Hey guys.
I've searched around for this problem, but can't find anyone who has the same problem. It only seems to affect my task bar on certain occasions. If I have a app running, I don't see it. If I switch my screen to landscape then it disappears, I thought it was a dead pixel at first, but when I play games or anything, it's like nothing's wrong. I only got it today so it's really annoying me. I tried to restore it and other things, it doesn't seem to fix the problem. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? Your help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Jamie.

I screen'd it, but it doesn't seem to appear on the screenshot. So I took a picture on my phone and highlighted on the screenshot where it is.

I tried that, but none of them do full screen on tablets.
I'm afraid that's a stuck pixel. There is a chance to fix those. And that's by quickly flashing different colors around the stuck pixel for a period of time. There must be an app that does that. But I am not sure if that actually works. Google for more info.
Dead pixels don't show any color by the way.

Defiantly a hot pixel, this is confirmed by the fact that it doesn't show up on a screenshot, as the image is still displayed under it.
These can sometimes be fixed by certain apps on the market, haven't got time to link you to one sorry but Google something like "Hot Pixel Fixer" or "Stuck Pixel Fixer"

Thanks guys, I'm giving it a shot just now! Any idea how long to run the pixel fixer for?
Hmm... I'm afraid it is a dead pixel.
It's not dead, as stated, or it would be black.
I used a pixel fixer for about an hour or so, still there. Going to leave it on for a few hours and see if that fixes it, let's hope for the best.

Sorry for that, sure- The LED Notification colors are now changed to multiple colors if you look closely, they aren't green or red anymore, pretty limited but still kinda cool.
You may have to watch it full screen to get the full effect.
As i was in need to charge to my phone, i also had noticed the LED light for charging was different as well! This is really cool...check it out
well can someone tells us how we can make this happen???
not really sure yet, my friend who had done this to my phone hasn't been around, ill find out asap
This is pretty cool but I think its worthless to post if your not asking how to do it or showing us how to do it. But great hack!

That's for the right-side LED... the video in this thread shows the colors changing on the left-side LED. It would be really nice to be able to control both, set different colors for different notifications, etc.

If it is an app then finding out how it's done would be even easier, all he has to do is post screenshots of the apk's in his /system/app folder.
I'm pretty sure we have confirmed that the physical LED can only do two colors, red and green. So it must be a hardware hack.
Not sure how to install it on the evo
Check this thread out if you want to physically change your led's to blue or completely different color..this requires taking evo apart and and swapping the led's if you feel confident enough..I remembered seeing this thread and thought I'd post it.

Guys, here is a very easy way to observe the black clipping issue.
In your launcher settings, set your drawer to horizontal paginated and the transition effect to card stack.
Now, in a dark room, simply scroll through your app drawer from one page to the next....very, very slowly.
(This works best if you can scroll from a page full of icons, onto an empty one)
Watch the icons as they appear out of the black background, note how they are broken and choppy at first, only taking full form once sufficient brightness is reached.
I also have an sgs next to me, running ics sgs 4.2.... If I repeat the test the application icons fade away and reappear perfectly into the black background.
Its a very sad state of affairs......but it affects every galaxy note.......

I know, I dint mean it to be condescending. But if you searched, you would know, it used to be once oft discussed topic.
The recent CM9 and Stunner ROMs have subsided most of it, though some of it is inevitable. Samsung, unfortunately, dismisses it as normal. LOL
No offence taken. I'm aware of the history.
I'm keen to try the CM9 ROM, to see if it addresses the issue.

Does anyone else have this problem with their nexus 7? I just got my nexus 7 today but I noticed that the backlight seems to flicker randomly
It doesn't look like much in the video but it is very noticeable and gets annoying when you're reading an ebook like i was.. Here's a video showing the problem.(It's near the end)

For whatever reason this forum would not post a video link to show the problem.. for those who wants to know what it looks like please PM me..

Is this a software problem? Should I go back and get it exchanged?

I havn't tried it yet..do we know if it's a hardware problem or software?
I just got it today so I can still return it if it turns out to be hardware
We really dunno at this point, but we are speculating software since both HTC One X and TF300 had similar problems and were fixed with firmware updates. Also someone switched it three times and all of them had this issue. Also try to run the screen in a pitch black room and tell me if the screen flicker is there. I may have a theory but need some other people to see if their units are behaving the same way as mine.
You can still post the link when you alter it a bit, insert a few *** into it, for example.
I turned mine on as soon as I got hold of it, no flicker, managed to go through and set up things, powered off and left to charged.
Coming back to it the screen would appear to turn on and off randomly, I thought it could be an app controlling a proximity sensor (I have one on my phone and I was EXTREMELY tired!), when I took it into the light there was no change.
I found that shaking it would help it flicker on and off at all intervals but didn't fix it. In the end I just started pushing random areas on the back, just before the issue went away I pressed around the bottom left quarter of mine and haven't had an issue since!
Glad I wasn't the only one with the problem though and would love to actually find out what it was.
Hope this helps!

Try this video,
h**p://dl.dropbox.com/u/13153603/Videos/VID_20120715_100253.mp4
it is using google map and you can see the constant flickering.. It doesn't look very severe in the video but it is actually very noticeable and annoying
I have the same issue with mine. It only seems noticeable when I have the brightness set to the lowest setting and on a page that is predominately white. I don't think it's the proximity sensor though, because it happens both when I set it manually to the lowest setting and when I'm in the dark and the tablet sets the brightness all the way down itself. Hope the next update fixed this, because it's really annoying!

I first noticed this flicker in a darkened room, so yes, it is definitely something going on. I'll try disabling auto-brightness to see if that matters.

I can attest that the flicker is ever present in a pitch black room as well.
Like this?
There are a few videos on youtube, but i cant post links but if you do a search you can find it
I noticed a flickering in chrome yesterday. But only in chrome and only while the page is rendering after it fully renders no more flickering.
Everyone turn off wifi and I guarantee it will go away. It happens when using wifi which makes it hard to believe that a software update can fix it.
Hello,
I picked up my GS4 about a week ago but haven't really used it in direct sunlight until today. I was outside, and the sun was shining brightly on the screen. Home screen was fine, and darker images were ok, but if I were to go to an app with a primarily white background, or open up something which used the keyboard (texting) the screen would flicker pretty noticeably. Brightness is all the way up, and auto tone was off.
Has anyone else seen this?
yup this is normal esp when using the keyboard.
Im not sure if it will be fixed.

I guess my question is, is this a hardware issue with many GS4's or a minority. I came across a thread on the Tmobile GS4 forum where people were experiencing it, but it seems not everyone is.

Its a hardware thing, but also its only in touchwiz so a developer might be able to turn it off so to speak.
It adjusts the color and tone no matter what to save the display from overheating and or burning in...
Does it a lot and I notice it cause im weird about those kinds of things.
If you use CM 10.1 or AOKP its gone.
ive made some progress with the RGB light meter on this; hoping a friend can write up some code so we can test out a 'smoothed out' transition and sampling rate and one that is sped up, averaged faster, but will take up more CPU and RAM and battery but more accurate.
here is another thread regarding it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280715
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284726
Maybe if someone who is using CM10 or AOKP could test it to see if it is a software issues and not a hardware issue?
edit: slade and jet replied while I was writing this...thanks for the info. looks like it is touchwiz related.
edit2: just went out in the sun again to test a lot of different options in the display settings (which none worked) but is seems it is only happening when the keyboard is enabled. I am using swiftkey.
yeah TW and that sensor communicate; i believe the sensor itself probably works better ALONE, but TW changes it and throttles it for either battery or screen safety.
It is always dependent on what is being pulled up on the screen, though it can be mitigated quite a bit if you disable all power saving and screen auto features, and leave brightness under 80% or so.
yea anything under 80% in direct sun is basically black. all power saving and screen auto modes were disabled. i covered up all of the sensors too and it still flickered....

Not just a sensor thing per-say.
It's hard to explain, they most likely did it because they didn't want the amoled to burn in.
Its the same reason why the brightness goes up another 34% or so on auto above the max brightness. Only uses it when needed to save the screen and battery.
Does it on youtube too btw, bring up a video on wide screen then tap it and you'll see the drastic color shift
I noticed this thing when I got my phone also. I thought I was just imagining it but I guess it's an actual problem

Hi lovely guys of the Note 3 forum!!
I've had my Note 3 for some time now and I was wondering if my screen is defect since it does act a little weird. I hope you can clarify this for me
Whenever I put my screen on low brightness, the screen tend to leave a trail of purple color behind whenever I scroll/move something. It'd be very nice if anyone with a Note 3 could test this for me, if u are having the same problem or if it's just me
A good way to test this, is to set brightness to 0% and then pull the notificationcenter down and try to swipe the notifications away slowly and look closely, if u can find some purple trail leaving behind the swiping object. To see this clearly, you can download the app Lux and set the brightness to sub-zero. Try -50% and it should be very easy to see. Would mean a ton to me if you could report back. I need to return my device asap if it's defect.
Thank you very much!! <3

That's the replacement for the 'bounce at end of page' that Apple successfully sued Samsung over. It now glows.
