[Q] MT Kernel installation - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Guys, what are the step by step instructions for installing MT Kernel 2.5?
I really cannot install it, I already tried flashing it via odin but my phone just crashes. Please help me guys.
Thank you in Advance guys!

Try mai77's method (flashing via CWM). It's in the second post of the kernel's thread (by ronnieryan). Make sure you've flashed to stock firmware first.

I already did that. My phone just freezes in Samsung Galaxy Young Logo and after that, I cannot open the recovery mode.
Uhm, Is it recommended that I also include PIT and Bootloader in odin while flashing?

Nope. NOT Recommended to use PIT/Bootloader/re-partition in odin.
Installing with ext4 system and cache could be tricky, Id recommend to flash to stock ROM before flashing the kernel.
1) Flash back to stock ROM
2) Go to recovery, flash CWM to get CWM recovery
3) Backup using backup and restore
4) Flash ext4converter.zip and reboot
5) Go to download mode
6) Flash the latest merruk kernel using odin
7) Now go to CWM, backup and restore -> Advanced restore -> Restore System
8) Wait till it completes
9) Reboot and your stock ROM will now boot
10) You can flash ANY custom ROM you wish and do any modifications.
Thats it, this worked for me

Oh thanks for the response. I already installed the kernel but I have a question. My galaxy y is having a random shutdown, do you know the reason why? And another question, what applications are you using to undervolt and to manage the cpu of your galaxy y?

Same here, my phone does random reboot, too. I'm still in patience because the kernel hasn't been finished yet.
I'm using No-frills CPU Control to manage CPU and CPU spy to monitor it.

Hey, try setting your governor to ondemand (I was using ondemandx previously) and min. frequency to 312 MHz. My phone has lasted for nearly a day without rebooting, I just did it manually to update the kernel to developer edition version 8.

Guys just tick the option prevent other apps from changing the frequency in settings in No Frills CPU....
Because smtimes after deepsleep the phn frequency automaticalky changes to 156 mhz....
So it will not reboot automatically..
And keep its frequency greater than 312 to avoid frequent rebooting because armv6 processor supports frq greater than 300mhz....
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda app-developers app

Guys, I already solved the auto shutdown problem. I reflashed the kernel because the first time I flashed it, I am on Merruk Kernel 2.0 Pre-final. Now I flashed it on stock. I got it solved and I set 312 Mhz minimum on no frills using smartassv2 and vr.
By the way, I will flash the version 8 now.

Overclocking - Hard/Easy?

I recently bought Wildfire, and I realy enjoy it. The biggest upset of this phone for me is that Skype isn't working properly. The sound quality is horrible, scratchy and I can barely understand what others are saying to me.
So last week I wrote an email to skype developers and they told me that the main couse of my issue is slow processor.
I started looking how can I improve my phone speed and found this awesome forum.
I'm pretty experianced if it comes to overclocking PCs which can confirm my PC - watercooled Q6600 4.1Ghz, but if it comes to the smartphones my experiance is less then none. On the PC everything is simple - you run bios and make some magic. Ofc. you can flash ur bios ect. but everything comes just so naturally for a user.
Here everything seems soo complicated. I've read tones of postes and I still 've no idea how 2 safely overclock my processor. I know I need some new kernel and newer ver. of Android. On the other hand, newer ver. of Android is bugged and GPS is not working as it should 've. (I didn't tested this, just heared about it).
Okay question time
1)Is there anyway to overclock my Wildfire without changing Android ver.? I don't need any more functions, 2.1 is enought for me.
2)Did you test skype on your OC'ed wildfire? If you did, how did it work?
3)Don't you've any simple guide how to make a safe overclocking? During the search time I found this - I can't paste link but the tutorial was very complex.
Sry for my mistakes, I know my English isn't in a perfect shape.
Cheers!
Its easy, Im a relative noob and I managed it no problems at all. You dont even need to be running a custom rom to do it.
Youll need to first root your phone by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788776
Then download Jacobs kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471 Rename it "update" and put it in the root of your sd card. Reboot your phone into recovery by holding volume down and power and choosing recovery. Do a nandroid backup incase things go pear shaped. Select "apply sdcard:update" from the recovery menu and it should flash the kernel. Reboot your phone and install setCPU. Enjoy.
Do you have to pay for setCPU ?

You can either buy it on the market, or download it from this thread (don't worry, it's not warez, the thread is maintained by the dev).

hey there. i've follow ur way. but then nothing happened? the setCPU comes after flashed the kernal or we have to find it? nothing happened but an app called "Superuser permission" came out. I've tried to open it but nothing happened, just a black screen.
i tried to search for setCPU and then i got a CPU tuner. Everytime i try to pull the max frequency bar and it will force closed =(. why??
1. root your phone
2. download hcdr jacob's kernel, put it on your sd card and flash it, you dont need to rename it to 'update.zip', boot into recovery, just select install zip from sd card and choose the kernel and flash it.
3. download setcpu from xda, or find it on the market
4. run it, allow su permissions, and then change your settings bla bla.

As U are getting the superuser app u have successfully rooted your phone.
Now download the latest Kernal nd update from it by booting into recovery mode.(HBOOT then Recover). In recovery menu select your file nd hit update.A couple of min. later ur done.Check in about hone to see weather it was a success.
Download setcpu app and select max min frequency nd profiles if u want.Any problem these threads have TONS of info.GL

thanks all =)
Sucess! New kernel installed, Overclocking done! Aweeesome! TY!
EDITED: Okay guys, Skype isn't work properly so I'm pretty sure it's some kind of skype software bug. One last question, is there a way to check temperature of the processor?
Easiest way to test the new speed is to play games.

HELP!!!!

i've flashed CM7, and i reboot it, .. after 15min, the screen is the same, what should i do now?is it normal? i'm getting panic
What screen, if it's HBOOT screen, maybe something wrong in the boot process.
If it's CM7 splash, it was being installed.
use adb and type in "adb shell" and then type "logcat -C", if the log is running, the phone is booting

4.2 kernel is fine, but you can flash 4.1 if you want:

flash CM7 first, and then flash 4.1 kernel.
Just wait, the first boot when you flash ROM can very long (around 20min, usablly 5,10min for me)

can you give me some instruction of how can i make battery last? actually this is the reason wwhy i flashed this rom
okay, first try to install setCPU, free for xda member, search in the forum
set the min around 160 or >200Mhz and max ~600 or anything you want.
set 3 profile
Screen off: 160-~300
Baterry<20%: 160-~400 or 500
Temp >45: 160-~400
it'll help because you optimize the CPU use.
turn-off some animation, don't use live wallpaper (CM7 use it by default, so turn it off)

Overclock settings lost, some help please.

So, I'm having this issue with my nexus 7, can't seem to find a post about this problem anywhere on the internet, much less XDA forums. Using SetCPU (Or Rom Toolbox Pro, or both at once with the same settings) I can't get overclocking or underclocking to work for long. The settings keep resetting themselves every time I turn the screen on and off, and every time I reboot the device. Yes, I always set the values on boot, and when powering back on I wait for the SU notification, but even both apps show the settings changed back to stock 1.3ghz.
I have tried doing this with stock 4.1.1, Glazed Jellybean 1.2; resetting the bootloader, recovery, and os back to stock and wiping out the sdcard; I have tried the stock kernel for underclocking; trinity kernel Clemsyn's elite kernel both the 1.8ghz and 1.5ghz for overclocking; and yet I keep on running into this problem.
If I keep the screen on the overclock settings stay, however if I underclock to 1.0ghz the cpu speed keeps jumping to 1.2ghz anyway.
So, anyone with any idea of what to do, or any overclocking experience, help would be appreciated.
Device: Nexus 7
Android versions tested: Stock Android 4.1.1 & Glazed Jellybean 1.2
Kernels tested: Stock, Trinity Kernel, Clemsyn's Elite Kernel 1.8ghz overclock & Clemsyn's Elite Kernel 1.5ghz overclock
Edit: Both supersu and superuser with updated binaries result in no change; updating busybox didn't help either.

Funny, I have been debating on buying trinity kernel toolbox for a few weeks not.
Well, I tried it out; rebooted thrice, left the screen of for over 3 minutes, the settings stick, my nexus7 is happily underclocked to 1.0ghz right now.
Now to restore my backup, and get a nice overclocking kernel going.
Thanks Simms!

[Q] CPU speed issue (?)

Ive recently flashed the latest 4.3 ROM from Quarx. (previously I was using an old version of the 4.1 ROM from Quarx too).
First it was _really_ slow, after a while I figured out, that the CPU was reporting 0MHz maximum and 300 MHz minimum. The problem was, that the CPU speeds were in the bootmenu 300,600,1000,1000. To fix it, ive changed it to 300, 600, 800, 1000.
Now the phone is super fast, but I think there is some problem with the CPU speeds. If the screen is off, it runs at 300, but if I turn the screen on it will always run at 1000 - even if the CPU load is like 10%. Ive tried boosted and smartass governors, stock and lower Vsel values, no help.
Is this normal? If not how can I fix it?
thanks
Strange. It shouldn't be stuck to 1000 when screen is on, in fact it should increase to 1000 when there is some interaction. Try starting fresh.

If hardware buttons didn't work, it is usually indicative of a full system partition/wrong gapps/too big zip.

Will these steps result in a complete reinstallation? Ive backed up all data from the phone, so I can wipe everything.
Copy the zip file to your SD card.
Reboot and enter recovery.
Wipe cache + wipe data + wipe dalvik cache.
Install the zip file from the SD card.
Wipe cache + dalvik cache again
Or do I need to do something else for Quarx's latest ROM? like install a different SBF or kernel? Ive rooted (and flashed an .sbf) this phone like 2 years ago.. Before 4.3 I was using a 4.1 build for a long time.
You need to flash a new 4.1 build which has TWRP and then flash 4.3, because the old CWM binary does not support 4.3. I suggest you do a full wipe with defy full wiper or AROMA wiper.

No UCI support in Voltaq Kernel - Synapse problem

I've flashed voltaq kernel v15 on i9500 on touchwiz LL ROM, but whenever I open Synapse app it says: No UCI support detected.
Tried wiping cache, restoring stock kernel, etc. When I type uci in terminal it says command not recognized, but I could find the synapse files in res folder.
However I tried Nevermore X and Synapse worked with it. Since it had reboot and wake lock issues I reverted back to voltaq.
How can I fix the UCI problem in Voltaq?
Bro. That is known issue in Volt kernel. Anyway, install volt kernel again. If u get no uci message, manually reboot (mean turn off ur phone then turn on it). Do it 1-3 times then it will work back again.

the fix for me was
unroot my s4
flash supersu 2.46 thru recovery
then flash voltaqe
im not sure but whenever i update supersu
synapse fails.. but the old 2.46 works fine
so i never ever ever tried to update supersu..
thats the way i got synapse with voltaqe properly running
tried and tested on first flight, ale95 port, morphose v1 and v2
try it if you want.. but make backup first just in case..
