Safe Bloat to Remove? - RAZR HD General

Can anyone tell me some of the Moto apps that I should be sure not to uninstall while removing some of the bloat? All help is appreciated.

This is exactly the thread i came in to open.
It may be a GS3 or OneX in another shell, but its slower and laggier than both on a mostly stock OS. I really want stock JB on this, but until then whatever bloat from Moto and Rogers there is i want gone.

I just went through and removed some and if I wasn't sure I just froze it. So far, so good. I'll be sure to post if any problems come up.

I disabled all of the bloatware. There's no real reason to uninstall them. Disabling works fine as far as I can tell.

Now rooted - What can I remove?

Recently rooted my GN3 on Verizon. Wondering what apps I can remove (That I will never use) to clean up the ROM some and debloat it. It's pretty fast as is, but I don't like how much bloat it has out of the box. Wondering if anyone has removed anything that would be considered bloat?

Switch back to 4.4,2?

Hey guys,
Not sure if this forum is an appropriate place for general discussion/questions.... feel free to tell me to move along if it isn't.
I'm considering switching back to 4.4.2.... this 5.0 update has been less-than-stellar, in my opinion. I've got tons of issues with it, but probably the biggest is a very poor battery life.... the thing uses up all my RAM, and I'm lucky if I get a full day out of it. Also, it's very slow to respond at times, the auto-brightness feature doesn't work properly, as well as the known issues with 5.0 (the "missing" silent feature, for example.)
My question is: is everyone else having this experience, too? Or could I have had a bad install of 5.0? The ROM (I believe that's the right word... I am a n00b here, but I'm a quick study) I used was the G900V_OA8_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM... Have there been any issues with this ROM, not related to 5.0? I'd love some opinions on this.
Thanks!
Tony
Oh, and P.S.-- I'm not sure if 5.0.2 fixes any of these issues... if you guys could comment on that, I'd appreciate it too. Thanks again.

I messed with lollipop some. MOAR is a ROM you should try if you stay with lollipop. I'm sticking with 4.4.4. More theme friendly and stable in my opinion. Lollipop seems too buggy to me and I don't like the colors.

Is there any way to downgrade, and turn off the harassment from Google to upgrade?
Sometimes that will stop when you run a custom ROM. I'm running Ricks ROM. There is also a file you can freeze with titanium backup that will stop it. SDM or something like that. You have to get the paid version in order to freeze apps.
Edit: app is called Samsung software updates. You could also use root explorer and find that same app in your system/priv-app folder and rename it (put .bak on the end of it).

titanium backup pro ( you can find a pirate for free) though i dont condone
freeze: SDM 1.0
no more system updates , if you change your mind unfreeze it and the updates option will reappear in your settings list

I echo his advice. Just buy Tibu Pro Key from the play store and freeze it. It's not like it is expensive or anything, well worth a couple bux to be able to freeze all sorts of bloat ware actually.

[Q]I337, 5.0.1 What AT&T apps/bloat can be TB force removed?

So I just switched from ATT to Tmobile, just now upgraded to 5.0.1 on my I337, as always... filled with bloat.
Anyone know what apps are safe to force remove from the system using titanium backup? (Man I miss the good ol days where we had that auto installer/debloater rom flashes) Just checking since I dont want to mess this up. Mainly I already have "Turned off" these ATT apps.. but still... no point in keeping them really... if anyone has seen a thread or knows. Would be great. Thanks. =)
Anyone? Or does no one really remove all the bloat anymore?

Try searching, I337 bloat removal xda
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Freeze any At&t apps... See how it goes and then uninstall them after some testing.
Same with any Samsung apps
Yea, thats the thing tho, Ive looked at those results. Most of that talks about stuff from 2013. Which of course is a lil different to todays stock bloat.
I also HAVE seen this.
http://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-remove-bloatware-from-your-android-device-xda-tv/
Which does talk about the debloater tool. However as you know the app doesnt support "blocking" for the I337, You can hide stuff, maybe even remove, HOWEVER this app itself doesnt say whats safe to remove like old debloating tools did which were clearly bloat. This one, if you do the wrong thing, you can mess up quite a bit.
Which leaves me to my orig question. =/

What to do with Cricket core prime (G360AZ)?

Picked up a Cricket Core Prime during a sale and was wondering if I could get a Lollipop update. If not, are there any recommended mods/tweaks for this phone to be more usable as a backup phone for my Moto Z? Right now, it has poor battery life and TW is as ugly as always.

Yes, really great modifications you can make. Unfortunately, you probably won't be able to get Lollipop if Cricket hasn't released an update for it, so make sure you've checked your system update in settings to make absolute sure that you can't upgrade.
First of all, root it. You can get rid of the bloat and tweak it. This should be really easy if it hasn't gotten the Lollipop update yet.
Second, install Nova Launcher. It is way better than TouchWiz and makes your phone feel like stock Android.
Third, get some good root apps. Obviously get SuperSU but also try out greenify to improve your battery life. There are all kinds of great root apps out there if you just look them up.
And due to the crappy storage, install some sort of app that can automatically clear your cache, because that cache can suck up a lot of data. If you can get a MicroSD card, I highly recommend it to store photos and apps on.
Other than that, that's about all
Than you very much for your time! I think that I will towelroot it and make the modifications you suggested.

[Open discussion] what to do with root?

So I just rooted my tmobile gs7 running 7.0 and I have no idea what to do. I've been looking and looking. searching and searching and I can't find anything useful as far as apps or mods or even roms. I'm just wondering if rooting was a waste of time or if there is actually stuff out there? What's everyone else woth American models doing with their rooted s7? Should I just unroot and go ahead and upgrade to the s8?
It depends of you, if you root and don't need root, then why root?
I personnaly rooted it to have full control over my phone, install some mods and do some theming over system apps.
Good luck
...it is really simple, one app will make a big difference now that you are root: AdAway (goodby ads)
And if you despice bloatware, go for Titanium Backup and get rid of all those stupid carrier and maker apps.
And if you need a little more performance and keep apps off your RAM, try Greenfy.
?
This is why I root:
1. AdAway
2. Titanium Backup - uninstall and freeze any app, including system apps and bloatware.
3. Greenify - force close apps at any moment, might be useful for battery drainers like the facebook app or any other app that causes battery issues.
Thanks for the responses. I rooted simply for the fun of it. I remember back when I had my gs3 and rooted there was a bunch of roms and cool mods and apps to do pretty much anything u could think of. I thout it would be the same thing this time around but I ended up stumped when I couldn't find anything.
I rooted my phone so I could use an ad blocker, replace Samsung's emoji, and to properly install the Pixel Launcher. I was very disappointed that there's no TWRP or much in the way of custom ROMs.
Just out of curiousness. I am looking into rooting and now with this thread I have an idea of what I want to do. What method was the most efficient to root for you?

I used max lees method on YouTube. He has a site called high on android and another called galaxys7root.com (forgive me devs if him or his methods are banned) just make sure rooting is really what u wanna do. I say that because your phones performance will decrease. Even after tweaking the cpu and all that good stuff my phone still runs inefficiently compared to pre root. Best of luck

In my honest opinion it'd probably be better to wait. So far it's done more damage to my phone than it has helped and to make things worse I have yet to find a solid unroot method so now I'm stuck with a slow phone that force closes and lags all the time

If you'd like to unroot just simply flash a stock odin tar. If you don't want to wipe I'd uninstall any root applications and flash the csc_home.

After rooting my phone for a couple of weeks I came to the conclusion that it's not worth it. Here's why.. the biggest issue I had was my phone was constantly over heating and the battery was draining much faster than when on stock. Yes I tried things like greenify and other apps that are supposed to help battery life and several cooling apps for the over heating issues, but none really fixed the problem completely nor even that much at all. Rooting also made my phone lag and run very glitchy. I was very disappointed because I really like using Xposed to customize my phone, switching emojis to iPhone style, and getting rid of ads but all in all, those things just didn't outweigh the issues that came with rooting. I think the root for snapdragon models is just very sloppy and isn't as good as it can be and until then, I would not recommend.

What carrier do you have for your s7? I've had to unroot several times and have not had any issues what so ever.
How about S-Health
Hi, everyone,
I have a question, I had a SM-G930F, I rooted it and after, I wasn't able to use S-Health anymore. So I sold it and buy a new SM-G930V.
Will I have the same problem if I root it? or there is a trick to make S-Health work with rooted S7(snapdragon of courses)?
Thank's for your reply.
rooting used to be a way to hide tethering from your carrier. i have 14 gigs of hotspot plus unlimited data on tmobile so i dont need to hide it.
my main reason for wanting root is to debloat the phone. i would also love to install vanilla android but i doubt that will happen.
