[Q] i want to switch to ICS - please help - myTouch 3G, Magic General

i have HTC mytouch 3G running 2.2.1 with following specs. Can anyone please tell what steps do i need in order to upgrade to any particular ICS ROM
Saphhire PVT 32B SHIP s-off H
hboot-1.33.0010 (SAPP*****)
CPLD-10
RADIO-3.22.20.17
HBOOT
<Back> FastBoot Mode

First, root. Then get a custom recovery. Then flash the 2.22.28.25 radio and 1.33.0013d spl. Find an ics rom (there are only three, both in the g1 dev section. One is aosp 4.0.1 by jcarrz1. The others are cm9 and aokp by me. All of them are missing some important stuff such as camera and hardware acceleration). Follow the instructions on the roms thread.
And when you are ready to use something stable, there are plenty of nice gingerbread roms.

Mate, here You have a kickass rom: klick
I'm using it, only a few things don't work, but basically, it's a lot faster than any GB that I know

Guide to Rooting/Flashing Magic

Hello all.
A friend of mine has a HTC Magic (the google one) 32b and he wants to root and flash recovery/rom, but he is afraid of bricking the phone because of spl and radio updates.
Can some one point me to some guide, how to root and flash and give some advices?
He also wants to install gingerbread. Is it available?
Thanks in advance
Some additional info:
I'm writing down his mobile specs:

2) Install this recovery
(forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492)
3) Install this Rom

This is a request for information not general tutorial.
Hello everyone.
Yesterday I made the case that he had previously said, downgrading to Android 1.5, I installed a new recovery (Amon_Re 1.7.0) and got me here.
Ginger wanted to install the rom Yoshi 1.1, but I noticed that for this rom, I need this 1.33.0013d SPL and RADIO 2.22.28.25 or 27.08.
After making the downgrading, the fastboot got the following data
SAPPHIRE PVT SHIP S-32B ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.261
Then and now, is the question I ask? What will be the next step?
Thank you for your help
Just one more question.
Android 1.5 as at this moment, the system says I have two updates to the Android 1.6 and 2.2.1 of Froyo later. If I make any of these facilities, I lose everything I did before, that the recovery entertaining installed (Amon_Re 1.7.0)? Or the recovery keeps unchanged?
Thank you all for the precious help he has given me. They have been great to me.
Not one response from you. Thanks
Hello everyone,
Yoshi already installed. Can lock the topic
Thanks

[Q] Rooted Mytouch 3G with 3.5mm jack; Need help installing Ginger yoshi

I have a Mytouch 3G with the 3.5mm jack.
FASTBOOT Specs:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G

CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02

When I bought the phone (used) it came with 2.2.1
I was able to root the phone by downgrading to 1.6 using HBOOT and then using Universal Androot. I then installed Amon_RA's recovery (RA-sapphire-v1.7.0) using Rom manager.
I want to install Ginger yoshi but I don't understand the information regarding the SPL and the Radio.
I tried installing an Engineering SPL using the recovery mode but this caused the phone to stop booting either normally or to recovery. I had reinstall 1.6 using HBOOT and perform the rooting process all over again.
Do I need to change anything regarding the SPL and Radio in order to install Ginger yoshi or for it to work better?
Is there a different kernel I need to flash in order for it work or work better?
I realize a lot of this is addressed in various posts but I feel I've gotten too close to bricking for comfort and I need some advice specific to my situation.
Edit: I'm not at all set on using Ginger yoshi. I'm totally open to suggestions as far as Roms. I'd prefer a GB rom that's as fast as possible.
Changing the radio on your phone will have little to no effect on anything. Changing the spl will give you a not fully functional device.
If you want to use Ginger yoshi then yo will have to flash another kernel after. They have one in their download folder. The fender one.
A lot of roms (ezgingerbread ad cos are the ones i use) use autokernel so you don't have to deal with that
Oh also I think ezgb is much faster than the others probably beause it doesn't have all the cyanogenmod features (bloat). light and fast

Thank you very much for your response. I'm probably going to install ezgingerbread but I have one question first. Do you know what the ginger yoshi post means when it says:
RADIO AND SPL INFO
for 32b you need SPL 1.33.0013d and RADIO 2.22.28.25 or 27.08
for 32a you need SPL 1.33.2010 or 1.33.2009 and RADIO you will need the old radio(3.22)

That's the part that got me confused. Can I just ignore that?
Edit: Is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9987696&postcount=2 the best (only?) source for ezgb binaries?

Help resorting mytouch 3g 32b to stock os and settings

I recently bought a phone that was modified (rooted and ROM'd)from a friend who is currently vacationing abroad for the summer. Therefore it is very hard to contact him about issues about flashing the phone, etc. SORRY to start a new thread, but I'm a noob and I have been searching and trying many different methods on this and other forums to no positive result, and I need my phone to be functional AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
WHAT I WANT DIRECTIONS TO DO:
- To flash my mytouch 3g back to stock / default OS and settings.
OR
- To flash CM6.1 onto this device

Goto Theunlockr .com and look under the How To's Android section.. you'll find a guide for rooting the MT3G which has a stock sapphire.nbh file that will put you back @ stock 1.6 OS and the phone will eventually get the system updates from your service provider.
Flash CM6.1 Its good rom or flash SMF 1.2 its work great and have android 2.3.3 whit sense 2.1

[Q] HTC Magic Vodafone UK.Yet another How To Question!

SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP10000)

Now it is on official Android 2.2.1 and I am trying to flash a custom ROM (Ginger Yoshi) following almost every guide in the forum but I am getting nowhere! I even have problem when trying to flash amon ra recovery. I believe that the problem is the perfected SPL. Can someone please guide me or point me to the right thread for flashing a custom Rom or even downgrading. I have done a lot of research in the forums and Google but with no result but maybe I was looking for the wrong stuff.
Please help me! The phone has become very slow and it needs a change.
After a lot of trial and error I found out what I was missing! I will try and make a step by step guide for the rest.
Loumbas , we are waiting for your tutorial

Hi yaguilao. Welcome to XDA!
This thread will help you to root, flash a custom recovery, and upgrade to a magic SPL. A magic SPL will give you much more control over your device and make it easier to recover if you have any problems.
Once you have the custom recovery and magic SPL, you'll be able to install custom ROMs as often as you want.
This forum has threads for HTC Magic/Sapphire/MyTouch custom ROMs.
Some tips:
Make sure you know exactly what model you have: if it has a headphone jack, it's a Fender/1.2. If it doesn't have a headphone jack, it's a regular 32B. Before you flash anything, make sure it is compatible with your device.
Once you have a working radio + magic SPL + custom Recovery, your life will be much easier. The phone will be hard to kill as long as you don't try to change radio/SPL/Recovery after that.
Before you do something, read the forums. As much as you can. A lot of people have made mistakes, so you can learn from them.
If you've read everything but you still have concerns, post a question on the forums.
Good luck!
