i live in NJ and like most people i just wanna get a cheap plan with unlimited data i hardly talk i just text and use the internet etc..
1 what is the cheapest plan that tmobile offer with the galaxy note 2 and does any body know how much will is the retail price of the galaxy note 2.
i wish they will bring it out b4 black friday
I thought about going to T-mobile, until I saw most of their coverage is 2g. So I'll be sticking with my unlimited AT&T plan.

If you get it on T-Mobile, you can use it with whichever plan you want. T-Mobile doesn't care where you buy the phone or that you don't have a "data-plan". To get it subsidized though, you'd need to get a classic plan which will cost more than their value plans (I'd personally buy the phone at retail price and then go on their value plan)

I spend 99% of my time in metropolitan areas (Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay and Seattle), so for me all 4 carriers have 4G wherever it matters. However, I could see why one would choose another carrier over T-Mobile as in less populated areas they do lack coverage (but they are cheaper, ie. if I were on Verizon, my plan would be double what it is now)

You can get it for a down payment and $20 per month while on a value plan. It still turns out cheaper than a subsidized one on a classic plan in the long run.

Value plan is just a 2 year contract plan without any free phone. If you want a phone, you can pay a down payment and $20 over the next 24 months or pay off the $480 all at one with the down payment (as said below, but the down payment varies per phone so... ymmv). I plan on buying mines outright for probably $650 + tax

The price of the phone + value plan is cheaper than the price of the phone + classic plan true, but that's because the classic plan costs more than the cost of the phone over 24 months. (although if you can get retentions and get some discounts, it could possibly be even or save you a bit on classic if you have multiple lines with data, etc)

Yep, or you can get on the contract price, although in the magenta day deals, you could get a SGS3 for $400 with a new value plan since they gave you a rebate for the down payment and you only needed to pay $20 over $20 month, but that's over now.
Here's my $.02. I am buying the Note II unlocked, probably for around $500 (I always get my phones from Craigslist cause I can get the best deal). I use T-Mobile's $30 Walmart plan (no contract of course). It gives me 100 minutes, unlimited text/mms and Unlimited (i.e. 5GB) of 4G (I live in NYC and consistently get ~14 Mbps down, ~3 Mbps up). That is perfect for me, because I hardly talk on the phone.
So you might want to consider that plan if you can swing not talking that much. I think you said you live in Jersey, so you shouldn't have any problem getting good 4G speeds there. I spend a lot of time in Newark and I never have any problems with T-mos network there.

I dunno, for $150 more I'd go with an actual warranty + less risk of a blocked IMEI (people buy phones on contract just to sell it then they never pay their bills, so your phone might work for a month or two, but then T-Mobile will block the IMEI rendering the phone useless).
I mean if you're going to spend this much on a phone... why not buy it new anyways. Not that I'm against buying from Craigslist, I've gotten all my previous phones off Craigslist, N900, myTouch 4G Slide, G2x, Sensation, etc. It's just that those phones cost ~$200-$300 so the risk was lower than $500...

Yeah, if you are covered and don't travel, at all, T-Mobile is fine. But I think that I'd really want at least 3g while traveling, whether it's from cincinnati to chicago or from cin to montreal, i'd like my data. I do I could go to T-mobile, atm I have no signal in my apartment...hoping this phone will have it though.

I never knew about the IMEI blocking issue. I have been buying phones on CL for years without having any problems. I guess I was lucky. I think i'll still get mine from there, but i'll be more cautious and make sure I meet in a T-Mobile store so they can tell me which plan they have and if the phone could possibly be blocked in the future.

Any phone can be blocked sadly, and even if you meet in a T-Mobile store to check out the IMEI, if the person doesn't pay their plan etc, then it could be blocked in the future. It's never happened to me, but it usually happens when the phone is new (so the person can make a quick sell for as much money as possible). I guess just use your best judgement, maybe ask them why they're selling the phone, no pain no gain right?

As for the OP, have you made any progress in deciding which carrier to go with? I have realized lately (since I broke my phone and haven't had one for about two weeks now) that I could really get by with just a data only plan. I only use like 20 minutes per month and use Google Voice for all of my texts, which is how I communicate mostly anyway. I wonder why there aren't any data only plans yet.

You sound like the perfect candidate for the $30 pre-paid plan from T-Mobile that gives you 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and unlimited data (throttle to EDGE after 5GB).

OK, I have Verizon and I use just over 2 gigs a month so my question is... Does Verizon throttle like T-Mobile after 5 Gigs ? I never noticed that issue yet. And, BTW, Anyone here use straight talk with the verizon hook-up ? I might look into that deal.

3G devices sort off. 4G devices no(block C rules). That's if you have unlimited. Thought June 29, 2014 could be the end of all Verizon unlimited plans.

As far as i know, no. Verizon has tiered data plans so once you hit 2GB. They shut off your data for the rest of the month, then I think you can buy liek 1GB for like $15 or something (not sure). Same for AT&T only T-Mobile has this type of "unlimited" data plan where you technically get unlimited data, but the 4G data is limited to 2GB/5GB. Or you can always pay $20 on a value plan for unlimited data 4G data or $30 on a classic plan for the same unlimited data (tmobile of course).
If I am getting the Note II (which depends especially on the presence of Paranoid Android), it will be the GT-N7100 for sure. I don't want any kind of carrier branding or any interference by such a company - if there is a problem I prefer to deal directly with the manufacturer.
Since I am using Straight Talk with my N7000 I will just cut the SIM to micro size and move over.
I don't have any interest in a carrier branded Note II, it should be completely unlocked and clean. My experience with branding is very negative and that basically eliminate the US versions completely (since the only choice is between bloatware and bloatware or between being vendor locked-in with CDMA or following a more open approach with GSM/UMTS/LTE but with bloatware).
It is unfortunate that the N7100 seems to lack pentaband, otherwise T-Mobiles prepaid plan could be interesting. I am not going to get a T-Mobile branded device just in order to use that plan (and pay an elevated "full retail" price, that's for sure.
If I finally decides to get the N7100, I will try to buy a 32 GB or 64 GB version when I visit Sweden.
Perhaps the N7105 if it is available can be on my list - I can then use LTE when I visit Europe. I am not interested in US LTE at all since I don't see any reason to pay $100 per month for a contract with horrible 2 GB of data when I know that Swedish carriers offers 10 GB for $50. Yes, that's right. 10 GB of data and 3000 free texts - and you can use the $50 for calls.
The whole contract ends at $50. No taxes and fees on top of that. Just $50 including the 3000 texts, 10 GB of data and the minute rate means approximately 1000-1200 minutes included. Compare it with the US contracts........
This mean that I find the US prices totally unacceptable to me - LTE with 2 GB of data is what I consider pathetic. Useless simply put. It is like having a car that offers a normal speed of 150 mph with a range of 10 miles. Nice to run quickly for 10 miles but still completely useless.
LTE is normally for streaming etc and 2 GB is simply inadequate. 10 GB of data on a US carrier is horrendous. Verizon charges $100 for it plus $40 for the smartphone. Excluding taxes and fees. That is approximately 3 times more expensive.
It is funny to see the carriers promote Netflix - I don't dare to think about the cost for streaming 10 full-length movies in SD quality - even less HD quality.
So my interest for having LTE in the US is absolutely zero as long as the prices for data is outrageous.
Getting the N7100 and put Straight Talk or Net10 (they offers BYOD now) is a no-brainer to me.
Edit: A question to those that mention LTE as an important factor in the US:
What are you doing with the device? Are you streaming videos from Netflix? Spotify in high quality?
I used the Verizon data calculator and put in normal multimedia use of those services paired with web browsing, uploading of pictures with Dropbox etc: 30 GB. That's right. 30 GB per month for LTE-optimized use.
I don't see any reason to pay premium for LTE when the data caps and limits are so low that proper use is blocked.

I am extremely excited for friday to come around so I can get the EVO, that being said I have been on here alot today, and have watched alot of youtube videos.

If I keep my Touch Pro 2 I don't have to pay this surcharge.... if I buy this new phone that they want people to buy it will cost me an extra $120 per year for the same service i'm already getting. Most I've burned through is about 10 GB's per month under my current "unlimited" plan and never been charged extra.

My point is this.... I can keep my current phone (hd 2 nice but I'm sick of winmo) and not pay the $10/month surcharge. So when I buy a new phone out of contract I am paying Sprint an extra 120/year FOR NOTHING. THEY ARE DOING NOTHING MORE FOR ME NEXT MONTH THEN THEY ARE DOING FOR ME TODAY YET I AM PAYING THEM MORE.

List me all of the features you have on your plan, (how many lines, what phones, and what plans you have)
And I guarentee it will be cheaper on Sprint. Than on AT&T and verizon or tmobile.
You will consider leaving sprint after 9 years and paying an ETF, but actually figuring out the costs and features you get on sprint v. the other carriers is unquestionable, correct?
Please list your features, untill you do that and show everyone how the other carriers are cheaper, you don't have a fair point.

The only way to compare is to have unlimited ANY MOBILE calling... AT&T doesn't have this option, so you'd have to put on unlimited calling.
You also need to add corporate messaging/etc, because Sprint has all that included. Yes, not everyone needs that, but for those who do, it adds up.
Also, you must add unlimited route navigation.
I think you get the idea. It's hard to do a pure apples-to-apples comparison, but even when you get close, it's drastically more expensive on AT&T.

$10 a month. Putting that into perspective, that's one time out in a Thai restaurant. IMHO I can live without thai food for a day and just put those $10 toward Evo which I will use EVERY DAY of the month... can't complain here

As you can see the Sprint has no caps on data like the other two. So how can one really complain about the pricing. It's a BIG difference and to have all these people and mags complain about $10.00 is a JOKE!
I hope to be happy with my Sprint Service. I don't like change often but I am willing to make the leap.
What your not considering is what if you DON'T NEED unlimited voice minutes? It's great that Sprint is cheaper when comparing unlimited plans, but I for one, only use 200-400 mins a month total between 2 lines. So a 550 family plan with AT&T is just fine, I don't need unlimited with Sprint or even the 1500 minutes there giving us with the Evo's. I would rather pay Sprint less, since I will be using less. But they force you into a Everything plan for smartphones.
All carriers have their ups and downs.
AT&T has the fastest 3g network, but poor coverage/prices
Verizon has the largest 3g network, but poor prices
Tmobile has...umm..good prices
Sprint has good network, good prices, poor phone choices.
With Sprints Evo tax, we save ~10.00 dollars a month switching from AT&T with our current 2 x 3gs's. That is not a lot of money to save, especially since AT&T's data speeds are about twice as fast as Sprints in this area. So the Evo tax is a big deal. We have a pre-order in, I am extremely excited, we will test them out, and if we both like them, we will switch. But if they disappoint like the Pre's did, then they go back and we will keep our iphones.
Now if Sprint didn't charge the Evo tax, we would save 30.00 a month. With that kind of savings, we could accept a few snags here and there and would for sure dump AT&T.

I believe that is correct, a GSM version that supports AT&T/TMobile has already passed the FCC. I feel certain it will be offered officially by Google, but if not, Negri and other outlets will most certainly have it.

The T-Mo non-contact deals are around $20 less per month than the contract ones. That's $480 over 2 years...
I'm wondering if its smart to get a tmobile phone as the carrier might disappear in a short time. Either by att buying them and our 3g bands becoming useless (would you really want to have a nexus that's 2g capable only? ) or by implosion. Also those us us lucky enough to still be on the 10 dollars a month data plan....I don't know it I can justify having to pay $240 more for data every year...

It's not going to just disappear. It will work just as always, and you will be grandfathered in on your plan.
Trying to decide if I should stay with T-mobile
I'm trying to decide if I should switch to the $49/month family plan.
I would save money, but I don't want to commit to T-mobile until the plans for the Galaxy Nexus are announced.
Is Google going to have a US launch for this Device or is a Carrier? Or both.
I am really annoyed at Google for launching the Nexus phone, but not in America.
I might just stay with the Nexus One and not upgrade the phone for another year, it works great.
$49.99 a month, but you're restricted to 200MB of data per month LOL.

Not correct. If you obtain a T-Mobile branded phone, a newer android for instance, T-Mobile will make you upgrade to their new android data plan, no matter where you got it from. This is true for the old t-zones data plan and their web2go plans. So an international version, or an ATT version with tmob frequencies, would be more ideal.
There's a list of allowed phones over on the howardforums... Search for t-zones grandfathered plan.
I'm actually hoping T-Mobile doesn't sell these directly, because any imei of a phone they sell will be logged, and these two specific old data plans won't apply. But those of us with these old data plans are pretty rare.

That is exactly what I did. I paid the full $529 for the N1. With the $20/month savings = $480. The difference between the contract price of the phone $200 and full price = $329. Taking the $480 savings over the 2 years, subtract from $329 and I saved $151. Buying the phone full price was a better value than buying it with a contract. I know it seems like a lot at first but it saves money in the long run.

Now here's a twist that I did with my wife's phone...
Buy phone on contract for $200. Cancel the contract and pay the $200 ETF. You then pay $400 total for the phone instead of $530, and still get the $480 savings over 2 years... xD

Just curious to see how many have pre ordered and if you are moving from an international to the ATT version.
I have not preordered, but I am interested in the ATT version due to prevalent LTE where I live. I will wait to see all of the reviews and user feedback before getting one. I will most likely keep my current GNote since it gets updates from DBT and HSPA+ and battery life are great. I have a skyrocket that I will sell if I get the LTE version.
I did see a list of the apps that will be loaded on the ATT version and it is nice to have a version without all the bloat!

I live in Europe, and I just get HSPA+ so I can't comment about it, but do you guys really tether THAT much to require those kinds of speeds? :S Don't get me wrong, the faster the better, but I paid 535 euros for my unlocked device. I don't think I could shove out any more money for the same model with a different radio and minus a hardware button.

I do not tether at all personally. I have a Verizon LTE myfi for my work laptop. LTE is quite prevalent hometown (Dallas- Fort Worth) and in my Homestate of Texas where most larger cites have it. I have an unlimited LTE plan and have a skyrocket. I love my International GNote and will keep this one and probably sell my skyrocket. LTE is quite fast (20-60 mbps) and if I am going to use the GNote as my full time phone, I want LTE. I video call with my children when traveling in Texas without having to rely on the hotel wifi or hooking up my work wifi. If I want to stream netflix I do it over wifi, since I do not want to hog the bandwidth.
Keep in mind this is my plan which is based on the LTE version here having stellar reviews. As far as the cost, I do not have many others hobbies since I have young kids and a wife lol! My wife is understanding of my phone & watch addictions. Besides, if she is really good, she may get my International GNote to try out!
There is a att note forum now. Go look there for all the preorders threads. There are plenty.

I'd hate to lock in a contract only to have ATT breathing down my neck if I actually use LTE. Surely flying past 2 gigs would be very easy at those speeds. No thanks.

2 gigs? In DFW, I think the LTE texts start at around 5 gigs. 2 gigs would suck. That is not hard to do at all on hspa+ Seems wifi is everywhere where I live. I do agree the gigs can fly by faster on LTE. I have considered the new 5 gig plan with tethering but 50 bucks...

Oh helllllll no!!! LTE without unlimited access (and by unlimited, I mean truly unlimited; no throttling) is a joke! Forget about it! I'm not interested! Plus, supposedly I was throttled over my last billing period, and honestly, I didn't even notice it. Was still getting ~3mbit on HSPA+, which is plenty fine for most stuff anyway. Burned through about 6gigs of data last period. No tethering either.
Plus Exynos is a beast. Seriously...

Exactly what I plan to do. I have two grandfathered unlimited lines on VZW. So I'm going to do the Straighttalk $45 no contract deal and just wifi my Note from my hotspot off my RAZR. Just trying to decide if I want to buy a white Note or black Note.

Sounds like a good plan to me! I would avoid the AT&T version though, seriously. AT&T are a bunch of d!ck$ when it comes to unlocking their devices, using them in ways they didn't intend, and oh yeah, they still put Carrier IQ on their stuff AFAIK, so the AT&T Note will likely have that too. Not to mention, the discounted price only applies for a renewed 2-year agreement anyway, so you're either locked into that for another 2 years, or you're stuck with an ETF. Either way, they're gonna recoup the cost one way or another. Being that as the case, you're really just better off importing another unlocked Note and going pay-as-you-go on that $45 plan from Straight Talk

I always get a kick out of your posts! The Verizon Mifi is through a corporate account so I do not know if it is unlimited. I do plan to keep my International Note! I have a skyrocket as my primary phone (I swap SIM's every week or so) I love my GNote and figure I can sell the skyrocket and get the LTE GNote. I do not want to give up my International with all the aspects of having unlocked and updates. I also just love the LTE Network and figure I will love it more with a GNote!

Once people say this about buying unlocked "But remember, the carrier will recoup the cost of selling you a discounted device over the term of your service agreement, so you're gonna pay some way or another anyhow. " I stop reading because it makes no sense.
How does ATT recoup the cost of selling me a diiscounted device over the 2 years? I have a couple options...
A) Buy a phone for $299, and then for the next 24 months pay for my Family Plan including 550 minutes, Unlimited Text and Unlimited Data for both lines, after corporate discount, I pay roughly $135/month, or $3240 for the plan + $299 for the phone, a total of $3539
B) Buy an unlocked phone for $699, and then for the next 24 months STILL pay for my Family Plan including 550 minutes, Unlimited Text and Unlimited Data for both lines, plan totalling $3240 over the 2 years, and the phone being $699, so a total of $3939
In the end, who paid $400 MORE over the course of two years? You did. You said it yourself, especially in the US, what am I supposed to do, switch to T-Mobile and deal with a) crappy service in my area and b) different radio frequencies potentially limiting my data speeds? Goto a regional carrier with again, crappy service in my area?
When you say it's ALWAYS better to buy unlocked, you're plain wrong. As much as you don't want to hear it, you bought your 7.7 Tab from AT&T, and agreed to the Terms of User when you signed the contract, if you didn't think it was fair at the time, you shouldn't have entered the contract, simple as that. It may work out for you to buy International, but you can't make that blanket statement for everyone.

Or you can spend $50/month for unlimited everything on a pay-as-you-go plan and save yourself $2040 over the course of 2 years for one device. If your family plan has two lines on it (judging by your monthly cost), and say you bought two unlocked Note's, (So, $100/month x 24 months = $2400 + 2 Note's @ $700 each, brings you up to a total of $3800 over 2 years) you're still saving about $140, plus you're getting all the added benefits of owning an unlocked device, as described in my article. Also, this assumes you never sell your Note when you get tired of it and want to upgrade. You can further reduce the long-term cost by selling your device when you want to move on. Nearly two years after I got my old Galaxy S, I was still able to sell it for about $300 and some change.

Beyond Virgin Mobile, you have, in my opinion, one of the best deals around: Straight Talk's Bring Your Own Phone program. You can get a sim card for either AT&T's or T-Mobile's network and simply put it into any phone you like. $45/month = unlimited everything + no contracts. I am using their AT&T sim right now in my galaxy nexus and have so far been really impressed at their service.

But there is one thing that I always have a glitch in mind though, that is the "unlimited data" advertised by ST or the alike, is it REALLY unlimited data like one tied to contract? or just a so-called MOBILE WEB, which is NOT 100% like we expect?

- Are you sure? I use ST and I roam on T-mobile when I don't have AT&T coverage
- I agree completely. They do with cdma phones. GSM, however, makes it very difficult to limit what phones your prepaid customers use

I also can do whatever I want when I need to do it, including switching phones and/or providers at no cost, and yet I pay a fraction of what you pay for otherwise identical service.
The postpaid pricing model just perplexes me. Prepaid should be more expensive because of the flexibility, yet it's that flexibility to switch that keeps prices competitive. Postpaid, on the other hand, gets to charge whatever it wants for service.

Ok got that off my brain, now I have been "throttled" at 7.5GB. Verizon this meens war, with ICBMS or in my case the FCC, the BBB and when I can make a good set of videos the NEWS.
I am uploading my proof now and I had used 72GB with AT&T still could get 4-8 times more speed.
Verizon I played with the ball in your court, now you will be playing in mine and your not going to like it.
Point: Verizon you suck and you HAVE TO BE M.A.D to join them now. there 4G is garbage
moving on to pre paid: I am trying to get my dad to use ST , but really it would cost a bit more, becuase he use's Pre-paid allready. LOL
I can vouch for ST, fantastic service at a fair price.

In fact, "service" departments associated with TracFone wireless (ie: TracFone, Net10, SafeLink, StraightTalk) are complete garbage. I used to sell lots of their prepaids and it was all nice and cheap till you need to contact them. Hopefully their IVR can help you because if you are transferred to a live representative, may god help you, because TracFoney won't.
That's why I have a contract, oh and insurance.

Also, I have recently read horror stories about people getting kicked off of ST with no warning because they exceeded their monthly data limit. Not having a contract means you can leave any time, but also means your provider can change the rules or kick you out at any time. Apparently there are people on Verizon grandfathered into old unlimited data plans who use 70+ gb per month and have no repercussions. That's epic: D

I have BOTH postpaid (family plan) contract service and THREE prepaid accts. (Two with T-Mobile and one with RedPocket)
I still prefer the customer service and the account level detail (online) with postpaid....

I am paying less for my plan and my phone than the no contract folks over the duration of my contract. I just know how to talk to the workers for deals, and discounts.

Actually, if you were on prepaid through even Verizon ($50/month), you'd have unlimited everything. However, were you to switch to Virgin Mobile, you would only pay $70 for 2 lines, however you would get 600 minutes/month, which is probably still more than enough for 2 people.

I didn't sign it. Hubby did while I was out of town so he could get his shiny new iPhone 4S even after I had spent literally hours on the phone with AT&T arguing over the PDA Connect Unlimited feature I had grandfathered on my Atrix. 6 months after I purchased the Atrix & Lapdock and had merrily been tethering & docking with absolutely no problems--AT&T decided they weren't going to honor my PDA Connect Unlimited feature any more and I absolutely must "upgrade" to their 4G data plans. WTF? Why wait until I'm 6 months into a contract to change it? And their excuse was that my now 6 months old Atrix wasn't "compatible" with my current data plan. Really? It works fine for me. Long story, short--they agreed to credit me for the remaining 18 months of my PDA Connect Unlimited feature & I agreed not to tether any more. Customer service is a concern? This is the same company that way back in the day actually told me that Free Call Forwarding doesn't mean we won't charge you for it--it just means you can do it all you want. Also the same company that tried to tell me that I absolutely had to upgrade my old Nokia (Charlie's Angels phone) to a GAIT phone because it was going to stop working. How long did those GAIT phones last? Not nearly as long as my Nokia. I can't speak for the other big US cell carriers but AT&T has the absolute worst customer service reps on the phone and franchise stores. The company store reps are much better but only enough to fix whatever the dingbats in corporate broke or tried to screw me out of. On June 24th--the first iPhone is going to Straight Talk. In November the second iPhone is going to whomever is the best deal at the time. Next year in May--the remaining iPhone and my Atrix will kiss AT&T good bye forever! As for insurance--try Square Trade or Service Net or better yet--look at the freaking deductible AT&T is charging on cell phones. For my Atrix, they wanted to charge me $6 per month and should anything happen to my phone--I would have to pay $150 deductible. I bought the phone refurb for $99. Are they crazy? At one point--they wouldn't even offer insurance on smart phones.
Sorry to hear about that. There's a reason why major carriers are so much more profitable than small prepaid ones.

I agree. Actually there are some good prepaid deals for just talk and text too. Smart Talk is 35. My smartphone plan is only 30 and if I used Sipdroid for talk over data I could have unlimited talk too but I only get EDGE until T-Mobile refarms 1900 HSPA in Wichita but there are some good deals if you just look around.

Went in to a T-Mobile store yesterday to see if they had any S3's, and while looking at the display model, it said it was $279, or $229 if on the value plan. What is the value plan, and whats different between it and the standard family plan? Also, you MUST take the 5GB data plan? They had 2 employees working and about 5 people in line, so after ab out 10 minutes I left, questions unanswered.
The price is to make up the fact that you could save more with them. A value plan is when you start out a contract with a phone that you either have or bought full price. At the end, you end up saving even more than classic. You could find better deals at Wally world or Costco and they won't even make you upgrade your plan

With the value plan, you end up paying FULL price for the phone but they basically give it to you on credit and interest free. They add an extra 20 a month to your bill for 22 months, however you can pay off the phone early. Once the phone is paid off, I am looking at about 83 bucks a month with insurance for Unlimited with 5GB data with hotspot.
All of the numbers I just gave your are ballpark (except for the extra 20) becasue I don't remember the exact numbers.
In the long run, your monthly bill will be cheaper. The classic play with 5gb is about 94 bucks a month before taxes and fees.
At least this is how I understand things. If I am wrong, someone else please chime in.

To add to durhamite's response, the extra $20 is per phone on the Value plan. This is easier to explain with examples. I'll assume two lines on an unlimited voice/text/2GB high-speed data plan.
Classic price for phones: $279 (after MIR)*2=$558
Classic MRC = $139.98
Value price for phones: $229*2= $458
Monthly EIP payments (for 20 months): $20*2=40
Value MRC: $99.98
I left out activation fees and any other fees that would be the same, regardless of plan. To summarize, with the Value plan, you pay $200 less today ($100 would come back via MIR if you chose Classic), the same amount for the next 20 months, and $40 less for the last four months of your contract. Keep in mind that both plans have an ETF and if you cancel a Value plan early, the remaining balance on the phones is due immediately.
The other advantage is that with the Value plan, you wouldn't have to have the data plan on your phones. However, I'm unsure if that is from the beginning, or only after you have finished your EIP installments.
So basically on the Value Plan, TMO is giving you an interest free (0% APR) loan on your phone (EIP payments = $20 x 20 months). Assuming that your credit is good enough to qualify for this plan.
I've ran the numbers between Classic vs Value plans. Value is always cheaper, you'll save between $100-$200, after 24 months contract, depending on which plans you choose.
Should of went to Walmart, only 198 for the phone.

While it's true that you're saving upfront cost of the phone $198 vs $229 from Walmart vs TMOBile, once you add up all the 24 months contract the Value plan is still cheaper. AFAIK, you can only get Value Plan from Retail TMO stores.

WELCOME TO TMO BRO! Ive been with them for a decade, and in that time Ive also had second lines with Sprint, and verizon. Tmo is AMAZING!! They will take good care uf you whenever theres a problem, they have gone SOOO far above and beyond anything any other carrier will do for me.
Also, make sure you bookmark tmonews.com, , its ran by blogger David Beren and its a branch of phonedog. Youll find all the latest leaks of phones, and sales. If you watch the sales, you can call and make changes to your plan that cxan really save you big money and lock you into great prices and features. Sorry, Im a huge TMO Fan, and Im always trying to bring ppl over, lol. Theres a guy at my local Tmo store who tells me I make him About $500 a year in commisions, just telling ppl about the service and handing them his card, lmao. But in return he called me the day before launch and had a GS3 tucked off to the side to sell me a day early!

wrong you can get the value plan w/ the s3 at costco for 390 without monthly installments. now that is a deal.
My plan:
unlimited minutes for two lines: 69.99
unlimited text for all lines: 9.99
two additional lines: 4.99 x 2 = 9.98
two lines w/ 200mb data: 4.99 x2 = 9.98
Total bill: 99.94$ - 15% employee discount = 84.95$ monthly pre taxes for four lines.
This same plan on classic would run you.... 99.99 for unlimited talk/text plus 19.99 for two add a line plus 40$ (minimum) for required data. After the discount it would be 137$ monthly.
This itself is a 52$ savings per month over 2 years. Which is 1248$ total in savings.
Provided you have to buy your phones separately it is still a good deal. My family all has smart phones of our individual choice, some that are not available on T-mobile.
I'm thinking about going to Tmobile also as sprint still doesnt have LTE. So if I get the value plan of $64.99 (500talk+text+5gb data) then I can go to costco and get the s3 for $350 correct?

390* but this is only an in store promotion so IDK if you can get in on the deal depending on where your at.
Also 5gb data is kind of a waste, I would sign up for the 2gb data unlimited for 10$ and edit the apn to keep getting unlimited data without throttling. But that's just me....

Didn't know you can do that. Sometimes I use my phone to tether my tablet when my home internet is down and have used 6gb. That's why I figure I'd sign up for the 5 gb plan.

Just as a note for those thinking about it... if you live in the area east of dallas, tx, tmobile service is the worst out of the four carriers. Bar none. Sprint beats them, Verizon and AT&T beat them without any effort at all.

Cool info man, I definitely like sprint services since they have free roaming and good coverage but my area on 3G completely sucks, but when I go on road trips I'm pretty sure I'll find some bad spots for tmobile as well

Not a joke at all bud, if your making threats like "I'm leaving" when you call in, that may be the reason why? I've been a small business owner, and if someone has an issue, being polite could take them a long way with me. Not to say you haven't been, but I know a lot of ppl expect to just get what they want out of a business by yelling, especially when it's an over the phone situation, and not in person.
Tmo has done things that have just blown me away to keep my services. I'm positive that not everyone has had all great experiences with them, but honestly, in 10yrs they've always gone out of their way for me, while other carriers have barely ever ever been personable!
