I got my Nexus 7 the other day, and noticed there's no voice input option anywhere on the keyboard, or in the settings. It works fine, and shows up in Chrome and Google Now, but does not in Gmail, or Talk. Please help.

Anyone else having this problem? I switched to Vlingo and it's keyboard and everything works fine. Does the Google voice server go down often or is it something going on in my phone from the update?
I'm specifically trying to use text messaging with speech to text.
I don't like to post threads like this but is anyone not being able to send or receive Google voice texts?
I'm getting normal ones but no matter if I send it from the app, from a text or from the computer...it doesn't seem to be working.
Friend is having the same issue.
Google Voice ---> out
And
Out ---> Google Voice
Does not work.
Google Voice <----> Google Voice works though.
I haven't used it in about an hour, but google voice texting appears to be working normally.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
It's been a little less than an hour.
So I'm using Google Voice for texting but the interface isn't the greatest and I don't like how my sent messages don't really appear on the main Google Voice app when you open it. I used to use Handcent for my texting needs on my last Android device but since this tablet is wifi only I don't have a native texting app. I'd love to be able to use another texting app with my Nexus 7 that uses Google Voice. I tried installing a few different one and even trying an App which claimed to add Google Voice usability to third party sms apps. Anyone have any ideas?
Note: I use this tablet as my phone. I don't have a cell phone. I use this tablet with a mobile hotspot to access the 3g or 4g networks.
You could try desk sms. The app itself isn't yet compatible with the n7, but you can set it up in a desktop browser and set it to sync with Google Talk.
Then you can use Google Talk to send and receive texts
Thanks for the suggestion I'll try to check that out soon but it seems very similar to the other I app I used before. I'd really like to use Google Now's voice to text to text while on the go and I would need a native SMS app for it to do so. Right now it just says 'This feature isn't supported on this device.' Or something like that.
i keep un-checking the voice typing option in the keyboard setting. i am using 4.2.2 Google play edition. but it keeps randomly checked by itself!
it is annoying because it actually replaces the "," which i use often!!
any idea how to solve this? is there an apk i can remove via titanium backup to remove the voice typing. i never use it anyways.
thanks,
I have a Nexus 6P running the latest version Android 6.0.1. However, it is very odd that I never had this issue with my Nexus 6.
I have a car that just has a simple phone button (Bluetooth) to press which makes a sound and at that point I can simply say something like "Call Tom Brady". The phone usually uses my Verizon network to call the contact without any problems. I have been noticing that for a lot of my contacts 'Google Now' is trying to call them via Google Voice. The phone literally says calling so and so via Google Voice and then never connects. I don't know if this is because these contacts have a Gmail account or what, but it is very annoying and it never ends up connecting.
I bet if I uninstall the Google Voice app everything would work, but I need it for my visual voice mail.
One thing I have already tried is in the Google Voice App settings change it to 'Do NOT use Google Voice for any calls'.
This did not fix the issue.
Is there any Google Now settings or Google Voice settings that anyone can think of that might help me here?
