[HOW TO][FIX] Recover your IMEI - RAZR HD General

DISCLAIMER
USE THIS METHOD AT YOUR OWN RISK.
THE TOOLS INVOLVED ARE VERY POWERFUL. THEIR USAGE IS VERY RISKY. BE AWARE AND PAY EXTRA ATTENTION TO WHAT YO ARE DOING.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PC OR PHONE OR ANY EQUIPMENT ATTACHED GET DAMAGED / BROKEN / UNUSABLE.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SOMEHOW GET IN TROUBLE, HURT OR INJURED.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TUTORIAL IS ABOUT RECOVERING YOUR OWN IMEI IN CASE IT GETS CORRUPTED OR DELETED. IT IS NOT ABOUT CHANGING YOUR IMEI TO A DIFFERENT ONE. THIS IS ILLEGAL IN MOST COUNTRIES. I WON'T PROVIDE SUPPORT ON HOW TO DO THIS. DON'T BOTHER ASKING.
PURPOSE
The purpose of of this tutorial is to help people recover their IMEI.
Flashing the leaked SFR (France) 4.1.1 OTA and then flashing back a stock 4.0.4 ROM might as a side effect delete your IMEI, "Settings / About phone / Status" shows "0". With an IMEI set to 0, chances are your phone can't register to any mobile network, meaning no calls, no texts, no data.
There might other scenarios which will end up deleting/corrupting your IMEI. This tutorial might help.
CREDITS
I take absolutely no credits at all for this. A huge "Thank You" to cellzealot for pointing me in the right directions in this post. From then, I understood the idea, the process and the required tools. In addition, I got some details from these threads:
- [HOW-TO][FIX] Repair your IMEI with QPST - updated w/ info. Thanks to PureMotive
- [FIX/TOOL] Backup/Restore/Fix IMEI Data Restore Tool Updated - Updated 9/04/2012!!!. Thanks to Peoplearmy
- RAZR M - USB Drivers and Flashing App. Thanks to compnird
REQUIREMENTS
- a Windows XP 32 bits PC (a Virtualbox VM works OK)
- Motorola pre-release USB 32 bits Drivers v5.9.1
- QPST v2.7.378
- Your IMEI: a 15-digit code
I won't redistribute any of the tools since I'm not authorized to, but I'm pretty sure you can handle this by yourself i.e check out the threads referenced in the CREDITS section...
FOREWORD
This method has been successfully tested on an XT925 running stock Orange (France) ICS ROM. IMEI was set to 0. Software was installed in an XP SP3 running in a Virtualbox 4.2.4 (Debian host).
Other people reported successful IMEI recovery with different setups:
- running XP in with VMware Workstation 9
- running the required drivers/tools in Win7 64 bits & Win 8 64 bits
PROCEDURE
1/ Install the Motorola pre-release USB 32 bits Drivers v5.9.1 on your Windows XP 32 bits PC. Make sure to install all the embedded drivers. Windows might ask you to confirm for each of them. Just go ahead.
2/ Install QPST v2.7.378. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable is a prerequisite.
3/ Boot up your device in BP Tools Mode (while your device is on, hold Vol-/Vol+/Power buttons for a few seconds until the screen turns black, then release Power. Another few seconds later comes up the boot menu. Release Vol-/Vol+, then quickly press Vol- a few times to highlight "BP Tools" then Vol+ to trigger it). The device will start as usual (with extra features turned on).
4/ Plug your device into your PC (USB port)
5/ Run QPST Configuration from your Windows Start menu. Switch to the second tab ("Ports") and choose "Add new port" (bottom left button). You should see a COM port associated with "USB/QD Diagnostic". Select it, then press Ok. You can close the QPST Configuration window now.
6/ Open Windows Explorer and browse to "C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\QPST\bin" (or wherever you installed QPST) and launch RF_NV_Manager.exe. In RF NV Manager, Go to "Settings / Comport". You should see your COM port in the dropdown box. Select it, then press OK.
7/ Go to "File" and choose "Read from phone". RF NV Manager will read all NV items from the phone. Now if you see item #550, you will be able to alter it (see below). If you can't find it, you're gonna have to create it first. Choose "Option / Customize NV item list", then find item #550 on the left listbox and transfer it to the listbox on the right, then Save. You should see item #550 in the main listbox now.
8/ Now comes the critical step of altering the IMEI. Select item #550 and you'll see 9 boxes on the right, a "Write NV" button and an "Hex" checkbox.
First of all, check the "Hex" checkbox.
Now, you'll have to enter the IMEI in the 9 boxes in a very specific way. Check out the explanation below, copy/pasted from [FIX/TOOL] Backup/Restore/Fix IMEI Data Restore Tool Updated - Updated 9/04/2012!!!:
The Hex values for your IMEI will consist of no more than 2 characters per a box and must match your IMEI or it will not take the values you enter.
The IMEI is also listed in a special order so you must follow this guide to ensure your IMEI is correct.
The first box will always be an 8.
The second digit in the second box will always be a.
Example if your IMEI was: 954091051099226, then the boxes would look like so:
8
9a
45
90
1
15
90
29
62
Click to collapse
9/ You can then press "Write NV" to write the IMEI value to your phone.
10/ Once done, unplug the device, and reboot it.
That's it. Check your IMEI. Hopefully, it's been successfully recovered. If not, well, ...
Good luck!
EDIT: Please report if you successfully recovered your IMEI, and give as many details as possible i.e about your device (XT925/XT926), your ROM, your PC (physical/virtual machine type and version..., Windows version). Thanks.

@ kaktuss77: Are you able to detail how you managed to get this to work on 64-bit Windows 7?

I did it on windows 8 I can assist you.

Worked for me, Thanks
I am still on JB France, but had downgraded.
I used Windows XP 32bit guest on Vmware Workstation 9 running on Windows 8 machine.

Is it possible to change imei with these tools on XT925 ?

it's illigal.

I am just asking if it is possible or not, not asking about its legitimacy

Please don't ask. Refer to the disclaimer in the first post. Thank you.

edit
don't foget the "a" and "hex" ^^
Worked on Windows 8 64 bit

Don't forget anything whenever you are editing the NVM!
This is dangerous territory and you need to pay attention and respect the software tools you are using.

Any way to port this method to samsung galaxy note? My imei at the moment is a generic one and not the real one i think i had a problematic flash of a rom and it changed. I have checked the back up nv files but they are all new and not when i had my original imei.
Any help would be appreciated i have random network drops im guessing because of the strange imei

Help!
Hello, good evening. I do not have any computers with XP installed. would have a more practical method that does not involve the utilization of XP? My telafone is no EMEI after the downgrade of 4.1.
I'm desperate, because I have only 2 weeks with the device. My bootloader unlocked this.

I did it with Windows 8 x64

---from cellzealot on how to load Win7 x64 drivers---
cellzealot said:
Here is a screenshot of Device Manager on my PC on WIN7 64 bit with the latest 6.2 Motorola USB drivers and my XT907 connected in BP Tools mode with all of the interfaces highlighted.
There are 3 modems, 1 network device and 1 COM port that should be present and installed.
The 6.2 driver set has signed versions for these device interfaces so no force loading should be required and they should install automatically when the phone is connected in BP Tools mode with USB debugging enabled.
Make note of the port number assigned to the COM Port as that is the port you will use for CDMA WS or DFS or any other QC based NV access tool.
The QC Interface is the Motorola QC Diag Port.
Right click and choose Update Drivers then choose Do not load drivers automatically. Allow me to choose from a list of available devices.
Scroll down to Ports: COM/LPT and then Motorola and then Motorola QC Diag Port.
It will warn about unsigned drivers, just click Install anyway and it will load the driver and show up with a COM port number assigned.
Use that COM port for CDMA WS to edit the NV.
If you continue to have problems, I suggest reflashing the firmware or just the modem and fsg.mbn in fastboot, and starting over.

This is the same method that has been posted for a long time. The only difference is that the old method used RadioComm.

Yeah this method is a bit easier, given RadioComm's daunting interface. What version of CDMA WS did you use? The website lists Free/Lite/Ultimate, but it's not clear if that's just determined by the key that you enter.

Yes, my GSM SIM worked fine on stock and based on stock roms, but when I tried CM 10.2 for xt926 (Android 4.3) it just couldn't find my mobile network. CM 10.2 for xt925 finds network but can't connect to them automaticly or manually, so I want to try this tutorial for CM10.2 for xt926.

There's a patch for the gsm but people are reporting no luck so far with CM 10.2 4.3 based ROMs on the Razr M. This method does not help that but if you find out otherwise id like to know
My phone xt926 is working on PacMans ROM. I followed these instructions. Did a full wipe including system. Installed the PacMan Gsm ROM. Everything but UMTS works. Edge data works fine.
UMTS works fine with the stock ROM. I wonder if of is a seem edit or build prop issue to get it working on AOSP ROMs

Flash Me, maybe?
I now have HSPA+ working on my phone with PacMan.
In case anyone is interested in either thanking me for being brilliant or roast me for sucking at searching for pre existing solutions, I'll post my steps here.
1. Flash to stock using RSD Lite and the newest Verizon files from here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish/list.php
2. Follow the instructions from either this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389740 or this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542 I used the RadioComm method because screw drivers
3. Ensure the new gsm sim is registered and working on the network.
4. Download the your favorite ROM. I am using the PacMan 4.3
5. In recovery wipe everything including the system, cache and dalvik cache
6. Install Rom and wipe cache again
7. Boot, login, and download Viaero 4g toggle or press *#*#4636#*#* and change the phone to GSM/wcdma (prl).
8. Add this to your bulid.prop thanks to mattwheat at droidrzr.com. http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...et-data-and-smsmms-working-on-xt926-422-roms/
Edit build props to reflect this :
ro.carrier= T-Mobile (or your carrier)
ro.telephony.default_network = 9
telephony.rilV7NeedCDMALTEPhone = false
8. ????????
9. Profit
I hope this helps.

Rooted Locked Razr M/ How do I get recovery/GSM Straight Talk

The situation is this: Friend got a Droid Razr M, and I went and rooted it. I have learned that it's impossible pretty much to unlock the bootloader since his was built May 24th and has the most current OTA update.
What he would like to have is the phone on the Straight Talk Network. He would also like a custom recovery and ROM. I'm a little lost on this phone and have spent 3 hours reading at least on the forum between last night and this afternoon. Is it possible someone could give me some pointers?

I prefer using the NV Item method with CDMA NV-Items Reader Writer, offered free from CDMA-Ware.
(Credits for this go to tehjolly81 for his PagePlus guide to connect phone)
1) With the phone off, do the three-finger salute (hold Volume Up and Down and Power to boot) and boot into BP Tools mode (looks just like normal boot).
2) Now connect phone to PC via USB cable. If you are on Win7 x64 like me, Windows should find 4 new devices but won't have the drivers to install any of them. If prompted to install anything by Windows, (i.e., Add New Hardware Wizard, etc) cancel out of it.
3) Click 'Start' -> right click on 'Computer' and choose 'Properties'. Click on 'Device Manager' on the left. Here you should see 4 items from the phone that are missing a driver (they will have a yellow question mark next to them).
4) One of the items with a question mark should be labeled something similar to "QC Interface" (NOT the NMEA interface). Right click on it and choose Update Driver Software. Now choose Browse my computer for driver software -> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer -> Show all devices -> Motorola -> Motorola QC Diag Port. Finish running through the wizard and it should install the correct driver. After installed, it should show the COM Port # that the diagnostic interface is installed on under the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section of Device Manager.
After getting the QC Interface and getting a com port, just download the free NV-Items reader writer from Here.
Unrar the exe and run it;
1: Select the com port of your phone and hit connect
2: Press read at the top, bottom should say this: Log message: > SPC is correct. Phone unlocked
3: In Range (Dec): put 8322 in the left box 8323 in the right box and hit read; it will prompt to save as a text file.
4: Open the file and change the first 01 to 00 under the 8322 section DO NOT MODIFY 8323. Save the changes.
5: Tap Write and select the saved text file, it should show Writing NV-items from a file: Done at the bottom.
6: Tap Mode > Reset then tap Disconnect and close the program, GSM should work fine after that.
I find this method easier and less dangerous than the Radiocomm method.
This is *IF* you want to use Straight Talk's GSM BYOP, they DO offer CDMA BYOP now, which then should just activate like a normal Verizon phone after you buy their network code and activate the MEID with them.

imei changed using QPST Qualcomm config !!

so i bought my set second handed d802 but when i checked its imei no it showed 15 digit no and then i checked it in

then i used the following method to change my imei number
I found this some where here in XDA which was triggered to restore imei no . I

[HOW TO] Recover HARD BRICKED Nokia X2 : DOESN'T TURN ON, NO VIBRATION, NO LIGHT

So, Guys. Myself thought of writing this thread so that you can prevent yourselves from entering into danger as well as get rid of it even if you enter by mistake.
As you all know that, we are currently facing an issue of SIM offline, myself got into the trouble (as per me, when i insert a sim in sim 1, device recognizes the network provider but there is no signal. sim 2 is fine) and inorder to rectify that issue, i tried all possible ways like deleting IMEI and rewriting it, changing modem etc.
But nothing worked and so thought of using NOKIA CARE SUIT (NCS) >> Product Support Tool For Store 5
& change the firmware to Nokia X2DS RM-1013 059V782 v2.1.0.13 which was the biggest mistake which i ever committed and it resulted in hard brick.
I suggest everyone not to flash 2.1.0.13 version please
In my case, i was not even able to use the volume buttons and power button inorder to get to bootloader or custom recovery. Trust me, i'm not a noob but i do know the situation in which i'm and searched everywhere and took help of lots of guys and finally found the solution to it.
Just follow these steps:
A. Requirements:
1. Nokia Firmware - Thanks to Firmware27
2. QPST_2.7.422
3. QDLoader HS-USB Driver
B. Procedure:
1. Extract Requirement - 1, 2, 3 separately.
2. Now Install requirement - 2 & in Requirement - 3, just install Setup
3. Now connect USB to NOKIA X2 & Laptop/PC
4. Click on the start menu and type QFIL in search box and open it.
5. Under "SELECT PROGRAMMER", click on the browse button and
select "rm1013_2.1.0.13_user_prog_emmc_firehose_8x10. mbn" from the Requirement - 1
6. Under "DOWLOAD", you will find "LOAD XML" and now click on that and a window will appear infront you :silly:
7. Now in the window, type *.xml in the file name so that the xml files will show up.
8. Now select "rm1013_2.1.0.12_059V787_001_rawprogram_unsparse_ui"
9. Soon another window will show up automatically and now type *.xml in the file name so that the xml files will show up.
10. Now select "P12026702dpi600_label_layout"
11. Now Click on the "DOWNLOAD" just button below the Load XML button.
- Make sure your device is connected to the PC/lappy through cable :silly:
Everything is done. Now sit back and Relax.
Your NOKIA X2 will bootup and it looks exactly like device when you purchased except the scratches and all
Note:
I'm not responsible if your device is bricked. Ofcourse if you are doing this, it means that your device might have already been bricked and i guess there is no other way except this to make it right
This works with all the snapdragon chipset devices.

How to unlock any Huawei Bootloader after removal of unlock page including Mate SE

Hello All!
I was disappointed when I received my Huawei Mate SE BND-L34 (USA) 2 days ago that I could not unlock the bootloader because Huawei removed the unlock page from their website. Even after talking to support via live chat and email I could not get any help from them. So I decided to do my own research.
DISCLAIMER: THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE! THIS INCLUDES INTERNAL STORAGE! I am not responsible for any lost data or bricked devices!
Getting your Unlock Code:
1. First you need to go to https://www.dc-unlocker.com/ and register for an account. Do not download their software!
2. Instead download the software at https://hcu-client.com/
3. Install drivers via HiSuite if you have not.
4. View the supported devices page. Now the Mate SE is not listed as a supported device but it did work for my device (Mate SE).
5. Make sure your drivers are installed via HiSuite.
6. Now go into https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy and buy 4 credits. This is needed for the software. Cost is 4 EUR ($5)
7. Launch HCU-Client and connect your phone.
8. Open the dialer on your phone and enter *#*#2846579#*#* select “Background settings”, “USB ports settings”, “Manufacture mode”.
9. Now in HCU Client log into your account (Check your Email for info) click Read Phone Info.
10. Go to Unlock tab and choose Read Bootloader code. It says it will wipe your device but mine did not get wiped until I unlocked my phone. This will take a couple of minutes. Watch the right terminal window. It should spit out your code.
Using your Unlock Code:
1. Turn off your phone, Boot your device into Fastboot mode with Vol down and power button.
2. CD to where you downloaded ADB/Fastboot Tools
Run these commands when inside ADB tools directory
a) fastboot devices. (your device should bee listed. If not reinstall drivers/reboot)
b) fastboot oem get-bootinfo (just to confirm everything is detected correctly
c) fastboot oem unlock <your_unlock_code>
3. Acknowledge the prompt on your phone. Device will be WIPED!
4. Once the wipe finishes it will take several minutes for phone to boot up. Do not panic. Once you See Huawei logo you are OK!
To root your Mate SE and Install TWRP follow this guide: http://www.desinerd.co.in/how-to-huawei-mate-se-root-twrp-recovery/
Do not use the Magisk Zip in that post. Instead grab it from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

dude thanks so much it worked!!! on the honor 7x!!
EDIT: To my surprise it actually worked

The tool is safe. It's a false positive. If you are unsure Go read the HCU-Client forums.
Its your decision but I haven't noticed any ill effects. You can always run it in a VM.
Ok. Thanks

Stupid program won't run on my computer. Saw someone else on the dc-unlocker forums with the same problem. They linked a version to download but the link is dead now. I think this phone really wants to be returned.

You can try DC-locker instead of HCU-Client. I just find HCU easier to use.
Are u on Windows 10? If not make sure you have latest. NET Framework installed. Try running in compatibility mode.

Yes, Win 10. DC-unlocker link in the Android app shows 7x BND-L34 as compatible but it's not in the drop-down box of the Windows app and doesn't get autodetected .

Yea only thing I can think of is make sure latest .Net framework is installed and latest Visual C. Maybe try compatibility mode
The DC-unlocker problems were my fault. After getting the drivers right, it detected my phone and pulled the unlock code.

Logged into this account for the first time in YEARS just to say thanks a lot for this. I was pretty gutted when I found that Huawei removed their Unlock link and refused to give codes to anyone even via support emails.
I was super hesitant to try this though, I'll admit. Spending money on what (to me) looked like a shady site was the biggest red flag. But decided to bite the bullet and do it.
The only issue I had was that my phone DID get shut down after the bootloader code was read, which caused ADB not to be able to read my phone (adb devices) for some reason. So I had to turn it on, reboot fastboot via adb and then proceed from there. But that was the only issue I had.
So again, thanks a ton for this. :good:
Got problems making this work. Hope you don't mind helping an Android newbie.
Step 7 is to "start client". On Windows 10 I had to disable the virus scan just to see the HCU.exe from the extract. When I click on it I get "This application was unable to start correctly 0xc150002". Ideas? A previous step is to install drivers. I downloaded HiSuite and and made sure I could connect to my device. Does "installing drivers" mean something more ? Thanks.

Nope you are good on the drivers. Nothing else to be done.
As for the error code I recommend disable your Anti-virus and the built in Windows Defender and then re-downloading the program. If it still doesn't work you can try the DC-unlocker program instead of HCU-Client. It should work I just have only used HCU-CLIENT.

Finally got my unlock code! Many thanks to Sandman-007 and foltz61 for their help.
Following instructions from #1 of this thread, I could not (like others here) get the hcu client working on my PC. So here are my instructions on using DC-unlocker instead:
1. Go to consumer.huawei.com / minisite / HiSuite_en/
Download HiSuite. Install it on PC. Connect Phone to PC. In HiSuite click connect to my device.
(May have to enter Developper Mode on Phone: Settings>About Phone>Tap 7 times on your Build number. Enable USB debugging.)
2. Go to www .dc-unlocker .com / buy
Item : New user account, User name you want, Your email, Credits: 4
They will send you a email with a username and password you will need later ...
3. Go to www .dc-unlocker .com / downloads
Download DC-unlocker client to PC. Install it.
4. With Phone still connect to PC, use phone dialer enter *#*#2846579#*#*
Select “Background settings”, “USB ports settings”, “Manufacture mode”.
5. Now start the dc-unlocker client on the PC.
Enter: Huawei Phones (not modems) + Auto Detect + Click Search Icon. You will then see some on your phone info.
6. Click on "Server" and enter your username and password from the email you got at step 2.
7. Click on "Unlocking" + Read Boodloading code. Voila! Copy paste your code somewhere safe!
After giving me my code, my phone shut down. I just re-started it and all was fine.
(To get a better idea, the youtube video v=Lgph755EbKEcovers steps 4 to 7.)
I just did some searching, in my backup images. And I found the unlock code inside the "splash2.img"
/dev/block/mmcblk0p19
Still looking into possible ways to read this from inside the phone, and from locked phone too.
NVM, I think splash2.img is just some type of log file
Is there any other way to get the bootloader unlock code? I tried to buy credits and they refunded me because my paypal is not verified.
Or does anybody out there have a license and would be willing to run my IMEI to get my code? I am at a loss of what else to do.

Why don't you just verify your PayPal or use a credit card?
Someone can't just run your IMEI to get an unlock code. Only way is if they reprogram their device to use your IMEI. That's illegal.
You should NEVER under any circumstances just hand it out. Especially with this tool. Someone with this tool could steal your IMEI and knock you offline.
