Hi all,
My girlfriend's Droid X started having some major bugs yesterday night and I couldn't even open any apps without immediate force closes. It kept saying memory was full even though I managed to uninstall a few apps and delete things directly from the SD card. It was running CM7.
I decided to flash a new rom - liberty rom 3 - by using the ROM toolbox app. After downloading the app I clicked install and nothing happened so I booted into CWM recovery and did a factory reset and then installed the liberty rom zip directly from CWM. The phone then failed to boot and I found myself on a bootloader screen with white text on a black background with "bootloader 30.04" at the top.
I tried to get into CWM to recover to a previous CWM backup image I had on the SD card but couldn't get into CWM. I was able to access the android recovery at this point but didn't know what to do with it. I then used RSDlite to SBF a .602 version onto the phone which seemed to work but the last step involves pulling battery and booting into android recovery and then doing a format data/factory reset. I can't get into android recovery for some reason. I tried home button + power but nothing. I then used a bootable linux drive to SBF the phone which succeeded but still no ability to get into android recovery or boot into any OS.
When I boot the phone it just comes directly to the bootloader screen version 30.04 with "err:A5,70,70,00,1F followed by MEM_MAP Blank, Service Req'd, Battery OK, OK to program, Connect USB data Cable" on the screen.
Please help me to get this phone working again. I feel awful about screwing up my gf's phone and this is an important weekend for her to have it.
Thanks
try ezSBF for dx
it's in my list

MEM_MAP BLANK means you were on 621. You can't flash an earlier version. You'll have to SBF 621 with RSD Lite or use the Linux CD using Milestone 604.

I was adding a new custom ROM to my Droid 2 because I wasn't happy with the Epic ROM so I went with the VZW 2.4.5 Clean ROM, I wanted to add the kangerade blue theme to it but accidently installed the wrong version of it over my ROM and now my phone is in a constant boot loop. sometimes it stays at the droid eye for a while and then load into the lock screen but will go right back into the boot sequence.
When it does boot into the lock screen there is not enough time for me to get into the bootstrapper app to boot into recovery mode.
are there any other ways to get into recovery mode? I've searched high and low on this forum and others as well.
I want my droid back =[
Have you tried to pull the battery and then put it back in. Everytime I do that, I end up at recovery thing.
yup, i've pull the battery many times. i've got it into the android recovery screen but when I to the data/cache format it just brings me to the green android starting screen and goes back into the boot loop, what's weird is that the theme is still applied to the phone

Hmmm. Kind of a roundabout process, but did you make a backup. I'd just restore it to a backup and then go from there.
i can't get into the clockwork recovery, just the stock android recovery. are there any backdoors that i could use with adb?
Try taking the battery out during the boot animation a few times, if that doesn't get you to clockwork recovery you've probably lost your recovery. I've noticed that I sometimes (or always?) Lose clockwork when installing a Rom. If that is the case you may have to sbf unless you can get adb to work from the lockscreen.

how would I go about doing an sbf? could you point me in the right direction?
On this forum three posts down is a guide. Follow the guide exactly, except you will have to put your phone in bootloader mode since it will not turn on and stay on. Do do this, hold the up button on the dpad when you turn it on.
It works, i just did it yesterday. First time ive ever had to flash SBF, and i did ALOT of roms and modding on my D1. The bootstrap is nice but not as nice as a full bootloader.

cool. i think i found the guide. it says backup my sd card to my computer..this doesn't delete everything on the sd card does it?
(not a huge concern since having a working phone is better than losing all my stuff on my memory card)
okay. I tried doing what the tutorial said and I got an error on my bootloader that says
"Critical Error: DEA1"
EDIT:
Well it looks like it was just a simple "I need to update my rsd lite program"
I was using the 4.5 and I read that 4.9 was out so I gave updating RSDLITE a shot and boom, the phone is reflashing as we speak
My sd card is intact... untouched from what I can tell. I had no apps2sd though (with 8 gigs on board why would I?)

Where is the RSD Lite 4.9? All I come across is 4.7.

hey everyone, my sister wanted me to root/install a new rom on her droid 2 which i did however i made the mistake by loading clockwork mod, and tried installing the rom and theme through CWM and now the phone just stays stuck at the Motorola droid 2 screen, i tried booting back to recovery and wiped everything but nothing works (it keeps booting into CWM when i enter recovery mode also) please help!
Try SBFing the latest fireware 2.3.20
Its really easy
If it still doesn't work instead of doing in on the windows tutorial
do SBF for linux
I think my phone bricked too. It wont get off the m screen
Use koush's bootstrap to install things on the D2 us and your sister will thank you.

so i figured everything out and as i was about to flash sbf 2.3.20 i got the dreaded batt low cannot proceed and i don't have a spare battery or battery charger FML...
So I've been running MIUI 1.8.whatever for a few weeks and finally realized there hadn't been an update in a while. After discovering MIUI move into the 1.9.Xs I downloaded 1.9.16 and proceeded to update via CWM. While updating it told me 1.9.16 runs off the Gingerbread kernel. At that point I got worried since I had been running the Froyo kernel since I rooted my DX.
After the update I told it to reboot and now it gets stuck at the white M logo. I can boot into regular recovery but I CANNOT get my phone to boot into CWM recovery so I can run the backup!
I've tried every button combination with no luck. i've booted into regular recovery and selected reboot having read that it will boot back into CWM recovery. Needless to say that didn't work either. And lastly I tried running RSDLite to SBF the phone to .602 but since the phone can't fully boot up RSDLite doesn't see the phone.
That is where I am at and I seek the help and guidance of you much smarter folks to help me get my phone at minimum to CWM recovery.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Boot the phone into bootloader mode, then SBF.

I got it into bootloader mode now, but my computer isn't finding the OMAP drivers and the installation keeps failing. How can I get these drivers onto my computer? RSD isn't seeing the phone even in bootloader so these drivers seem to be the key.
You can find the drivers in this thread:

I got RSDLite to see the phone. Now when I try to flash it, it makes it all the way to checking the checksums (which all pass) then tries to switch the phone to BP passthrough. It keeps failing to switch the phone to BP passthrough and now my phone will only boot to the Bootloader screen and says Code Corrupt. It'll let me run the flash again but RSDLite keeps failing at that BP passthrough switch.
Thats where i'm at now.
Try a different SBF file. I had problems like this when i tried to SBF once, but once I found the SBF file that works for me, its always worked since. (I've had to SBF like 6 times now haha)
will find an older sbf file and try that. Wil let you know.
Alright we've made progress! I was able to finally get the phone SBF'd to .602. Then I rocked the Pete's Droid Rooting program and all seemed to have gone smoothly... Except I cannot boot into CWM recovery at all! I've ensured ROM Manager has the correct flash for CWM installed, but when I click Reboot into CWM Recovery, it'll reboot normally. So I turned the phone off and held the Home + Power button to boot into regular recovery. I get the ! logo with the green android, but when I hit hte Search button nothing happens.
So now I'm rooted, but can't get to CWM Recovery to install ROMS.
What do you guys think?
Yeah, Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager doesn't work for me usually either...in fact, I had to go into the Bootstrapper app, install the recovery again, and then hit Reboot Recovery. This is on Apex though, but can't hurt to try it.
Yea I finally got it figured out. Its been so long since I originally rooted my phone I forgot all about D2Bootstrapper. And I didn't read the how-to guide for updating to MIUI 1.9.16 so that was all on me.
Hey everyone.
I've been rooted for a bit, and decided to finally try my hand at some custom roms. I experimented with a bunch on an old OH Droid I had lying around and felt like I wanted to use Cyanogen on my actual phone (the Dx.)
I've been rooted on .602, have had titanium backup and clockworkmod for a bit, so I went and got Dx Bootstrap today as well. Did all my backups and preperations, loaded up bootstrap, said it did is successfully, and when I tried to enter recovery, I would get hung at a black screen upon powering on.
With a battery pull, I have no problem rebooting as normal, but can't enter recovery via bootstrap, CWM or just the general holding down home button while powering on (then, it gets stuck on the ! screen.)
Anyone have any ideas whats stopping me from entering recovery?
When u r on gingerbread ur suppose to use Droid 2 bootstrapper and recommend download rom manager and flashing the latest recoveryrecovery

I am in need of some help with my Droid 2 that I rooted and flashed. Everything was going smoothly up until I flashed the rom and now i am stuck at the Motorola M and in a boot loop. I have pulled the battery and tried to re-install and still nothing. I re-installed to sbf and tried the whole process over multiple times and still nothing. I have watched many how to videos even though this is my 4th time rooting a phone i know they are all different, and i seem to be doing all the right steps and no matter what i do im stuck at the Motorla Logo. Please help!
What are you flashing it from? Froyo? GB?
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
I've tried both medthods...Froyo originally. So I tried OTA to GB and then flash it...that didnt work either. What is the last sbf for the droid 2 anyway?
You should be on OTA GB when flashing it.
Check your MD5, lots of people seem to be having problems getting it to match.
Look at my thread on the Droid 2 Global section.. do steps 9-11 only.

If you're flashing Liberty you can try using Rom Manager. Otherwise after you install GB and root, install Bootstrapper, run it's installation tab then recovery. Once in recovery wipe cache, wipe data, then select zip from sd and install.
Make sure you have the proper version of Liberty for your phone.
Hi, I am also having the same issue
I had Liberty 2.0 v2.0.1 and wiped data and installed from SD, stuck at splash screen
I pulled the battery and tried 2 more times, still same issue
Then I wiped the cached, wiped data and installed from SD and I'm still stuck at the splash screen, any help is greatly appreciated!
1) Try wiping davlik cache as well
2) Make sure you have the version of Liberty designed for your handset. It shouldn't flash anyway if it's the wrong one, but anything is possible.
Are you guys using Rom Manager or Bootstrapper by the way? Just wondering.
Also, if you're coming from a Rom already on there and you mess up you can use Clockwork to restore your last saved system image.
