Do almost anything with galaxy note 10.1 - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

Hello guys ,
Greetings from egypt,
For a while i got some very usefull information from this great comunity which helped me alot so i wanted to share my experience with this great tablet after a month of using,
I won't talk about the specificatins which already everyone knows , i'll just tell you how i make everything now (almost) and ditched my laptop .
Of course things get more fun if you get an otg cable
Now i can do the following:
- i can attach keyboard or mose and write word, excell or power point documents using polaris office then i can print it wirelessly or wired using otg cable on any samsung printer.
-using google translate i can translate any word betwean 64 languages and use the pen if i'm writing in english
- scan any document using programs like mdscan
-using samsung email client i can add all my email accounts keep up with my emails
-edit my photos with ps touch (the pen helps alot)
-download all files i need directly or using torrent (adownloader for example)
-draw easily using skitchbookx
-the pen also help in playing angrybirds (someone said that as a joke but it's true)
I know some features are available in other devices and some other important features i didn't mention but this is my experience with my belovednote 10.1 so far

What OTG cable and USB adaptor are you using to attach all the accessories?

I just received my multiport connector today from amazon. Similar to first pic except mine also has a mini USB port on it and a led light/ring on it. Works very well so far. Transferee data from SD card to tablet very fast and vice versa. I still need to test out the USB host capabilities. I wonder what use would the mini USB port have? Maybe connect other phones to tablet and see them as USB mass storage to transfer files LR something. Those are the only devices that I can think of that have mini USB port. Maybe it can charge that way also. Even if at a slower rate.

If you are such a dev here is some bounty for you as a little encuragement.

It's nice but i am not sure. Please don't go on my words. Some one said that me and i said it to you. No real Proofs.

what other devices has this
it might be worthwhile to extract the compass application from the omnia2 rom dump for testing purposes
Is this screen from the omnia2 or pro?
And is this a test app from microsoft?
It doesn't work on my HTC Touch HD.
Hi, there is a test app that comes with the HTC Debug Tools set for this compass, some time ago I analyzed it and determined that it was likely present in the hardware, but I have never gotten it to function on my Raphael.
Lacking an HD device to test with, I can't say if it works there, but I can provide the app I will attach it shortly.
About the AK7986A sensor.
In the test application under help:
AKEMD 2007 (name and year is viewed)

The app is not signed.
Da_G, i just tried on my HD the soft you shared to us;
-open and close seem to be ok but nothing happens
if you choose to re-open without closing before it will give this logical error:board already connected.
edit:
-init, start and stop give this logical error without open : board not found

So the soft is probably ok but for our HD we need to use the good input/output in the dll

You have to copy the DDLs to Windows folder. However, "init" or "start" from the menu only brings up an error message "The board is not connected". Some graphical glitches as well ... seems to be made for QVGA.
So with a small possibility that Layar (3.0 ?) will come to Windows Mobile based phones, we really need a working compass for that to work.
Anyone still working on this? Would be a great addition for all our HTC devices!
Ps. For those who don't know Layar yet; it's an Augmented Reality app for Android and soon iPhone 3.0. Go visit http://layar.eu/ and think of trading WM for Android .

Same happens on a Rhodium, would be very nice to have it working.
It needs a device called ECS1:, this driver is not present on Touch HD.
Maybe first we should check if any of new WM devices actually have AKM chip inside?
Does Windows Mobile provide any kind of a compass API? How difficult would it be to write a program like Layar or Wikitude or build compass support into Google Maps?
I'm thinking about buying an Omnia II or waiting for the HTC Leo, both should probably have the compass hardware, but how about any apps that use the compass? How long do you think it will take until we see an augmented reality apps for Windows Mobile?
Does anyone know which compass is used in the htc polaris?
Ar are the cab files for the polaris hw compass available by chance?
btw: if anyone wants to raise the bounty for this project just pm me or write it directly into the thread.
I did some more research into this, I am working with a driver for this for raph right now..
Let's see what I can come up with

Use phone as a universal remote control

Is there an app where I can use my phone like a remote control similar to a harmony? If not, what are the prospects of developing one? That would be pretty cool if you could make this thing an all in one, and with its bluetooth capabilities, run the PS3 as well. Anyone interested in giving it a go?

Aren't most remotes IR? I may have missed it, but I don't think the EVO has an IR emitter. I suppose you could make a device that plugs into the headphone jack (or one of the other jacks) and come up with something that way, but then you'd need to keep track of a separate piece.

The only way you can do this is with a hardware update. And an application, but that will take some development.
Below is the closest you'll get until googleTV comes out (then there will be a dedicated Harmony app).
http://code.google.com/p/android-xbmcremote/
would be sweet. This would require a BT-linked IR transmitter somewhere in the room that could convert the phone's BT signal to IR.
I am pretty sure that the PS3 uses bluetooth in its controllers. I have a harmony and it isn't compatible with PS3 due to the Harmony using IR and the PS3 using bluetooth. This would be a pretty sweet app though.

just buy a Harmony Remote for $50 and you'll love yourself for it.

I already have a Harmony Remote. Does nothing for PS3, and even if it did, it wouldn't function as a keyboard for said PS3.
Harmony makes a ps3 adapter. I have it and it works great.
Sent on my cursed EVO
Checkout the Logitech Revue. Google TV, access to your network content, harmony remote control functionality for IR devices, etc. Logitech PS3 adapter may complete the picture.
7/12 - If your television supports the Anynet+ protocol, you can use your tv to control your PS3. With Harmony Link you could even build macro to autonavigate through the menus as desired.
Also there is a app if you have a tivo to control it through your wifi network. I couldn't get it to auto detect the tivo so i have to manually asign a ip address to the program to get it to work.

Debian with gnome on A101

Hi everybody,
I managed to install a version of debian (with gnome) on the A101.
Most of the things works but the wifi is not yet fully operational. I work on it right now.
Edit : Wifi activated, and patch for sound available
Here is the file rootfs.img into two parts. For now, the only version is in French but soon I will upload an English version.
Edit : Supports english, see wiki for instructions
For more informations visit http://www.debian-archos.com
I will check this thread if you have any question about my debian.

That is very cool. I don't speak or read French, so I can't really check it out, but how is the speed compared to Froyo?
it take time to launch but after it's pretty fast, but the interest is primarily to release all the capabilities of the tablet!
And don't worry, i'm making an english version at this time, but it takes a lot of time, so be patient !

USB master works too, you can connect a keyboard, usb key etc ....
For the wifi I manage to connect via ifup and to ping google, but the internet does not work ... If anyone has an idea it would be with pleasure.

At this time the orientation Sensor and wifi doesn't work. Some internal devices like the screen are not recognized but works anyway, i have making a drivers package, but i only know the "isnmod" for integrate them
ok, let us know when you manage to get these working, almost done downloading it!
EDIT: I'll try and see if i can get them to work and if i do, i'll let you know
So, things that currently don't work are wi-fi, bluetooth, orientation sensor, hadware graphics and audio... a part from those issues I'm impressed on how well debian runs on the archos 70

Debian or Ubuntu on A70 it
Hello,
Really nice work, i hope you get the WIFI 100% and sound so it will be perfect for me !
As someone told you on your website, the coming Ubuntu release named "Natty Narwhal 11.04" will get the UNITY and GNOME interface, and it will be easy to switch from one to another, UNITY is also what looks like the Ubuntu Netbook Edition screen.
Maybe you can try to get UNITY inside Debian ? you will find more here :
//help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuNetbookEdition
Ex :With Ubuntu 10.10 a new desktop called "Unity" was introduced as default for the Ubuntu netbook edition. The new interface should use the small desktop of netbooks more effectively, give a better structured access to the installed application and be more touchscreen-friendly. It is already planned to use Unity as default desktop for Ubuntu 11.04
I am really exited for this. I have always wanted to use Linux as my main OS, but because of certain things I need (i.e. World of Warcraft ) that don't work well on Ubuntu, I always end up uninstalling and going back to Windows.
So I would love to have a nice Ubuntu/Android dual boot system on my A70. Keep up the good work.
And guys, don't forget to thank the OP. It's great when people do things like this to give us non-dev types better products.
Squeeze on A43it \o/
I did it using the same method.
And my 43it successfully booted Debian Squeeze.

The main problem is screen calibration. The pointer remains about 5 mm away from the screen borders, which make the menu totally unusable.
But as the center of the screen is usable, I managed to launch some applications.

By the looks of it Samsung stopped officially supporting S8/Note8 and decided not to port DeX on PC to the S8 series. Maybe S8 is capable of running DeX on PC just fine, maybe S8 for some reason can't run it because of hardware limitations? But I think it could run it.
In my opinion you have 2 choices.
1. You seem to have some knowledge about Android (like modding SamsungSans.apk) therefore you could try gathering all DeX related apk's from a device that supports DeX on PC (S9 and so on) and replace them with DeX related apk's in your S8. If you don't need any special lib files or any other weird system file to run, it could maybe work.
2. The easier way and the way I would choose but I searched xda and didn't find anything but that is a S9 and so on PORT ROM. Yes! if you can find a good custom ported rom from a device that supports DeX on PC you could use it that way.
But even if you can't get it to run don't be upset! DeX is a cool concept but unless you use some office apps you have to deal with apps running maybe at 65% of their real speed, overheating of S8 and extreme fast battery drain. So cool in some scenarios but at the end still a bit gimicky.

Android Car Stereo 9" : support request

Hello everyone
I am new to this forum and i hope to find the support i need.
Last month I bought a 9 "car radio with android 10 (2gb ram and 16 + 64Gb internal memory) on Aliexpress.
The stereo is fine and it is very nice, but the operating system is very rigid, and I cannot do many things: it is customized.
Bluetooth is the first problem: it does not have a setting and it is not possible to pair a device with a PIN other than 0000.
I asked the seller (Ossuret) for support, very kind, but not prepared at all.
Furthermore, the initial screens and default apps cannot be changed.
On the card it's android 10, but i can't install some apps:
YES: TomTom, Torque (but without OBD2)
NO: Netflix (only an old release). Disney +
ultimately, I ask if it is possible to install a firmware that makes it very similar to an android tablet.

Hi! I have zsdx too qnd pretty sure this is android 8.1 (you can check it on aida64, the sdk version should be same for 8.1)
And yes there is no bluetooth settings to change the pin. So torque is no go via bluetooth, you can buy the wifi one.
Netflix or other streaming won't work in the sense that these head units don't have widewine support. But some old apks can be installed

i already know what you write :
- Netflix : i've installed the rel 4.16.0 build-15122.
- Disney+ : no solution
- OBDII : i've ordered a WiFi one, not yet arrived, but i believe will be ok because i tried successfully an OBDII with USB cable.
my request is, if possible, to install a different version of Android, in order to be free to manage it and install all the common Apps.
