The frimware update for this rolled out today. Come on sammy where's our update?
Another Samsung video showing the note 2 features including the multitasking mentioned here, bit more detail is highlighted as to how the multitasking panel can be rearranged:

Imagine all that on our 10.1's. I probably will upgrade to the note 2 as well, my upgrade is due this month after a long 24 months!
I plan on buying the note 2 day 1 but i would love this on note 10.1
I hope all the Note 2 features make it into the JB update. Multitasking with G-Apps is awesome

Looks good but Personally I would wait to see the Note 3 before spending the bundle they will want for this device out the gate. Then if the Note 3 disappoints, the S4 will be less expensive and development will be in full swing. Then again the Note 3 will have any glitches corrected as well. and possibly the flexible screen
It looks good, but not good enough to remove me from my note 2. I dont see myself using any of the features they advertised. In a way I'm glad because my wallet has been spared, at least till the note 3 comes out.
I would rather wait for the Note 3 also. By then hopefully we will get the pholed screen and better processor

I don't think the Note 3 will have that flexible screen as they recently said they may go to LCDS.
I personally rather have a Note 2 over the s4.
Sent from a galaxy far away!
Note 2 over S4 anytime even if my eyes are closed ......dying to see what note 3 has got in it ..
$ PLZ HIT THANKS BUTTON ....IF HELPED U ANYHOW $

yh that is my biggest fear regarding the note 3. I simply cannot have the phone any bigger than the note 2
The note 2 has got me spoiled when it comes to screen size.
i wouldnt want to loose .5 on a screen.
I'd rather wait for the note 3. and i wouldnt mind it being a little bigger, as long as its pocketable lol
yes i have the GT-N7000 and i saw the note 2 and its amazing ,, but the release of the s4 yesterday its like ummm;.. its amazing yes but i thing the galaxy note 3 will have alot more features than this ,, i read it could have more powerful CPU than the s4 with 3 GB RAM and a new S-Pen and android key lime pie 5
so yeah here is features ,, im waiting for it
unless i get a note 2 as a gift lol
It's kind of surprising how many people that bought the Note(s) don't use S Pen and S Note. I guess they bought it for the larger/better display. For those that use S Pen/S Note heavilly (I'm one of them) giving them up for the SGS4 just because it's "shinier" is a non-starter. The N3 should be out by the fall and have even more features than the SGS4 and SGS4 owners can help Samsung troubleshoot some of the new features being introduced. Hopefully some of the non-h/w dependent features of the SGS4 will trickle down to the N2 in the meantime. I'd love to have S Voice Drive.
Note 3 over galaxy s4
i have a upgrade comming so ill try the s4..... but doubt it will trump my note2 !
Definitely N3
I had a galaxy S2 and when the s3 came out I chose the Note 1. I do not regret this and having seen the S4, which I think is quite a good phone, I will definitely wait. Because I will get all the benefits of he tech that went into S4 with a bigger screen and S-pen (both of which I love tremendously). I am actually quite excited about N3, especially as I will be going from N1. I am really surprised that no one is challenging Samsung with a Stylus phablet.
When the note 2 came out. It had a lot more features than the s3. Now the s4 is out does it means that note 3 will be a lot better phone? I have the s3. Which i had the note 2
Tried walking around with the note 2 in my pocket.. I am way too skinny, felt like a football pad haha. It is pretty, if i was a bigger dude, I would get one.
If S4 battery, screen are much better than Note 2, I will buy it at the first day. If not I will wait for Note 3.

Flexible screen won't come in a million years.
I'm in favour of the Note 2 design. If they bring that disgusting carbon-fiber-ish design on Note 3, it's a deal breaker.
I had a Galaxy S3, as did my wife. We both have note 2's now (didn't loose money on the switch here so its all good) I really like my note 2 but sadly I don't seem to use the S-Pen and related features as much and neither does she. I guess we've been around android phones that never had those features to fully get used to it. I might be getting the S4 for her and getting rid of her Note 2 as at times I heard her say that she likes the S3 better. I think size does play a role here.
As for myself, unless I find better use of its features I will either switch to the S4 (also depends on development), or wait and see what phones come out. Either way, I'm planning on keeping one of the Note 2's around just incase i want to switch back.
Here I am. the Galaxy S4 just like a mini Note2. Eeeee I donnot feel like changing for it as Note 3 may be better

I think the galaxy gear makes a better companion with the note 8 n5100 (with phone)... than with a regular note 2 or 3 (makes sense too... let's you use the note 8 phone feature comfortably)
I hope Samsung realizes that and hope they release the 4.3 update to note8 too with galaxy gear compatibility when they update the note 2, s3 and s4
I will be buying the gear if it does work with both my note 2 and note 8
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
I totally agree, but i did also hear that the galaxy gear will only have about a 1.5 meter range which seems pretty useless to me. I had the sony smartwatch mn2 with my note 2 and that had a 30ft range and thats only just enough if you leave your phone upstairs while you pop to the kitchen etc, it would still occasionally go out of range in the house.

I took a look at the gear features and none appeals me. I wonder what other ppl think about it that makes them want to spend on it. The way I see the first gear is a perfect way to get market response to prepare for a much better gear coming out next year
The next versions are always going to be better

True, but in the case of the Gear there will likely be a large discrepancy between generation 1 and 2. It does seem like it was forced out more by the marketing department rather than technical development. In a few months I wouldn't be surprised to find a lot of messages complaining about shortcomings.

That will be a Killer combo but at this point were still stuck waiting for 4.2.2 much less 4.3... I'm not one who gets all worked up of its a few month gap between updates bit this is their flagship tablet and hasn't even been updated after what 6 months? I bet Note 8 2014 before Note 8 gets 4.3 unfortunately
Even the note 2 is on 4.1.2 after around 1 yr now...doesn't even have 4.2.2 like the note 8....so the note 2 will get 4.3 in October for compatibility with gear...hope note 8 gets it too
Sent from my GT-N5100 using Tapatalk 2
Yea I know I quit carrying my note 2 after I got the galaxy mega in June, giving up my 45 mbs lte simply cause I got annoyed with the insane delay of updates for it.... After using 4.2 on the mega 4.1 seemed lacking and outdated.... I love my note 8 but I'm getting annoyed with the lack of updates on it as well, especially since I'm awaiting a fix for the uber frustrating screen freeze issue. Given the fact this replaced the note 10.1 as their flagship tablet and the major focus on mid sized tablets I'm more annoyed at the ridiculously slow process of updating a wifi only model note 8 since their is no gsm radio bands to optimize. At this point now I'm wondering if note 8 2nd gen will drop before we get the update to 4.2 much less 4.3 unfortunately.
Galaxy Note 8 and Gear 2
Hello,
Galaxy Note 8 and Gear 2 are now compatible. I tested it with Gear Manager 2.0. and it worked.
Cheers
Does this mean our devices Bluetooth/Wi-Fi chip supports 4.0LE now?

I have a Note 8, upgraded a few days ago to Android stock 4.4.2 (UK version; via Odin).
Everything works with the Gear 2 BUT (and that's a big BUT) I cannot see Gear 2 apps (incl. Gear manager) in the Samsung App store....so I cannot download/purchase any Gear 2 apps! I had to sideload Gear Manager to make it work with my Gear 2, but again, no access to Gear 2 apps so far. Can you confirm?

Hello there,
I had to sideload Gearmanager too. Yes thats the same with me, the Gear App Store does not work yet. I am sure, they will fix this issue soon.
I was a bit suprised that I had to find out myself that the gear works now with Galaxy note 8 as I was about to send it back.
I'm in Canada, and unfortunately my carrier won't be carrying the Note 4, but, they do have the GS5.
I was planning on selling the GS5 for $600-$650 after market and getting a brand new sealed aftermarket Note 3 for $550.
The Note 4 is surely going to be $750 or $700 after market, and isn't coming for a month or two in Canada.
Is the wait and $ really worth it, or is the N3 good enough to run for the next year or two?
For the price difference i would wait for note 4.
The Note 3 will last at least another year in terms of being high-end. Two depends on when they come with 64bit and S810. (probably Note 5.)
The Snapdragon 805 isn't really an improvement, since the N4 also has 3GB RAM.
The only real improvements are the 2k resolution (over 1080p on N3), the Cat6 LTE radio (won't matter of your provider limits the speed) and it'll get newer android versions.
The Note 3 is the best option in terms of hardware/price. The Note 4 is newer.
It's nowhere near the big improvement the Note 3 was over the Note 2.
The difference between the N3 and N4 is very, very small.
My advice? Get the Note 3 for the next year, and wait for the Note 5.

Note 3 is my advice
You can get the Note 3 at a good price now, and sure you'll have almost all the new software features from the Note 4 once it cames out. As mentioned before changes arent a lot on HW. 64 bit processors are just beggining its road in mobile phones and you wont see applications that take much advantage of this new architecture. And also remember, Sammy comes with a new device echa 6 months so you wont have to wait for so long :silly:

Nope, never...
Samsung is worse than apple when it comes to moving features down the pipeline.
Did my note get the features of the S3/Note2 or the UI? Nope
Did my note 2 get the features or the UI of S4/Note3? Nope
Would my current note 3 get the features or the UI of the S5/Note4? Do i even need to answer that?
The best we will get is the minimal UI changes strongly associated with their Android L review when we get the update 6 months later from the Note 4 ( again just BS )
and just a bump in Android version with no real features added to us, sometimes i wonder why do i keep buying phones from samsung...

I agree with you for those who do not want to root and install custom roms.
Otherwise the Note 3 is a great piece of hardware. Just take a look at the development section to see that there are dozens of roms to choose. It is easy to keep it up to date with Android new versions.
Actually, all my other Samsung phones, including the original Galaxy Note, are running Android 4.4.4. All you have to do is get rid of Samsung stock roms.

OnePlus One. I'm rooting for it.
Note 3 compared to OPO is like night and day....I converted most of my Note 3 friends to get the OPO and they never looked back. Only thing I miss is the AMOLED screen, and that's all. It's been sitting in my drawer fully rooted, custom ROM'd, custom kernel'd, recovery and all 0x0, every Note 3 user's dream, currently locked up in a box with 0% battery since I don't use it as a daily driver anymore - It's that good.
AOSP development on the OPO is Legendary and CM is backing every firmware update released with newer and better features. Camera is far more superior and no infamous Samsung camera focus lag time.
Try the OPO. It's called the 2014 Flagship Killer for a reason, and the price being so low, might as well get 2 OPOs instead of 1 N3.

The lady knows what's she's talking about ?
@op: you asked on the Note 3 forum, so most people will say their phone is still a beast and other phones are not worth it. If money isn't an issue, absolutely go for the note 4. It's the newer device, it's more future proof, there is absolutely no logical argument not to get it in favor of the note 3 (except finances, like I said).

The note 3 is the first phone I've ever owned that I don't feel like upgrading for a newer model. To date I have aways bought a new phone every year regardless. But if you have the money the note 4 looks really nice with the new screen and better build quality. The thing with the note series is that the phone will remain current for 2 years or so after release.

You better charge it to around 50% and then put it in the drawer, long time with depleted battery will kill it
Covered Design, Features, What was removed as well as added and a Speed Test. Is it worth the jump from the Note 3 to the Note 4?
After using the Note 3 as my main device for a year then getting the Note 4, I like to say that there is a difference and it feels refreshed. With the 1440p Display, New Touch Wiz Ui, and a few new features. Now I did notice that there are somethings missing from the Note 4 that the Note 3 had. There are also something that have been moved and changed, like the Pen Window feature is now used with the Multi-Window feature on the Note 4. Spec wise there is not a massive push but its still a beast of a phone. Watch the Full comparison below and let me know what you think. Is it worth the jump from the Note 3 to the Note 4?

Ok guys is it just me? I have had my note 8.0 since it came out in the meantime I have had the tab pro 10.1 and the nexus 9 both really disappointing. Yet my note 8.0 still fies super fast and fluid my nexus 9 stutters and drives me mad. How com the small note series work so well. Note 2 and 3 included. I swear my note 3 runs more fluid than the note 4 maybe the Qhd display not sure.
wierd that the note 8.0 is the only keeper androud tab I have had.

My AT&T Note 8 has excellent battery life; around 7 hours of screen time with 4g always on.
I get >10,000 Quadrant on Note 8 after 4.4.x update.
It appears N5110 is pretty solid and it still performs well after a year and half.
Totally agree, years later and still the most functional.

Totally agree. Can't wait for a note 8 rehash. It's a real "niche" market though for "us". The stylus and screen size are just great for notes. Not too big like the note 10.1 or 12 inchers (unless you're a graphic artist). Just small enough to fit in a coat pocket with the functionality of a small clip board but with the robustness of a mini computer. Plus games run perfect. Still running on JB stock. Have no intention of ever upgrading to Kit-kat so long as it has that terrible "no write to sd card" policy for 3rd party apps (which really ruined so many wonderful sync apps for the note 8 such as folder sync, syncme, ES file explorer, airdroid, camera ace, WPS office). I like the bezels (good for holding up the note with one hand and writing with a stylus on the other). Plus ram is just right. 2 gigs with a little over 1 gig ram for the actual "end user." I checked out the note 4 with 3 gigs of ram stock and it has a little less than 1 gig of ram for the end user (so Sammy filled up all that gorgeous ram with bloatware again). I think the note 8 on the last stable update for stock jellybean is the best at least for me (excluding of course the amazing roms available on XDA but rom flashing is a totally different universe to play around with putting the note 8 on a totally different level).
