Just thought people should know. Although it doesnt mention if its NA or int version of the s3.
It been discussed in the forums and a lot developers have fix it their roms, but this could be good info for newcomers

And for people who arent flashing a ROM (like myself).
i had my first unusual battery drain last night, woke up with 74% left after 7hrs of sleep. today it's back to normal, 88% left after 11hrs of standby only (very light to no use of the phone), does it seem like i should still root and flash the fix?

Open up your battery usage and see how much of it (%) is being taken up by "Cell Standby". Mine is usually the highest on the list
So is this a fix that will actually give me more battery life or just fix the display of it?

This doesn't fix the problem that some AT&T users are having with poor battery life in areas with bad LTE reception. In those cases, Cell Standby is actually draining their batteries. It isn't just a reporting error. If your battery stays warm even when you aren't using your phone and have all your apps closed, this isn't going to help you.
If I have no Lte just hspa+ would that drain my battery? Like, is my phone constantly searching for lte? I heard to make a custom apn for just hspa + but Idk how or if it will help. I'm AT&T and am having poor battery life

I had sticked with GB from day 1. Only a minor OTA update to 2.3.6. Four days ago I saw that there were a new ICS update for my French GNote. I said "what the hell!" and done with the update. Now I am getting 7-8 hours instead of 12-13 hours, and the phone is getting warmer now.
same old story.
ics gives more performance, but drains more battery.
I improve my situation with a change of kernel (speedmod)
There is a deep sleep issue well documented on ICS 4.0.3 for Note. If you install cpu spy you can see that when the screen is off your device is still running at 200MHz thus eating up the battery.
I've had my phone go dead after 3.5 hrs of use. Hopefully 4.0.4. resolves this issue
The poster who said that ICS just eats up more battery is wrong. There is a legitimate bug preventing the phone from deep sleep.
There is a trick where you can enable airplane mode, power device off, pull battery, insert battery back in, power on device and the deep sleep bug is gone, that is until you charge your phone again.
Hope this helps there are many threads about this.
If you are comfortable, flash a custom kernel or ROM. Also, get BetterBatteryStats and look for wakelocks.
I found ICS does drain more battery - though on my Note it wasn't anywhere near drastic as yours, maybe 5-10% more. I never ran into a deep sleep issue on 4.0.3 myself.
As for phone getting warmer, check to make sure you don't have an application running that is using a lot of CPU time. I found that for me, an older version of the Facebook app would occasionally get "stuck" and really use up the CPU, making the phone very warm - and running battery down.
As King Meda mentioned, a new kernel can make a big difference. After switching to the Speedmod kernel, I'm getting much better battery life, a few extra hours a day in my case.
Yes ICS gives smoother interface at the cost of battery life. I do not mean deep sleep bug. Even without that bug, ICS in general consumes 10 to 20% more battery when screen is on.

4.0.3 certainly had worse battery life, as I couldn't even get my device to enter "deep sleep". But, personally, 4.0.4 lasts me through the day - if not a bit longer - and I am happy.

With 4.0.4 I'm more or less back where I was with GB, 1,5-2,5% drain per hour under normal use.
4.0.3 was a horror story for me due to the deep sleep (l2_hsic wake lock) problem.

Agree !!!
But 4.0.4 is good. Smooth, and stable.
I've no idea about the stockROM 4.0.4. I use customROM for 4.0.4, and it really suit my needs and my device.
Battery drains, normally due to :
*) application running in background, which requires high resources of CPU.
*) device doesn't go to proper deep sleep, when you are not using it, due to those background application, and due to some tweaks on the use kernel.
Because of the application in background, and can't go to deep sleep, you will feel that your device is heaty, and sometimes is very hot.
Once your device go hot, normally the battery will drain faster.
When this is happen, means it is time for you to check which application make your device do exercise too muach, or means it is time for you to re-flash your device.
So far, I never use stockROM at all for my device, and never use stock kernel as well. So the stock performance, is beyond my imagination.
So, peare, for your reference, you may try "speedmod" or "notecore" for your kernel. These 2 kernels have been reported as a safe kernel for ICS, and also reported as a good ICS kernel to maintain battery usage, so it won't drain so fast.
as for ROM, you may choose yourself. you can browse around at N7000 Android development, and find the ROM that you like.
You can also try the ROM I'm using now = CriskeloROM.
This ROM is very good to my device. I combine it with speedmod. So far so good.
No heaty device, and no lagging, very smooth, and battery last well (around 20+ hours).

I'm assuming this is the stock ROM with a potential eMMC bug the OP is talking about? I am using CM9 stable and deep sleep has no issues.
But I do feel Galaxy Note was more stable with a GB ROM and I used a slimrom called CassiesXtraLite.

regardless of kernel(since one person might get great battery life on a kernel and another terrible battery life on the same kernel), what most affects your battery is your personal setup of your device and how you personally use your device. also, your data/phone signal plays a big part in battery life.
I tried it and I swear it just drained the battery slightly faster. I was 100% stock, not rooted.

Did you ever reset the battery and slow charge it(up to 5 or even 6 hours on usb)?
Yes at first battery life sucked for me, after I change the kernel I only got 1 hour more, then I started slow charging and saw the difference, the reason I said to change top a good kernel is the deep sleep, franco drains almost nothing during it

ive got not battery issues, im very happy with battery life on my phone. i get anywhere from 5-7.5 hours screen on time(depending how i use my device that battery cycle), but i dont use franciscos kernel(although he is a friend of mine). i do use a custom kernel though. but, as any custom kernel, there will people that say they get the best battery life, and yet there will be people that complain about battery. yes, even with franco kernel. as i said, battery life will mostly depend on your setup, your use, and your data/phone signal.
I have already a good battery setup with ak kernel and Greenify... I turn Off some with tasker just want to know if someone has a good e.xperience with battery guru

On my Nexus battery life is acceptable so I don't use it, but on my HTC Rezound I have been using this for a week or so, it seems to have no real effect that is noticable... Take that for what it is worth I guess, in my opinion it really does nothing and unless I see some kind of benefit to it within another week I will be removing it.
Even i am not sure about the performance. If ur a stock rom user try resetting the phone.

Guys Qualcomm Battery guru is the main culprit in draining battery. On a full charge with heavy usage without the app i am getting 22-24hr of battery life.
Uninstalling the app. Stock rom without root plz don't install.

Overall 4.3 has been reported worse battery life for a majority of HTC One users (there was a poll) and overall among all phones. Its because they did not properly execute some of the background applications. 4.4 fixes that.
my htc one dev converted to google edition has been great as well on 4.3
I also have a nexus 5 and was easily getting 5 hours SOT for the whole day of use. Same battery too. I cant wait for 4.4 GE for the one though. I hope it comes with ART as it was really good on the nexus 5. Not holding my breath tho as the nexus 4 / 7 dont have it.

Lol 4.3 IS wakelock city, as much as you refuse to believe so. With the exact same apps, on 4.2.2 i use to get about 2% usage overnight. Now? I'm lucky if I wake up with 85% down from 100%. So while yes I can pull 16 - 20 hours with 4.3, its a far cry from what I use to get on 4.2.2.
It really depends on what you define as "great" battery life. I'd consider 2 days + of usage and 4 hours SOT to be great. 16 - 20 hours is just ok.
I agree about 4.3 + sense 5.5 being bad for battery , altough i do get better deep sleep with 4.3 the overall screen time usage is worse !
Here examples from my experience:
4.2.2 = Average 6/7 screen time no matter what i do ( no gaming ) , 4.2.2 gaming from 100 to 10% a8 = 3:30 / 3:50 average
4.3 + sense 5 = average 6-7:20 hrs screen time + much much better deep sleep + better temperatures . average gaming 3:50 / 4:20 A8
4.3 + sense 5.5 = average 5:30 / 6hrs TOPS screen time , temperatures MUCH worse , gaming = 3:15 / 3:30 TOPS a8 , deep sleep worse then 4.3 + sense 5.
I think what reduced our battery life a bit is sense 5.5 not 4.3 as much as sense , i've tried MANY roms , MANY kernels and the stats i wrote above are from STOCK kernel + custom roms.
I deffinetely in overall 4.3 + sense 5.5 has reduced our battery for about 20% then it was.
Too bad sense 5.5 is so much better then sense 5 i just can't go back to 4.3 + sense 5 which was without doubt king of battery life. Hopefully we will gain back our lost 20% and even better perhaps GAIN some battery with 4.4.
On the other hand GPE 4.3 deffinetely is better then 4.2.2 gpe. Tho i can't give up from sense so worthless to me.
@CheesyNutz
I lose average 0/1% in deep sleep of 10hrs , but the deep sleep / wakelocks aren't issue , actuall usage consumes more then before.
If you guys need proof about my stats i could post screen shoots.
Edit , here screenshots see for yourself :
1st 7 pics are from 4.2.2 (1/7 pics )
2nd 7 pics are from 4.3 + sense 5.0 (7/14 pics)
Last 6 pics are from 4.3 + sense 5.5 ( 14/20 pics )
Imagine my frustration i've lost from 1 up to 1:30 hrs screen time, you can clearly see i've always had insane deep sleep so it's not that.
There is no sign of Android System or Google Services. I'm happy.
Any further infos guys?
Like what firmware/baseband you using?
Because i really think about to flash 4.4 as my daily driver (currently stucking with 4.3 GPE rom).

My battery last for a period of 12 hours with a sot of 5+ hours.....Google now is a very handy feature to me and this update just rocked it.....the idle battery time is good too as I was able to get 24 hours of battery with 4 hours sot.
I am thoroughly impressed.
What type of battery life are you guys getting?

I also have a nexus 5 and was easily getting 5 hours SOT for the whole day of use. Same battery too. I cant wait for 4.4 GE for the one though. I hope it comes with ART as it was really good on the nexus 5. Not holding my breath tho as the nexus 4 / 7 dont have it.

I don't understand. I'm on ART on the Nexus 4.
Hi guys welcome to this thread and today I will tell you ways on how to get more battery life out of your device/1. don't constantly use you're device as this can lead to battery problems. Med-High use at max //2.If you're using a custom rom it can overheat the device so be warned, this can also lead to more battery problems, for example cyanogenmod. But the problems are fixed on that rom I believe/ /If you do these two things then you should be ok, good luck guys and try not to brick you're devices if you downgrade from lollipopto Kitkat/Hope this has helped and click the thanks button is this thread has helped you if you have had any issues on you're Moto E device. Reply if you have any other questions!!!!

This is your battery saving tip!!!
Ohh man we never knew that.
Great observation.
infinite battery life
Try using the infinate battery life script, if you are rooted. This can help increase the battery life by far. Hope this helps.
If you want more battery, root you're device and install a battery life script. If anyone wants to link I can give it to them. If this does not help and you done to root the device install a external battery life booster from the play store. Hope this helps if not pm me or reply. Good luck, if your device does not last at least a full day without charging turn down the brightness settings on the device as this will improve battery life. Another way would be to close any unwanted apps and 3g/wifi as this can drain battery usage. Hope this helps?
@ANDROmodderHD, I have just one "noobish" question: Why are you spamming? :'3
You are just asking us to just keep the phone on standby, turn off everything, even the apps we are using even those we need to be kept running and even turn off the internet, pull down the brightness to zero so that we can't see anything out under the sun. Then what do we do with the phone? Throw it away into the storeroom or sell it?
You could sell it if you like. I know where you are coming from but if you just turned up the brightness when you are using it then you can turn it down when you are not. This could help.

Don't you think the phone will be on standby with the display *off* when I am not using it? How will the brightness level matter then?
PS. You are damn interesting
I found out the battery lasts more then 24 hours when on a low to medium brightness setting. Even when you are not using it. Why don't you take a test to see if the battery would last more longer if it was on a higher or lower brightness setting when you are not using the phone. My battery life can last more than a day. So see for yourself.

I can't imagine how battery brightness can affect battery life when screen is off, I mean, no matter if you have brightness at maximum because screen is off.

C'mon man. We don't need to test because we know the phone is not stupid. What you are experiencing is called a "placebo" effect dude. Use your brains and don't act so noobish, no offense but this is getting irritating. I too made the battery last for 2 and half days when I did not use the phone at all because I was damn sick.
For improving battery life, try keeping the CPU clock to lowest (300MHz) when the phone is on standby. By default, the minimum freq. on LP is set to 787MHz unlike that of on KK which is 300Mhz. Just revert it back to 300MHz as min and set the governor to interactive. Or, ever heard of "deep sleep?" That's the best battery saving technique.

Exactly..!!
Stupidity ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
Btw guys u can use GREENIFY app for saving battery and also xposed modules like Boot Manager.
Or flash a custom kernel which can sometimes make the battery last longer. This depends if you are already running cm or any other Rom with a custom kernel.
O.O
.... *slowly walks away*
Is this thread still going on??
Yes, if you want it to be on. Anyways this might be slightly of topic but is anyone running a custom rom. I know this may be off topic but has anyone got LP working on their device? Hope the update is good, what does everyone think about LP? Do you like it more than kitkat?
