Hello Guys. Today I detected a strange Bug or something like this on my desire HD. The last Radio I remembered to flash was 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M. But the Bootloader and all the other tools show me the new Version 12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09. So my Question is: is it possible, that the Radio was updated by flashing a rom through Recovery? Shall I reflash the Radio, or would this Brick my Device?
Sorry for my bad english. Thank you for your replies
update: I see, in Bootloader there is still 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M while in Fastboot the the Version is 12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09. Now i'm totaly confused. Got this something to do with the RIL?

No, RIL won't change information. Make sure that fastboot or cmd session is updated before you read the information. Flashing a compatible radio won´t brick your device but make sure that the radio is for your phone.
Matching RIL should be flash if you are running a Sense rom. To make sure go to menu>about phone and check the radio there.

By the Way. I'm not using a sense Rom. I use Jelly bean. I just looked it up again and everything seems to be right. But can you tell me, what the U at the End stands for, because the Rom I flashed got the Version 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M
Thank you so much

Anyone know if there is potential brick-danger in changing a radio rom? I currently run the Cingular 2.25.0001 .. and was wondering if the T-mobile 2.19 was better and if it was safe to replace my G4 8125's radio rom with the T-mobile one..
Thanks

I had i scary moment in my first flashing days when i tried a radio only updater that didn't work and i lost the ability to connect to active sync. I then discovered phones could be flashed from boot loader and fixed it with a full official ROM.
But the answer is NO, a radio upgrade does not brick the phone and you can upgrade just the radio (gsm_data zone) by using an updater made for that purpose.
The question is: is the file well made? are the addresses correct?
Two choices:
Make your own radio updater. Easy these days with all the tools and info
Get an updater from a reliable source or from places with positive feedback by other members. I believe there is a thread for that in 'Wizard Upgrading' section
Hope it's clear, good luck.
cheers
Yea I flashed it to T-mobil radio 2.19 .. worked flawlessly.. i havent run into any problems flashing ANYTHING yet.. I think i am getting lucky.

I flashed the newest Radio that released with the ERE36B release. If I want to go back to the one that released with ERE27 version can I just flash it with no issues?
I've also been looking for an answer to this question. Maybe somene can help us.
Also, where did you find the ERE27 version? I'm looking for it everywhere and can't find any link to it.
You can flash it in fastboot, But there is always a risk of bricking when flashing a radio so always double check the md5sum before you flash the radio image. I found both ERE27 and ERE36B radio update's over at this website http://android.modaco.com/content/g...-online-kitchen-optional-root-insecure-himem/ . Hope this helps

So once you check the radio file integrity with its md5 checksum there's "no risk" of bricking it right?

Well there is always a risk. If your phone gets stuck on the update it will propably brick the phone. Just make sure you have either good battery status or your phone is connected to the charger.

There are several files in there and I'm not really sure. Obviously, I'm not going to take such a risk having a great community of people who know what they're talking about.
So, if I have ERE36B and want to downgrade to ERE27, is this the correct file I have to flash? The thing is I'm not sure because I'm reading all this "update" stuff everywhere and I'm now pretty confused. I'd appreciate someone's 10 seconds to check it out for me. You'll understand I don't want to mess up with radio stuff. Thanks
ERE27 / 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2 radio - update zip format
The update includes the Radio ROM shipped with ERE27, again as an update zip. It carries version number 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2. NOTE: This has been superceded by a new radio shipped with ERE36B.

takes you to Modaco's website with no download....
But thanks for the quick reply
edit...found one...nevermind!
Could you post your results of downgrading once you have the chance to realize if there were changes? I was also thinking about doing so.
Thanks.
I've downgraded from the 36 to the 27 radio because i had LOTS of issues with calling over BT carkit. (ppl could only hear my crackling voice)
once flashed back, issues were gone. So waiting for an official radio update and won't flash the leaked radio again.
I didnt notice any drops in 3g reception
I have all 3 at the root ready to flash. I switched last night to the 4.03 from the 4.04 and will see today how it works out. Still a lot of switching between e, 3g, and h at the house here.....
After flashing the stock rom located on the wiki page.
Link to the download is http://rapidshare.com/files/345363601/RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1664052_Radio_.exe
The phone will just not turn on now, when I plug it into my computer it recognizes hardware but the screen doesn't turn on at all, any ideas what can be causing this or a way to fix this?
Thank you for your help.
I'm pretty sure you've just turned your device into a shiny, $500 paper-weight.
If the radio you flashed was included... and anything other than what is compatible with the T-MOBILE USA model... then you're ****ed.
For instance, I'm almost certain that the radio value ending in .52 cannot be flashed successfully without bricking the device. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm sorry though, this is rather unfortunate.

Correct, the rom is 1.66 for a start, which wont work on tmous. It doesnt say what radio is included, but i can tell you no 1.66 wwe roms include tmous compatible radios.

You actually mean radios with a 51 in them (example 2.09.51.x) kill tmous, not 52.
Radios with a 50 in them and higher than 2.06 will work with tmous. (example 2.08.50.x)
Unlucky. Take it back, play ignorant, get it replaced.
My HTC magic has the following -

can you give us the name of the rom or the link ?
So i can help you .
Note that your informations about your phone show that your never changed the spl and the radio , and as you know every custom rom need specific spl or radio, and your fist question is can somebody guide me , or post a link to change the HBOOT to something else other than 0010.or my link give you all necessary to change the hiboot and radio ,
My current ROM ver is 2.56.415.5
If you list the methods you tried instead of just saying you tried all you might get more help. If you really tried all we wouldn't be able to help you anyway.
But instead of making us try to guess what it is there is going wrong, provide us with info. Then people won't come in and post link to the wiki and things like that
Anyway, goldcard should be able change this SPL, and i believe that other methods is available as well. I used to have that SPL myself before i got an engineer instead. But you should change your SPL before trying to flash a Rom, but seems like you understood that just trying anyway. Other solutions is to find a newer RUU update there match your mobile which have S-OFF so you can downgrade the SLP after that.

I would take a less risky approach than RUU updates, but it was the way i did it cause back then i got my phone the 1.33.0010 was still perfected.
You got the SDK on the PC and able to list devices through ADB? And a goldcard as well?
Anyway, this was the method i used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548096

Ya , im able to connect it and run adb devicelist and i'm able to create the goldcard as well. But wen i'm trying to load the SPL , it shows that the current ROM ver is higher . S-ON means that i cant downgrade right?
So i'm guessing there is no solution for this problem

Hey guys,
I have a few questions about unrooting my HTC Legend, just in case. So I went to the thread "Easiest way to unroot HTC Legend" and it was a straight forward guide. I just have a few questions. The guide gives you a link to 1.03 software version, and 2.03 software version to unroot to, and all you have to do is reboot your phone while holding down the DOWN volume button. If I were to unroot (Just in case for emergencies) I would choose to roll back to 2.03 software. I'm on software 3.15 and was just wondering if this will roll back successfully to the stock ROM for 2.03? Will my stock ROM after unrooting be Android 2.1? Will my phone's radio version change? That I don't want at all. Just wondering because if for emergencies I need to unroot my phone then I need a stock ROM and software number that are out here in Canada, currently my phone has Froyo which isn't out for us yet. I wish I could put up a link but I can't, I was told before I'm not allowed to. But what I explained about the guide is everything you need to know just in case you don't. Thanks for the help guys.
I'm not sure about the firmware given in the guide, but those RUU files usualy contain radio too..It can be extracted from it, but I think that radio from froyo might not work with eclair rom you'd roll to...But as this is just in case, I think you have plenty of time to find out
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Actually the Froyo Rom I got didn't have another radio file in there, it kept the one I had with Eclair, so I'm sure it'll work. But what is a radio file do? I actually forgot to ask that, I always knew that it's needed but I actually don't like it when it gets changed, just because I was told if I flash the wrong radio, my phone will have problems. What happens when you change a radio file?
Anyway, there are versions of radios that do not work with certain ROMs and vice versa...
Radio image is an intermediate between android system and a GSM/CDMA/3G (phone) hardware...it is referred to as a RIL (Radio Interface Layer) it sort of acts like BIOS on PC, just between certain hardware and in your phone's software...
And yes, if you flash a wrong radio, you legend can act up like not being able to make a call or establish data connecttion, no wifi etc...
As Canada doesn't run GSM as far as I know, I'd be very carefull about radio firmware.(most radios here are WWE or Vodafone UK based and I'm not usre if it'll work out there )
You can check the zip files you update if they have radio update in them - easiest way is to remove the radio.img and re-sign them...
I actually used an RUU to root my phone that was WWE, with "Theunlockr.com" and it was used to downgrade. So I think WWE would work. If I use a Nandroid backup and something goes wrong such as wrong radio version, and restore the Nandroid backup, will everything go back to normal? If that's the case then there's not much problem in taking a risk. How do you know if the radio version if right for the mobile carrier though? I'm guessing that's the hard part of updating software? :/
