[Q] Google Nexus screen problem. - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I've just bought a N7 from Tesco's and it was on 4.1.1 when i first turned it on. I did not notice anything wrong with the screen i got prompted with an update for 4.1.2 (i think) so i updated and after a while i was browsing around and notice a little mark in the in the middle of the screen just above half way. I don't know how to describe it. But if i press near it the dot it acts like a pressure point sort of thing if you know what i mean.
If anyone can give me any advice it would be great. If not looks like ill be taking it back for an exchange.
Cheers
Chris

Look at your developer options and post what is there, from the sounds of it, you are describing one or two of the developer options that tells you touch input.

On the developer options the only one that is ticked is USB Debugging all others are unticked
thanks for your help...

Sounds like screen ripple.. You talking about the same kind of effect that you would get if you pressed your finger against a LCD computer monitor? If it's that.. Return it..

Screen No Response but Occasional Response HELP

Hey I have an elf the T mobile version 64/128mb , phone has been working for 8 months now all of a sudden it wont respond but the call and end call buttons work fine the 4 way navigation key only work when lets say you go into the call records by pressing the green call button. You cannot do anything besides change time, answer calls and hang up. Please Help Tried hard reset soft reset, and the phone is unlocked to all networks using the network key method.
this looks a hardware problem may be the LCD or the digitizer
Is it fixable by software or maybe opening it up to fiddle ?
It is not the LCD, it is only the digitizer (the thing that is responsible for the 'touch') I recently had the same problem, until 1 week ago I purchased a new digitizer off eBay for $15.
Do not get LCD and Digitizer, just the digitizer to save money.
If there is no cracks or damage to the screen (bad cracks, pixel damage etc) you only need a digitizer.
I have a video I made of me changing mine which I'm editing atm. I do have photos.
This is the correct response. It is not software if it started to work occassionally and then stop, this is what happened to mine. 99% it is digitizer!
Thats cool please email me link [email protected] for your video I will order one now.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...nge+digitizer+htc+touch+youtube&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
See the 3rd result.
Hey I read its going to ttake 14 days for my digitizer to come , in the mean time is there a way I can bypass the touch the screen alignment page when you first boot up?
you can get www.mymobiler.com
Cheers.
Tried it but requires you to accept the installation on the phone any other ideas?
Thats weird, mine doesnt.
it will auto install.
It says on the little status box installing mymobile to the phone then it dissappears saying not connect. this message comes up everytime you try and run it.
Sorry, I ran out of brain juice.
You have to stick with this for a while than, and bear the bitter pill.
MyMobiler should be able to install onto the phone itself.
But I really wonder why this doesnt work.
Hey thanks anyway found this whiel browsing aroudn on the internet fixed the problem it aligns the screen for you http://216.139.221.18/downloads/mobile_speak_pocket/release/MSP_RemoteAlignment.zip

and it does auto install its the part where it asks you to accept remote.exe and you have to tap yes or no for it to run on your device, havent bypassed that yet but atleast I can just accept calls and check texts but let me know if you have a solution for the whole remote.exe thing

Did that, sorry should have said in the OP. I even tried installing different ROMs.
Do you have BsB tweaks installed? If so, go in that app and turn off the "tap time" setting...that's been known to cause this type of symptom.

Nope, and I wouldn't be able to anyways, unless I can finally get application that allows me to control the phone from my computer (shoot, I can't remember the name of it) to work. The touch is completely dead.
EDIT: Shoot, never mind I think I do have that installed. I'll try that.
MyMobiler! That's it.
Nevermind, I installed a different ROM so any settings were deleted, right? That can't be it. Gah it's happened every two months.
wont respond like... the screen is just black? or it comes on but you cant do anything with it?

The latter.
I have what sounds the same problem
the other day I noticed that it was starting to play up, and then the touch screen just would not work. It shows the screen but there is no response on touch HELP anyone
Press the end or back button fairly hard. Sometimes that seems to make it work again for a while, then call HTC and see if they will warranty it, they did mine.

Weird red frame along the screen border!

Hey guys I'm having this weird issue where i get this red square frame for a second - along the screen border when i do certain things like going through the settings menu. It always appears when when i shift from picture to picture in the gallery. Think it might be some setting or software issue ?? Anyone else get this? Help its annoying! I have a gt-i9500
the same happens with my friend's Galaxy s3 so its not related to software did u enable anything from developer options ?? or maybe connect it to a TV ??
Mine did that for a while, too. Seems like a it was the Strict mode was turned on in the Developer Options that caused it.

Phantasm Touch and finger slider

Hi all,
I'm new here, a friend refered me this page to ask for some troubles I'm having with my Nexus 4.
I bought it from ebay about 4 months ago. For all this time, it worked perfectly, no problems at all, running fine.
The thing is that this last week the telephone is doing strange things. While using it, at a few minutes of use, "phantasmal touches" occurs, getting hit the buttons from back, back to desktop and last applications.
Also, after some minutes, or just touching the screen for scroll, the slide malfunction, getting harder to slide, even sometimes this doesn't works, but touching stills operative (sometimes not).
The only way that temporarily works, is locking and unlocking the screen, but problem still appear again and again.
Tried also to restore it (like as it was new). But nothing.
Hope you can help me with this. Thanks.

Have you noticed if it stops or starts doing it if you plug it into a charger (preferably the stock or a decent quality one)

The problem stills, for example, im in facebook or whatsapp, i slide up and down for reading, and from the nothing it's harder to slide/scroll... it's not that sensitive as before. I mean, with just a slide of the finger at early is scrolls fast, as it must be, but for some reason, after a few slides, with the same finger slide, it just scrolls a bit.

Have you tried cleaning the screen with (alcohol free) screen wash? Otherwise it sounds like a hardware issue or something wrong with the touch drivers.

Even with the screen protector? Can try it. If it's the touch drivers, how can they be "reparired"?

It's probably the screen protector causing the problem, take it off and then try using the phone again and see what happens.

Well, for the moment I've done a wipe from all data, the other option from the "recovery menu", and it's been a while using it, and the problem doesn't shows, non of both i mention.
Let's see if this continue like this. Tomorrow I'll let you know.

Nothing, the problem still persist.
I'll see if I must clean the screen (it has a screen-protector althought). If not, I don't know what to do, unless I send it to someone if can repair it or something... :crying:

Back and Recent Capacitive buttons Not working, Home button is working fine!

Hi ,
I recently had a bad time getting our of the DFU mode, had to open the hand set, move things around and hoping to get through this all, now that the handset is alive again, the Back and Recent Capacitive buttons are not working, however the Home button is working fine.... I then proceeded to unlock the boot loader and loaded the Vortex rom but it still has not fixed my phone, so is this something which i screwed up during my dissembling of the phone or can this still be salvaged??

I would try and open it again to look and see if anything is loose with the connectors for the capacitive buttons.

I think maybe on the side where the battery is resting. I'll have to go take a look again to confirm but I'm in a lecture at college right now so when I have time I'll come back and confirm it.

I think it hasn't got a dedicated connector, it might be the same connector as the screen. Maybe seeing JerryRigEverything's video would be better though

I'm not sure if Vortex ROM has this setup, however did you try the button swap in settings? I have seen this happen before with a teardown but haven't seen a solid solution.
