Was fiddling around in the settings, hit check for system update, installed a >20mb update, and now my tab is stuck on the Acer boot screen with the text "booting recovery kernel image" in the upper left corner.
Anyone else had this problem?
Should I leave my tab for a few hours and hope it boots, or force a restart?
update:
held down the power button for about 5 seconds and reset with no problem.
"Update failed" window on reboot.
System update 4.010.13 (14.49) update still available when I go to system update->check now.
Currently running build 4.010.10
Does anyone have info on update 4.010.13? Hesitant to try and install it again.
You have to unroot it then install the update then root again.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
how do you want to unroot if you can't restart?
i hope you have an external sd-card
dl one of the stock 3.1 roms and extract the update.zip (eventually you have to use the un encryption tool available in dev).
put the update.zip on your external sd-card
hit volume- and power simultaneously.
if cwm is installed you will see the cwm menu. if it is not installed it will start with the update.zip and reinstall you system, without root and cwm.
My tab is stock and unrooted but ill try the update again.
Tried to install the update a second time.
Tab restarted then displayed the same "booting recovery kernel image" screen again, but this time only for three or four seconds.
Then went to a screen with the green android guy, a bunch of turning gears, and a progress meter for a little while.
Rebooted and displayed a window "apk process installer" and some text. Looks like it worked this time.
Good to hear it worked out. Not many people have had issues with installing these OTA's while rooted and on stock. I'm sure it was just a fluke. Nevertheless...
I have an Acer Iconia Tab A500 which is on stock 4.0.3 OTA rom. It is rooted with blackthund3r's ICS root 7.1.1. After installing a font from "Custom Android Font Switcher" by Bentotbox, the tablet rebooted and got stuck with a blinking android loading screen after the Acer screen.
**** I need a way to reset the font back to default or to get this font to work. ****
I have tried to use the reset button, the power + volume up + toggle lockscreen switch, the power + volume down, connecting to the computer via mini usb and rerooting, and am now trying to download "Flashtool v0.9.0.0". I have no SD card, though I could buy one if absolutely necessary (trying to use the update.zip way) (I also have scoured google looking for update.zip, still no luck; link would be appreciated). I have no nandroid backup (it crashed every single time), however all apps, music, etc have been backed up to computer. As long as it works again, I'll be thankful.
I have Windows 7 without a command line, but administrator permissions.

yup ive had that app cause boot loops for me too i warned everyone in a commment? you have to flash a new rom the only way i got it to workwas doing all the wipes and flashing the sme rom although if its the same rom i dont think you would have to do all the wipes? im not sure
i hope, i can find a solution for my problem because technically my "nook simple touch" is turn to brick.
my button work but screen don't answer to touch. (from only screensaver screen, it works)
i write: what i do by order.
1- i install "root" by nookmanager without 1.2.1 update: everything was good but i saw "touchnooter"
2- system upgrate yourself to 1.2.1
3- i unregister inside of nook. so "root" deleted
4- i install "TouchNooter" but i can't pass "nook starting up" screen.
5- i recover fabric.zip by nookmanager, system return 1.1.2
6- this time i download "nook_1_2_update.zip" and upgrade system 1.2.1 manually.
7- i "root" by nookmanager again.
8- this time i install market by "NTGAppsAttack package"
9- pass the "searching" and i close market (not work yet)
10- install "1MobileMarket_h.apk" for mobile market. (it was work last root)
11- i left nook in charge 1mobilemarket screen.
two hour later screen did not worked so i reset nook. now screen dont answer touching. as connect usb cable to computer. but when i touch in lookscreen, it is open with touch. so hardware work.
Now "slidelock" screen don't come. when i connect computer "usb connected" screen don't come.
i try
1- fabric.zip with nookmanger
2- n2T-Recovery_0.2, it F..k the screen (flashes)
3- fabric.zip again. nothing change
4- n2T-Recovery_0.1 nothing change
5- with "128mb_clockwork-rc2" delete, recover fix boot try everything nothing change
6- i install touchnooter again. this time it succes but only first screen and "back" button worked. and flashes problem solved
7- after recovery i install nookmanager. both root work together. but still touching don't work.
8- by "128mb_clockwork-rc2" delete everything
9- update 1.2.1. still don't work.
What can i do more, fix this problem?
I captured the lollipop update that came out today. I have a nandroid backup and I'm going for the update. We will see if the new tethered CWM works to get root back... Stay tuned.
Turns out rooted users will need to return the tablet to KitKat stock. I found this info in 2-3 places in various languages. Here is hopefully a clear step-by-step to get back to KK stock and then take the OTA.
This can BRICK your device, so use at your own risk. Files are supplied as a courtesy and not mine
1) Download - This - AFH - kitkat-YT2-1050F_S0198_150422_ROW.7z (This updated readme file here)
2) Extract the zipfile to a directory on PC somewhere
3) Goto "tools" folder and install the exe's in this order
a) PhoneFlashTool_4.4.4.1_external_win32.exeb) iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.2.0.exec) IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0.exe4) Start PhoneFlashTool and select settings (Upper left corner)
5) Tick "force sparcing" and change size to 500mb
6) Power off tablet and connect with usb
7) From off, hold volume up and power until tablet vibrates and release power (still holding volume up)
8) Tablet should now be in "Droidboot" and PhoneFlashTool should list it on the top
9) In PhoneFlashTool click browse and select flash.xml from the "target_bin" folder
10) WAIT!!! until you see "Result okay" on tablet AND "Flash Sucess" in PhoneFlashTool
11) Reboot
12) When Android starts skip all dialogs (tablet is going to factory reset anyway)
13) Select Contacts from desktop and make 1 dummy contact
14) In the search bar type "####6020#" and then select your country
15) Tablet reboots and you are on stock KitKat again and should receive an update notice for Lollipop

Are you rooted? If so you need to "unroot". That can be done as simply as going into the settings of SuperSU and selecting - full upnroot. Or you may need to flash back to original stock...
Have you done the Update without problems?
Can i flash back original 4.4.2 without brick my YT2?
Edit: i have no ROOT

It keeps failing. I'm going to try flashing the original firmware, but probably not until the weekend. I have too much on my plate to deal....
SUCCESS, LOLLIPOP IS WORKING!!!
I Have restored original KitKat ROM via "PhoneFlashTool" with this ROMs / Tutorial:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/tu...ianten.697884/
This time i´ve made the "Country Setting" via ContactApp ####6020# to "DE" befor download and upgrade!
And i have aborted the automatic PlayStore updates for Chrome etc...
Lollipop upgrade reboots into recovery and stays 5min. at 100%.
Then reboots into some intel-flash mode and stays for 4min.
After it reboots into Lollipop OS...
I have the same problem, only that I had the first Lollipop version for 1050F with root and then got the new Lollipop update. The Kitkat version fails to flash. But here is what helped:
Go to this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/thi...-8-10-13-3-t2930428/post60490907#post60490907
and download the LtoKKxml.7z and copy the files into the kitkat firmware folder and then flash using flash-LtoKK-PVT-810.xml
I had to remove the parts of the XML that erase and format data. Then it worked
After that I could flash KitKat!!
@ matshias
thx, good to know...

Well, I got as far as extracting the original kk firmware, installing Intel phone tool and drivers with no problems. My issue is the tablet is recognized by the Intel phone tool while the tablet is in Android but when I reboot to fastboot it isn't.
This is in a virtual machine because I don't do Windows on hardware, only VirtualBox.
I may have to take an old rig and install Windows temporarily...
From my LG-G3 running Jasmine8.0/Skydragon Kernel 4.2
VitualBox maybe a problem, but why it works when in Lollipop OS and not in droidboot?
Firewall? ADB in developer-options enabled?
Try check your device manager in fastboot-mode if there is some "Unknown device" and install ADB driver...

Yea, I got it to work through VB. I went to upgrade and the upgrade failed and now it won't boot.
I'm going to try flashing the KK firmware again.
Edit: Flashing again now...

Lollipop won't update for me. I had a TWRP backup so I am right back where I was. Could it be the "country code" I saw in the instructions? If so what is the dial code for US? us?Duh, it brings up a selection box... Chinese but readable.

Root - no problem - Trigger 4
Update successful to YOGATablet2-1050F_S100067
Mine was a pleasant suprise.
LenovoPad YOGA Tablet 2-1050F
I already had installed Lollipop YOGATablet2-1050F_S100031 and rooted.
When advised there was a new OTA update, I did the following:
1. From within SuperSU Pro settings "Full unroot"
2. Reboot
3. Connect to PC
4. Run Lenovo Smart Assistant
5. Update was available, which downloaded to my PC
6. Lenovo Assistant began to transfer the update to the tablet, but ultimately (2 mins?) reported "Update failed"
7. Disconnected tablet from PC and turned it off
8. Simultaneously pressed volume down and power button, released volume key on vibration
9. Black screen quickly followed by the Android icon processing the update
10. Update successful to YOGATablet2-1050F_S100067
11. All data intact
12. Re-rooted using T4 (above.)
One happy camper!
Oh, and Xposed-v67-sdk21-x86.zip successfully installed with this version!

Thanks a lot for your description. I've been postponing this for a long time. I finally did the upgrade today. 100% successful.
Hi,
i think i broke my tablet ;_;...
Here is what I did:
- factory-reset
- update by flashing the latest 5.1.1 stock image
- rooted
- installed titaniumbackup pro + unlocker
at this point the tablet would still work fine
- copied my backup back onto the tablet with adb push
- ran a titaniumbackup "restore all missing apps, all app data, all system data" batch from that folder
now my tablet boots fine, but instead of the launcher all i get is a black screen. when I press&hold the powerbutton i get the "switch off" popup, and i can reboot to safe mode, but safemode also only gets me the black screen.
Could that be because _before_ the wipe the storage was encrypted, _after_ the wipe i did not encrypt the tablet?
as in, in the backup there's a setting that basically says 'this tablet is encrypted', but it actually isnt anymore?
Any ideas on how to fix this that still lets me restore that backup and have my apps, settings and files?
Cheers
M
hm... guess noone has any ideas...
are there any logfiles that i could check if i can still get in via adb shell?
