[DISCUSSION] Android 2.3.5 for Stock: Better? - XPERIA X8 General

Lukenda has claimed at least twice that this particular version of Gingerbread (2.3.5) runs better on stock kernel... His opinion.
So, come on Lukenda, tell us more.
Anyone who has toyed with this version is more than welcomed to chime in.
One particular thing worth noticing is that no stable release of CyanogenMod is based around 2.3.5.

MiniCM7 2.0.7 is based on 2.3.5 and it's stable

yes i did and i based it on a long time of using them.
there is a stable 2.3.5 rease by nAa
,there are few minor bugs but i dont mind them.
try to use minicm7 2.0.7 and some 2.3.7
rom such as gdx.
make a comparison between those two and test battery speed in apps such as YouTube and internet browsers.
All games I have been able on 7 rom were playable on .5 rom.
Please test for your self and report.

Let me repeat myself. there's no stable release of CyanogenMod based around 2.3.5: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/CyanogenMod_7_Changelog
Stable release, as in final release, as opposed to a nightly release or a release candidate.

*Sigh*
I was really hoping for something better than that. Your claim that the 2.3.5 is indeed better is totally unfounded.
The only thing you are left with after that kind of testing is that for your use MiniCM is better than other ROMs and the hypothesis that it might be because of the android version.
You could have at the very least get your hands on GingerDX v015 to test your claim.
And if anyone is interested in actual testing, a proper way would be to compare GingerDX v015 to GingerDX v016.
To take it a step further comparing XGin 5.4 to XGin 6.0 and kuyaDROID v3.2.175 to v.4.3.233 (which I think was the next available release) would be needed.

I still have the original nAa's GB (2.3.5 for stock kernel) rom, so if anybody is interested in testing that rom, i'll ask nAa if i could reupload it on MF if nobody finds a working link .

Mini Cm6 1.0.0 with your Modules
Im using Nexus V2 for X8 and it works like a charm. And of course with the overclock, Mddi and Gesture Pinch to zoom module.
Stock SE 2.1.1, because I find it to be more stable than the CM6 and CM7 ROMs atm and with the CM6 and CM7 ROMs I find that my phone tends to overheat a bit.
Roland
Floyo 0. 20. Stable ang smoother than any of those OCed ROMs

I don't agree. CM6 is much more stable than Eclair, especially after extendent use.
If your phone is suffering overheat, try to remove overclock module...
I had try any custom roms..,floyo 015,minicm 6,and arc-x8...,but i desire to choice floyo 015..,minicm 6 its good roms and everthing worker, but something wrong with perfomance phone..,so slow for browser internet..,i like arc-x8 roms, its so beautiful with the arc launcher theme.,but its modifikasion from minicm,i think its same with minicm in perfomance..,and i desire to choice floyo coz its good in perfomance and the browser so quick..,i will try floyo 020 later.

Hi doixanh!
I used CM6 for a long while, very good and almost everything worked but was slow. Then used racht floyo 0.20, but market wasnt possible to update and phone did not get recognised in 'my settings' section of android market.
Now using GingerFroyo v 1.2.4 - must say it is pretty fast and gives a good user experience. Any thoughts or experience??
Mini CM6 ... coz run faster of some other I try on my phone and I realy need an almost bug free camera.

Now we have fully working 2.2 and 2.3 and nearly fully working 4.0 and im kinda "not waiting" for more updates because i have everything i want from it. I know i bought a cheap low end phone and i think everything is done what should be done.

I'm pretty much new in the Android world. My LG Optimus x2 came with froyo2. 2 and to be honest I was not impressed. But I knew that ics was out there already. So first rom I upgraded was gingerbread and then cm7. But I think my first nightly rom was nova hd based on ics and start flashing almost every day. Til now keep flashing kangs, my LG o2x has been much fun, fast and always up to date.

the first really stable froyo rom -> MiniCM6

I don't like Ics which Gb rom is the most stable right now?

I really don't like the ics design..
I had darkyrom 10.2 with sempore kernel....
but had a lot of Fc... is there a better rom out there? or should I stay with stock rom 2.3.6?
Thanks.
Try cyanogenmod 7.2 it's Gingerbread 2.3.7 if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise a stock rom.

JW5 or JW6 are praised among some.
JVZ, JVW, JW1,-4,-5,-6 have all crippled MediaProvider.apk (because of Apple policy).
None of these ROMS will index m4a audio files correctly and skip Album artwork.
Won't hurt to click thanks... (promise)
you have to try Gamerz rom by burakgon
when you try it you won't try another one, that what i did

I used Gamerzrom v11. Very good indeed. Now using DMORE3.3 - definately the best GB rom out now. 100% stable and great features.

Which Rom you used most ?

So the question is : Which rom you used most in your phone ?
For me the top 3 are :
1.MiniCM7
2.GingerDX
3.MiniCM9
Stayed with gdx from v18 up until v28 (a couple of other cm7 roms here and there). Now i'm using minicm10 for close to a month.

I'm looking for the fastest kernel + ROM combination

Hello guys, I'm looking for the fastest kernel+ROM combination for this phone (i9000). Would be awesome if it was with android 4.1.2 (at least)

There is no fastest Rom and kernel. You have to find what suits for you.

Depends on you really what apps are you running.

i do not like cm's overcharging that made my battery swell
also i find it not reliable as often i had missed calls (phone restarted or lost signal) while it waas untoched on the desk
Best rom+kernel is GamerzROM Legend Edition v3.0 (Android 4.2.2) with Semaphore Kernel 2.9.25s . PM me if you need a download link for the ROM.

AOSP Super Nexus ROM 2.0 BIULD 4 + Mackay Kernel 0.318 is the best and fastest combination for your I9000...I am using it right now and no problems so far with this kernel you get 396MB of RAM and purest and closest to stock Android ROM...That's all from me the choice is yours now...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219235 - for the BEST ROM Super Nexus 2.0 BUILD 4
go to http://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd and pick RC4 build or later. It'll probably not dissapoint. There's helly bean which I've been using before, but it hasn't been updated since 130426 I think, and it's really disappointing compared to cm 10.1 RC4.
Other than that, I guess the last cm9 is pretty good and cm7 but it's old now. If you decide to go with some kind of stock rom, particularily value pack. Try hardcore's last speedmod kernel for sgs. It's THE best kernel I've used with the phone regarding speed/stability.
It's a pity hardcore doesn't make cm kernels.
Personally
My selection: Fastest, stable, .... ¿but? battery eater: GamerzROM Legend Edition v3.0 (semaphore Updated). Promising one, with good battery live SuperNexus 2.0 - I9000 - Milestone 1. Battery live and goof performance: SAURON (GB). C-RoM Mix good other to try. And maybe you like Slim Bean. Test and decide..
For me Infamous AOKP with semaphore has been good
Thanks bro atm i'm trying the gamerzROM. Its quite good but as u said battery eater.. Ill try the rest later( there are still some game to test)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
are you aware that gamerzROM / SuperNexus / AOKP are all the same with few diff PNG's in few system apk's and all are still based on CYANOGEN ?
so best you can do is use CM latest nightlies (from it comes your beta rom versions) in combination with some kernel that You like
so none of those got better battery life or better perrformance - the only diff betwen them is the kernel.
remember CM is the base and then comes someone calling himelf a dev like faryab and copy pastes cm and aokp features,
depending on complication of that he might screw it or leave it ok as it was in CM or AOKP
then adds some kernel stolen from another devs and there you go a ROM
more features it incorporates (kernel) the worse - belive me ...
and stock 2.3.6 is still more stable lacks only jb look but thats i9000 for **** sake ...
i really like semaphore with slimbean
good for you, semaphore is good kernel maker and as for themes i like stock look
What's the difference between nightlies and simple cyanogen? Do you know? And u say then that i should simply take back my cm10.1 with semaphore?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
nightlies introduce new functions, bugfixes first but also might be unstable or even introduce faulty update packages leading to a softbrick (had such situations once)
normal are tested and marked as stable, daily use (bs)
And u sure that cm is compatible with semaphore? Or do u know any faster kernel for i9000?
