Hi all,
is there any way to remove bootanimation on stock Nexus S 4.1.1 with AirKernel? I´d like to see what´s happening during bootanimation..
Something like on older PCs or in some Linux distros. I know there are lots of BIOS-like animations, but it isn´t what I want..
Something like:
Kernel start..
Checking sensors..
Backlight check..
Starting system... etc.
I think You know what I mean..
Thank You
Just use root explorer to delete file bootanimation.zip in /system/media.

Sorry guys if this is a stupid question I am a total newbie to android I am on stock 4.2.1 is it possible to just install the Franco kernel and to do this I would have to
Unlock boot loader
Root the phone
Install custom recovery and then flash the kernel am I right guys
Thanks in advance for your help

Yup although rooting isn't 100% necessary but it is highly recommended. Also rooting comes after flashing the custom recovery since you need that in order to root.

I'm new to Android as well. This link helped me out a LOT:
http://www.addictivetips.com/android/root-google-nexus-4-install-clockworkmod-recovery/
Once you're rooted and have CWM installed, it's as simple as downloading the kernel (I recommend franco) and then go into recovery mode, install zip from sdcard, and viola you are done!

Also remember when you unlock the bootloader its going to wipe out your phone

I've copied it to the /system/media. Also i made a backup. I set the permissions to r-w-r- r on both files. But the boot animation does not show, it shows the stock one

Samsung builds it into the kernel, theres no bootanimation.zip file on 100% stock roms (aka that system dump)

I'd suggest searching for how to convert those files or integrate them into your kernel/boot.img)

Yes!! Dude!! I m using decepticon (bootanimation) and cm's music as poweron music with this process and its work too!!
1) Install bootanimation.
2) Save sound file as poweron.ogg
3) Open root explorer, go to /system/etc/, mount r/w and replace/copy your sound file.

I hate the aosp touch sounds. On my s3, s4, and now n5 I've always replaced them for blackberry storm click sounds. Enjoy
Blackberry Storm click touch sounds.
Download
Instructions
DO NOT FLASH
Use a root file explorer
Extract zip
Go to /system/media
BACKUP ORIGINAL UI SOUNDS
*Select UI folder and Copy it
*Move copy to root of SD card
Go to your new extracted files
Copy and paste them to /system/media/ui
Replace existing files.
Change permissions of your new sounds to rw,r,r
Reboot
Enjoy
If you don't like it, just replace your ui folder with the backed up one.
Edit:
Flashable zip

Sorry about the title i was confused on what to put
So my tablet is rooted and i have modified some files on an app which you have to be rooted to modify. All i want to know is if it is possible to transfer the app onto my phone which is not rooted. i was thinking maybe there is a way to make the app back into an apk with the modified files buy im confused on how i would do that.
You won't be able to as you would need root permissions
