Launcher malfunction.
Common symptom is that can't open folders.
Solution:you must change permission manager and recreate permission for MiuiHome.apk
Steps:
-replace permission manager with a correct one(see next)
- reboot
-download launcher https://hotfile.com/dl/177431425/89ffe52/MiuiHome.apk.html
- copy MiuiHome.apk from/sdcard to /system/
- give correct file permissions rw-r-r
-move and replace the old one on /system/app/
Reboot
Permission manager will ask MiuiHome.apk permissions.Give full access...

ATTENTION FOR U8800-U8800pro:
SWAPPER 2 or SWAPPER FOR ROOT it is a good alternative for enable swap but be Careful:
Have as default automatic mounting partition mmcblk0p3.IF SOMEONE'S ENABLE IT THE PHONE COULD BE BRICKED PERMANENTLY.
they correct partition is mmcblk1p3.

For those who don't want ads download that file and copy/ paste to /system/etc/ .
Then give correct permissions rw-r-r
Reboot
(Root explorer is a good apk to do that but there is many who can do that)

Question. Deleting system files

I can't delete my gmail.API out of the system files it just respawns. And ideas?
apk?
Make sure the system is rw. Otherwise it just "pretends" to delete.
Yeah apk sorry. Switched keyboarding. root explorer says r/w at the top

Don't trust root explorer. It doesnt always correctly mount as rw.
How do I fix that sir?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
You can use terminal commands, but for a fairly simple way to do it, I use "Remount /system (ro/rw)". It's a free app on the market, easily remounts system as rw at the touch of a button.
Well my idea didn't work but thanks guys

How to push an app to system?

I've seen apps that you have to "push" them to install them. What exactly does that mean and how do I do it?

You need to use adb on a computer the command would be
adb push nameofapp.apk /system/app/
Or
You can use a file manager with root access and copy the app to /system/app and fix permission to rw-r--r-- and reboot
Sent from my Nexus 4
Or, alternatively you can use Titanium Backup to do the job.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Open TB
go to the backup/restore tab
find the app you want
Long press the app till a menu pops up
Find option to convert the app in the menu and follow directions
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Well, I meant exactly like bobdarkside has just described. I think we might misunderstood you, because with TB you can only convert previously installed apks into system ones. So if you need to do it without installation go for adb or file manager method.

[Q] /system/media default permissions

Hey guys,
Can some very nice person open a root browser and tell me what the default permissions are for /system/media/audio/ringtones, etc? The directories themselves. Then, what permissions the audio files are supposed to have?
On LS980 ota without a custom recovery so I can't reflash system, and the fix permissions shell script doesn't do the job.
Basically, I messed up the file perms for my audio so now I can't set any ringtones or notifications tones until I fix it. I thought I had backed them up to my USB stick over OTG but they aren't there.

Error during cwm backup

I keep getting this error when I try to do a backup from the ROM manager app.
E:unknown volume for path [/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/1.2014-06-15-22.24.53]
Using the app to make a backup used to work. Trying to save to external.
How do I specify the destination?
I can the backup manually, which I've done via rebooting into recovery and choosing the option to install to sdcard1.
Idk what to do to have the app select the correct path.
Any help appreciated.

You don't say what operating system you are using and what version of CWM.
Edit: Your other post says you are now running CM11 and CWM v6048. That is why it is different, you just installed a new CWM. v6048 uses a different path for backup. I don't know how to fix it for you with ROM Manager.
