In settings\apps\downloaded\google play store and press clear data and uninstall updates and do the wipes in recovery
Than install this http://www.4shared.com/android/ejrDDDRa/Phonesky.html
If its still the same, you may need to Flash the ROM and Gapps again

In recovery i can only do the cache partition wipe, there is no dalvik or something like that..and in the settings apps there is just force stop and clear data..

In CWM, http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery , you will have all of these options, use advanced to clear dalvik cache and install the google play store apk, attached earlier and test, if it works, if not you may have to flash ROM and gapps again

-.- i did it and its now ona f*****g recovery loop..aaargh....it says "E:cant mount /cache/recovery/command" ill try to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817186

your phone is an i9001, so use your WIKI http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001 , most likely you may end up having to get back to a stock ROM top solve this, but first remove battery, remove SIM card and Ext card, press power button for a min, than insert battery only, try reboot. If still the same go into download mode use odin 4.43 with AriesVe.ops and flash a CWM 6.0, try reboot

When I wanted to upload moonrom for the first time I was also freaked out when my phone got stuck in loop. I did what xsenman said.
Installed Odin on my laptop flashed base 2.3.6 GB than flashed CM 5.0.5 and lunched moonrom installer again.
Actually I believe that you got to have some special skills or be totally uncommon with computers and software to hard brick your phone.
Browse this forum carefully read a lot and you will succeed for sure.
Typed with my I9001

I think the easiest way is to go into recovery, go to mount and wipe.every partition, after that mount usb storage connect your.phone to the pc copy cm9 and gapps then install it.
I had the same problem and this worked for me.
If you everything right it's 15 min max

Since you are dead in the water you might as well try these steps:
1. Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device. This is done from CWM using the Partitions menu.
2. Perform a factory reset.
3. Flash CyanogenMod.
Ok to anyone that has a problem like this, this is how I fixed it.
1) Plug in usb charger to your computer, go on to recovery and mount to usb storage.
2) Then go onto here and download a rom (I downloaded attn1's liberated rom)
3) Then factory reset
4) Reboot and then reinstall your CM7 rom and put in gapps.
This is what I did and somehow it worked, no idea why it didn't do anything when I just factory resetted and rebooted the phone, but installing any other rom and then install the CM7 rom it works.
Hope this helped!

[Q] Defy restoring itself to old ROM automatically!!!

Hi All,
I am new here and this is my first post. But i have been reading this forum for quite sometime and know that u guys are now my final stone. I am a proud owner of a Motorola Defy. And I am having this strange behavior, which is effectively rendered the phone almost useless. The phone is acting like its got a restore point in itself, and every time i restart.. it gets back to that point in time.
This includes app installs, uninstalls, stuff placed in system through adb push, theme, everything in the OS. I tried installing a different ROm through clockworkmod, but its not taking effect. Its saying install success but as soon as it restarts, its going back to the old ROM. (takes time to load, so i guess it reinstall back/restored the old version)
Details of device : I am from India and the phone was manufactured in India in around April/May 2011. Its a red lens Defy and and came with Eclair. I updated it officially to the first Froyo release for SEA region. After that i rooted the phone with superone click, and installed WIUI rom. I have been updating the ROM with newer versions around each month. The last one was 1.11.18 though as i waiting for a good ICS version to flash.
The problem occurred after i started installing some gold apps from getJar. It restated in between and install... and that point is kind of acting like a restore point even now.
Things I did: Tried installing different rom by CWM method. Reinstalling second init and CM, both old and new version. Tried restoring nandroid backup of my official ROM. Tried fixed and full sbf flash through rsdlite 4.9.5.2 and now 5.6. First 3 things reset as soon as i restart. For RSDLite, it gives checksum error for each and every ROM i tried. I tried all SEA releases, JORDN_U3_97.21.51, Defy Plus Rom 2.3.6, 2.21 first eclair rom, everything gives the same error. From the RSDLite logs, i could see that there is something wrong as.. say the last successful CG was 33, and the error came for 34, the log says its expecting the checksum on the sbf to be equal to that of CG 33. Its taking the last successful checksum validation and expecting that for all the CGs henceforth. its not showing what the device actually has.
I atlast could somehow, but trial and error, removed all the CGs which were throwing error, and recompiled the sbf to make it pass the RSDLite flash. The CGs present in the ROM (JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7) were 32, 34, 42, 53, 61, 64, 65. And as soon as it booted, it restored back to the checkpoint. Even after i formatted by card and put it in, the app shortcuts remained on the home screen, but as the apps on the card were gone, they are just junk and doesnt open anything.
Thanks in advance. Please let me know what you need from me to help me resolve this issue.
Any help... Anyone?
Can someone please suggest something?
This is what i got from some people. I am not sure how far this is possible, but somehow the theme i installed just before this all happened, from MIUI market.. somehow managed to change something inside phone's kernel, past the locked bootloader? I am totally a noob in this and just a wild imagination?
Or may be some sort of cache wipe is happening everytime the phone boots up, So even when i install the ROM, when it boots up, it gets back the old ROM.. like what would probably happen if i do a factory reset soon after i instal a rom before the restart..?
I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out with this...
Checksum errors were for me also.
I tried my office computer for flashing and instantly flash was done. The checksum error occurred 7 times on my good computer before that.
Reflashing froyo must take care of all errors happening
Thanks Kapil fr the response. Are you from india? Which sbf did u flash? And waht all did u install in the office pc? I have a pc of my friend where i can try to reflash if you tell me the exact steps that u took in the fresh pc.
Also, can anybody tell me how to use adb commands in CWM mode? Its recognizing my phone in normal mode but as soon as it boots in Moto recovery of CWM, its not recognizing anymore. Want to use adb format commands from recovery.
Hi I was able to use adb in CWM, but format commands were not working. How can i format the system partition? please help me with this.
Is there anyone here who know how to restore a nandroid backup manually using adb commands for MB525???!!!!!
Sounds weird and impossible. Try this. Wipe everything though cwm and flash new rom. Try ms2ginger.
Thanks darshanonline for the suggestion. I tried to wipe everything.. factory reset+cache+dalvik cache wipe. And then tried to install cyanogenmod 7.1 as well as 3 different wiui builds. Everytime it shows that the install was successful, ut as soon as i restart, it would go back to the old ROM.
Is there any checkpoint system in android, seeing the init.rc, i can see comments on something about saving a checkpoint. Is there any particular condition under which this checkpoint may be getting used on very restart?
Also.. is there any way for RSDLite to skip the chksum validations and get the install anyways?.. Some sort of a hack into it?
Ok.. Found something else thats happening. I dont need to shutdown for the system to revert back. Say i install a few things new after a reboot.. After some time.. 1 day at max, i am not able to open them, and neither am i able to open manage applications or market. Everything force closes. I have Ti Backup installed, and i opened it, and i didnt find the new apps to back up. I connected the device and checked through adb, and they were not present in the app folder. They just vanished... So basically after a certain point of tiime, the new stuff just gets deleted on its own.
Guys i know i may sound dumb and stupid with my questions, but i really couldnt find any solution on the net for this. Please tell me waht i should do, and i'll do it. But tell me something. Dont ignore please!
and you did wipe data from within stock recovery (vol down+power etc.), i presume..

Yes i did that too.
wiped data and cache. Restarted to cwm and installed update.zip (renamed cm 7.1 stable) and by selecting zip from sd card. Same results. Installs successfully but reverts back as soon as i restart.

@ headers.chennai - Thanks. I will try that ROM, along with Pikachu ROM with Aroma installer, might be a different installer can try fix it?!
BTW.. does anyone have the TI OMAP board utility? Any chance that it can be available outsite here?
I tried the arora installer and it supposedly formatted the system partition and remade it.. but as soon as it finishes and i restart.. I get back the same ROM.
Is it some way that the files are not getting deleted, like some hardware lock or fault?

Hey man.. looks like we are having same problem...
Sorry abt the typo... its Aroma Installer. Its with the Pikachu ROM in this link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498843
Its a new installer that launches from cwm when u try and install this ROM. u got some options to select and on selecting the complete install option,, the log shows that it formats the system partition and then creates it. I saved the log file, but for some reason the file shows up blank now. Might be problem with the launcher.. or my phone.. dont know.

[Q] Defy can't wipe data/cache, can't do factory reset, can't flash sbf.

Hello,
for last few weeks I have a problem with my Defy, apps crashes, wifi connection drops, phone calls drops etc.
I tried to do factory reset, but it restart exactly as before - nothing has been reset.
When I go to recovery mode and do wipe data/cache, nothing has been deleted. It says the wipe has been done, but when I restart the phone it looks like untouched.
I've tried to flash it with exactly the same sbf, but I got the "Error verifying Code Group 33,34,35 etc checksums", I've tied different sbf, bit all shows the same errors with checkums. After that the Android does not start, Defy turns on and all I can see it the bootloader screen and the message "code corrupt".
What is strange, if I don't touch the phone for a day or two than... i can turn it on with Android system starting as it never has been touched, nothing erased, but again wipe data/cache, factory reset, new/the same sbf - nothing works.
Looks like the data on the phone has been locked and there is no way to delete it.
Anyone know to to fix it?
Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.
First write what ROM you have on the defy ?
Try put battery out for a 10 min ,when you turn on phone and you see blue led push vol- and there is recovery and there try do wipe's
if not works ,try use RDSLite and flash stock ROM once again (have to download stock ROM from forum ,look for it)

I do wipes, but nothing wipes out. After I wipe data and cache the phone turns on as nothing has been wipe out :/
RDSLite no matter what rom I use always says the error of checksums...
I tried to run a zip file from recovery, but says always something about "failed to verify signature" etc.
Any ideas?
Did you root you phone ?? If you did sth could went wrong with bootloader. Try make root once again. If you didn't make root ,just make it and tray flash CM10 by Quarks new kernel ,you will enjoy defy what you've never seen
Try a wipe from stock recovery, an sbf with ti blank flash option checked. If not then it looks like a hardware nand problem

[Q] Defy (MB525) screen all black, unable to boot. Please help!

Hi folks!
I think I've messed up my workphone (Defy MB525) in some wierd way.
I had Cyanogen Mod 10 installed and should only do an update to another nightly, but by mistake I chose a cm7-file instead and flashed it. After that I got stuck in a bootloop, whatever ROM i tried to install or how I did :/
I then tried to reset the phone with an original SBF-file using RSD Lite 5.6. The sbf-file I am using is JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_179-002_DEBLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_UCAJRDNEMARAB1B80AA03A.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYORTCEE_P016_A016_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf (found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828639 first post)
My intention fo flash the sbf-file was to restore the phone to its original state and from that point re-rooting it and after that install cm10 again.
But now to my problem, I just cant to do anything with the phone. The screen is all black and I cannot do anything :/
RSD Lite recognizes the phone and I can flash sbf-files to it. It goes to 100% progress but when it is supposed to boot up after flashing, it takes just a second or so...and RSD Lite then says "Passed" on result leaving me with the black screen yet again.
Only time I can see something on the screen is during the flashing. The sceen says "SW update In progress...". Other then that, always black:crying:
Really really stuck here and dont know what to do. If anyone has an idea and the time to help me, I would be in ever grateful!
Best regards,
/marmeladov

Download that, unrar it to a folder
Flash Firmware 1, let the phone boot up and done.
If you want ROOT, enter to Motorola Recovery (Volume up + power, when the Android appears press Volume up + Volume down) then factory reset and wipe data, reboot phone on BL mode (Volume down + power) and flash Firmware 2.

Thanks, had some issues installing Quarx CM10. Never managed to get it up and running, might've been a kernel issue or something. The led just turns RED :/
On my Google Nexus CM10 was more smooth then 10.1, so I figured I'd better try CM10 on the defy due to weaker hardware. But I might have wrong there since I havent tried.

Moreover, when I installed full Gapps I got system partition full, so instead I installed minimal Gapps:

s4 stuck on reboot

I'm running an S4 and have this very weird issue where after installing a custom rom, the phone would reboot and load the rom successfully, but if I ever reboot it, it never wants to go past the Samsung logo.
If I try entering TWRP and fixing permissions or factory reset, it just comes up with errors and fails. The only way around it is to format data, then reflash the rom.
But now I have a nandroid backup so everytime I reboot, I basically have to reflash the rom.. It's happened on at least 2 roms!
I've used the search function on the forums and found a thread was inconclusive so I've made this thread.
Thanks in advance
(This is my first Android phone too, so I'm not 100% familiar with all the different software and techniques, but I can definitely learn!)
Try flashing the ROM with the latest stock CWM. TWRP can cause issues.

go into the wipe options on twrp - go to advanced and select - cache, dalvik, system, data - swipe
then do a normal full wipe
reflash the chosen rom
power off rather than reboot
then power up
something gets fracked with the wipes somewhere and thats how i fixed it.
either that or flash philz recovery through odin and do a "new rom" wipe

try flashing the rom twice in succession. it will stick eventually but its just getting the right combo. these S4's are a right pain in the ass just now.
also another option would be downloading a rom with Aroma installer onto a micro sd and see if that gets you out of the problem. ive found on other devices ive had that a rom with Aroma can sometimes get you moving (id suggest Omega rom as a good solid base)

no i just meant flash the rom twice IF it didnt have Aroma.
try GoldenEye rom from micro sd (obviously downloaded and placed on the card through a pc and put back in the phone).
Or as above - you might have to start from scratch and use Odin to revert back to stock and re-root etc again.
Although i said Aroma sometimes helps, being honest it was a rom with Aroma that started causing me a similar issue in the first place (Not Omega or Foxhound though)
No luck guys... I think I'd rather start from a stock rom too. When I created my stock rom backup, it was through nandroid and an CWM format, but CWM did work, it froze when it was checking for MD5 or something...
But now I'm trying to find the right firmware for my phone, is there any thing I need to look out for? Gt-i9505 from Australia?
