[Q] Flashing own sbf's?

At first, Hi from Germany.
This is my first post here on xda, and I have one or two questions about flashing sbf's.
1. The root for 2.3.6 is a modified sbf, which is flashable, how is this working?
2. How is the signature of an sbf or an .zip working?
Is it possible to extract and duplicate an signature?

1.) The root for BL7 2.3.6 is a modified SBF. Root for BL6 2.3.6 is the same zergrush method... Dunno how they were able to repack without breaking the signature!! So dunno how its working. Basically all you need is to include the su binaries in system in the SBF(found in cg35.smg after depacking sbf and its a simple image)...
2.) Nope not possible to extract signature. Had it been possible there would have been big issues worldwide! Just imagine anyone being able to imitate any company's signature! That's the reason 2nd init is needed so that .zip s can be installed without moto having signed them...

And how are program's or whatever reading the signature?
What is the signed part?

can we get this sbf asia retail ver rooted . I need this ver only.

Read before you post. DFP-231 is BL7 and the exploits don't work with it. Only way is to flash a rooted SBF.
PS: Not sure why you want the specific SBF only. There isn't any difference in those.

can i get the link of rooted sbf and steps to flash it.

i never used rsd lite but i have installed it with motorola drivers
ithink i have to connect my phone select sbf step by step and start it am i right.

1- download root&Boot&AIO.rar
2- unzip.
3- exec runme.bat,
5- press enter when the script tell u

If you have a newer revision of Defy+, you need rooting using the SBF method: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956

DFP-231 is a BL7 build. None of the exploits will work with that. You need to flash the rooted SBF to your phone.
This will work..[success!] defy bl7 root!
Or DFP-188, DFP-231, DFP-2311 BL7 Finally Rooted
They are both same.

Well if you dont mind me asking how do i flash it and i dont really want to lose all my data are you sure there is no other way

There isn't a script to do that so you have to flash the SBF using RsdLite..
There is a guide for that search for it..
Also see the threads in the previous post, some users were able to flash those without wipe..

Ok But are you sure there is no other way to do this because i heard flashing might void my warrentiy

AFAIK there isn't another method yet..
Rooting will void your warranty not flashing

Ok But there arent many detailes on how to do this procdeure explain how i can do this and also the 2nd and 3rd downloads are all in chinese and my googgle wont trasnlate it so i cant read or download it and how do i flash my defy pluss detailed pictures would help because im new to the idea of this i was olny told about rooting a week ago and ive beed on google every day this week and i cant find a way so if you could post some download links and some screen shots or pics of how to do this that would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

The sbf flashing method works for dfp231 builds. you'll need to download RSDLite. google for instructions on how to flash sbf's using RSDLite. it works

I'll try to post detailed instructions as soon as I get some time..

As for the chinese SBF(CN), see the other thread. You can chose the European SBF(CEE) from there( do make sure its the same version in step 2 &4)

I Will Be Rooting My Phone Tommorw so Gathering As Much Knowledge As Possible.
But One Doubt,
I was checking SBF files HERE ---> http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php
And Since I Am From INDIA.
I couldn't find any SBF from Indian Carrier.
Can You Help Me Choosing One SBF.

Rooted my device
Installed cwm
And now i m running jelly bean without any issues

But brother the full Motorola defy thread is all about sbf and sbf.
I am new to rooting and installing cwm on motorola phones.
having defy+ now.
Also canwe return back to stock?
How did you install CWM?
Can you give me step by step details.

I think it is the "Retail Taiwanese" version.
I don't exactly remember now, but i had searched about a year back for my Defy+, and found out that its "Retail Taiwanese - DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CN_SIGN"

There is a retail Asian version which was used for Indian release.

I dont remember the topic right now but check my all post to different topic. You will find one for rooting. I have used the same.
Safe and sound for me.

Hi, can you please help me to find stock SBF for my defy plus (india), i rooted my phone 7 months ago by flashing a rooted SBF file following this guide, now i want to go back to stock ROM for giving it for warranty... but didn't take backup of my STOCK SBF file that it came with, stupid me
i have gone through this list http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php but its very confusing, which version does Indian users have to flash to go back to stock ROM?
only thing i know is my defy plus came with this STOCK ROM ----> 4.5.1-134_DFP-231 with android version 2.3.6
Is it possible to find correct stock Rom for my defy plus with this limited knowledge ??
EDIT:
managed to find a screen shot of my stock rom which i took before rooting, is it possible to unroot with this information?

I had found the retail asian somewhere, i can't recall.

Just flash any dfp231, root it, edit build.prop to look like your screenshot details, use a root file manager to remove the root manager(superuser or super su) and you're good to go

That's retail asian, open the zip and check. I have both. Taiwanese for SBF reflash and Asian for stock.

After extracting the zip I got a single file of 360mb size named
DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CN_SIGN_UCADEFYEMARAB1B50AA009.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRIRD15_P015_A030_Service1FF.sbf
its not asia sbf
what i am doing wrong

It is retail Asian. Flash the file you extracted with rsdlite.

sorry i am still in doubt, where its written as "Asia Retail" , the gz zip file from with i extracted the sbf is actually listed as "Retail Taiwanese" at this page http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php
see the 19th entry from bottom, its the same file gz zip file you gave me.
Or is Retail Taiwanese the Asia Retail

Don't know about the confusion, but i flashed it and it says retail asian in the settings.

[Q] Defy bricked

Hello all,
For the 2nd time in 3 years I have bricked my phone. I was using Cyanogen 7.2 in the past and today I have decided to try MIUI.
After a flash i was geting reboot before Android was loaded to I decided to install the base OS.
Installed RSDLite5.6 -- shashed one of the oficial Andro for version 2.2.1 I think (closed page and I don't have it in front now) and device is all dead.
I know in the past I have flashed a chinese ROM and was working again...rooted and all of that but I can't find a download link for a ROM to do this.
I am not shure how to proceed also.
Can you guys help me, it will be much apreciated.

I've got the same problem, tried to root with superoneclick, first time it didn't go through, 2nd time it went through. Phone turned off (instead of rebooting) and screen is black since then, doesn't come on....

If you're planning to use jelly bean ROM, you can still flash it
Otherwise search for a bl6 sbf for defy. These threads are there in development forum

I can't flash a custom rom now because I don't have recovery. The only thing I can do with my phone is to enter download mode.
As far as I know I have to:
- flash a new room that I can use it to boot device and work on it.
- root device and install recovery
- install cooked rom
My problem is that I don't know what to flash so that I can boot my phone --- now it is in the dead phase

You have to flash an sbf, not a ROM(that's what you will flash once you get back recovery). Read the defy beginners guide to get the steps. Basically:
Get sbf (search and download)
Get rsdlite and Motorola USB drivers
Flash it (from boot loader mode)

As mentioned already I have flashed sbf with RSDLite and still in trouble. Please point me to a correct sbf file to use. This is what I need
