Got a question about data stored under the document viewer app. I noticed that the stock document viewer app is using about 2.5gb worth of data storage. I only have the 8gb nexus 7 so that's definitely storage I could use. That's not normal right?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You have 2GB of data associated with that app. Figure out what that data are, and if they are not important, hit the clear data button.
I haven't seen anything like that before. My total app + data is 11.5 MB.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm just too scared to hit the clear data button and lose something I need. The only thing I use the document viewer app for is for PDF versions of school textbooks. I guess its worth a shot.

I just tried it on mine and my files are still there, but they took a bit longer to load, so maybe it's the cache.

Gonna do it now. Thanks for easing my worries. I think it is the cache for PDFs . I've been testing it out and it jumped up a bit within a few hours.

Works for me, but whenever I get an app that does that I clear the cache and data then reboot and log in again. So far that has cleared up any issue with an app that is compatible with any of my devices.
Been working fine for me since day one. Have you tried re-installing?

Perfectly okay with me. I can even stream movies from my Drop Box without cluttering with my clearwire 1.5 Mbps wifi !

Clear app data and cache. Uninstall then reinstall.
Tried all of the above and still doesn't work, I'm using the tablet UI if that has anything to do with it, but I doubt it would.

Did you tweak the dpi? Does any other cloud service do the same? Try minus, cubby, skydrive, etc...
But saying that, dropbox has been working since day 1 for me as well.

That's why it does not work. Go back to the standard dpi and get it setup. I think you can then change dpi and it will work.

I used the True Tablet Ui Patch (Link) And completely forgot to make a backup beforehand, Not sure if I can just change the DPI back again, But I'll check.
Edit: I can't, The DPI is currently at 213 |:
Edit 2: Got it working, thanks for the help.
I can't seem to find a solution to my problem. Please see attachment. Basically, I cannot use my camera or gallery because of a No External Storage Available message. I wanted to take pictures and clips over the holiday period (I haven't got a proper camera)... I would be very grateful for any help! Cheers!:fingers-crossed:
It would help if you attached a screenshot of your Storage screen in Settings. That will show what is available and what is used. Perhaps we can find your memory hog.

Your images folder might have been deleted or is corrupted, maybe a cause for gallery and your camera not finding it.

Hi! No, it's the 8GB model, one of the very first batch...
I may very well have deleted the image folder when I was having problems with the update to 4.2. It would be great if you could tell me where to put it back (under pictures?) and what to name it. Thanks!

go into apps in settings and clear galarys data and cache, force stop it to.
if all elce fails you could fastboot flash 4.2.1, after backing everything up with titanium backup.

Could be a log file. I'm not sure what it is. I would scan again once it appears. Not sure if it is I needed file or not. I don't have a nex 4 but was looking into getting one that's why I'm at the forum.
You can try sd maid which has a system cleaner. Or change the files permissions if you are worried about it transmitting data. But I wouldn't mess with it too much until you figure out what it is.

You guys could wipe your sdcard with twrp if you are worried, but back up all your wanted sdcard data to a computer first. And then put it back on right after. I do that with my Nexus 7 sometime. Not sure if it is the same process on Nex4. It may not be necessary, not sure.

Hi all,
I've got a nexus 4 here, running paranoid android 3.9, and my storage is just not right, When I calculate the taken up space by stuff like music, apps, others I should have a bit over 3gb of free space. And my phone says I've got 1gb. Any idea of what might be the problem?
I'll post a snapshot tomorrow when I get to the computer, for some reason it doesn't wanna post it from a phone.
Thanks!

Use the app Disk Usage: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage
When you use it, make sure you click /data not just sdcard because /data directory is more accurate for checking storage
Thanks,
CWM backups take a bit more space then the ones on my old phone, where they would be around 500mb and on my nexus is around 2gb

IF they were on your external SD you can use a recover app like recuva or similar to attempt to recovery them. JUST don't write ANYTHING to it till you've attempted a few recoveries.
Can also use testdisk and photrec on linux
You can always just break up if not. Might be easier software way..
Good luck.

Have you had any luck recovering those deleted photos?
I had success useing "disk digger" it recovered 2500 photos. (accidentally deleted a album) roughly 650 of them were corrupted but it was still a success most of them were salvaged.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I used Sandisk RescuePro and it worked great for a microSD card. The key to recovering lost photos is to not shoot any more pics or format i.e. the less you write to the card the better your chances of recovery.
For things stored on your phone, try Disk Digger that 'Menance_69' mentioned or checkout Undelete For Root Users (as the name implies it's only for rooted devices). Hope this helps.
Re: Lost pictures help please
See, now a days so many data recovery tools are available on internet to help you out from this kind of situation. Some days ago I found one tool named as Remo Recover and it fascinated me with its qualities.

congrats, man! one thing you could do, too, is get a free dropbox account, and install the app. it will automatically backup all your photos onto your dropbox account as you take pictures. definitely saved me more times than i can count.
for other people's reference, there's also an app called DiskDigger that you can run from your phone that does the same thing as programs mentioned in other posts.
