Can anyone provide me with a working N7105 modem? I flashed custom rom for N7100 and my modem got screwed (which was something I anticipated). Therefore can anyone provide me with a modem file for N7105? Much appreciated!!!

sadly a full N7105 rom is not available yet, only all the OTA patches can be found, and no full modem is located in those.

I did every XDA-worthy member would do. I nandroid backed the hell out of my rom. But after flashing back nandroid rom, signal is still elusive.
I have downloaded the stock rom and flashed it. Modem came back.
I figured out a way to extract the modem.bin from the stock rom. Therefore if I flash the custom rom for N7100 which bust my modem, I can flash the modem.bin from my N7105 stock rom to regain modem in my custom rom right? Wrong. something more than modem.bin is messing with the signals if one flashes an N7100 custom rom unto an N7105 rom.

i wanted to look at contents compared to the US/Asian LTE devices, and so far those firmwares look the same, so the freq change is in the chipset. but i checked the leak US firmware and that one also had cdma features so although similar it was featuring cdma instead of gsm.
like n7100 for different reqions got pretty much the same firmware with changes to brand and whatever smaller software change they make for that country.
point was if the frequency issue was software or hardware, and so far the n7105 europe firmware looks similar besides the fact a US firmware got cdma, and confirmed is that it is very different from n7100 radio firmware and should not be installed.
On sammobile tgey have it too ... just take a look ...

So what must be done to gain phone signals back if one installs a N7100 custom rom into a N7105? If the problem is with the chipset there is nothing much we can do about it right?

well, i assume all libril and libsec and those related to controlling LTE as well.
but since 7100 and 7105 are so different radio wise, there might be something else used to controll radio than what 7100 uses, which could be required in the roms for 7100, but maybe soon we will see roms for both devices at the same time.

I did the same mistake as you did.
Don't panic though.
I downloaded a stock N7105XXALIJ rom and flash it using PC odin.
Everything is back to normal.
Then I rooted it using this guide:

Everything is perfect so far.

Basically said it in the title. I have an Orange branded SIII (Orange splash screens) and would like to know if I can install a stock SIII ROM on it. I ask because:
A) The idea of having an Orange branded one irritates me (got it cheap on ebay)
B) Carrier-branded handsets get Android updates later (would this even help with that?)
If it is possible, could somebody provide me with a guide to finding the correct ROM and installing it? My phone is rooted with CWM.

There are no hardware differences, only customizations in the ROM.
So yes, it will work just fine.
Sorry I meant firmware. Or, are roms and firmware the same thing?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Thats a tricky one to answer.
Firmware is a little more all encompassing than rom normally, usually not just including operating system but also baseband/modem software.
Generally speaking they are the same thing though.

For starters, CWM isn't capable of flashing stock ODIN images and MobileODIN is. I wanted to make sure the flash introduced as few changes as possible, so I decided against a custom ROM or stock, prerooted CWM zip. I just used the latest LH2 from Germany, opted for everroot, and flashed it.

The advantage isn't because the ROM is German; it's becsuse it's a GT-N8010 ROM and international devices always get updates before U.S. devices. This means that when the 8010 gets JB, I can flash it to my 8013.

It bypasses U.S. patent avoiding changes like the elimination of global search. I don't know if there are any others. The downside is most of the EU ROM's have features (bloatware) that don't function from the U.S. so they eat up memory. That is unless you root and debloat but if that's the case you're better off running one of the custom ROMs in the dev section. Also, you'll never receive updates from Kies or OTA again because your CSC won't match the PDA s/w on your device.

If you like. I only did it as an experiment so I could see if it worked. As for Kies and OTA issues, I only ever update with MobileODIN. So if you're okay with that, go for it. Also, use Titanium Backup to backup Media Hub before you flash. It isn't in int'l ROMs. They come with Video Hub, which doesn't work here. You want to uninstall Video Hub and replace it with Media Hub. After that though, everything's the same. However, I should mention that my only reason for doing this was to see if I could use the N8010 JB release when it comes out because it'll come before the N8013 release.

custom ROM should also works. No one really ever found out what's the real difference between 8010 and 8013 yet, as far as I know. ROMS and ODIN files should be exchangeable between 8010 and 8013. Hardware wise I really don't think there is any difference at all.

But he's talking about the 8010 which is just the international wifi version. Aside from the software configuration there is probably zero difference in the 8010 and 8013.
And since 8000 custom roms work (with a reboot quirk) on the 8013 its safe to assume custom 8010 roms would be fine on the 8013 with no problems.
And yes, I know what assuming gets me!

XDA Members & Note 10.1 Owners:
To help clear up any confusion, I'll tell you what I know about the GT-N8013 and the GT-N8010. As some have speculated, they are physically identical. However, THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT EACH AND EVERY ROM BUILT/RELEASED FOR ONE DEVICE IS GUARANTEED TO WORK ON THE OTHER. For example, they may very well have different partition layouts. Honestly, I don't know if they do or don't. Perhaps this is something that Entropy512 could look into.
Anyway, I've seen a lot of curiosity and speculation about cross-compatibility with custom ROMs. As I stated in an earlier post, custom ROMs vary too much, and I have not personally tried any. That being said, I HAVE flashed the GT-N8013 with GT-N8010 ROMs in MobileOdin, and that's about as extreme as you can get. Considering that stock ROMs can be MobileOdin-flashed from one device to the other, I see no reason why CWM-flashable custom ROMs wouldn't be the same. However, until someone bites the proverbial bullet and flashes a custom GT-N8010 ROM on a GT-N8013, we can't be 100% sure. I know it's a lot to take in, and difficult to decide on whether to try and flash a ROM for another device or not; but if it's of any use to you, I, personally, would go ahead and try it if the custom ROM in question was the one I really wanted and there was no build available for my device. That is not a guarantee, and I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEVICES DAMAGED, BRICKED, ETC. AS A RESULT OF TRYING ANYTHING IN THIS THREAD! I only maintain that this is something I would personally attempt; as evidenced by the fact that I already attempted it once before when I flashed my GT-N8013 to a GT-N8010!
Given the success of that attempt, I feel reasonably certain that "most" ROMs should work across both devices. I also feel like this topic warrants some professional scrutiny. I don't think it would hurt to have a developer or two look into this. If the Note 10.1's developer and advanced user community is to grow and evolve, stuff like this could be a defining advantage over other similar platforms. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Aside from the fact that the GT-N8013 and GT-N8010 are physically identical, I can't tell you anything else with 100% certainty.
I hope this went some way towards clearing things up. I know I was pleasantly surprised when I flashed my GT-N8013 with a GT-N8010 ROM and it turned my GT-N8013 into a GT-N8010 instead of bricking it. I hope this flexibilty turns out to be universal with ROMs for these two devices. I wish you all the best. Take care and have a good one!
Thank you,
Ed [Mister_Mxyzptlk]

The modem is part of any full firmware and is usually different for each provider, region etc.
I believe the US lte frequencies are different to most of the other countries so if you don't have the correct modem your phone may be looking for the wrong frequency.
Try this link: http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Devices/Samsung Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720)/Modems
Flash the .tar file in odin in the phone section.
Edit: just remembered when the first ipad to have lte was released in Australia, Apple and resellers got into big trouble for marketing it as lte/4g. This was because although it was lte it didn't actually work with Australian lte frequencies. So as I mentioned above you will need a US modem. That's my best bet to get it going again.

You can use any s4 rom I believe, but you will lose the Spark function of the T model if the rom doesn't support it.
Main thing, have a good Nandroid of your working touchwiz system, flash new rom, if you boot loop, nandroid back to your working system.
Before you install a ROM and after making a nandroid. Restore it to make sure it backed up correctly.

Make a note of your firmware and baseband as you may need to reflash to the correct firmware in order to have the best experience. I'm still on MK5. I have decided to be patient and wait. The spark is very noticeable compared to my s3 (i had).
