Are movies, tv shows, magazines, etc., that are purchased or rented through Google Play downloaded to the device or are they streamed? I want to know so I can view them in an area without internet available... Thanks.
by default, they are available via streaming.
but you can "pin" for local playback, where it does download them for offline usage.

Hi there, I was wondering if the phone can play video clips on the browser?
For example, if i go on youtube the video does not play, it says i need flash player or enable java? I downloaded flash player 6 and installed it on my phone and did a soft reset and videos still do not play!
Is there any way in which i can get videos to play of my phone?
Thanks.
www.tinytube.net
Is the only option via tinytube to view videos to download the files vs. streaming? If I choose the stream option my media player says "RTSP protocol not supported!" I can download and view videos, but would sure like the steaming option.
Other than Netflix and Hulu, what sources do you guys use to watch videos on your TF?
I've DL a few magazines and was wondering if there was a way to add those magazines into Google play magazines. The magazines came from elsewhere and not from Google play. If we could get our own music to put on Google music or put our own movies and TV shows on the media player isn't there a way to add magazines on Google play magazines app?
Just bought my shield tv...love it! The latest spmc supports voice search which is great. The problem lies when using it. When I do a voice search for a movie (the big lebow$ki) first a youtube trailer pops up, then info on the cast, then coen brother movies, then jeff bridges movies, etc,etc finally at the very bottom is my copy in spmc. Can I turn off all that other crap so it just shows my copy of the movie? Or at least make spmc the top choice instead of the bottom? I have notifications off for the following apps google play games, google play movies, google play music, live channels, netflix, youtube. According to the app options all the previous mentioned apps say I need to enable them so I believe I have them shutoff. I even went through and changed each one and it change what showed under google voice search. Its the only flaw in a otherwise great media box. Thanx for the help
Hey guys, Came across a great APK which allows you to access the entire playstore on your Android TV.
Yalp Store uses the same (protobuf) API the android Play Store app uses. It downloads apks directly from Google servers.
By default Yalp Store connects to Google services using a built-in account, so you do not have to own a Google account to use it. The only reason to use a live Google account is to access the paid apps you own.
Each time you log in a new Google Services Framework id (also known as device id) is generated using your device parameters.
For us to access all the apps all we need to do is spoof our device ID with another handset (Nexus / Pixel / Samsung tab etc).
You can see a demo of me installing the full version of Google Chrome and also Youtube TV direct on my 4K firestick
Do other apps see this as Play Services also? I have an app that apparently requires Google play services, and it seems that the other method for putting that on the Fire TV 4k is not working anymore.
That's not YouTube TV you are installing. That's YouTube for Android TV. It's just regular Youtube, and not the live TV and DVR version of YouTube TV.
stuck on "check Yalp Store Credential" and no way tonuse mine... sorry...
