Whenever I try to switch my default playback device (headphones to speakers/tv, etc) It will continue to play over the previous default device. For example: I am playing a song on grooveshark over the speakers and switch to headphones by assigning the headphones as default playback device.
In windows 7 this would change the audiostream to the headphones right away, but windows 8 forces me to restart my browser to switch the playback device. This might seem like a small issue, but for people who switch all the time its quite annoying.
Is everyone facing this problem? Or is it related to drivers that are not optimised yet?
(I am running windows 8 pro final)
That sounds like a driver issue, although it could be due to a change in the way the browser itself works (IE10 vs. IE8 or 9). It handles switching between standard headphones or built-in speakers just fine, but I haven't tried it with USB headphones or switching between two external playback targets, yet.

hi all,
can anyone tell me how best to change the settings in PocketPlayer to allow me to use it with bluetooth headphones. At the moment the sound pauses every few seconds and the player itself is unresponsive most of the time, also if i press any button the music stutters, basically its unusable.
so far i have done the following;
with HTCustom, change the bitpool to 40 & normal stereo.
turned off dsp
turned off visualization
turned off equalizer
under the advanced settings there are loads of settings, does changing any of these help? i've tried changing a few with no great success.
Are there any other hacks within WM5 i can apply to get bluetooth stereo working well?
thanks in advance
Get iplay from 40th floor software--uses much fewer resources and sound is great. Also I have done what was recently posted in the hermes forum--delete the bitpool and set usejointstereo to 1 in WM6----sound is great now.
where to download this iplay, evertytime I open the website of this app my email client opens
you can get it from ppcwarez.
i've tried iplay but the problem is still there, though i agree it's less cpu intensive than pocketplayer and the audio clipping has nearly disappeared.
i think i'm going to upgrade to wm6 as it seems to handle bluetooth audio better.
I am in the same situation.
I've concluded that the Trinity has some bug with a2dp or bluetooth, as when you set the bitpool to some decent value, the performance goes down dramatically, even clicking the stylus interrumpts the sound.
As bjrmd stated before, you may try a light player (I'll do), as I've got different results with different players. Pocket Player is by now my best choice, as PocketMusic can't play with the equalizer on.
By the way, I've checked that setting bitpool isn't enough, you may also set MaxSupportedBitpool to the same value (or delete this entry). The higher the value, the slower the Trinity runs.
See some of the other threads regarding WM6 and the correct implementation of joint stereo. To get proper sound and bandwith you must use WM6 and the above settings.
I have a x7500 and using Bluetooth Receiver setup with headphones and headset for phone. Good news is that all of this actually works pretty well overall. Bad news is that my MP3 music players restart automatically after I receive a phone call upon the ending of the phone call I can tell Pocket Player not to restart after the phone call and this works. However, iPlay still wants to start no matter what! Is there any way to tell the audio gateway or A2DP or ???.....NOT to restart music after a phone call ends.
I would appreciate any help on this. I have been searching forums and looking at registry entries but no success in stopping the restarting of music players so far.
that is a software compatibility issue
i have no problem listinging or watching movies via AD2P
when phone comes in, it pauses, and goes to Phone mode
when i finish talking, and hang up
it switches back to Music / Movie mode in AD2P
no restart no issues at all
using CorePlayer
i got 3 different headsets
Jabra BT8010
Moto HT820
Sony DS970
they all work perfectly
my guess is the Pocket Player you are using?
try another Audio Player software
Yes. I agree. It is a compatability issue but sometimes there are still options to exert control. So Pocket Player has option to restart after phone call but iPlay does not. Thus Pocket Player offers pretty good control in this area. However, it just so happens that iPlay has some very, very high end features that I really like but just does not have the phone handling at this time with the version that I have (although plays fine thru Bluetooth). I am hoping there might be some registry setting to tell A2DP not to try to restart music after a phone call.
Anyone ever heard of the ability to do this?
doesn't have to be a software issue. I have the same problem but with Touch Flo 3D skin. It starts playing music after the call, even if before the call I wasn't listening to the music I've tried to disable the Touch Flo 3D, but then the standard Media Player starts after the call . I have to remember to turn off the music after every call - it's driving me crazy!!
Hello.
I like to listen to alot of podcasts (from different sources) sometimes when listening to audio shows particular ones seem to have a cyclic noise distortion (that is quite annoying). The thing is.... that it appears in TCPMP (Version 0.72RC1) but NOT in Windows Media Player (Version 10.3 Build 18136).
Is there a particular setting that would get rid of the cyclic noise distortion?
I have fiddled with several but have had no success.
Also...
I havent checked the audio player scene in a while.... I am looking for a player that behaves like TCPMP with the addition full bluetooth headset control (like windows Media Player)
I look toward any responses.
Thank you for your time

Hello guys,
I'm facing a problem and I simply can't seem to find any info on the web on how to go about fixing it...
There is a sound quality issue when I connect my Huawei P8 Lite to my Alpine UTE-72BT Head Unit. Aside from the fact that it keeps disconnecting at random, it sounds as though the bitrate isn't high enough on transfer, thus producing sort of a "crackling" effect on the highs (something similar to clipping). I've also read that some other users have experienced issues with bass being much louder, although I can't say for sure that this is the same case.
It's regardless of the music source, be it internal storage, with 320 kbps mp3s (converted from FLACs) or Spotify on extreme quality (both from downloaded and from streaming on LTE). I haven't faced the same issue with a Microsoft Lumia 640, for example, and neither with music played from USB, so the issue is isolated to the P8. The issue seems to "fade away", so to speak, if connected to the phone via AUX cable (Cordial cable, high quality, as well). The fact of the matter is that: 1. Music played over AUX tends to be more dull, as if though it applies a wide band pass filter and 2. AUX lacks the ability to control phone media via the headunit, which makes the point of having a bluetooth player absolutely pointless.
So far, I've tried the following:
- deactivate wireless - as I've heard speculations of bluetooth and wireless being combined into a single chip;
- use EQing apps, such as Dolby Atmos (actually, this was the moment I noticed the crackling, on account of the fact that highs can be controlled much better with Dolby's app);
- Update firmware on HU (more like a refress, to be honest. I was already running the latest bluetooth firmware);
- Updated to Marshmallow (B550);
I'm guessing that there is some issue with the codecs used to transmit data to the player, although I wouldn't know how to go about modyfing them, as the only resource I've found, up to now, is related to a Samsung S2. Counting on the fact that there might be some OS modifications (in what regards coding standards and such), I consider that the resource would not be very helpful.
If there's anyone out there willing to help me find a solution, I would very much appreciated, and, also, if there is any info that I have omitted, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you!
I recently switched headphones from MDR-XB950BT's to MDR-XB950N1's. I started noticing an intermittent, half-second drop in audio, like what you would hear if you were starting to go out of range of the phone. Both models are almost identical, except for some extra controls and noise cancelling being added to the N1's. With the extra settings disabled, the dropping continues. I didn't realize it before I switched, but they both support the AptX codec (as well as AAC). There is a power-on option for both to start up forcing the 'better' codecs and another to force SBC. Forcing AptX changed nothing, but forcing SBC eliminated the drops. I tried using a Galaxy S8+ (unmodded) and an iPhone 7 and they didn't seem to have the issue. I exchanged the headphones just in case. The replacement set does the same thing.
So, I started changing settings in /etc/bluetooth/bt_stack.conf, turning off everything optional and changing the codec preference order. I found that anything other than SBC causes these audio drops. Checking logcat, I don't see any messages reporting issues with the audio stream. I disabled Viper4Android, which I had read has no ill-effects on AptX anyway, and the issue persists. I switched from roms from WETA to Mega, to even Notsostock, got drops on all of them. I also tried different media players.
I'm stuck. I can't figure out why the old set doesn't have an issue using AptX and I can't seem to get this phone to work properly with the new set. One of the hype points for this phone was AptX HD, which I read is backward compatible, but I can't seem to use it without hearing annoying pauses in audio. Anyone have any ideas on what I could do to fix AptX?
Phone config:
H910 running MegaROM 4.0
I have the Sony WH1000x BT headphones that support Aptx HD. I have no issues. When Aptx HD is in use i get a notification. I use the Onkyo Hi Res music player or the standard LG player. I use the standard ROM.
