i was bone stock with root, i flashed the latest cm10 nightly, i went to try and restore my data and sd ext and it says md5 mismatch, the i tried restoring the whole backup with the same result.
how can i flash my backup and get back to stock plus root? or restore my data?
edit, i dont have the play store app so i cant even get titanium backup to get my data
You should have made a nandroid backup before flashing CM10.
With regards to play store, just flash the G-apps from goo.im site.

i did, thats what im trying to flash
bump. anyway to fix this? i have alot of important things on that backup.
is there a way to salvage files manually from a CWM backup?
You could try disabling the md5 check in CWM and see if you can boot after restoring the backup.
By the way, for next time, did you know the TB let's you create a flashable zip file so that you can install it through recovery? It's under menu/create update.zip

So I am currently on Paranoid Android and wish to switch to another ROM (most likely AOKP or PACman just to try). In TWRP recovery, what would I select to just back up my app data and NOT my ROM, and after that is possible, what must I restore to get it back and in what order of flashing alon with my new ROM and GAPPS???:silly:
You can go into TWRP and backup and choose what partitions you want to backup. However, I'd suggest you backup everything and don't try to restore the data to another ROM.
I use Titanium to backup all app data as well as MMS history, WiFi networks etc then do a full backup in TWRP. Then wipe everything and flash the new ROM. Then boot up and reconfigure accounts and restore apps + data with titanium.
It may be a little more effort but this way you can always roll back to the previous setup if anything goes wrong and you're less likely to run into any weird issues from moving data around between ROMs.
Or you could try something like app2zip off the play store to make a flashable zip of only selected apps and data which is probably safer than the whole partition. If you do a full backup first you can always rollback if something goes wrong.
When using Titanium Backup, when I hit run backup, where does it go and how do I restore it after I flash my new ROM. Or do I do the update.zip option and flash that when I'm doing my new ROM?

It goes into a folder on /sdcard called TitaniumBackup. When you flash a new rom, you will need to redownload titanium backup. When you redownload it, it will find the backups and you can click on the app to restore it.
Theres no need to use the update.zip method. Do it like this ^
Hey guys!
So yesterday, I installed the app 'Android Control Center'. I messed around with a few settings and ended up in a bootloop. I do not have anything backed up in Titanium backup. So I made a nandroid backup in the hope that id be able to restore my apps out of that by using nandroid manager, but all of my app data were not extracted from the nandroid. So now im planning to restore the nandroid backup and use TWRPs file manager to remove that apk and its data. Are there any other things I should do to fix this problem? Will this work??
Guys, any help is appreciated!!!
Hardly believe that app can cause your system into bootloop... anyway, if you want to try.
Titanium Backup can restore apps from Nandroid backup, preferably CWM tar backup. However, this function is currently having issues with Android 4.3, so if you want to reflash the ROM, pick ROM with 4.2.2.
I believe TWRP backup should also works, but I haven't try it before. If you need to use TWRP, do it without compression & encryption.
IMO your problem can be a simple fix by remove the faulty app and reflash the ROM.
just reflash your rom via recovery, dont wipe, you wont lose any data
Alright thanks for the response. I copied my TWRP backup to my PC, extracted it and now I'm trying to copy the data folder from my TWRP backup to my ROM's data folder. Hopefully, this will work.
PS - I removed the app and i reflashed the rom but that didn't seem to fix the problem.

Then while still rooted i upgraded to 4.3 from the device... then i rerooted. When i rerooted i flashed the newest version of twrp recovery 2.6. and i cant restore from my backup for some reason.... I tried to flash old versions of twrp and restore with no luck ... please help because i need the files for titanium backup to work. How do i get the data from that backup?

1)TWRP Backup includes EVERYTHING. It creates an exact image of your phone. All apps, their data, sms, call logs, just everything, lol.
2)only Zip

Nope the TWRP backup the system and rom also almost everything if you installed another rom and used the backup it will go back to the rom you had I think but if you can check backup data and apps only that will backup your apps and data only

Hey guys, I hope you could answer some questions about nandroid backup and custom/stock ROMS.
Currently I have installed on my Note 3 SM N900 Android Lollipop 5.0, it is a stock samsung ROM. I've never flashed a custom ROM before. Recently I flashed a Custom Recovery and Rooted my phone. I would like to install a CM 12.1 ROM, I really hate all the bloatware on samsung stock ROM (Although I used Root Uninstaller, I'd like a clean android OS).
Searching on Google I found that doing a Nandroid Backup is as easy as going into recovery mode (Custom Recovery) and make a Back Up of everything, I mean "boot, System, Data, Cache, EFS, Radios", that is how is showed on TWRP v2.8.7.0. But there are other things showing up below this options, like "enable compression, skip MD5 generation during back up, disable free space check"
which options do I need to select if a want to make a full nandroid backup?
what does "skip MD5 generation during back up, disable free space check" options mean?
let's say I do a full nandroid backup, and a EFS folder (which I did the second I rooted my phone), and then I flash a Custom ROM, but there are too many bugs, or I just miss samsung stock ROM and I wanna go back to my previous ROM.
I'd just need to enter in recovery mode and do a restore of my previous nandroid backup (a stock ROM backup) and that's it? It'd be that simple? I'm thinking I'm missing something here.
Hope you can answer these doubts of mine. Thanks in advanced! :good:
YES Its that simple backup to ext sd card restore that backup .
.
"skip MD5 generation exactly what it says it generated no MD5 signature ( see Google md5)
Skipping MD5 generation means that you won't be able to check file integrity when restoring it. Not advised.
Disable free space check means that recovery won't check if it can store the backup files in the available space. Again, not advised.
