[Q]Possible 32GB version in future?

Three weeks ago I purchased a nexus 7 16Gb which is amazing. Only couple days later news about 32GB Nexus spread out.
Wish I got like $50 back as a credit or something, but of well.
Any chance of this happening with nexus 4?

I will be doing the same too because of the same reason. I made the mistake of rushing out to get the N7 and if the N7 was released with 32GB at launch for 250 I would of definitely bought it. I dont want to make the same mistake with the Nexus 4 now with buying the 16GB right away and then a month or so later find out that a 32GB version is in the works and then kick myself for not waiting.
Besides I am thrilled with my Galaxy Nexus still (espically since I will still be getting the 4.2 update) so I dont mind waiting another month or hell even 2 months if one will be released later on.

Even if one did come out later down the track, I'd highly doubt it'd be within 1-2 months. The N7 took 4 months (from announcement) for a larger sized one to be released. Not saying Google won't change this time round and release a bigger one sooner rather than later but it would piss off majority of the early adopters.

My guess is that nothing will be announced until the end of November. The guys that want the Nexus 4 will most get the 16Gb version and a few of them will get the 8Gb one.
I suppose that then ( end of November ) Google will probably announce a new 32GB model ( even possibly and LTE one ? ) for Christmas.
Or at least this is what I would do.

Until then you gotta have to wait, I had the same question. I wanted to know how long will it take from 13th of November for this tablet to show up in best buy (Canada)? Kind of a important question for me, I want this tablet before 14th 12PM.

I'm hoping Currys/PC World (biggest UK retailer) get the Nexus 10. As I do have vouchers with them. But as for now it is only on the Play store

im in the same boat with Office Depot i have a $400 gift card that i was gonna use toward a tf700 but now am really thinking about waiting for this...
bought a toshiba thrive on CL for $250... the person i bought it from had the 2 year accidental damage... it broke so i have a $400 gift card in the mail...

Last I heard they were in negotiations to get it. I only heard this from reading the employee forums though when I asked there

If they don't carry it, they can normally order it for you online. At least thats what the manager told me when I returned my tf700

Is told they wouldn't carry it as they don't carry the N7. They said it's because they would take a loss on it. I think it's because they're in bed with Apple. Just look at the amount of Apple they carry over Android.

My wife is one of the Google Chrome Rep's at Best Buy. (I don't think they have one in every store) The program just changed and they are basically dropping the Chrome from their name. In one of her emails the company said that the reason they don't carry the Nexus 7 is because of a deal between Amazon and Best Buy. Mainly because it's the direct competitor. It doesn't look like Best Buy will ever carry the Nexus 7. She wasn't sure about the N10 but it doesn't look likely.

She wants an "ipad" but by that she means a tablet. I can NOT justify spending $500 on a 16GB ipad or $400 on a 16GB Nexus 10 for that matter. The Infinity is really the only high end one that I would jump on but that is way overkill for what she is doing (pics, vids, music, web browsing, kindle). So I started looking for "budget" tablets and it was down to this or the Xoom. Xoom is $259-$270 manufacturer refurbished but we all know the TF101 blows it out of the water and Newegg/Tiger are selling them for $229 refurbished right meow. I trust Newegg and they have an amazing RMA policy AND they have extended returns all the way through January 1st no questions asked and free shipping. Kind of hard to beat.

Very excited to be getting this. She is not crazy big into rooting or ROM'ing but I'll be on here looking around so if she has any complaints that can be addressed by a ROM or something (like cleanROM on the Infinity) it'll be GTG.
Any advice for me before I wrap it up and leave it under the tree for her to wonder wth it is? Obviously going to test it as it is a Refurb so I have time to send it back and get a new one if its bad but is there like... MUST have mods to do to it or should it work fine for her out of the box stock ICS? Again, she is not an Android nerd like I am and only cares that it works and is fast for what she is doing. She wont' be doing any gaming minus light stuff to shut up our 4 year old in the car lol.

Size and expandable memory. Like I said she is going to be using it for pics, videos, books and browsing. Size matters to my wife. Lol

why are you not considering tf300? it's Tegra 3 and you can get a brand new one for around $270. There were a couple of deals in the last week for that amount and i'm sure there will be more of these...

I've had a TF101 from day 1 and just got a Nexus 7 to replace it. The TF101 has been good to me but wanted something faster, that could playback high profile encodes, easier to hold and under 400 bucks. I strongly considered the Nexus 10 but 16GB isn't cutting it anymore and I'm not paying 100 for another 16 gigs. I prefer non-metal construction so I love the nexus devices. The metal corners of the TF101 cut into your skin after a few mins. The no SD card was a big deal to me too but then I learned you can mount external storage if you just get a USB OTG adapter. For movies and music, not apps. I will miss the back camera most of all for video chatting, showing people things and my 1 year old doesn't exactly sit still. You will enjoy the TF101. If you want another used one let me know

I agree here, return te TF101, while it is still a good tab, don't get me wrong, but getting her the 300 would actually be A LOT better in the long run. Less issues, JB out of the box, and only minimal mods to make it work fluidly. If she is a heavy texter, then I would suggest preinstalling a few apps like Tablet Talk (by one of our DEV'S here.) and maybe a few others that you think she might want to have on it.
But definately return the TF101 and get the 300. You're only a few bucks more into it, and in the long run it will be further supported. ASUS has already stated that they will provide KLP for the TF300 and up, where as the rest of us will be stopped at JB (for official ROM'S).

Oh yeah I had no idea the TF300 was available NEW for that price. And the nice thing about getting it at BB is I can get a 1 or 2 yr warranty on it. I think I could have with Newegg too but I like being able to take things to the store and talk to a person, even if it is the geeksquad...
Going to order the TF300 now and I'll RMA the 101 to Newegg when it comes in probably tomorrow.

You are quite welcome from my end. At least we can see that you thought it through clearly and decided that a LITTLE more for NEW was better then a little less for refurbished. Correct buying it at BB you can get the extended warranty, get the ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE ALSO. Found that out with my wife's DSLR, strap holder broke, letting the camera fall from her neck and hit the iced over concrete. It looked like that scene from Terminator 2 when the liquid metal terminator got froze then shot and exploded.
Sadly (not really) they no longer made or had available the same camera I had initially bought my wife, so they had to *sigh* upgrade her to the next one up. Now if I buy something from them I make sure to get the max extended warranty and the accidental damage coverage.
Also as a side note, just root it before she even opens it. Set it up for side loading and all all ready.

I might root it... I dunno its all nice in the shrinkwrap right now and I'd like her to open something brand new. Then again I'd probably be better off checking it... And damn I completely spaced my own advice on getting the protection plan. Probably should gander on back and pick it up for the tablet. Either way she's going to flip **** because she says she doesn't really want anything for xmas but I KNOW she is dying for a tablet.

N4 32GB?

I was planning to get the Nexus 4 this weekend then I heard a rumor about a 32gb version.

I wanted to get the 16gb version tomorrow. I didn't get my N7 until after they release the 32GB N7 and they got rid of the 8gb n7 and lowed the price of the 16gb. I'm a college student trying to say money.
Do you this might happen to the N4 too? The article says it might be launching at Google I/O which is less than a month away.
Should I wait another month and see what happens or got ahead and get it now?

This makes me sick. This is companies testing how stupid consumers can get. I made a post when the nexus 4 first came out stating that they will do this. "Hey let's make a ****ty amount of storage and months later release the same exact phone with more space" why? People people will gladly throw their money at it. The rumor going around is not only will it have 32gb but will also have Key Lime Pie first. So really at this point you might as well wait if you are patient enough.

Who knows, the other rumor going around is that a new Nexus 7 will be announced at a price point of $150. So if that is true that a new one with better hardware is released at that price range then have no reason to drop the price or remove the old ones off the play store.

Get it while its hot this machine is great even with its storage limitations which help me take the leap to cloud storage which is cheaper than SD cards anyway

I'm on the same boat. Was gonna buy a N4 this week but will hold till May to see if this rumor is true. What I find difficult is the addition of LTE without carrier involvement (see Verizon GNexus) and if the carrier is involved it most certainly will not be sold for $350 - $400 off contract.

Hopefully they do a different design and also with better camera. Got bored with the current one and need some new design on the nexus. Also throw in lte and higher storage. Don't do CDMA as usual because Verizon sucks.

The best thing for you to do is just wait after google i/o... they probably aren't going to release anything before, I wouldn't risk the money when you can save some if you get it after they announce an update n4 or the next nexus

I love how everyone in this thread is taking this article as gospel.

This new Nexus 7 gets better after using it for a while

I'm loving this new model, but yesterday I wasn't so sure, had a bit of scrolling lag, didn't seem particularly quick, its as if you have to let the device work for a while so it irons out its own little wrinkles, today this tablet has been super smooth, fast and responsive, last night I had a bit of buyers remorse, tonight I'm thinking this thing amazing, highly highly recommend to anyone thinking about it, and if your wondering if its enough of an upgrade from the 1st Nexus then yes... I couldn't go back at all, Google have tool a major step forward with this device, I'm really excites to see what the N10 will be like

I've had a BNIB 32gb sitting in my room since friday. My coworker messaged me before lunch, and we went to the local best buy to go take a look...I ended up buying one on impulse.
Trying to see if buyer's remorse will kick in before the return period, I'm sure it'll be much harder to give up if I actually touch it again...

Personally I don't think its worth the upgrade over the original. But if you have the extra $300 to burn it's a nice tablet. If poetic had their revolution case out I might hang on to mine but I find myself using my old 7 more than the new cause of the case and kickstand.

Well you sell your old one and offset the cost of the new one. ~$100 is worth the upgraded hardware to me.
I'm waiting for a case to come out and find the new one kinda slippery because it is so thin and the rubber is on all sides.
My concern is while the OG N7 is still kicking today, come October it might not fair so well.
I'm a device whore and just love tinkering so I factor that into the difference in cost too.

The thing is, (not that i'm rolling in money here), is that the OG N7 still has more utility than the $100 or so I would get for it. I could dedicate it as a tablet for the kitchen, "public" livingroom tablet, etc etc.
That being said, all I do is watch videos on mine, or maybe browse the internet. All that extra speed won't do me a whole lot of good, but damn did the new N7 feel good in the store.

For me it was a no-brainer upgrade. My 16 GB launch model had long since run out of space (had a 32 GB USB stick along to carry my PS1 games. Sold it on Amazon last week for $130. The $140 difference to upgrade size, screen, speakers, speed, and storage was well worth the cost.

google has implemented fsTRIM in 4.3. This will manage "garbage collection" during idle cycles and keep the eMMC from becoming slow, and in perhaps may be the reason it seems faster day two.

The caches take some time to settle down. That's the first lesson I learnt when doing cache wipes. So prolly after a bit of use and time, caches have built up and you're running good.
