Hi, I was on 7.1 stable.
Went into Stable Recovery (also tried Customer).
I wiped/factory reset, wiped dalvik cache
I installed Flashed kernel-froyo-222-179-4-signed.
Installed CM10-20120924-NIGHTLY-mb525
installed gapps-jb-20121011-signed
wiped cache, dalvik cache
Rebooted.
But it boots to a CM7 (my previous sys) logo, then goes blank and reboots. Any ideas what went wrong?!?!

Why won't you try the new build from yesterday (9th nov)?
Just don't flash kernel for 2ndboot builds..

Ahhh, was looking in the /defy/ directory...
So I need to
Wipe, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik
Install latest 2nd Boot CM10
Install JB GApps
Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik
Reboot?
Just realised, the latest is a MB526, I've got the 525, is that going to matter (much)>???>
Well tried it, didn't work, even worse, just get a red led and nothing. Any more ideas? LOL

Now, in trying to get my CM7.1 back on, i'm getting 'Error Mounting /Data' WTF?!?! How do I get out of this lol

Hi, I also own a mb525: because of united builds the phone should show the device as it were a defy+ ...
If the device reboots do not worry: it happens to me too when I update to ltest nightly, just wait the second boot and it should boot fine.
If it does not pull off your battery for a little while, reinsert it and it should boot properly ( forever ).
PS: you do not need to flash a kernel because it is inside the zip you flash.

It doesn't matter if your device is a MB525.
Try the clean install again without wiping caches at the end.
Hope this help you.

[Q]": DEFY+ BL7 Rooted .. now what for CM7.2

I have successfully rooted my DEFY+ (BL7, build 4.5.1-134_DFP-231) using this post
I got root and have the 2nd-init apk in my phone. I installed the stable for Cm version of bootloader, and tried to install CM7.2 nightly from 27th Jan (here). but after reboot, it went to a bootloop.
For now, I have reflashed the original sfbs in the first link and restored to stock.
Now, can anyone detail me the steps from installing the 2nd-init to geting the CM7.2 live on my phone please..
PS: I don't mind buying a beer or two for the help
Try flashing cm72-20120506-NIGHTLY-Defy+.zip by Quarx. Just root your phone again, install 2nd-init 2.0, chose LATEST and then flash the above build, without flashing kernels. Remember to wipe data/cache and dalvik cache before flashing CM7.2 and cache and dalvik after that.
Thanks Auris! I am already rooted now. So below are the steps I should take: ?
1. Install 2nd-init. Choose latest.
2. Reboot, it will go to 2nd-init menu.
3. Choose recovery--custom recovery
4. Wipe data, cache & dalvik cache
5. Install the Quarx Build you linked
6. Install Gapps
7. Wipe Cache & Dalvik cache
8. Reboot
9. In 2nd-init menu, choose 2nd-init boot
Is that all? Please let me know if I missed anything

Upgrading a CM10 build to a newer version of the same

I have a noob question.
When I opted for CM over stock and also when I switched from CM9 to CM10, I executed a full data wipe.
The question is, if I'm upgrading to the same ROM, but a later version, like CM10(20th July build) to CM10(22nd July build), do I still need to do a data wipe, or do I just install it over the previous one?
Thanks for reading.
do not wipe data, just wipe cache and dalvik and you are good to go.

[Q] Motorola Defy on CM7 stucked on boot screen! Urgent!

Hi guys!
I have just rooted my Motorola Defy and installed CM7 (7.0.2) into it using the instructions provided by CM wiki. I decided to use ClockworkMod and bootmenu, since I'm on Mac OS X.
Well, everything went fine until I tried to open the Market app, which was not working. Searching the web, I found that the solution could be wiping user data and caché through the recovery mode. As I could not figure out how to start the bootmenu (which I learned later), I did it through the stock recovery mode (using power + volume down)... and since that I can't boot my phone anymore!
I have already tried wiping everything again and installing CM7, but I'm still facing this problem.
Please, anyone have any ideas? I'm almost desperate.

So after doing a factory reset from stock recovery, you say you're trying to install CM7...
Are you installing this from CWM recovery?
Did you wipe Dalvik cache?
Are you using an MB525 Defy or an MB526 Defy+, and is the CM7 zip you're flashing a Defy or a Defy+ build?
>
You've probably not wiped Dalvik it seems.
In CWM recovery, go to Advanced and under that select Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Do yhis and a normal cache wipe every time you flash a ROM update. If you flash a totally new rom like CM10, wipe data also.

Hi! Thanks for the reply, and sorry for my English.
Actually, I have already installed CM7 and it worked fine, except for the Market app. Trying to solve this, I have done a factory reset from stock recovery and, since that, CM7 is locked to the boot screen.
And yes, I have installed CM7 through CWM recovery, and I'm using a MB525 Defy.
Well, I have just tried wiping Dalvik Cache, but it seem as if nothing happens when I select this.
Ya wiping Dalvik is very fast, but it will make a lot of difference. Every time you update your ROM, wipe both cache and dalvik.
>
If this didn't solve your problem, try wiping market data and uninstalling market updates. They will reinstall on their own.
>
If even that doesn't work, reflash the GAPPS zip.
BTW, shouldn't you be on CM7.2? That's the latest CM7 as far as I know.

You can only wipe data from an app trough the Apps Manager inside CM7 (that means you have to boot up your phone).
Try flashing the newest CM7.2 and the newest GAPPS for CM7.2.
If the problem persists, return your phone to the old .sbf and start all over again.

Well, I really can't boot my phone. I just can access bootloader and both recovery modes from stock and CWM (bootmenu).
Do you know how can I flash a .sbf on OS X? I know a lot of programs for Windows, and I also have found a script (sbf_flash.sh) that should work on Mac, but it seems that a lot of people are having problems in OS X (including myself).

OK. Go to CWM recovery. Wipe data. Wipe cache. Wipe dalvik.
Now install WhiteRabbit 1.8 or Maniac's CM7.2.
Flash the GAPPS packages linked in the respective threads.
Now AGAIN wipe cache and dalvik.
You should boot normally.
>
As long as you can access CWM, there's no need to reflash the SBF.

Hi,
I have just reflashed a retailer version using RSD on a friend's computer and it is now back to life... now I'm figuring out what is the best path to follow.
Thanks for the help!
Factory resetting from stock recovery messes up custom Rom!! If You are on custom rom, you have to use CWM for doing wipe etc...

Yeah... I know that. I just wanted to rollback everything and have the phone back. I'm now studying which is the best ROM for me to install again, but meanwhile, I have my phone working.

Wipe all from stock recovery then reinstall rom.....
