The united states uses different bands for cell service than other countries. A different radio does not change the bands. Its the hardware that controls these. You would have to find out which bands are being used in whatever country you are trying to use it in. Its a very slim chance you would get anything better than edge if they are using compatible bands. As for what the 4g is of this phone, its not really 4g. Its 3.5 g which is HSDPA+

Att 4g or 3g

Is there anyway to run the mytouch 4g on att without it only being on edge network?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Pretty sure thats a no since the radios are built for different frequencies.
Unfortunately no, the radio in the Mytouch 4G only supports At&t's Edge Network.
probably not
iphone supports only EDGE on t-mobile network, so I assume the hardware designed for phones are only available to the network they were originally made for
if you want to run a MT4G on att go buy a desire HD. same unit but the radio's work on ATTs 3g network. thats basically the only way.

thats pretty much true there unless the phone is running quadband HSDPA. which is very rare nowadays. tmobile just kinda sucks cause they are running a rare HSDPA band while ATT runs a more mainstream. i buy phones from taiwan (HTC headquarters) for my family to use on ATT and their 3G is flawless.

Could you elaborate more on the Taiwan connection? I'm using this device now but would rather go back to the mt4g. Yet considering the match level of chess these companies are playing I need a Bobby Fischer type of device, of which seems to not be available in the YouEss

It's quite simple. all the phones from Taiwan use the same 3g signal as att here for their smartphones. So you can buy phones from there and they will work perfectly fine on att networks here.

htc inspire 4G (3G doesn't catch in Russia)

Hello! Help, please! I from Russia.
Has bought phone htc inspire 4G in the USA.
Ranges don't coincide with ours and 3G doesn't catch.
WCDMA/HSPA (850/1900 MHz) - the USA and (900/2100 MHz) - Russia.
It is possible to make so that in Russia has earned 3G???
Thanks in advance!
Probably not.
You won't get 3g. Frequencies are different

It doesn't work, the phone is built to use only those frequencies.
And, if, for example, I the inhabitant of the USA. I have decided to go to other country with such phone and it is necessary for me vital 3G. Also it appears that it doesn't work. After all it is wrong??

Why not just get a Desire HD? It's the same phone and probably has the right bands for your country since it's sold everywhere outside the US.

The matter is that one of these days has received inspire 4G and already late to think about desire HD (((((((
And nevertheless it is strange that the inhabitant of the USA goes with such phone to other country and ceases to work 3g)))))

It's not strange. Different countries have different frequencies. See if you can trade with someone in the US for a Desire HD since it has
HSPA+.

Thanks for the help to all!
Not to create one more theme, has decided to ask here...
Prompt, how many the built in memory in htc inspire 4g??? (At me only shows that is free 1GB)
And still....
There was no way to force to work 3G in Russia?
The inspire has 4gb internal, though only 1gb is available for apps.
And nope their is no way to make the inspire compatible with Russia's 3g frequencies. Your best bet is selling the inspire and getting desire hd

I am having same issue. I am in Kuwait and Inspire is not able to get HSPA/3g. Due to.that when we use internet, no voice call will reach and its shame on HTC..if US reside want to travel & use 3g, what will be the case?
Please let me.know if u get any solution.
Nonsense can I will ask....

Same [email protected]%#$t in Belarus...
Please search before opening a new thread. This has been covered hundreds of times over the years.
The hardware Antenna is designed to only work on ATT 3g bands, no amount of programing can fix this. You would have to change the hardware.
A Search would have shown you this.

MIUI - give up 4g?

As i understand it, MIUI doesn't support 4G.. but a lot of people here seem to like it.
For those of you using MIUI with otherwise decent 4G coverage from t-mo, is it a big sacrifice to give it up?

MiUi doesn't give up HSPA+. Who ever told you that is lying. The radio files are not a member of the ROM. If the radio file you have supports HSPA+ then you will get HSPA+ on MiUi.

Don't know why the OP would think such a thing....A rom won't remove 3G or 4G from your phone, unless you physically remove the radio parts from the device. You will get 3G & HSPA+[4G] on miui, only if you are in the coverage area.

I have no idea either. I've never seen a post that leads one to believe that any ROM will take away HSPA+.
I've seen where people say that "4G" or "H" no longer appears but you are still getting the service regardless of what the phones.
Ok thanks, this is helpful. I guess I am confusing with HSPA+ and perhaps LTE.
There's many posts that mention MIUI doesn't support "4G" and probably won't until China gets "4G". I'm guessing this is LTE they are talking about?

Hspa+ is only one radio. So you will always have 4g. MIUI doesn't support wimax radio. Which is sprint band which has one radio for 3g and another for 4g.

I have been using Miui on my HTC sensation and I can't get 2g, 3g or 4G. I only get regular cell. I can't even connecct to the marketplace as it says no connection. And I've tried about everything.
The evo has no wimax (4G) support on any MIUI ports. That is another example of the no 4G support. Easy mistake for someone to make, I suppose. Now they know.

Try wiping everything. After backing up that is; and doing a clean install. I've seen your issue with some people who were just installing over.

[Q] Atrix 4G roms compatible with Atrix?

Hi, Im looking to buy an Atrix, but here in my country I can buy an "Atrix" which according to GSMarena, its exactly the same as the Atrix 4G, except for 4G speeds and its not AT&T branded.
Would the roms for Atrix 4G would work in an Atrix?
Thanks in advance

The SGS3 (T999) does NOT have the LTE radio built in. You will need to purchase the new SGS3 model from T-Mobile, the T999L in order to get the LTE radio and frequencies.
So basically if I buy the HTC one or the Gs4 from T-Mobile I will have Lte service. Thanks...

Yup! No problem! speeds were tested at the T-Mobile store on Baseline & Rural, on a Galaxy Note II on display in the store.
If someone has a phone such as the ssg3 I-999 phone that doesn't have Lte bands but its cap able of 42 m.b.p.s. hspda isn't that pretty much as good as having a Lte phone. Thanks!!!

No, HSPA+ 42mbps is not the same as LTE. It's close, but it's not the same. You're not going to get anywhere close to 40mbps on HSPA with T-Mobile, the network has enough users on it at any given time, you may come close to 30, but you'll never break that barrier due to the specification limitations and tower limitations. LTE is new hardware and software backbone which supports much more bandwidth being handled at once, to more users at once.
The Phoenix Metropolitan area should be Release 7, Category 14 (21mbps), anywhere that has the 42mbps should be on Release 8, Category 20 or 24, depending on the model of their phone (20=single radio, 24=dual-radio). Wikipedia
My friends n4 gets download speeds of 35- 43 with upload speeds of 22-25 m.b.p.s. and he lives in mesa,a.z.
