How to tell if AT&T is throttling you?

I just moved and my signal is not the best. I'm thinking AT&T could have throttled me because I use a lot of data and I do have unlimited data. Is it possible to tell if they did? I did move to an urban area.

Simple, do a speed test.

I did and they're pretty crappy speeds, like under a megabyte in a 4g not LTE area.

nah they throttle me to 512/512 kbps, and im in an area where i am usually hitting MAYBE 1.5/1 mpbs

If your on lte they will throttle you after 5 gigs of data usage. Dial *data# they will send you a trxt with your usage so you can test it with speedtest.

How does one prevent throttling? The account isn't in my name so I cannot do the visual voicemail method and I've tried the thread that describes the workaround with the dialer.
