Hey guys.
I just got my Nexus 7 from a friend who just came home from usa. I love it. But I'm having a serious problem... It wont charge over 0%... I'm charging it through usb beacuse I don't have an adapter yet. Gonna buy one tomorrow. But I've charged it for about 45 min - 1h now, and still just 0%, seriously, more than one hour to gain one percent??
WHY AIN'T MY NEXUS CHARGING??????
Thanks

Use the GNexus charger, usb probably doesn't put enough juice through..
The stock charger for the n7 is 2.0a, USB 2.0 has an output of 500ma max, it just isn't enough power to make a major difference.
even a gnex charger wouldn't be as good as the n7 charger, my gnex charger output is rated as 0.7a on the charger.
My S3 charger is rated at 1.0a

In Ireland we have 220v as well so it should be fine, the charger handles what is output to the device so it should be fine.
The device in every country has the same input, its the charger that is different.

See if you can get an official one from eBay or something, I don't wanna tell you to get a 2.0a charger just in case.
Mine says output 5.0v 2.0a on it but non official chargers may not be good for the device.

Is there anything wrong with using my iPod charger to charge my nexus 7?
It says 5v 1A, and it's an aftermarket white cube iPhone/iPod charger.
I plugged it in for a few seconds and it showed the charge icon.
Some people say it's better to charge slowly, and others say you might burn up the charger, so what's the deal here?
Also, does Apple have some kind of funny voltage thing? I seem to recall something like there's +3v or something on the data pin? Will that mess up something with long term use?
And while we're at it, what about the standard USB wall chargers, 500 mAh? How about those?

what if it was 500 mAh?
even google says you can charge [with the screen off] at 500 mAh [standard phone charger, usb, laptop, etc]
so why would making that 1A ruin my device and the charger?

no it will just charge slower. i dont know where people are getting their info that a lower amp charger can ruin your nexus. if the amp is too low it just wont charge. So when i nexus is plugged into my desktop to transfer files and charging it can get damaged?
ive been using 3 different chargers on my nexus 7 and they all work but at different rate. the lowest one is a 700mah motorola car charger that can still charge the tablet running maps and tethered to my phone. It charges very slowly though.
sometimes i plug it into my 1amp samsung charger to charge it overnight and would charge the nexus is about 4-5 hours. Im not sure if this is true but i read that using a slower charger is better on the battery. just be careful using cheap chinese chargers, those can ruin your device if you get a bad unit.

I'm not say all Chinese chargers are bad but just be careful with it. If your charger or tablet is not getting too hot while charging and stops when the battery is full then it's probably fine.
Will charge really slowly but will not damage. Why not using the n7 charger?

won't hurt it, I use many diffrent charges depending on where I am @ the time, mostly I use a cheap china dock that charges @ 1amp, a bit slow but works fine.

Stock everything. It's happened about 4 nights now.
I find that sometimes my stock charger detects as USB instead of AC. You can see if it is charging that way in the battery details in the settings. When it is stuck on USB it is way slower.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yeah and if you want it to charge a little bit more faster you turn off the device
Check about phone, make sure it says Charging (AC) and not Charging (USB). If it's USB then thats the reason why, use another charger.
My stock charger that came with N4 went to USB but then for some reason, after I replugged it, it went to AC and has been AC ever since.

Wow, glad I found this thread. I was wondering what the cause of this was, as well. I've been using my GNex charger since it switched over.
I tried calling Google Play device support. They said they don't replace chargers, and I should just use a standard micro USB cable and wall charger. The problem is, I have not been able to find a 1.2 Amp charger of any kind. Anything lower will charge the phone more slowly, and from what I understand, unless it's properly shorted out (I think), anything higher will not necessarily work properly with certain devices.
Can somebody please help me find a good replacement charger that won't charge the phone more slowly than the one the phone came with?
I believe Ipad chargers do 2amps, or try a 1amp charger since i haven't seen more than 880ma from my battery widget when charging it.
What about this? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073FCPSK/
USB Port 1 (Designed for Apple products) Compatibility
iPad @ 2 Ampere Max.
iPhone / iPod Touch @ 1 Ampere Max.
Others phones / GPS / Tablet etc. @ 0.5 to 1 Ampere Max. (May not support charging of some devices)
USB Port 2 (port close to LED, designed for non apple products) Compatibility
iPad @ NOT Compatible
iPhone / iPod Touch @ 0.5 Ampere Max.
Others phones / GPS / Tablet etc. @ 1 to 2 Ampere Max.
Would the non-Apple port work?
Somebody mentioned this to me on another forum: you gotta be careful with those dual chargers. sometimes the higher current port is limited to apple devices (i think they have a couple pins in the cable shorted)
What exactly does that mean? The product I linked to, does it have this problem?

No it's not gonna hurt the battery. The phone (or better a battery controller) controls the current that reaches the battery. So no matter how powerful a charger would be it will not charge above a certain current.

...*facepalm*. You're not using original charger and you're complain that the one you use doens't works so well? Do you know that original charger is pulling 2000mA out, while your usb-port is pulling between 300mA and 500mA (depends if it front or back usb-port and the quality of usb port). Do the math, 2600mAh battery and 300mA / h. Full charge should take: 2600:300 = more than 8.5 hours.
With original charger S4 recharges from 0 to 100 in 1h 49minutes. If you take a solar charger it will charge even slower (like 48 hours for 0-100%).
Next time try to use your brain before complaining.

Your Samsung power brick has the cable physically attached to it? If not, you can just use a longer cable with the Samsung power supply.
The included power supply is 2 Amps, whoever is getting long charging times, make sure you use either the original Samsung power supply, or comparable in amperage supply.
Mine charges in 2 and a half hours.
Mine takes 2 to 2.5 h to charge from 0 to 100 percent. You should only use the new white charger, it's more powerful than the black one from s3, it's output is 2.0A ,old one is only 1.0A. Newer use other chargers as they may mess up your battery or phone.

Take it this way, grilling meat takes for example 45minutes to cook completely. You take it to some powerful furnace like 2000degrees for 5minutes then what do you expect from it to give you back? Well cooked meat or some burned meat outside and maybe raw inside?

put it this way... the s3 comes with a 700ma charger. it charges a bit slow. and has a 2100mah battery.
the s4 comes with a 2 amp charger. thats 2000ma. it doesnt charge slowly if you use this charger. i personally am going to pop it on this charger when i get home from work and then keep it on my 700ma charger overnight... no reason to waste that powerful output, it will simply waste electricity.
make sure:
1. you use the charger that came with it
2. you use a cable thats as long as (or shorter than) the stock charging cable. longer usb cables tend to charge the phone slower.
also keep in mind usb ports charge any phone slowly. the s4 will charge even slower on them because the battery is oversized compared to most.

I cannot ask for replacement I bought in the USA and now I am back to my country so warranty is of no use.
PLEASE HELP.
Is the adapter is original? Not a fake one?

That is the problem with your apple charger.
You can check by yourself by using the Samsung cable and plug into the USB port on the PC to see if it works OK.
So the problem should be the charger.

OK it does charge via USB port on my PC but now every time I try charging via wall socket it charge less and less. Since warranty is out of question I was scared to death and wall charging charges 3x faster
Ok I guess I will have to find another USB charger, preferably original one.
I read lot of posts about people having issues with NOTE3 charging and it is scary.

No need to scary, your problem is just a apple charger.
You need to change to another charger and the thing will be ok.
BTW, to original charger for Note3 is 2A/5.3VDC. How about your apple charger? I doubt it does not have enough power to charge the Note 3.

Ohhhh, as I've said, this charger does not have enough power. Our Note 3 requires 5.3V / 2A, but this one only 5V / 1A.
You need another "stronger" charger.
Thanks
