Not sure if this is the right forum to post this but I am looking to purchase the GN2 as my first Android device when the US carriers eventually carries it. Could someone explain what the difference between the Android Development vs the Original Android Development subforums? TIA!

First of all it should go to Questions and Answers subforum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1792).
Android Development needs you to post your own port, modifications to the roms/kernels, but you have to keep in mind that you shouldn't post anything that you haven't modified/created yourself (posting links to a rom that you can't support).

Original Android Development requires you to post your own work, usually made from scratch, which you can't find in other roms.

yea me either.
in the N7 forums.. the Kernels I like which are MOTLEY are posted in the Android Development forum yet in the N4 forums... the motley Kernel is posted in the Original development section.
no consistency or description.
i would have to guess that Original development is for development not headed down the path of AOSP or Android aka Linux/Ubuntu etc.. and then android development is for AOSP Android directly related stuff?
Edit i was wrong its reversed from what I thought.
this may seem random, but can any developer make port of rom to HTC Butterfly X920D, it is using the same hardware to that of nexus 4, the support for this device was stuck in 4.4.2 which is InertCoin ROM but they officially stopped supporting the ROM, i love custom ROM n i wish some developer bring lollipop port, i will be thankful, i hope some respond to me, sorry that i made a post irrelevant to this development form. thank you
Two completely different devices made from two different manufacturers. Specs may look similar, but they are from two different worlds. Should have posted this to Q&A so the mods don't have to move a useless post.
Next time, if you don't make something, do not make a thread in the development sections.
hello. as most users have stock based modded roms, why don't separe the cyanogen? these roms confuse users with rare problems too...... i hope this solution because this is sometimes a problem

Most users don't use stock based roms many many use CM and without CM their would be a none to poor development scene .
One of the basics is if you don't understand then don't use modded firmware .
i asked for forum organization, and not for say that cm is better or not than stock based.... your answer is not pertinent to my question. goodbye

What? CM "invades" Android development? :laugh: You can guess who the first team was, to modify Android and present it as a custom ROM in the Android Development section. What's actually invading the Android Development section are all those "Stable, ROCK SOLID,® 100% Stable | BETTARY LAyF ◄◄©" TouchWiz ROM's! Those need a seperate section called "Stock ROM's with community bloatware instead of OEM bloatware claiming to break the barriers of physiks and being faster than light and breaking the first and second law of thermodynamics"... Not all of them of course. Exceptions are there.

Hello. Can anybody create an ios (iphone) rom for j5?
iOS for J5? Is it even possible? Don't you require an Apple hardware to run iOS?
This section is for members to post their own work, not ask questions. Also, asking people to make you roms is not necessary. If you want something that is not already available, read a couple guides and create your own. This is a development site after all. :good:

i wanted a list of aosp/aokp opensource not the sammyroms... i want a list of the best supported 2017s roms because is found nothing in the forums lile a list of such roms
So let me get this straight. You expect someone to comb through all the development forums and list for you all the ROMs that are based off AOSP? If that is the case your request is unreasonable, especially when the various development forums in this section have search engines which you can use in order to answer your own question.
I doubt anyone has that kind of time to spare. If you do however, perhaps you could present that list.
