Is anybody else having problems booting up after the new update to 4.1.2? I am having problem when i push the power button it don't work but after so many times of pushing and holding the power button it will boot up. I am afraid soon ill probably never get it booted up.
All fine here.

No problem here.
Try pressing all three buttons on the side to boot up with another ways.

I'm having issues. Posted in another thread I started but the tablet boots itself when plugged in, freezes/locks if you unplug it when off so you have to push all three buttons, but the battery will be dead if you don't catch it in time, so you will have to plug it in. Craziness. See my post, I made a video too. Google is exchanging it and apparently sending my video to their engineers to look at. youtu.be/MCTogc0YQnw (can't past links yet due to post count)

Id say if your having issues, backup your data to your pc and flash factory image. Start clean and restore your data.

Is anyone else having issues with the new YouTube app that was recently released?
Every time I press "back' during a video playback the phone freezes & crashes on me - is this happening to any of you??
yup. Happens to me each and everytime. I can only remedy it with a damn battery pull
Same happens to me, I had to force a reboot though ADB (It didn't fix anything when I uninstalled Youtube from ADB effectively killing its process).
It crashed once while watching a video and I pressed the back button. However, I've tried to recreate the issue and I can't get it to crash at all now.
Nope, working perfectly fine here.
It locks up on me when pushing the "back" button, too. Battery pull required. Boo.
Looks like I'm not the only one having this issue.... I hope they update it soon, the new apps pretty sick!

The same thing happened to me today. Had to pull out the battery to restart.

Same here on both of our g2's. One rooted and on normal. When hitting back it locked the phone up tights. Have to pull battery to restart.

Yeah push the back button then it gets all messed up... what an update.. I'm sure it'll be fix but not right away.. plus its really just the UI, just uninstall until its fix
Meaning about the UI isn't that the only real update?? Everything else seems the same..EXCEPT for the video playing on the spot once instend of extending the info
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
Yeah, it's good to see it's not just me. It's happened at least half a dozen times in the past couple days to me. Personally, I loathe battery pulls so I just sit and click back and home a few hundred times to get a fc option.

yes same here because the rent is to damn high
It freezes on me as well
Hmm.. seems like I'm one of the few for whom the new Youtube is working perfectly.
It does the same thing for me - near frozen when I hit the back button on a video. The first time I did this I had the patience to eventually go through a power-off sequence (15-30 seconds between hitting buttons and getting a response). The second time I just did the 3 finger salute to reboot it.
Note that you don't have to pull the battery. Power-VolumeDown-Trackball is an instant reboot sequence (though it did take 5 to 10 seconds to perform it when Youtube was acting up).
Just a question here... most of you with issues do you have 1st batch/pre-release G2's? I only ask because I had a pre-release G2, and I had a crap load of issues with it. I sent that one back for an exchange to Tmobile, and got my new one yesterday. I have zero issues at all. New YouTube works great, I have full signal now, and, well the phone works the way its meant to work.
I've had two lockups on my Xoom sine I received the update yesterday. I didn't have any lockups in the three days I had the Xoom before the update. In both cases I put the Xoom to sleep using the power button and I had to reboot (volume up + power).
Anyone else seeing more lockups in 3.01?

I just had a lockup in stock browser with user agent set to desktop. i was on theunion.com viewing a story about the fukushima reactors from ap.org. there was flash content in the right column. I can't help but wonder if the leaked flash 10.2 is the same build that will be released on 3/18.
after waiting 60 seconds the freeze relented and the menu bar became responsive again.

i'm having this issue with my wifi xoom. i can't even get into recovery to do a hard reset b/c, from a guess, after selecting nvflash the screen is supposed to go off then back on. mine won't come back on. so mine must be hardware.
I had 4 -5 random reboots and a number of FC's before the update. After the update I haven't had a single random. Even with overclocking.
sucks for me. since the nearest place to replace it is 50miles away I have to hold on to it until I get a chance to replace it. I may be able to tomorrow since it's pretty close to my job, but it depends on whether my wife picks up my daughter or if I have to.
crap like this puts a bad taste in your mouth though.

Dude, that sux. I haven't had any bad things like what you guys are having happen to me. My Xoom has been great. Maybe you guys should look at some of the apps you've installed. When my eLocity A7 was acting up, not waking up from sleep and such it turned out to be incompatable software I installed.
Turned it on this morning and this is what the screen looks like now. I assume my screen is going out. Would I be correct? I tried turning the unit off then back on but it didn't fix anything.

This is certainly hardware related. It could be damaged or not properly connected LCD ribbon cable.
Before I start thinking about hardware issues, I would start looking at software issues.
I base this on the screenshot issue to begin with.
Quite honestly, I would wipe and format that puppy. Then flash a somewhat stock rom.
Hell, I would wipe and format several times,
Also, some info on what rom you have now would be helpful. Bootloader version would be nice.
Looks like you run an aftermarket launcher,,
MD
I was thinking of trying a reset. Guess I'll try that first.
Also, I'm running non-rooted with stock launcher.

There is a slight possibility that this could be a software issue, but the screenshot seems to be ok, so at least screenshot app is getting correct data.
@guitarman584 how the screen looks when you boot up the tab? Does the Acer logo in bootloader looks ok or is it mixed up together?
It does the same thing on the Acer and Android boot up screens.
Then there's no way it's a software issue. You can try opening it and checking if the LCD cable is properly connected to the motherboard but can void your warranty. You can also damage it more if you're not skilled enough.

Well this sucks. The warranty ended on 7/12/12. The timing couldn't be worse. Guess it won't hurt anything to open it up and check the connections.

If you paid with plastic you should look and see if the card has a warranty bonus. I am having crazy issues with 3d, so it was a drag when I checked my warranty @ Acer. Then I remembered that the card I used added an extra year. So thankfully, while I haven't sent it back yet, I know I have plenty of time to goof with it.
I've never heard of that. I used my ATM card, not a credit card so it doesn't seem like I would have it on a normal checking account card.
I just noticed something that doesn't make sense. When I press and hold the bookmarks widget as shown in the 2nd post, the issue goes away until I let go. I did a hardware and software reset but this didn't help. Also when I go to slide to another screen, the issue goes away. I'll try and get video of it so you can see exactly what it does.
Here's the video of what I was talking about yesterday.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PVIMbYFRis
I just noticed that while on the lock screen, everything is fine. It's only when viewing any of the 5 screens that the issue shows itself.

While I was browsing Google maps my nexus 7 made a noise. It wasn't quite the camera noise but it was close.
Then popped up some superuser requests from an "app" called dump state. I know I should have taken a screenshot of what it was asking for but one of the line codes was something about IP table possibly. I couldn't catch the word fast enough.
Anybody have any info on this?

It's not a virus, dumpstate gives you detailed system information.
Could this be used for malicious purposes?

i get this sound and request every time i watch a video, but i can get rid of the dialog that pops up asking what to do with the dump file and still watch the video. how do i find out what is causing this?
Yea I had this pop up twice. and I am not even sure how it was triggered. the first time was while i was on my way to work... and i left my tablet in my bag and when i took it out at the office my screen was on and asking for su and then wanted me to email it to myself or put it in drive.
2nd time just happened while i was leaving office today or rather while i was already on my way home from the office.
Im using PA2.99b8 and not clue how its triggered... any insights into how not to have it keep poping up as it drains battery cause it just leaves my screen on would be nice.
Its triggered by simultaneous pressing of volume and power. Simply delete bugmailer.sh to be done with the annoyance.

It's an issue with superSU latest update. Chainfire is aware and will fix it tomorrow.
@ChainfireXDA: Cause of dumpstate found. Little to see here. Will explain later, gotta run to a birthday party now!
Anyone else experiencing this? In the 24 hours I've been using my nexus 10, this has happened at least 10 times. All of a sudden the device becomes unresponsiv, the screen dims until it turns off, and the only way to get the device back on is holding down the power key multiple times until it boots back up. Needless to say, quite frustrating. Otherwise, love this device.

Not quite sure how one loves a device that forces you to reboot ten times in the last 24 hrs. It's like buying a new Honda and loving it even though it stalls ten times a day.
Too many people apparently buy their device to adoringly stare at like a trophy or a collectors item than actually use.
Those all seem like pretty legitimate apps to me. This would suck but I would suggest deleting one app and using the tablet till it happens then rinse repeat till you find the offending program.
Try the secret magic spell: a full wipe

Add me to the list of people with random freezes and reboots. It's happened to me 3 times since I've gotten the tablet a few days ago, and I was using a different app each time. I suspect it's an OS bug rather than an app that's causing it. It's a little disheartening that Google let their new flagship 10" device get released with such a bug. Hopefully they release an OTA update sooner rather than later.
For the record, I rooted using the flashable CWM SuperSU file - I did not use the toolkit.
I have had my 16gb 10 now for almost a week - currently stock and non rooted. No problems whatsoever and I have been working it pretty hard.
Mine has frozen 2-3 times in the past few days. No idea why either. Audio continues to play, and the device responds to button use, but the display stops altogether.

I got mine like a week ago and it's been frustrating. I debated whether to return it or not. I really like the Nexus 10 but this has been really inconvenient. Does CM10.1 have the issue coz I am planning on rooting and flashing CM10.1 if it resolves the issue. Just trying to get an input.

Happened to me several times as well. Last time the screen went black (not off) and the tablet was extremely hot, to the point of burning my hand when I touched it! Seems it was stuck that way for several hours and didn't reboot itself.
I've been having random rebooting and freezes since getting this tablet i've replaced it three times already so i'm tired of calling google about it don't even think they have a solution because we've been waiting since November for them to fix this problem so i decide to turn off location and took HD widgets out and so far my tablet has not frozen or rebooted in two weeks it been working really well hope it continues to perform this way.
Chrome has major stability issues as far as I can tell. It crashes very frequently and causes a complete system lock-up when it does. I've resorted to Firefox. To me, this is absurd on a core first party app. Google: get your act together on Chrome.
I recently noticed this issue and have been reading what a lot of others here have had to say and so far it seems to be related to wifi. I would bet it's a software / kernel / driver issue because others have reported not having the problem before the latest update.
If I think about it, I probably had the lockup/reboot happen once before now and I can't really tell you what I was doing at the time. But I thought nothing of it. I have however found a way to force it to happen. All it takes is a large download (1gig'ish) in uTorrent, the download works fine for about 10 minutes and then the tablet either just restarts, or it first becomes unresponsive to input (screen or buttons) but is still functioning, followed by a hard lock up that can only be fixed with a forced power off.
It may be a buffer issue, or memory leak, I've been able to prolong the lockup by throttling the uTorrent download speed and minimizing the number of active apps running. As suggested in other threads I've disabled location discovery and it may have bought me a little more time but if so it's not much. I can't tell if it's because of the amount of constant data flow coming in, or the number of active connections to different seeders, or more likely a combination of the 2. I can also say that if I attempt to browse the web with either chrome or Dolphin while downloading in uTorrent the freeze or reset happens much quicker.
So for now I'm hoping that in the next update they resolve the issue and will just use my pc for torrent downloading.
T.D.K,
It may help Google resolve this issue if you reported your obvervations in this bug report thread:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39879
I think the wording you used in your post would be sufficent. Nothing helps identify where a bug is more than a repeatable instance of the issue.
Turning off the location services and uninstalling HD widgets sorta worked for me... I still get random reboots though but mostly when I'm using Chrome. Google should have just left the stock android browser and made Chrome optional.

Nope, the problem was submitted to Google months ago and is listed to only receive medium priority. A total system failure that affects every single Nexus device is only given medium priority. Makes me ponder what in glory be would be considered high priority. Maybe if the tablet reached out and kicked you in the balls whenever you looked away from it
