Hi All
Fairly new to this so wondering,
I have installed "Energy 11.5" to my Rooted TF101 and I use Google Chrome, but certain sites I use give me the message "your Browser does not support html5 of Flash" is there any way I can still use Chrome and get this to work.
Chrome doesn't support flash at this time. Use Dolphin or stock browser.

I'm using Dolphin 9.0.1 and my flash still work. If you say "Boat Browser" is better, I'll give that a try.

After many hours of reading posts, installing different roms, installing all the flash apk's floating around the forums and trying every available browser, I decided to post here. I have not been able to get flash player to work at all with 4.2 on any custom rom. Every browser I have tried has crashed. I have been at this game for several years, so I have jumped through all the hoops, fixing permissions, fresh installs, etc... My question is, has anybody else had this experience? I am not really looking for testimonials of it working for people right out of the gate, because obviously it is by the lack of postings on this issue. If you fall into the category of struggling with flash on 4.2 and found a combination that finally works, please pass that info on. Thanks and have a great day.
Flash on 4.2
I don't know about on a custom ROM, but this browser plays flash on stock 4.2 with a custom kernel
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/52089051/HoloWeb.apk
Worked out of the box for me.
Hi OP,
I am facing exactly the same problem as you. Mine is a Nexus 7 3g model running on android 4.2 which I got yesterday. I have also try installing every possible flash apk that i can find...tried on alot of browser. Firefox beta, boat browser, dolphin version 8 to 9, holu as recommended by the post above. None can get to work. Its either the browser crash or some can't even display any flash plugin.
Did Google did any modifications to 4.2 that prevent flash from working?? If anybody has solve the problem please share your solution. I am also not a newbie to rooting and custom Roms as my mobile is galaxy s2 and is rooted with custom ROM. Just that I tot nexus 7 can install flash without Going through that. By as the op indicates, even that did not help him.
Thanks for any help in advance!!

Thanks for the reply. I was really not wanting to go the stock route unless necessary. I will tuck the download away and use if need be. Thanks for the response.
Flash is working but only for really small videos.
When it comes to bigger videos or apps it freezes the browser.(Both with Custom and normal kernel)

Thanks for the reply. I only tried it on several websites that had web streams that I visit frequently. Good to know that there may be issues across the board.
not an issue at all with flash, works great. android aosp browser, rasbean jelly ROM, trinity kernel.

I tried that combination, didn't experiment with any other kernel but the one built into the rom. I don't know, hard to imagine it being a hardware issue with my device.

do you use any ad blocking apps? try adfree(play store free), itll stop a lot of those flash ads that give flash a hard time. what browser are you using?

Use the AOSP stock browser mainly, but tried boat, xscope and others that I have had success with on 4.1.2. I will try adfree with a fresh install and see what happens. Thanks.
Same problem here. It's working with some flash but definitely not all. Even the one on adobe website that checking whether flash is installed make browser crashed. ><
Hope to find solution too.
If you have flash can you watch hulu without a plus subscription?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Well, only solution I've found for now.
Use Firefox for android. It's only browser I've found working with almost all flash.
If you'd still prefer other browser as default, just switch off flash/plugin option in that browser to "on demand" (not always).
Then download Flashify from playstore, it helps share link to other browser with ease.
I use AOSP as my default browser, when I browse to a page with flash and I want to see, just share it to Firefox via Flashify.
That's my solution for now, hope this help.
Hi guys,
Seems like there is a mixture of success and failure of getting flash working on Android 4.2.
Care to share what device you are using be it success or failure?
I still can't get mine to work.
Nexus 7 (3G Model)
Stock condition: Andriod 4.2
I even come across a thread where after he did a factory reset the flash got working. I did my factory reset...still no luck.
Well, I'll share my detail.
Nexus 7 wifi model 32GB
Stock JB 4.2 Rooted
Flash player 11.1.115.27 (Try other version - same result)
Flash working on Firefox for android only, no other browsers.
Should I try factory reset then ?
I have it on my 32GB Wi-Fi. 4.2
Used the info from here (I take no credit for this) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336

Sorry, flash was too choppy for me with Firefox on 4.2. I reverted back to 4.1.2 until things get ironed out with possible updates or a solid solution.
Hi,
Rooted Nexus 7, Paranoid Android, with the Trinity Kernel.
Installed flash but every time i open a browser it crashes.
I need flash for attheraces replays
Any advice is much appreciated folks
4.1 and 4.2 do not officially support Flash Player --> crashes while trying to display Flash-based content
Solution:
1. Set the Flash content to be displayed manually by tapping on the webpage object
This can be set in following menus:
Settings - Advanced Settings - Allow plug-ins - On demand (in AOSP browser)
Settings - Content settings - Enable Flash - On demand (in Boat and Dolphin browsers)
Note - Chrome does not support Flash at all
Or
2. Stick to HTML5 only
Or
3. Use a device with Android 4.0 on board

I have that problem too. It didn't used to happen on 4.2.1 but then I tried that seeder thing before xda denounced it and then it started crashing. Even setting it as on demand will not work because once you click to open flash box it freezes. Firefox is the only browser that's hit or miss as to whether flash will work but all the others crash

the aosp android browser plays flash fine. theres a tutorial in the games/themes section about how to install it.
I downloaded and installed the Aosp browser but it appeared to be identical to the stock browser, renamed it etc. As per instructions from here. Should i delete the stock browser first?
Cheers

honestly, i dont know which browser PA includes. if its the "stock" browser, then it is chrome, and doesnt support flash. they could possibly include the aosp android browser already. if they do, then it is the same. you can. is the new browser working for you with flash?

you might want to install the latest flash player apk too.. http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.36/install_flash_player_ics.apk
Disabled the stock browser and a warning came up saying if i disable other browsers may misbehave.
Installed the latest flash from or link, cheers
Will install Aosp browser and see how i get on, thanks

Puffin browser works flawlessly with flash even on Ipads!
try this borwser for flash
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boatbrowser.free&feature=search_result
works fine for me, no crashes at all.
And i think your problem is not the flash it self but the kernel.

+1 (2 thumbs up) Dolphin browser was one of my favorite alternate until I discovered Boat browser, used it on rooted stock 4.1.2 and 4.2.1, stock kernel, plus franco & bricked kernel on the N7.
I used (free app) AntTeh App Manager to freeze/disable the Chrome browser on 4.2 and change Boat browser's setting to make it the default, On-demand Flash and it works 99.8% of the time so far, including Google searches. If it's still not smooth, disable the stock AOSP browser on the device, whether it's 4.1 or 4.2
For good measure, after making the changes - boot into recovery, wipe dalvik cache & restart - it doesn't hurt to clear most if not all of the saved settings.
Hi,
I have installed Boat browser and so far it seems OK, i think your right about the Trinity kernel so if the crashes continue i might check out the Motley kernel.
Cheers for your help

Yeah your right. At least for me its something that I changed that made it suddenly stop working. The only thing I do though was add that seeder apk and flash took a dump. What's really strange is like I said it'll work on Firefox sometimes and it works on puffin browser. It'll ramp up on other browsers like its gonna load but then almost like it overloads the GPU it'll freeze and crash the other browsers. What's worse is I've completely wiped formatted pushed new ROM etc and still get the same issues haha different kernel ROM combos. Nothing works but before that seeder apk it was working flawlessly

Before installing Flash browsers work flawlessly, after installing Flash browsers crash!
It does not take a genius to come to the conclusion that Flash is the problem and maybe it is conflicting with other software.
Changed kernel to Motley, i hope that sorts it out.

I have N7(2012) KitKat and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.81
Thank you so much
How did you do it?
best option so far, unless anyone found anything better?
Edit: works fine with firefox 27. Video controls are a bit iffy, you need to hold down the video and select full screen to enter fullscreen mode, and hit the back button on your nav menu to exit it, could be improved, but whatever - flash in firefox
In related news, are there any plugins to allow you to set a proper homepage instead of the awful start screen in the browser? I can't find any on the official site.
Hi :good:
Thanks for the mod.
Do you think it is possible to do the same for Boat Browser ?
hmm..
Thanks for your opinions!
swf files are played on firefox's Gecko engine. so that makes play swf in kitkat. and I think dolphine jetpack maybe use same engine so also can play.
and I modified other hacked flash player apk in hex editer.

I'm confused, flash worked just fine for me in Dolphin. Always has except the short period it was removed by devs.
All I did was install Dolphin from from play store, sideload a random flash.apk, set UA to desktop and ensure flash was enabled.
Amazon instant video works along with all the other sites with short clips [emoji15]
