I been wanted to create this thread for longtime because i find that user way of reporting bugs isn't much positive
This lead to particular OP for the Rom Build/Mods/Apps/Themes unable to provide a proper fix
Particular problem is from the user whom take for granted steps & reading just for sake finding for "downloads"

Therefore i would like introduce few steps that make OP & User with their problem easier
Post at correct forum (Particular Device)
I found that some particular user posted on wrong forum that are not related
Example :: problem on Xperia XXXX ROM on Samsung Forum thread(This Is Improper)
Please Post on the Device Forum that dedicated for your device only
[*]Post at particular Thread that you have encounter problem
If you have a problem/bug to report on XXX Rom.Do Report on XXX Rom Thread & not YYY Rom or other's
If there's a Solution/FAQ Page for the particular rom do report on the thread instead the [DEV] thread
Doesn't require to open a thread on the Android Development Forum. It's just spam at there. We hate it(I mean you not suppose to)
[*]Do Not Use The Private Message Button
Please Never Ever Sent Any PM to developers just to report the bug you encountered.Post it on the particular thread that mentioned
Developers/OP will have an eye on it.Therefore doesn't need to sent pm to report your's
Do appreciate work by the developers & respect they have their own time too.Keep your question on thread
[*]Read OP Pages At least twice
The place that you will gain all the info you should have
Read every single notice/quote/information/instruction/faq/other's written page
Do not just head to the download section and press the download
Get every info on which particular thing you need and what you should do to install it
[*]Follow ALL the instruction given
When the OP Posted Wipe Cache & Dalvik. It mean to select that particular option only
If the OP Posted Use Only Select/Recommend Kernel. Please do only flash/install particular kernel only
Follow each and all instruction properly(No lazyness/Skipping) any one of those
[*]Search through thread whether the similar problem has been reported
Let say you have setting fc's everytime you enable the sound option.Do search before whether other user have reported or not
If The Particular Problem/Bug has been reported.Doesn't need another user to report it.(Duplicating post)
[*]Give Proper Report
Give A Report Such As This
What steps/instruction did you used?
Did you try wipe & cache
Did you tried it more then twice?
What kernel you are running on?
Which version of build you are having problem with
Do Explain the problem clearly. If you have random reboot upon selecting theme manager,
do report that it's due to the theme manager not just saying "I have random reboot"
If possible provide a screenshot
Do provide an adb logcat (everyone on this forum should have at least logcat skill)
This is one of the best answer for the dev/op to fix if you unable to describe all the problem
[*]Do not ask or force the OP/Developers to fix the problem
No matter what problem you are having,no words such as "Please" fix the problem
Developers have their own time, they choose to fix what they want,You don't pay for what you download
[*]Take your third party installation problem away
Let say you have installed a third party mod (Ex: Beats Audio) ,if you encounter any problem please post on the beats audio thread instead
If You having problem by supercharging or installing any third party patch do take to the particular thread or keep it on your own.
[*]Stop Asking Whether Will This Work Or Not
 Please try it yourself or see over comment by user.
If you want to know just install and test it yourself
If you afraid bricking then never go near a development thread. There's always a Risk
[*]Press thanks button to user/devs that helped you
[*]Provide logcats whenever possible
Dmesg & Logcat using simple terminal emulator
Code:
su
dmesg >/mnt/sdcard/dmesg.txt
logcat -d -v time >/mnt/sdcard/logcat.txt
Hope This Clear Enough For All User To Report Problem On What they encounter.
As developer a positive bug report are very useful to us to fix all the problem that we might not noticed

very nice and helpful thread.
Thank you very much for this. I couldn't agree more with No.6. If it's not too much to ask, could you include a No. 12 ? 12. Provide logcats whenever possible. Logcats are like maps to help devs where to pin point the EXACT bug. If not, devs will be just as lost as you on the cause of the bug.

Concept - Taging
I was also thinking that we could have some structure to the threads being placed in the forums, making it easier to figure out what is a development, an announcement, a ROM ETC...
Open to suggestions, but thinking like this?

[THEME]
[ANNOUN]
[KERNEL]
[INFO] - Thanks TheCougar

I think you get the idea, if you see any more, Post
N00b Crushing defence guide
Welcome to the N00b Crushing defence guide.
Things you will need:
To know the rules (Here) - You will not be tested at random
And to use PROPER ENGLISH
Things I don't like:
Spam posts in ROM Dev, IE, Q's
Posting in wrong sections (Unless you ask (In proper English) to have it moved)
Asking for ROM Dev posting permissions from me, or any other Mod to press a magic button and fix it, as we don't have a magic button (Or one that lets you post in ROM Dev )
Posting a Q without the Q tag (Worse than posting a Q in ROM Dev, or is it ) - See illustration
Posting in bad English - See illustration
Patience, not everyone is online at the same time

Good luck, and I hope this helps all relevant
Please don't add a Q and A forum like on some others, it gets to
All general forums are basically Q and A anyway so why add another one
Good point, would also make it easier if all threads were tagged, as to differ Announcements ETC...
Heh reference thread seems to be closed so I'll post in here.
As all the other forums seem to end up with 16 trillion stickies it sounds like you're on the ball with what you've said about keeping them to a minimum. Simple info that directs people to relevant threads. Doesn't give people an excuse not to read it then, so you can happily ban them.
Is there going to be a wiki section for the eee pad? Might be good to link that in somehow if there is.

Well I've got a few threads up and running now (shameful self plug), that might be useful for your main reference thread.
Compatible apps and games list here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032381
A 'Tips and Tricks' thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033811
I've tried to combine tips mentioned by users throughout the threads. Software as well as hardware tips.
And a firmware changelog info thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041502
It seems there may be different firmware releases for different countries from now on, but I'll try and keep the info up to date.
I'm not one for stickies and such, but I do believe this thread should be stickied or referenced since I've seen quite a few posts about it on the forum.
Also it's a vital part of how the tablet works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062731
I've trawled the forum and compiled a roundup of all the stuff that may be useful for people to read. It's HERE. Would be great if it was stickied, or merged into the reference sticky. Cheers.

Guys, this is turning into a question thread, I have deleted all the OT posts.
Please stay On Topic!
Thanks guys
Badwolve1
This isnt a question.. but a request from everyone. Didnt feel it needed a new thread so posting in here:
We need more FAQ's and guides written people! The dev section of the forum is packed with lots of useful info but it's very fragmented, and most of the threads labeled 'guide' just lead you to a url (other sites go down all the time). So if anyone can please write a few guides, it would be fantastic.
A list of things we really need proper guides for:
Root/Unroot
ADB
ClockWorkMod Recovery
Disassembly
Rom cooking
Kitchens
Flashing custom boot screen
Roms/Builds
Themes/UI customisation
Again, please don't go OT in this thread. This is a suggestions thread.
Thanks
Badwolve1
NVflash recovery should be added here
Awesome thread, thanks!
This thread is posted my me keeping in mind questions posted by most people here. This is currently not final post, I will keep editing it with loads of information. Currently you can ask here questions here. You will get them solved them by many. Please dont post new threads. If your problem is already answered in FAQ dont ask again. Keep the forum clean. Dont post threads at all from now. Here also you will get same amount of attention on your question.
Note: If you want to answers someone question simply quote his question and post reply with answer. Please kindly look at previous post so that no question is but in depth due to other questions.
If you can answer someone's question please help him/her.
ROOT-
About ROOTING or SUPERUSER-
If you are new here probably ROOT or SU(Superuser) might be a word you are quite unfamiliar with. Probably you would not be able to guess the purpose of ROOTING. But when you are here just don't have any fear. This thread will help you for sure. After reading this you would be knowing what rooting is, the perks, the disadvantages and how to root.

Rooting in simple words is attaining of root privileges on Linux family OS including our Android Platform. Root privileges are very similar to WINDOWS Administrator. By rooting your phone you can overcome the restrictions imposed upon your device by manufacturers. After Rooting your phone you can simply Modify your whole device at your will. You could even install Custom ROMs. There are loads of benefit of Rooting. We will see few of them here.
The Perks of ROOTING-
1. You can boost your device performance by Overclocking. Please see you need a overclock support kernel.
2.If you are on Android 2.1 or less and want to use your phone as Wi-Fi hotspot you can do so by using apps as Wireless Tether for Root Users. These apps require root permission. Also you can use them if you are unhappy with Android 2.2+ native hotspot capability like lack of Bluetooth hotspoting, no WEP etc.
3. INTERNAL MEMORY FULL? Root and use App2Sd to save internal space and use SD card to install apps.
4.Root to browse and modify system files, delete them and more. Also you can get extra space by deleting unwanted apps.
5. Phone has no Live Wallpaper support by default? Enable it by rooting and copying files. You need supported files for your device.
6.Bored of same UI? Change Lib and Framework files to get a new interface,
7...........
8..........
and many more.
The Disadvantages-
1.Potential Threat of Data and Identity theft by programs having SU (Superuser or Root) access.
2. Voided Warranty.
3. You may brick or damage your phone.
Is it LEGAL?
On July 26, 2010, the U.S. Copyright office announced a new exemption making it officially legal to root a device and run unauthorized third-party applications, as well as the ability to unlock any cell phone for use on multiple carriers.
Should I root?
I cant say about this. It depends on you and your use. But in my opinion here on XDA rooting is somewhat you should surely have. If you use a Custom ROM you are already rooted. Depends on you to take risks, neglect warranty that has already expired or nearing its end soon and then enjoy the Android ROM to fullest. Please see no one is responsible if you brick your phone. So are you going to root?
How to ROOT-
1. Download SuperOne Click from HERE!
2. Go to Settings>Application>Development and switch on USB Debugging ON!
3. Switch off you phone
4. Fire Up SuperOneClick
5.Connect your phone via USB and Click ROOT on SuperOne Click window
6. When it says Waiting for Device switch one your phone
7. Wait and it will root your phone and install SU
ok, let me say that i appreciate your effort to minimise useless threads here in xda, BUT the truth is that your making useless threads yourself :/ first you make QnA then you publish another useless Q thread (and you said in your first QnA thread that ask questions here) and then you post another QnA.... So what does this thread serve for? And for last, i really do appreciate your effort but still :/

Sorry but actually this is for noobs. I was upset to see people asking how to root, cant root etc so I dedicated a thread for them so that they could ask it here. Also many new members are not having that much knowledge, they dont know what even root, flash is so this is for them. Still if you feel it worthless. Please Mod you can delete it. And again sorry. Sorry for my mistake.

I had it too. Probally i found a problem fix...
First try fix permission and check logs after that... (To see whats changed or it just was succesfull. If not reboot yours rom to recovery mode option what will allow recovery work in right rom)
If not fixed there you got "2" way whay I used:
I was using 2 systems (nand and directsd)
Have you got stable and fast nand rom with rom manager and avast? Run like 3 or more times fix permission (until all or most errors fixed don't need resets) then make full check though antivirus (founded virus on second scan planned with all possible options checked scan applicateka - trojan?). From that time no problems with media... Strange but i made it

Strange but i made it

i actually changed out the mediaprovider.apk from a newer 442 rom and i dont seem to have that error anymore
I have added the Ouya to supported devices to my app - Infamous Performance. Now you don't need to connect to a computer to install a custom recovery. You have to be rooted already! Download app (here or Playstore Link then downolad the recovery.img from here or any other thread (i just renamed OuyaCWMrecovery6.0.3.2.img to recovery.img so the app will find it.) Place recovery on the internal SD (ouya storage) Install the app then scroll to tools. Click on flash recovery then navigate to your recovery.img. and install. It will install and reboot into recovery. Make sure you have a keyboard plugged in before it reboots or you won't be able to navigate in recovery. Last when you reboot out of recovery make sure to disable recovery install (it will ask you to.) Thanks to all the developers who have worked on this device, I always appreciate everyone's hard work. I am kind of retired so I won't be starting any projects on this device. Enjoy!

All I ask is if you enjoyed the app to please 5 star it and possible leave a comment. Thanks guys!
Looking forward to trying this, I have never completed all the tweaking necessary to customize my OUYA and make it run smoothly. I keep finding old information around the net which makes it difficult, lot of outdated stuff. Thanks!
Not supported?
Hi
The app looks great! I got it to run but when I click the recovery field it says my device is not supported.
I'm currently running stock Ouya OS chupacabra with the current update.
Any ideas on what to do next to get'er running to install CWM recovery?
Thanks
Hmm. I'll have to look at the build.prop for your model. I thought I covered them all. Can you get me a screen shot of what exactly it says? Thanks man.

Got the screen shot uploaded. It's attached and not posted in full screen on the thread.
Also, I'm using the apk on this thread and not the one from the play store.

Hey Jamison, I attached the screen shot of what I'm getting.
I installed it the app from the playstore.
If you can fix it, I'll gladly donate.

Jamison hasn't responded but just gotta be patient, Jamison's probably busy with life stuff of trying to update the app for the Ouya or other Android activity he's involved in.
Am I the only one that got it installed?
Thought I would just update this post instead of posting another. Question for anyone and please keep in mind I am fairly new to Android:
What is supposed to happen when you select 'Override Internal SD Path'?
Should it prompt you for something or does it just do it? I did quite a few searches and came up empty. I know it's probably self explanatory to many but not I. I am finally getting around to testing the functionality of this tool but probably not the best person for it given my limited knowledge at this point. It seems to be working on my Ouya.
I originally posted this becaus I was wondering if anyone has gotten this installed on an Ouya other than I. I came to the Ouya game really late, my primary reason for purchasing it was XBMC and to dive a little deeper into Android. While I have certainly not tested each function available in this tool I was able to get it installed without a problem and the cache cleaner appears to work. I am by no means skilled in the Android OS so there are lots of things I am still learning, not sure I would be able to tell if some of the functions work as I don't understand what they are supposed to do. I love to tweak/tinker, think that's probably common across most of the folks that visit the forums. Between running XBMC on the bedroom tv and having a little platform to play around with Android the Ouya was well worth the $50. I am on a Stock Ouya (rooted) and I used the apk that was attached to this thread, not the one from the Play Store. Just wish everything wasn't so out of date, I always get a little nervous about installing something that hasn't even been discussed in 8 - 12 months. This tool being an exception, thank you Jamison and hoping you continue to develop for these little boxes but fully understand why it would be hard to justify.

I posted a comment asking about a function within the app but have since answered my own questions. I still wonder:
1). Is this wofking for anyone else on an Ouya?
2). Is it somehow 'defunct' at this point or will it be further developed?
Regardless, appreciate the effort Jamison.

I have used it on two Ouya's myself and it worked. What issue are you having? Thanks and sorry for the delay
Which other devices are supported to install recovery or kernels? I'm on htc one x.
I think I have those already. Is that the M7 or M8? I can add devices pretty easily
Doesn't install recovery nor kernels on my one x from your app
Yes. This is because I have to add support for each device. If still interested I can add it
