More info would help, like are you rooted? If so what Rom are you on etc... That way we can help you faster and easier.

I'm guessing he is on his myginger my way rom, which is a stock variant. If USB tethering works on anything it'd be that.

That's what I was thinking too! But, it says unable to turn on.. I just flashed a new ROM, but if any help is added, I will surely go back.

My market has been unable to download any apps today. I've tried everything from wiping and flashing gapps (in on cm 7) to restoring from a nandroid I made a couple of days ago. Any ideas?

You're absolutely right, my bad. I've heard of some people bricking their phones to where it doesn't turn on and they manage to get it replaced. I really don't know what else to think of. Have done a factory reset?

What ROM are you running? Have you tried backing up and flashing another ROM? I really think you should do the full wipe to see if it helps. I know it sucks having to setup the phone but there's not much else to do. Maybe someone else can help.

Yes, I'm wiping, before each try. What's weird, though, is it's only happening on the ics roms. I can run gb roms, with no problem.

Ok. NP.
Assuming you're rooted....you might try switching ROMs, maybe CM 10 or AOKP. Then try Wi-Fi tether in the play store or Fox-fi if you're not rooted.
You might try installing FireFox on your PC (I don't know about Macs, don't like them, don't ask) and then a user agent switcher. Chrome has been reported has having problems (sometimes).
How secure all of this is....I'm not entirely sure. Although I do have the "UNLIMITED 4G" plan on my SGSIII, I still have the 5GB + SMH (Smartphone Mobile Hotspot) on my Amaze....
I think the VPN option is the best way to be sure they can't see what you're doing.
