Pretty much what the name suggests. I need a keyboard that is like stock just with a tab button. Any suggestions?

I purchased this one a few days ago... still waiting on it to get here. There are a lot of similar ones, but this one comes with a card reader.

I meant onscreen sorry.
All the ones I try don't have the tab key.

Here :
Hackers Keyboard
That has Esc, Tab etc etc.
Pretty good keyboard. Give it a go mate
AnySoftKeyboard with SSH for AnySoftKeyboard also has a tab key, and you can change between this keyboard and your normal AnySoftKeyboard layout by a finger swipe.

I've been searching for ages for a better keyboard on my Galaxy tab. Tried them all and remembered my favourite one years ago on winmo. TouchPal,its great and free. It cannot be beaten for the fastest correcting text input, just wanted to share this as I'm very happy to be using it again..

I guess when it comes down to it, you can't beat free , but i'm very satisfied with Smart Keyboard Pro. My favourite.
i like thumb keyboard wrks great on my tab
Smart Keyboard's not bad, but personally, I think Swiftkey's new Tablet Keyboard (although pricey) is amazing. Comfortable to use, good-looking and the prediction engine is amazing.

I tried thumb keyboard and swift keyboard but they don't seem to correct my bad typing quite so well as TouchPal when I write as fast as possible and I think it was swift keyboard, seemed to lose the word prediction when typing in stock email.

You guys should try the 2.3 Gingerbread keyboard. Liking it a lot.

Just started using Thumb keyboard this morning and it feels very comfortable especially when typing in landscape. Your hands need not adjust since letters are positioned in left and right side while the numbers are at the middle.

I also use the stock keyboard from Gingerbread, it has everything I need except in connectbot. i have to learn using vi instead of nano in order to stay on the stock keyboard. And is quite painful for every typo in mysql
Im not sure if this topic has been discussed here but wanted to mention it anyway.
I was amazed at how fast I was typing on the stock Samsung keyboard. The only thing I didnt really like was the settings key being on the layout. There were times that I was accidentaly pressing it which would disrupt what I was typing.
I consider myself as an Android newbie and didn't know there were alternative keyboards out there.
So I went ahead and tried Perfect Keyboard and wow, let me just tell you that I am typing with so much more accuracy and speed. I went ahead and purchased the full version.
I dont work for them or anything but I really recommend the app.

I personally prefer the Swype keyboard. I feel like its much faster than any typing keyboard.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I like Swype. Swyping is relaxed typing compared to playing arcade game with others.
I agree Swype also can make me hold the phone with one hand more lol

Can't stand Swype. I like thumb keyboard with the WP7 theme and sounds. Use standard layout. I've tried them all always return to thumb keyboard. Highly recommend.

Gave it a two week trial. Couldn't forgive the lag when initially typing. Drove me up the wall waiting on it to catch up. Other than the lag it was decent but still loses to thumb keyboard IMO.

Using Hacker's Keyboard from the market.
tap*talked via GT-N7000 (GB.XXLA4)
Buy the latest version of SwiftKey X keyboard phone version....
It is as good as Swype & it is my personal alternative when I am not using Swype!
Tapashocked via my Galaxy Note with a SwiftKey X !
I also am using Hacker's Keyboard.
I love SwiftKey x predictions!

I own Swift Key X and if you type slow the predictions are neat but it sucks when trying to type fast. Very inaccurate even with the fast typing setting.

What I miss from Swype keyboard is the ability that Samsung one has to detect you are using the pen and switch to handwriting. Swype + hand writing when using the pen, that's what I want
I really like the swiftkey x predictions but the spacebar is too narrow and I keep hitting the period. I love the split 5 inch mode of thumb keyboard - much more comfortable for me.
side note - when handing your phone to others, its best to use a non predicting keyboard as it can really throw them off.
p
Ics keyboard for me with aggressive mode.
Its really easy to type and corrects any miss presses.
Its available from the market for free.

anybody have FlexT9? i cant find it in my market?
I gave Swift Key a try as well. It seemed like it detected my Note as a tablet as an error prompt of some sort appeared when I initially ran it.
"Wrong version, this is a tablet. Please download the correct version" or something likr that. Worked fine but still ended up with Perfect Keyboard. Ü

Im using thumb keyboard for the split layout.
Hi everyone,
I just preordered my nexus 7, but was wondering if out comes with Swype. I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but just wanted to check. If it isn't already there, can someone check to see if the free beta works?
I know the Toshiba excite 7.7 has Swype, so maybe out would be possible to rip it from there? I love this keyboard, looking for solutions, thanks

No swype beta preinstalled, but swype beta installed just fine... and is my preferred input method on this 7 inch form factor.

That's great. I used to have an Acer A100 and it didn't work with it, I'm guessing the resolution was incompatible.
Now we just have to figure out how to keep Swype on there after the beta days are over...
The beta now supports all resolutions. Using it right now on my Kindle Fire.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda premium
yes as pointed out before the new beta supports all screen sizes and resolutions....got it working on my hp touchpad before selling it, so swype just need to update their app to support jellybean
it worked good on kindle fire not the greatest but it worked. I just hope it works better on the nexus 7 then it did on the kindlefire

I agree. I get frustrated with it on the kf and often flext9 instead. But on my phone, Swype is awesome.
I may try the new monk keyboard as well...it is weird, but i think it will be lighting fast once you get over the learning curve.

Swiftkey?
Just wondering if anyone had tried Swiftkey 3 on this device and if it works well/even supported? And also do you prefer it over Swype (I currently use this)

I have both keyboards, and much prefer Swype. I find it to be much faster since your not going key by key, but rather creating whole words. There is a slight learning curve for Swype, but as long as you give it a chance for a few days, you'd probably get used to it. The latest beta really makes it useable, although I only use Swype in portrait mode. Fyi - I have a hardware keyboard on my phone, so if I enter landscape mode, it's probably less work for me just to flip open the keypad and get my typing done. I tried Swyping in landscape mode yesterday and found it quite awkward, maybe I'm just not used to it.

Thanks for the reply! I will probably try Swype first because its input method is just amazing! But who knows how well it will work on a tablet.
Swift key and swype beta and thumb keyboard all are compatible and work great with the N7.
I change it up every so often, they are all good. Stock jelly keyboard is also real good too...

The million-dollar question is, does it recognize the tablet-ness and give you the resizeable keyboard button? Or does it give you the phone version?

If you are rooted and set dpi to 160 Swype will operate in resizable tablet mode otherwise it will be in phone mode

ah so this won't work with the native dpi?

Hello Everyone,
I have a Nexus 7 and I'm using a VisionTek Candybar Bluetooth keyboard with it. I'm trying to figure out how to use spelling suggestions and autocorrect while using a hardware keyboard. A.I. Keyboard does it to a certain degree like right now when I'm using Tapatalk but it's inconsistent on what programs and when it works. Any suggestions?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Some of the more popular keyboards on the market haber options to enable a custom action to select the highlighted suggestion. I know for sure ThumbKeyboard can and even go as far as using one of the space bars in split mode to do this and the other as the space bar.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm getting Nexus 7 on Christmas, and I would like to ask some questions.
How's tablet mode with this tablet?
Any defects which are popular?
Are any game lagging? (I will play a lot I think)
If your on 4.1.2 you can change it to tablet mode or with a custom ROM. Mine has minor screen lift. Don't mind since I have accidental. And gaming is awesome!

I think I'll run PA, I had it on my One X and it was awesome. Thanks for the answer!
There are many people having defects.. but you exchange it untill you get a perfect one LOL
About tablet mode, I just tried it and I don't know which one I like most... I highly reccomend you to hide navigation screens and top bar, so you can get use of your screen at 100% and with gmd gestures you can go back forward recent applications move directly to homescreen etc...
