market for free. Let me know if out works for you

I have not come across a video, hd or otherwise, that I could not play on my Atrix. If one player doesn't work, I go to another one.
The best player for atrix is moboplayer with codec pack.
I can play most of my movies without problems in HD but I have great news for HD mkv viewer.
Power DVD are developing a application which can play HD mkv movies and more.
I read it on androidpit.de

Now that the gnote has a HD screen where can I get HD movies to watch on this beast?
As I now if I go into either Media Hub or Google Movies the HD option is not there as it would be for my tablet.
I would love to watch some HD programming on this thing!

sorry for asking but is that a link to Warez ??
Just rip movies as per usual into either MP4 or MKV and the Note will play it.
Google is your friend here regarding movie ripping (obviously as long as you own the original disc!).
I use a mixture of Anydvd HD and MediaEspresso, amongst other things.
Ps: Movie watching on the Note in 720p is absolutely STUNNING!
Nice. And forgive my ignorance but I download anydvd HD to my laptop and then what? I can put a blue ray disc into my laptop and it'll do the rest or do I need a laptop that can specifically read blue rays?
Otherwords at this time I know I can't put a bluray into my laptop and it'll play it.

I checked it out AnyDVD HD. So I answered my own question.
I do need a Blu Ray for the laptop which I dont have at this time.....

Did you check "mobile high quality" in the options before? Or is it now "more" HD?
PS: My app is version 2.3.4
---------- Post added at 08:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:53 PM ----------
Ok, got an update. It's version 2.4.4 now...
Can you upload APK please? I don't have market.
That's right, the "HQ" (560p) button was replaced by "HD" (720p). Cool. Now it needs download video features and it'll be complete.

Are you on wifi? I've heard someone mention that it only changes to HD when you are on wifi no matter how fast your network connection is. If you are not on wifi it might default to HQ instead of HD.

If you go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715 there is a modded version that will enable HD playback over mobile network. I just renamed the original YouTube app to YouTube.apk.bak, rebooted, then pasted the modded one in its place, rebooted again and it works great. I'm on Chris's 1.7.
Videos are awesome now
I believe the HQ button before was just to play the vids in 480p while it would normally play at 240p, the HD button now streams the 720p version of the clip, while this is good the non HD version is at 240p so for those who dont have fast enough connection to stream 720p they will end up getting a worse quality than before since they will be either forced to wait for an extended time to buffer or settle for 240p.. they should have given us choices.
Hi, when I watch HD videos on Youtube (version 4.0.8E), the video doesn't look HD at all. It's far from looking sharp. This is running off HSPA+ as well as WiFi. Those same videos on my Galaxy S 4G and also on my 22 inch monitor definitely look HD. Although, HD movies I've transferred onto my phone look HD. So it's definitely the Youtube app with the issue. Anyone else getting this?
hmmm. no issues here. version 4.0.8E
There is a YouTube apk floating around here that forces HD onto our phones instead of just HQ. Its in the Android Development and Hacking forum.
Or....click the first link that comes up when you Google YouTube HD xda

This! And also on wifi it should be HD. I'm also wondering if this is a tmo thing. I recall on my Sprint s3 it was HD even on 3g. It would buffer a lot though due to low bandwidth. Don't have it active now to double check.

Hey. I'm new here Thought i'd see if you guys could answer a question for me.
I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what the resolution of videos playing in the nexus 10 youtube app are? I haven't actually got my nexus yet, but I imagine it's the same as my S3, where the player only has a "SD" and "HD" option.
Is the HD just equivilent to 720p? Or will it choose the highest possible resolution for the video? I'm asking this because watching youtube videos in 1080p would be really nice
Thanks!
I am curious too since it does not lt you select.
Pretty sure it's 720p on the app for HD.
I'll do a test when I get home later.
I've been wondering that too
Youtube app will render videos to Hd720p. If you want full 1080p you'll have to use the browser.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the replies.
That's annoying Would be nice if google could update the app for tablets so we can view 1080p videos without having to use the browser.
Google should update the app and give you the option because the browser page is not good in my opinion slow laggy and hard to use with a touch screen.
Why make a Google product and then hinder it with low quality video stream. Honestly its one thing that annoys me with with his tablet how soft videos look from the YouTube app. It does not do this amazing tablet justice , lucky I have nice images to look at lol

Yup, 720p only.
Your right! I did not know that. Google does own youtube since 2005 from what I read.

Its not Google that needs to update, it's YouTube. Google isnt responsible for apps not made by them.
Youtube just needs to start jumping on the band wagon and start supporting higher res streaming.

If google says jump, youtube says how high. They are their subsidiary.
With the Nexus 10 and its supreme display resolution I guess we can expect an update to the YouTube app pretty soon. I expect a 1080p option.
Yes, 1600p would be nice but don't forget at this resolution/bitrate many people won't be able to stream it anymore, at least not in an acceptable time frame.

It was a sarcastic question hence the face. Thanks for joining in on the conversation.
Nexus 10 doesn't come with radio for data hence me asking as if his Nexus 10 did.
I hope this explanation clears things up for you so you aren't confused by sarcasm.
Yeah it would be nice if they updated the app, but I suppose 720p isn't too bad on a 10 inch screen anyway.
Youtube only supports up to 2048x1536 at the moment anyway. Hopfully 1600p youtube will come eventually
Youtube 720p looks surprisingly good on the N10 to me. If they add a 1080p option I definitely hope 720p is still selectable.

Well, let me answer with some numbers:
I have a really high quality video on my N10 (the Timescape Trailer), it's 1440p and 33.5 mbit/sec worth of data.
Even with high compression a 1600p video would be like 10-20 mbit/sec or around 40 mbit/sec in very high quality.
