what needed to flash original fw - Galaxy S III General

i just got blue s3 , 64gb , from second hand phone shop sold to me as unlocked. currently using o2 in it so its definitely unlocked.
*#1234# shows
ap i9300bublg3
cp i9300bulg2
csc i9300vfgblg3 - i believe the vf bit means vodafone
it had some voda fone apps on it i could only disable - could not uninstall . which is the reason why i want to flash a original firmware to remove the bloatware.
1
problem i dont understand is which csc should i reset it to .
its currently I9300BUBLG3 / csc I9300VFGBLG3
so should i reset it to csc I9300OXADLI8 . / to match the factory firmware I9300XXDLI8
2
i am downloading I9300XXDLI8 789mb from sammobile and going to flash with odin. i know this is going to set off the flash coutner so do i just root it and reset coutner and then remove the root. well actually i just read that it wont ? ref http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835931 .
3
another problem is the fone is freezing , i pull it out of pocket and no buttons work i have to pull out battery and turn back on . the second hand phone shop asked me to update OTA whist in the shop but it said no updates available. but what i am doing is now is flashing it but with factory firmware so will this void warranty with voda or samsung.

If you just want to remove the bloatware..you just need to root ..install titanium backup and freeze/uninstall the unwanted apps..
To remove root you will have to flash the original stock firmware..however just flashing the stock firmware uisng Odin will not increase your flash counter..flashing root/recovery will.

ah ok so i just flash with odin and i am all done noting else needed

If the codes on your phone match the codes on an OTA update then yes .
If rooted OTA may fail .
You know XDA users do not use OTA Or Kies for updates .

Still confused?

If I am not mistaken..DLI8 is JB..if you want to change your CSC you can do so but I don't think you will get an OTA on JB firmware you will get an OTA on the latest ICS firmware of your region..
For me CSC doesn't make a difference for reasons:
I dont wan't to/need to use OTA for an update
CSC is just another way Samsung found to bloat their ROMs

sorry
just to confirm yes the firmware i9300xxdl18
is factory firmware for unlcoked phones which i found on here xda dev
and it is the leaked jelly bean one
and i do not have intention to root my device
so as long as the csc matches the pda firmware vers i will still get ota updates?

How to change my country preferences to receive OTA updates earlier

Hi there,
My country is pakistan and therefore my OTA updates are received later than other countries, can you please help me how can i change my country preferences and so i can set it with UK or Germany to get updates earlier than PK?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 2
As far as I know, the update will roll out based on your currently installed ROM. Inside the ROM, there is the CSC-part, which contains country-specific data.
The only way to change that would be to flash a different CSC to your phone. And this means root, loss of warranty, and so on.
But in this case, you can flash the desired firmware directly.

Csc: I9505BTUEMJ8
So is that UK? Once I returned back to stock, I flashed Nordic MGA rom with odin and then got OTA updates until 4.3. I have never changed csc on purpose. Does it change while flashing custom roms?

[Q] Cant update via Kies. CSC doesnt match. Newbie Questions

Hello, Im new to this forum and hope not violating any rules..
I just bought Galaxy S4 i9500 and has stock 4.2.2 installed. Cant update to kitkat neither with settings, nor with KIES 2.6/3.
Kies 2.6 says " Your Device's Current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies. " (see attch)
I'm total newbie with these CSC codes and nor googling helped me out with all my questions:
How to make CSC and phone sales codes match safely without flashing official rom?
I bought AFR version S4 designed for Kenya in republic of Georgia (Asia/Europe). There is no firmware designed for Georgia. So does this mean I will never be able to obtain updates OTA or via Kies?
Phone INFO and such apps didnt work coz it couldnt find "preconfig" file.. Does this mean flashing is the only way? Which websites are good for official stock firmwares?

Here is my question..
1) Will this baseband region phone ever receive OTA update?
2) if NOT, then should i use services that samfirmware.com offers?
if YES, then can i install official firmware originally created for another baseband? For example can i use Russian I9500XXUGNG3 kitkat on my I9500XXUBMG9 ?
Doesnt it void waranty?
What are the risks of bricking? i mean basebands differ from each other, isnt that problem?
Also Im dissapointed with 2G call voice, sometimes i barely hear caller.. Can this be Baseband problem? I think this bmg9 baseband was originally for IRAQ carriers and im here in Georgia, which doesnt have specific baseband i guess...
I would be extremely grateful to those who answer me in this hard time ^^

Hi mate ,
First thing if you are in 4.2.2 is a shame to upgrade the bootloader..is Knox free
Your official updates most like it are blocked because you do not have the right CSC , download a nice little app from the market call PHONE INFO there it will tell you what your CSC is , this app can also change your CSC as long as it is available in the rom ( if you do backup first changing the CSC will do a factory reset)
Regarding your questions
1 OTA are CSC dependent
2 Samfirmware is good , and reliable you can go that way also
Second part of your questions
1 you can flash firmware for other countries , that is not a problem , BUT you may have problem with what languages are available , specific country services may not be available , no OTA
2 As long as you only flash stock rom (odin) you will not void the warranty
3 Briking is always a risk but when flashing not for different basebands
4 Maybe , for sure the right baseband would help

If I change CSC code to USA will I get OTA updates as soon as USA citizens get it? Doesnt it depend that im outside of USA?

Hi,
A knox free bootloader is important if warranty some how is important for you , other wise there are the same
Regarding your first set of questions
1 Not an expert on kies but as long as all the csc inpho match it should , unless there is an issue with kies registration or IP
2 CSC give you country specifics network set ups , differnt countries have different set ups , fastdormancy , special services.......
3 you need to flash a stock rom from your country or region
Yes flashing firmware may change the csc code.

[Q] Haven't recieved Lollipop update yet, got few questions.

Hello,
I'v bought a GALAXY S5 G900F before two months, and it hasn't received the lollipop update, yet. I bought it from Saudi Arabia and now I've moved to Jordan (should that be a problem?)
I cannot wait anymore and I want to manually upgrade to Lollipop and I've got few questions.
1) Is it okay if I download a firmware for another CSC code? mine is (G900FOJV1AOA1) and in sammobile the latest downloadable firmware is 4.4.2.
2) If I root the mobile afterwards and a 5.0.1 was released OTA or via Kies, how can I get it? can I un-root to get the update then root it back?
3) Is there a way to reset the KNOX counter?
4) Are there any better websites than sammobile to download the firmware and how can I ensure if it is legit and untouched?
5) Why do different countries get the update so late? this is so irritating. why cannot Samsung just make the update available for everyone ? especially for the international unlocked versions.
Thanks in advance,

1-yes but if you want stability for modem choose same reigon code (ex.XXU-BLABLA for russia\egypt\saudi arabia like that ... see your current firmware code and find the one with the same ... if not its no big deal its that some people say its better ... imho get the latest by samsung any area make sure its international)
2-umm no and yes ... no if u just unroot ... yes if you make a full wipe after unrooting (ofcourse with not deleting any system apps in partition :silly: )
3-until now .... no ... but its simple ... you have warrenty stay away ... u dont ... just go and screw it  :silly:
4-yes but sammobile is the best and fastest ... another site is samsung-updates ... it gives you new firmwares faster than sammobile but download speed is pathetic for ul.to and other mirror
5-i dunno for real but keep in mind that 99.999% of samsung phones which gets the updates are "russian" ones ... so if you have the russia stock rom you will be the first to get an OTA by 99.999% :fingers-crossed: :silly:
hope i helped

[Q] N9005 "No Service" need help to troubleshoot

Hey All,
I got a Note 3 N9005, which supposedly was purchased in UAE.
Currently trying to use it in India, but, the device always says "No Service", with a crossed circle instead of network signal icon on notification bar.
Phone is on 4.2.2 with UGNH1. Below are some observations:
- Phone does NOT ask for any PIN / Unlock Code.
- In Settings > Status.. irrespective of any SIM, or no SIM.. Mobile Network Type = Unknown, Service State= Out of service, Mobile Network State=Disconnected.
- Orig CSC code is displayed as XTC from Phone Info App
- Tried to select a different CSC from CSC Select app.. it changed the boot logo but, network status.. still crossed circle
- IMEI is proper as printed below the battery
- Still i tried ChainFire's RegionLockAway. But, as expected, the method is only for MI7 / MJ1 / MJ3 JB versions. Sadly mine has already crossed and has A2 bootloader. So, no change was observed with CF RegionLockAway. Reverted the cahnges.
- Tried to flash MJ1 / MJ3 binaries from sammobile. As expected the latest bootloader won't allow to downgrade.
- Flashed Omega, but for no luck. Still no service and crossed circle icon.
- Flashed latest CyanogenMod. Though there was no Crossed Circle icon, there was an icon of network signal with zero network.
- Flashed official Lollipop verson to see if any changes.. no luck. Reverted back.
- Installed advanced network info app, network status, neighboring MSC, cells.. etc was shown as none.
No clue how to enable the device's network capabilities (all else like WiFi and other feature work as usual).
It will be a great help if you can guide me through! Please let me know if any other info is required.
Thanks a lot in advance. !!
Purchased in UAE doesn't necessarily it was a UAE phone. Phone Info Samsung from Play Store can tell you where it is from.
What I would do is...
Download the firmware from Sammobile to suit your phone. One fairly common issue is that Hong Kong or Chinese phones get sold into Europe or other markets and their PIT and other partitions are different. So first thing is to go back to scratch.
If you phone IS from where you think, make sure you have the stock firmware for that location and flash the latest version using Odin and Download mode.
Start Odin - v3.09 is best.
To enter DL mode for anything to do with BL or Modem you MUST turn phone off. It is best to remove the battery and wait a while, then put it in and use the Power On+Vol-Down+Home key to get into DL mode, then [plug phone into PC and wait for Odin to notice it is there.
(if Odin doesn't notice it, get the latest Samsung USB drivers for the phone and install them with phone unplugged, then plug in phone and Windows should give a pop-up)
Click on AP in Odin and navigate to where you saved the firmware - note you DL'd a zip but you need the md5 file so use 7zip to unpack the zip.
Click on the md5 file and wait for it to load into Odin.
* [Auto Reboot] and [F.Reset Time] should be the ONLY things ticked.
Click [Start] and wait.
Let phone restart and set it up with your details. Once done see if you have network.

Thanks Journyman16 for the quickreply.
I installed the "Phone Info Samsung" app as you mentioned and found the phone's CSC code is XTC! (= Philippines (Open Line))!!
Thanks for the hint. I will download the latest firmware from sammobile for n98005 for XTC and check. Will be back with updates in some time.

Update:
Flashed below 3 stock firmwares from sammobile, each time cleared cache and factory wipe.. still the crossed circle is hopelessly adamant and persistent.
4.4.2 N9005XXUGNH1
4.4.2 N9005XXUGNI4
4.3 N9005XXUDMJ7 (failed to flash, i guess due to current bootloader version A3)
I tried with Odin 3.09.3 & 3.10.6 & 3.07 .... same result.
Any suggestions? please share.. I'm ok to soft brick the phone Recovered from boot loop few times
Any further suggestions? Please share.. Shall i give a try with full wipe (/system/ folder wipe) with TWRP ? Or any other thing ?!
Tried a different sim card ??

They are old stock ROMs - how sure are you the phone wasn't updated to the new version of BL? I'm not sure if you're on the new version and then try to downgrade it, which version you will see in Phone Info but check it. There's also a phone # code to use that returns the basics for the phone, but I can't recall if you said you get calls or not and I'm heading for bed. Think the code is something like *#12334#* - google for secret smartphone codes.

When I search networks Manually.. it searches for a ~10 seconds and returns without any list/error.

Yea Journyman16, they seem to be still good old of 4.4.2. Latest must be 5.0. On samobile, for XTC i could see only till 4.4.2. Maybe for this phone version, there are no updates? Not sure.
And, yes, sadly BL is updated to A3. Which I could see in Recovery mode's REV line. (if it was A1, I could have flashed MI7 and tried RegionLockAway.. )

I'd upgrade rather than try to get around the downgrade issues. What Region do you WANT to have? European ones seem to get early release of upgrades - e.g. many LP ROMs are based around the Polish release.
I don't know enough to interpret logs, but my thought would be to find a non-Philippines version (one of the Europe ones perhaps) and find a PIT file for that one. Then go read up on how to safely flash a new PIT. Then flash your preferred firmware and follow the root process etc.
I started with a HK version of S3 - every time I tried to flash a new ROM it failed and bricked my phone. Eventually I found that the PIT file on most Asian phones was different and I flashed PIT, then stock FW for the region I wanted then re-rooted and flashed the custom ROM.
Read many time, flash once, OK? I do not make bricks, nor need them, so I will not accept them delivered to my door...

There's a Euro PIT on the link at This Post - I checked and the dropbox is still valid. It's 4.4.2 so could be just what you need.
Now you probably want an India ROM but I haven't any links for that 0 there's a thread for India users though I think.
What I think might be happening is that different countries use different frequencies and formats for signal. It might be that India's set up simply doesn't work with the modem you've been using and the India ROM will not set up with the Asian PIT set up etc.
But read up on the process first, OK? The more you know about it the better chance you have to recover from anything going wrong.
Also, I presume from your OP that the phone NEVER worked once you got it? Do you know for a fact it worked prior to that? Maybe you're chasing solutions for a faulty hardware issue?

Hi Journyman16, thanks for the suggestions.. i tried the pit file you referred, but, still no luck. And, if i'm not wrong pit file is all about allocating ROM space for /system & /dbdata and has nothing to deal with the antenna/telephony module, please correct if i'm not right.
About the phone's status yea you're right. It never worked after i received it. But, it was working usually in UAE, as per the info i got. Maybe.. as you suspected.. it might be faulty hardware too.. I don't know.. just exploring the options.. to conclude something..

The only unbranded NH1's seem to be Greece or Netherlands. Netherlands has a 5.0 - maybe DL that and flash in Odin? Greece has a v5.0 but it's branded with (EUR) so I don't know if that's a company or general... I'd go the Netherlands one.
Other than that, I'm not sure - might be time to get the phone checked properly?
Finally.. could trace the root cause.. antenna / receiver chip malfunction. So, it was an hardware issue that had to be replaced at a cost at service center.
Summary: If network icon is crossed circle, its not a good sign !! Thanks

Change CSC? Can I install different version via ODIN?

I'd like to change the CSC of my phone to a different one. Could I just flash the BTU image via ODIN? What should I do?
I do not have root.

Download the latest BTU-firmware from i.e. SamMobile
1. Install Odin 3.10.7
2. Put AP BL CP CSC in the designated slots (your device will be resetted afterwards)
If you reflash the current AP + BL + CP BUT use the Home-CSC version the device will not reset data.

You can use the firmware the henklbr posted and use the home-csc from the country u want.
I did this on a BTU csc and went to the PHN csc without erasing anything.

Do make sure you backup the data, because it is not 100% guaranteed..

PHN is from my own country, it holds carrier specific stuff.
Basically you can use any CSC you want, but some CSC versions also install extra software at first boot.

I bought my S7E from eBay and the CSC is THR (Iran).
Is there any reason I should change the CSC? What do you recommend? BTU or NEE? Any other?
Thank you!

If the phone works fine now i would not change anything.
If you are a flashaholic then use the latest and greatest from the link i posted.
If you just want automatic updates on a regular basis via OTA then flash BTU, chances are that this firmware will be updated quicker.

I just want OTAs.
If BTU has G935FXXU1APD3 and THR has G935FXXU1APD1 does it mean the BTU version has a newer version?

In that case you must flash the stock image from BTU.
That firmware can be easily found.
But keep in mind that this will reset the phone !!!

Can I ask why it will reset the phone? If I flash from current version APD1 from THR to APD3 from BTU via ODIN, will it reset my data?

If you want OTA then you need to setup the phone with all stock firmware.
So you need to use the CSC file and NOT the Home_CSC file.
When using the normal CSC file, the script in the CSC formats data on your phone. (factory reset)
Sure you can use Home_CSC but then you will not get OTA files, or when you get them they will fail when installing.

So you're saying if I put HOME_CSC, OTA will not work, so I MUST use original CSC file and format my data if I want to get OTAs?
No way around this without losing my data? It's a pain in the a** to format everything...

Brotuck, thank you very much for all your posts here. They have been very useful for me! I bought a Galaxy S7 online for quite a good price. Phone has worked well with no issues apart from one! Which was that it would not upgrade to the latest firmware for the S7 from Samsung: G930FXXU1APD3. My phone had the upgrade ending in APD1. I did some investigation using PhoneINFO app from the Play store and turns out my phone CSC code was TRI and BGY which are Vietnam and Hong Kong! Turns out my phone is a grey market phone as I am in the UK.
I wanted APD3 because I am in the UK with the EE network which provides WiFi calling which I wanted for my my phone as I work in a building which has very poor reception but has WiFi. I read the APD3 version allows for WiFi calling. I called all the Samsung helplines to get my phone upgraded but no luck. Eventually I thought to go the DIY route and found this thread! I was quite wary of downloading and updating my phone using the Odin method and thought long and hard several times fearing I would brick my phone! However last night I bit the bullet and updated!! You will be happy to know thanks to this thread, and various others I Googled, the phone upgraded with no issues (so far!). I can now see the WiFi toggle in the Phone settings!!! I used the full csc code and not the Home code and so had to add all my stuff back on the phone again but that was not too bad as I had backed up my phone using Smart Switch.
I have just one question though: My phone now shows Bootloader, PDA and CSC versions as G930FXXU1APD3 but the Baseband version is still showing: G930FXXU1APD1. Is this correct. Does the Baseband version not update with the latest firmware?
Many thanks again.
Best CSC for VOLTE - VIDEO CALLING - ATT
I am on ATT Network using the G935F - and I am curious if there is a CSC I can flash that would enable me to take advantatage of ATT VOLTE and VIdeo Calling from the main phone dialer apk?
I know I can use hangouts - but it would be simpler to use the regular dialer and I really would like the benefits of VOLTE if I can get them....
I understand that not all providers or all areas offer VOLTE or Native Video Calling for that matter but I beleive that some do - I Just don't knwo which ones?
Any suggestions?

It really depends on the used firmware you installed. It is very possible that PD1 is the baseband version.
Don't worry about it. If it all works fine, do not mess with it.
Change CSC make service codes (i.e. *#0*#) impossible to use.
