Hi. I notice jellybean ROMs all have camera problems to some degree. I use camera ICS from market and it works fine for me on every jb ROM I have tried. Perhaps someone with knowledge can find out why this app connects and uses the camera OK while the jb camera app does not. Its a little bit laggy I guess but very usable. Camera jb from market does not however work.
Regards
I tried your suggestions. However the video camera still doesn't work for me. Still camera works normally.
I am using [ROM][4.1.1] Jelly Bean | CyanogenMod10 [BETA 0.36][26.09.12].
Are you saying, that you have video working?

Illusion Video Camera is working for me on Nikez Lente pre-alpha10
The video camera is working with some glitches on p11.
I use FxCamera for camere alternate, Video Cam Illusion for video.
Hope Nikez / elk759 fix the Camera issues in future JB ROMs..
I hope so too, i don't want to change my desire...
Miui camera works fine
I am looking for an alternative too. Let's just hope these camera issues will be resolved soon. I am using CameraFX for taking photos, even though the stock camera works with minor glitches. Video recording doesn't work at all
Most of the market cameras is that they are either 4:3 or take lower resolution pictures. Still looking.

Hey I am running CM9.1 on my phone and it works great except the camera app has some serious problem on image quality and lack of HDR and burst function. Do anyone know if we can invite the stock camera back to 4.0 ROMs?
Sense camera will work only on Sense builds. GB, ICS, whatever.
Stock Android camera is, well, lacking. But you don't have a choice.
Does anyone uses the camera JB+ application (com.moblynx.camerajbplus), I don't like the CM 10 default one.
I tried the AnTerNoZ zip for the CM 10+ camera, but it just doesn't work properly.
Just want a little advice before buy it.
Thanks.

It has a trial version, I will give it a try.
Thanks for the tip.
Also if I may recommend LGcamera. Has quite a lot of options which are not easily accessible without editing system files.

Best camera app for JB
I tried Camera JB+ application & it's like Quarx CM10 camera app - it still lags on video recording... Better install galery ics & camera ics from Google Play. On Camera ICS app video is recording fine without lag. The JB camera apps is brokened on Jelly Bean... Because it conflicts with old moto binaries. On camera ics with old moto binares is fine (because you know that on CM9.1 video rec is fixed). Also I tried LG camera app (it can't save settings on defy etc. If I change focus settings & after save it's focusing fine when you exit it & open - camera settings is gone (including auto-focus). So best camera app for JB is Camera ICS (or paid ICS+ version)... also if you install Camera ICS, unistall system Gallery.apk & when also install Gallery ICS from market.
flash this zip,
flash this *****, it works on me! cm 10.1 View attachment 2010703

CM camera app is stable now, although its output leaves a bit to be desired. The only real bug with it now is low volume when recording video. There is a ported version of the ASUS camera app that gives OK results for photos, but video is not working on that.
I am using this apk. thanks dude!

As far as I can tell, identical to the CM AOSP camera app with just the addition of lens blur function (which kind of works, unlike the depth of field mode on the ported ASUS camera app, which crashes on mine). Both the stock and Google apps produce very grainy results though. The ported ASUS app is better.

Thank you so much! Would you happen to know if the ASUS camera works if I pull the APK and use it in CyanogenMod? My new ASUS Zenfone 2 is scheduled to arrive in the mail tomorrow.

I am using it in Cyanogen, someone ported it to work (you can't just download it from the playstore, you need a ported version). If you search the Cyanogen thread on the Zenfone 2 Original Android Development sub-page, you can find the link for it. They got the flash working, and most of the modes (super res, manual etc) seem to function. But as I said, video recording is broken, and the depth of field mode also crashed for me.
hey guys, just wondering if you guys can list your recommendation for best alternate camera on R4P when using a custom rom (LOS, RR, etc)?
Biggest annoyance for me i've noticed is "shutter lag"; the viewfinder tends to pause and i have to wait before i can take the next picture. Which doesn't really happen with the default MIUI camera.
I've tried a couple, open, snap, htcfix, but yet to find one truly that's smooth. Any recommendations?
The cyanogenmod camera that comes stock with mokee/los seems to be working best for me. Have tried a bunch of camera apps and they all either have a ****ty UI or are functionally deficient in some way. Google camera would be great (love that HDR+) but it crashes when switching to video mode.

Yeah.. not sure why it is but the shutter lag just really kills me. I'm half tempted to go back to MIUI just for the camera. Best one for me i've tried so far is the HTC one.
Guess have to wait and see if Camera2 api makes any difference

I use Open Camera, it has a lot options to customize camera behaviour. I like it's UI.
Has anyone of u tested new ported MIUI camera on custom rom? i dont own anymore r4p but i see lot of u still have trouble with camera and recording.
just test this https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...aomi-mi-a1-t3670607/post73732145#post73732145

If im not mistaken this will be fixed when official lineageOS is released for mido
A fix has been found. Dont worry.
anyone tried that great fix on OctOS Oct-N?
Edit: confirm working with OctOS Oct-N. For stock camera you need to add "camera.hal1.packagelist=org.cyanogenmod.snap" to build.prop
Tested with Stock Camera (org.cyanogenmod.snap) and Moto Camera from here
Sadly i don't know the camera sensor. I didn't checked it on Miui before :/
